I just walked into a best buy a couple days ago to look at the ally x for the first time. I wasn't expecting to see the legion go, and when I did....I LITERALLY almost laughed out loud! I just did not believe how big that thing was in person. It was hilarious and the other thing that shocked be was how great the ergonomics were with really nice handles. Hope you enjoy yours!
Got mine about 3 weeks ago and I'm blown away! Amazing screen and really good performance even on most AAA games. Having access to all my steam games and also be able to play xbox gamepass titles is super convenient too. :) And with it being windows, you can do a lot of other stuff too ofc. Super happy with my purchase and I honestly can't recommend it enough!
I love how I can set my Go down and detach the side controllers and game out. Just lounging with the controllers in my hands and the big screen. Life is good while gaming on the Legion. The big screen really makes this possible with the detachable controllers.
This must be a hand specific thing. The complaints about the comfort weren’t an issue in any way except it’s kind of heavy, depending on my angle. I can live with it - especially with the kickstand.
I bought it again on Black Friday as well after my original got stolen in MPLS earlier in the year. Man I missed it. It’s perfect for me. Native windows, resolution and performance. I had the steamdeck and ally at launch and sold both ultimately for the legion go. Never regretted it for a second. I do wish the battery was a bit better but for VNs and JRPGs it works more than fine
I've had my Go for about a year now and I still love it. I use mine more as a windows laptop/tablet than a gaming console but it's able to run all my software and games when I need to travel or am sick in bed. It was particularly appreciated when hurricane Milton knocked out my power for three days and I had to rely on limited backup power.
Its the best handheld gaming pc out there and keeps getting better with every update! It plays whatever games I throw at it, unlike the Steam Deck which has to have a dedicated section on Steam for games that will work on it.
I just bought one with the Amazon black Friday sale...i had points saved up too, so it was super cheap for me. I am beyind excited for it. I was set against it, but I have larger hamds, and I am older, my eyes are older, and I dont mind the "weight" of a handheld at all. I am so excited for this thing! I hope you make some videos about great games to play and settings to tweak the Legion Go to get even more out of it! Thanks for video!
I would appreciate a handheld that had dedicated launch buttons for dual os's. E.g. press the function button and a windows button and everything shuts down and launches into windows, and a steam button where everything shuts down and goes into steam os.
Almost purchased a Legion Go a few times now.. recently settled on an Ally X w/ bazzite and W11 dualboot with a shared btrfs partition for steam games. I agree that bazzite is now polished for both of these handhelds
I'm 39 and because I've got work, commitment and kids, I play a lot on the go. I own steam deck and legion go, and at some point, tried ally x. Legion Go takes the crown for all. Ally x has slightly better performance, but man, I just can't live without that big and gorgeous legion go screen. It just makes the game so much more immersive. I also coupled it with Bose Soundlink Flex and that dynamic duo really makes me feel I have a mobile desktop PC anywhere I go. Steam deck has been collecting dust ever since I got my legion go half a year ago, but sometimes my kids will help to "brush off" some of that dust every once in a while
I don’t need high frame rates on a handheld I just need something that works it doesn’t have to blow my mind it just have to keep me entertained on my commutes to work and on a plane i always keep portable power banks with me so I’m not worried about battery life as long it performs decent I’m ok if I need powerful performance I have a Xbox/pc for that
Had a lot of back and forth on which handheld to go for, ended up ordering the Legion Go today for £400 after trying it out in person. Seemed a much better idea than shelling out £800+ for the ROG Ally X! Looking forward to gaming on LeGo 👌
I haven't owned a Steam or Windows handheld, I have heard higher tier console emulation is more ironed out. Also, that the docking experience is more seamless. Definitely interested in learning more about these handsets. 🍻🤘🏼🔥
I'm on the Ally Z1 right now and the only thing holding me back from getting the Go is the 16:10 screen size. Some games seem like they are too zoomed in for me compared to 16:9. Really love the bigger display, but 16:10 is hard to get over

Only you can answer to that question. One thing’s for sure, the Asus and Lenovo are both on black friday sale so it’s a good time to get them right now. All those consoles have different pros and cons. The steam deck looks the best for portable gaming on battery while the others are energy guzzling but are also better performing. Steam Deck 2 might not release any time soon so you should just buy the one you want and sell it once new ones come out.
Eh. You'll get some performance bump, at a large battery life sacrifice. I would maybe wait for a generational leap. Have you tried something like Game Pass cloud gaming or GeForce Now to stream instead?
It seems I stumbled upon minor adjustments that if made to the AMD software will cause most games to run natively at 1600p at 30 fps. Previously I thought you could only upscale to 1600p & it’s not like the result is awful or anything, but you can actually tweak system settings to run games at 1600p with no upscaling if you buy a legion go or a 1600p one x player. It’s a heck of a thing.
Great video with great points. I agree that this device could be a lot better. Even the switch gets more updates. 6+ months and not a lenovo official driver it's real sleeping there.
I have the rog ally , love the device but for some reason I’m getting a lot of eye strain and headaches and now that you mentioned it I’m also 40 years old and probably the rog ally screen is to small for my eyes 😢 planning on trading it for the legion go . Thanks for the vid
I’m not usually using too far from an outlet, lots of couch gaming. Can get a few hours running light games and honestly I don’t have enough free time to play longer stretches!
There are other nice things like better suspend/resume, tdp and other controls integrated (big picture doesn't have that). But yeah, if you don't want bazzite, you know who you are.
Really depends on what you are doing. I do like the VRR a lot, and the extra ram is very situational depending on the game, for lighter stuff it won’t matter. The reason I would pick the go would primarily be screen size and flexibility with the kickstand and detachable controllers. The X is a better purchase if you’re going to be away from an outlet for extended periods.
Hey, few questions if you don't mind answering! I travel a lot so mainly will use it to dock to tv. I'll always be by an outlet to charge. Whats the performance like docked on normal smart tvs? Will it be able to play top games at a decent enough quality while docked to a tv? If i downloaded lets say black ops for zombies and wanted to play friends, would i be able to dock and connect multiple controllers? A big factor for me getting it, able to play whatever i want whenever i want at a decent enough quality or frame rate. Im not expecting the best but something least playable.
Docked you can run it in a higher performance mode and you should be able to play a good chunk of games at 720p - 1080p. It has two usb c ports so you can plug power into one and devices or hubs in the other. The controllers can be disconnected and used wirelessly. And of course since it’s a full pc basically any Bluetooth or usb controllers will work with it. Of course a lot of pc titles don’t have split screen so keep that in mind for group play.

Bought the legion go 1TB for $649 at end of October. I haven't t opened it yet 😅. But i also became a plus member with Best Buy when i bought the legion go. With that i get 60days return on it and price match during that time period. So i just saw the legion go 1TB going for $549 when i bought it for $649. Called best buy and had it price matched and now im getting $100 back 😁. Ive been thinking on either tog ally x vs legion go but i think for price point and legion go capabilities im going to stick with the legion go.
Fun fact, I'm pretty sure they have the same screen. For streaming only personally I'd go with the tab, lighter and battery lasts longer. But for anything else lego is the goat. PS: there's rumours about a 2nd gen coming in soon, also check out the msi claw 8 for an 8in landscape native screen and vrr support. 2025 is going to be a good year for handhelds I feel
Tough question both have advantages. LeGo gets the lowest latency and has gyro support. The Y700 is way more portable and lighter. I’ve mostly been using the tablet but I also only recently picked up the legion again.
Im 35 and my hands going numb and Ive tried everything... The only one not making my hands go numb is Nintendo Switch with Hori Split Pad Pro but the power in a Switch is non existing unfortunately... Maybe should give the legion go a go because if im tired I can play with the controllers as an xbox control and have the Legion Go on a laptopstand on my belly :D
I never picked one up cause even the ally is too big for me but the idea of steam os has peaked my interest lately. I may try out bazzite on my win 4. Still don't know if I care enough to start fresh though.
I wish they would slow on the pc Handhelds. I have seen 7840 u has dropped to a third of its value in the resell market. I’m not sure there has been this big leap since 6800u which are better than the steam deck.
Bazzite is the reason I still have the Legion Go. It completely solved all the issues I was having with it on Windows and now it's the only OS installed on my device. All my games work on Linux so I gave up nothing in the switch too, aside from a lack of development and meaningful improvements to the experience (looking at you, Lenovo). Doesn't hurt that I've had re-mappable buttons, working TDP, framerate limitiers, and per game settings for months before they finally showed up on the Windows side. The only way I'll buy a Legion Go 2 is if I know it'll support Bazzite at this point.
If you're on windows make sure you check the Realtek control panel for audio. There is a whack EQ curve applied by default that makes them sound significantly worse. They still aren't on par with Ally or Deck, but at least a little better after fixing EQ.
I still think it’s a cool device. We’re just a few days away from legion go 2 details potentially so I would probably wait to see at least when that’s gonna be available and for how much.

Even without there's plenty of 2D games I play that will run 1600p 144hz no problem. But yeah the new frame gen and scaling stuff is helping these handheld PCs a lot.
I ordered a steam deck LE($1089) but then 2 days later my local big box had the legion go for $988 so I bought one it's very heavy tho I'm not sure about it yet
Back in March I bought one (1 TB version). I had installed bazzite (dual boot with Win11), until an update broke my installation (black screen). I am only using Win11 now (since there is no Linux version of Lossless Scaling). After all this time, I think that playing anything over 1280x800 and medium settings, is wasting computing resources!! The size of the screen is to small, for displaying FHD and QHD resolutions. Especially in old games, the fonts are too small!!
I've heard it can be buggy and require a few button presses. Otherwise I would check the lenovo website and download the latest legion space software and install?
Is this even close to a laptop with rtx 3050 or rtx 4050 4060? I personally find these under powered compared to laptops! Due to the APU graphics is nowhere close to GTX RTX level graphics. Only good thing is it has thunderbolt 4 USB4 connectivity options for things like future proofing EGPU
Been wanting to install bazzite, but is anyone having issues with Windows not playing nicely with the partitions on updates? That’s the only thing holding me back from installing is that I don’t want to potentially brick the system, or having to reinstall due to windows not playing nicely with dual boot.
I do have dual boot set up, but haven't used windows much since initially setting up so not sure I can comment to your concern. As a last resort you can usually use a tool to delete the linux partitions and expand windows back to fill the whole drive to revert.
@ Cool. I would probably still use windows for games that have compatibility issues, and so I was curious since I know with some people, they’ve had issues with windows getting rid of the partition and bazzite when some updates install.
Yeah I sold my first one a while ago and always missed it a bit. I think I’ll hold on to it this time until something else with an 8+” screen shows up.
Bazzite saved me from selling it. Lenevo sucks at maintaining their software. Especially the GPU drivers, I had to side load new drivers in order to play older titles like Fallout NV and Teardown.... well at least I could till a forced MS update borked the legion space app. After that the app would only work on the old drivers from Lenovo. Sure you could just run the legion go like a windows pc. BUT that one shitty app is the only way to change tpd on the fly, RGB colours, etc. Basically everything that made it a handheld with windows and not a windows tablet. Checked the forums and yep its a known issue for over a year....2 days later (15 Nov 24) wiped Windows and put Bazzite.

I just got mine back about a month ago. Advancements in frame generation technology really have changed the device for the better.
The legion go was the one that got away and I bought one again recently too. I love being able to detach the controllers too

The fact it is a Windows tablet with big screen is what made me choose LeGo over others.

It is a PITA to have to connect a keyboard when I want to boot back into windows. There's probably a way someone smarter than me can figure out, lol.
I'm ready for 32gb ram to finally play FFXVI on handheld without stutter. I also purchased a protective case for the Rog ally and it has a kick stand
I have a OneXPlayer OneXFly with 32GB of ram that I enjoy. Hard to recommend to people due to price though.

Haven’t tried the shared partition but I did leave 300gb for windows (1tb model) for updates and the occasional windows only game.
The legion lenovo go is more comfortable for me in the hands believe it or not and that screen is amazing !!!🎉
How do you deal with the poor battery life though? That's what keeps me from buying it

Performance for emulation is definitely less trial and error. And yeah docking is pretty easy for the most part. I’ve owned… too many pc handhelds.

Weight seems to be a big issue, but I bought a Gibitlee controller connector so I'll be able to remove the controller to use it.

Yeah I don’t understand why their update pace is so glacial. ASUS is doing a much better job with updates for the Ally.

I don't see the appeal of Bazzite. It limits the whole system. If you want the Steamdeck feel just use Steam Big picture mode

i got the legion go mainly because of big screen yes they have better options out there but its still a great handheld

Plenty of games will still be playable. Current new handheld PC devices are only 10-20% faster.

The Etsy grips you got: Do they get in the way when you have the controllers detached, be it FPS mode or not? Are they comfortable this way too?
Detached they seem ok. They won’t work for FPS mode as they cover the optical sensor. They do have a clip mechanism to take off pretty easily.

I guess that comes down to individual grip style and hand size… the 3D printed grips might help.
Bought the legion go 1TB for $649 at end of October. I haven't t opened it yet 😅. But i also became a plus member with Best Buy when i bought the legion go. With that i get 60days return on it and price match during that time period. So i just saw the legion go 1TB going for $549 when i bought it for $649. Called best buy and had it price matched and now im getting $100 back 😁.
Ive been thinking on either tog ally x vs legion go but i think for price point and legion go capabilities im going to stick with the legion go.

Fun fact, I'm pretty sure they have the same screen. For streaming only personally I'd go with the tab, lighter and battery lasts longer. But for anything else lego is the goat. PS: there's rumours about a 2nd gen coming in soon, also check out the msi claw 8 for an 8in landscape native screen and vrr support. 2025 is going to be a good year for handhelds I feel
Tough question both have advantages. LeGo gets the lowest latency and has gyro support. The Y700 is way more portable and lighter. I’ve mostly been using the tablet but I also only recently picked up the legion again.
Im 35 and my hands going numb and Ive tried everything... The only one not making my hands go numb is Nintendo Switch with Hori Split Pad Pro but the power in a Switch is non existing unfortunately... Maybe should give the legion go a go because if im tired I can play with the controllers as an xbox control and have the Legion Go on a laptopstand on my belly :D
Steam deck and Ally both make my hands numb eventually. The go has that flexibility aspect that can help.
I never picked one up cause even the ally is too big for me but the idea of steam os has peaked my interest lately. I may try out bazzite on my win 4. Still don't know if I care enough to start fresh though.
Bazzite on win4 is probably pretty good. You could shrink your windows partition and install it alongside to try.
I wish they would slow on the pc Handhelds. I have seen 7840 u has dropped to a third of its value in the resell market. I’m not sure there has been this big leap since 6800u which are better than the steam deck.
Bazzite is the reason I still have the Legion Go. It completely solved all the issues I was having with it on Windows and now it's the only OS installed on my device. All my games work on Linux so I gave up nothing in the switch too, aside from a lack of development and meaningful improvements to the experience (looking at you, Lenovo). Doesn't hurt that I've had re-mappable buttons, working TDP, framerate limitiers, and per game settings for months before they finally showed up on the Windows side. The only way I'll buy a Legion Go 2 is if I know it'll support Bazzite at this point.
I much prefer Windows but in any case, the Legion Go is the goat!!

If you're on windows make sure you check the Realtek control panel for audio. There is a whack EQ curve applied by default that makes them sound significantly worse. They still aren't on par with Ally or Deck, but at least a little better after fixing EQ.

I still think it’s a cool device. We’re just a few days away from legion go 2 details potentially so I would probably wait to see at least when that’s gonna be available and for how much.

It’s not quite as practical, but yeah with a mouse and keyboard it could do anything a laptop could.
When using Bazzite, can you still use emulators? Can I still play Nintendo switch and ps3 ?
Absolutely, and you can use Emudeck just like on a Steam Deck that does most of the configuration for you.

"Resolution is too high". Not really anymore with AFMF2. Atleast in regards to games the OTHER handhelds can also play.
Even without there's plenty of 2D games I play that will run 1600p 144hz no problem. But yeah the new frame gen and scaling stuff is helping these handheld PCs a lot.
I ordered a steam deck LE($1089) but then 2 days later my local big box had the legion go for $988 so I bought one it's very heavy tho I'm not sure about it yet

Back in March I bought one (1 TB version). I had installed bazzite (dual boot with Win11), until an update broke my installation (black screen). I am only using Win11 now (since there is no Linux version of Lossless Scaling).
After all this time, I think that playing anything over 1280x800 and medium settings, is wasting computing resources!! The size of the screen is to small, for displaying FHD and QHD resolutions. Especially in old games, the fonts are too small!!

I've heard it can be buggy and require a few button presses. Otherwise I would check the lenovo website and download the latest legion space software and install?

Yes they’ve been pretty slow with updates. But that doesn’t really matter if you’re using bazzite since it gets its own updates.
Is this even close to a laptop with rtx 3050 or rtx 4050 4060? I personally find these under powered compared to laptops! Due to the APU graphics is nowhere close to GTX RTX level graphics. Only good thing is it has thunderbolt 4 USB4 connectivity options for things like future proofing EGPU
At the same resolution, no it's not close to the performance of those cards. The benefit is the portability and form factor - not for everyone.
Been wanting to install bazzite, but is anyone having issues with Windows not playing nicely with the partitions on updates? That’s the only thing holding me back from installing is that I don’t want to potentially brick the system, or having to reinstall due to windows not playing nicely with dual boot.
I do have dual boot set up, but haven't used windows much since initially setting up so not sure I can comment to your concern. As a last resort you can usually use a tool to delete the linux partitions and expand windows back to fill the whole drive to revert.
@ Cool. I would probably still use windows for games that have compatibility issues, and so I was curious since I know with some people, they’ve had issues with windows getting rid of the partition and bazzite when some updates install.
My favorite machine. Just to be clear that i run Cities Skylines 2 and Flight Simulator 24 easily.
I haven’t played CS on it yet but I have hours in on my desktop. I bet the trackpad helps!
Can you play with VR?
You could use a headset with it but it’s probably not going to have enough graphical power to run a lot of stuff.
I have a legion go, and it never digs in my hands
The screen is great, its too heavy, But the screen quality better than my steam deck oled. If steam deck oled made 1200p screen then its good.
It's too heavy to hold up on it's own yeah, that's why I like being creative with the kickstand.
I gave it a try this week on sale and I didn't like maybe it's because I'm uses to my rog ally x and steam deck but I hated my experience with it

Yeah I sold my first one a while ago and always missed it a bit. I think I’ll hold on to it this time until something else with an 8+” screen shows up.
Bazzite saved me from selling it. Lenevo sucks at maintaining their software. Especially the GPU drivers, I had to side load new drivers in order to play older titles like Fallout NV and Teardown.... well at least I could till a forced MS update borked the legion space app.
After that the app would only work on the old drivers from Lenovo.
Sure you could just run the legion go like a windows pc. BUT that one shitty app is the only way to change tpd on the fly, RGB colours, etc.
Basically everything that made it a handheld with windows and not a windows tablet. Checked the forums and yep its a known issue for over a year....2 days later (15 Nov 24) wiped Windows and put Bazzite.
So you can't use Xbox ultimate on this for games

On the windows side Lenovo had been a bit slow with updates. Bazzite gets lots of updates.
What about the battery life
1-4 hours depending on what you’re playing.
Alright finally a device meant for the old gamers carpel tunnel, bad eyesight, you are just missing arthritis and I am ready to go!!
