This is what I've done with my Steam deck for a very long time now. I got it during the 1 year sale and I've been just using it as my PC since my previous one was less powerful than the steam deck. I primarily use it for Blender and Unity stuff (ironically the basically the one thing you said you might not do it on) and it honestly works fine. I also felt like just still using the Linux operating system, which I was initially doing out of laziness but I've ended up having a great time with it.
If it’s not a secret, how much have you used Steam Decks as a PC, how do you feel about working on a large monitor and using Linux in general? Thank you. P.S. There is an idea to sell PC with 3070 and take a steam deck or Lenovo.
@@xellesOR as I said, I got the steam deck during the anniversary sale. I've been using it as a PC ever since. Also my pc didn't have a 3070 so idk what you're on about there.
Honestly, the Legion Go is a super cool device. The idea of owning a machine that can be used as a handheld, a tablet, AND a desktop PC is pretty appealing. It could honestly be a viable alternative to having a traditional desktop or laptop as your main device. That being said I own a Steam Deck, an RTX 3070 powered desktop, and I just ordered an ROG Ally. So obviously I'm not planning on getting this one at the moment. Perhaps in the future I'll switch over and sell my desktop rig and Ally but for now I'm just gonna refrain from spending more money lol. But it is pretty cool what Lenovo did here.
Thanks so much for producing this video about using the Legion Go with a dock and a monitor, this has really helped my decision about buying the Legion Go. Regards Neil (UK)
Get your money ready. It’s all about speed. You want Thunderbolt (or “TB” 4. Then it’s about I/O ports. The Ivanky dock isn’t TB4 but if you use it, you can EASILY buy some USB 3 to USB C converters. They are tiny and add almost nothing to the hub’s footprint. But I’m sidelining my Ivanky and going with an Acasis TB 4 hub. It has three TB 4 USB C outs which is great. To make use of TB4 ports though (and at that point you are almost THERE), you are going to need devices which send data at the highest speeds possible. I use my Lenovo Legion Go as both a PC and also for some gaming. I have all kinds of games installed…from DCS Flight Simulator to Halo Infinite, Star Trek Infinite and Battlestar Resurgence. So many titles to have fun with…and also the productivity option is off the charts with Windws, all of the office apps and AI (I use Google Bard).
This thing is taking over my gaming laptop. When you buy this and log in to your Windows account, it installs all of your favorite files, bookmarks, home page......If you are a PC guy and know and use Windows, THIS is a great device to have. It will make you feel right at home and ready to Go.
