Hi. I can’t connect it to my FreeSync Monitor. What hub/dock are you using? The Legion can’t detect the monitor. It can once but not working after that.

All these new "PC based" mobile gaming system have sparked a new interest in me. I am seriously considering selling my RTX 3080 and getting something like this or the new MSI Claw. I'm barely ever home and don't have time to properly make use of the 3080. This use case of a desktop replacement / Handheld Gaming console is fantastic. Thanks for this video.
I don't play games but I bought a Legion GO specifically to use as a portable workstation and it's been working an absolute treat. My main aim was to have something that doesn't look like a laptop on stage when my band performs and this tiny thing has done absolutely everything I've asked of it. We can pre-load a whole set, 20+ songs, and play them back without any problems at all, with minimal latency. I've also got Adobe Creative Suite loaded and I can get through some pretty big After Effects projects as easily as on my big workstation at the office. I haven't fired up my Core i9 laptop in weeks, it's gathering dust on a shelf. I use the same USB Type C hub I was using with the laptop to connect to my big monitor and I use a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. It even works OK with touch. When I bought it, I thought it would be OK to load up with songs for gigs but I'm using it as my main computer and it's doing a great job. It's been a revelation.
This is a helpful video for me. I recently got an Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 with an RTX 4050. I'll be selling that and got the Legion go since i really can't play on it because it's too heavy. Especially carrying it with the charger. I'm lazy like that. LOL It's good to know that this Little pc is capable of so many things. Great video! Cheers!
This is my 2nd video from this guy and I'm subscribing. That Blurred screen got me good. I was like, "this man has no shame". You are doing Gods work my friend :)
Had one of these. Retuned it for the Ally. I do better with the Ally on FPS games but I’m 41, missing my gaming laptop due to the small Ally screen. I don’t notice VRR. I’m buying another Go today and returning the Ally even though I bought accessories for it. I just want a gaming tablet that doesn’t look like a switch. One I can use at home and work and just bring a controller and WIRED earbuds along as there’s a delay like you said. 5g on cod with a controller, loved it You can use the stock right controller thumbstick as a mouse pointer if you enable desktop controller mode on steam in the settings, not just for each game. Triggers are your L/R mouse buttons. I need to test this out with a controller, mouse pointer wise but it’s more of like, touch the game icon, load up the game, play in gamepad controller mode anyways Great video! 👍
Hey bro did you get the Legion Go again? If so, how is that working out for you? I want a PC handheld for my 40th birthday but I’m deciding between the Go and the Ally.. I need something fun to play on the go but also use it for basic work.
The funny thing is that people tend to think this as a too big of a handheld, but looking from the perspective of a laptop, it is way more portable for gaming, specially if you do not care about 8k ultra graphics (wich I don't). And as a person who works from home and codes for web... I am defitely considering this as a next "laptop". It is the perfect blend of a mini pc and a laptop. If lenovo give us more usb and hdmi on the next device so we can avoid these hubs, it'll be just perfect
Thank you for testing out Blender I believe if you're willing to pay for an online render farm then it's going to be a fantastic ultra portable blender setup
I am so tempted to sell my Legion 5 to get a Legion Go. I already have a thin and light laptop I can take with me on the go and I haven't been using the Legion 5 for weeks. There was another video I watched where he bought a eGPU to increase performance, and that seems like an awesome setup instead of having a gaming laptop I'm too lazy to use.
Some cool news though to make handhelds even more desktop replacements. Mobile/portable eGPUS may start becoming a thing, OneNet are producing an XGPU on indiegogo. So, handhelds would be able to connect with portable eGPUs to get more performance. Asus ROG Ally can already do this with the XGmobile eGPU, but the port is proprietary.
Im soon to have one just on the fact that it seems to be quite viable as a productive machine, most of my use case is probably windows emulation, other than that, maybe my GOG games list, I dont think ill have steam on this device as i want it to be kinda clean especially as im a double decker anyway.
4:00 I totally get you. I had a whole phase of trying to get various older systems to use, even though I was running a ryzen 5600, 3060ti just fine. I ended up buying this second hand laptop for 75$ and it is the best thing I could ask for to use in my work. I5-5300u, 5500hd. Super light weight, works right out of a power socket. Runs all windows apps in win 10, some older\light games (Hades, Cuphead, Streets of rage, Heroes 5..). Just a joy of a old banger. You said 3 screens were buggy, what about using only 1 extra external screen?
I feel something like the Ayaneo kun would make for a better desktop replacement as it can be configured with more ram, has a significantly higher tdp and supposedly a more advanced cooling system.
exactly, why would I really need the AYaneo when I can get Lenovo Legion 5 pro with literally 3060-3070 on board? The dude compares a 700$ device to a 1600$ LOL@@theo5675
In my Offroad Camper i have 8 square meters solar power on the roof. Also for cooking and light. A Gaming Laptop realy hurts way to much. A Mac is suitable. But not fun. With my Steamdeck i can have fun tinkering, playing games and doing my remote work for days. Most fun is when it is stormy outside. Unthinkable with a gaming laptop. For 100 watts i can run my starlink, my router, my steamdeck - and my vive xr fueled by my steamdeck. And the gratest ting ever ist linux. I use bazzite. As a semi immutable distro (tanks to rpm-ostree) it is unbreakabe. Pure fun everytime i press the power button! A Desktop-Office-OS belongs to Desktop-Office-Desktops. A Handheld can be so much more!
using legion go to play wow and it works perfect with my 40 bucks dock.I had alot of problem with ally and keyboard lagging but legion go is problem free i just connect it and play anything 1080p

Good Video. I like the fact you used Blender, since I often use it in my workload. I do 3D printing with resin printers, I would like to see someone use Lychee Slicer on the Legion GO (where I spend the majority of my work time.). On my PC with a 7900x and 3080 the CPU spikes from 46 degrees to 86 while slicing files, even with a 360 AIO...
Glad you liked it. Concerning your Temperature "issue": That's the 7900x. If you don't use eco mode, it will immediatly go straight towards it's designed maximum temeprature of up to 95 °C. It sounds and feels unhealthy, but is designed that way by AMD actually. And some apps/programms just immediatly use 100% of a cpu, which will cause those temepratures...
This is actually the video I'm looking for! I want to know are Legion Go able to run Cubase 9.5 and load some vst instrument and rendering music on Legion Go.
Imagine using a desktop pc with 16gb ram and a ryzen 5800x or an Intel i7 11700k with a fast SSD. That's what you can imagine the legion go as. The answer is most likely yes ;) Especially if you use a good dock to plug in peripherals etc.
I love the lenovo legion go and will not think twice about using it as my everyday desktop pc.. The thing that really sucks is that its not available in south africa 😢 so please if anyone has some info about when it will be available here in south Africa please let me know
Absolutely excited about pcs going forward. A laptop replaced my desktop, and now I got a handheld pc to replace the laptop usage. With how good laptops and handhelds are now, I don’t think I’ll ever buy a desktop pc ever again.
This was an amazing video. Thankyou for doing this. How is unreal engine 5 or 4 on this device btw? If you ever have time to test them out! Thanks so much for this again! I know you tried blender and it's pretty good. But is unreal engine good too?
@Hubwood that I'm in the process of buying a legion Go, and my laptop also needs upgrading... wondered if the legion go could be a 2 in ! And it looks like it absolutely will.
You know, im thinking in buying one to replace my notebook. I hae and old thinkpad x270, usually runing inux. But i can livein windows if is in this small form factor. I would like to see someone running visual studio in on though.
It isn't great as far as use as a tablet goes - it weighs twice as much as the average tablet, for web browsing and similar the battery lasts approx. 5 hours on normal settings or 6 to 6.5 if you go to town tweaking it; 5W TDP limit, all battery saver settings on, screen at low brightness and 60Hz, etc. the CPU is way overkill for the device so drinks power and the screen isn't battery friendly either.
Interesting experiment! But I'd like to point out that 9:50 for laptops with only iGPU active it ranges from 10 to 20 watts. 30-40 watts in normal, non-gaming use seems to be extremely high for a handheld. Also, I wish you disabled other displays(including the Legion Go) more often, especially during gaming, as in my experience, having other screens enabled increases GPU load, RAM and vRAM usage and may introduce stutters in gaming. So it's best to just keep the screens you're actually using at the moment on. Thanks for the video! This is definitely an interesting usecase for a handheld! Still, I'll stick with laptops, as with a gaming laptop I can still have a proper computer wherever I go, and have desktop experience with it with external peripherals.
If I would have made a gaming test I would of course deactivate other monitors. But I just wanted to test casual gaming in this setup. The wattage was measured with the 30w performance mode. You can get it lower than that, also keep und mind that using 3 monitors (2 additional) would also raise the wattage in laptops!
Most of the accessory and display issues are from the jsaux. I have one and it sucks with my steamdeck. Random flickering, refuses to work at times, and messes with my other hdmi devices somehow
the blackscreen thing happens to me only in windows with any handheld, my deck or my ally both did it, but the deck in steamos never randomly disconnects like that
You mention that it fits 90% of your everyday use-case (I'm paraphrasing). However, would you say that if they come out with a 32 or even a 64 GB variant, it'll close that gap to a full 100%?
It would most certainly help alot yes. As I'm using Blender and Bigger Premiere pro Projects that would at least eliminate any possible problems with that. Though I personally will still keep a Desktop for the sole purpose of needing alot of SSDs/HDDs and I like my Gaming GPU aswell as the capabillity to upgrade my system over time. I'm not the target group for a switch (yet) :)
@@theo5675Literal drop-in replacement (no physical board changes, one minor firmware change) RAM ICs are around $90 USD ($20 something x4) consumer pricing. Large companies who bulk order get a STEEP discount. They could 100% increase the RAM size with hilariously low impact on margin, and with increased sales figures might even make them more money.

Hi all, I'm looking forward to buy this Legion Go primarily for Gaming and Video editing using Filmora and Adobe Premier Pro (for Color grading too) on the go because I'm a travel vlogger and need a strong portable device for video editing also. What you guys suggest? Is it worth it for Video editing also? Can it handle Color Grading like stuff with reasonable export times? I also need not to worry about Cooling much as Legion Go Cooling is not much of an issue as compared to Gaming laptop.
While Video editing with premiere pro was possible you're certainly held back by the 16GB ram which can become a problem in more complex scenes. If you plan on doing so more often I would advice to get an ultra book instead. Or maybe a less known gaming handheld with 32GB.
@Hubwood I'm just interested in basic editing like color grading and compilation of clips with very little effects. What do you say about video rendering for my needs? Will it be quick enough? Thanks.

Glad you liked it and glad it helped :)
Wow man... Thanks for sharing :)
Thanks a lot for the detailed and informative video. I am seriously considering a route like this and your findings were very useful.
Glad it helped! :)
This is a helpful video for me. I recently got an Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 with an RTX 4050. I'll be selling that and got the Legion go since i really can't play on it because it's too heavy. Especially carrying it with the charger. I'm lazy like that. LOL
It's good to know that this Little pc is capable of so many things. Great video! Cheers!
This is my 2nd video from this guy and I'm subscribing. That Blurred screen got me good. I was like, "this man has no shame". You are doing Gods work my friend :)
Excuse me? Not everyone is comfortable with watching animal documentations publicly!
jusst the content i'm looking for. Thank you
Had one of these.
5g on cod with a controller, loved it
You can use the stock right controller thumbstick as a mouse pointer if you enable desktop controller mode on steam in the settings, not just for each game. Triggers are your L/R mouse buttons. I need to test this out with a controller, mouse pointer wise but it’s more of like, touch the game icon, load up the game, play in gamepad controller mode anyways
Great video! 👍
Hey bro did you get the Legion Go again? If so, how is that working out for you?
I want a PC handheld for my 40th birthday but I’m deciding between the Go and the Ally.. I need something fun to play on the go but also use it for basic work.
You got me in the intro at the piglet videos. They are super cute though
i wonder if someone who get Go to promote it ( with a pretty strong neck for sure) could do something really interesting and use it for VR
Im looking to get one of these to take to work to game in my down time. Id be hooking it up to minitor, moise and keyboard. So, perfect.
Thanks for the effort bro, keep it up!
Very detailed, nice dude thanks
I have same head phones I'm at year 5 on it, had to replace ear covers two times, usb once, great head phones
Pretty awesome video, keep it up!
Thanks a lot :)
I plan on usomg mine for 3d printing aswell as gaming so using blender for small things looks like a good idea 😊
thank you - that was very helpful!
How much it's will be crazy in future. From full desktop with huge pc to a small pc can run everything.
I just picked up me Legion Go today and this is just what i needed to watch because im thinking of selling my desktop and using only the go.
Awesome!!!! This is what I needed!
Hoping to have this year so I can do work on a table with external monitor then game on bed with its handheld capability 🙏
The screen blackout may be your chair. Look up Ikea chairs and screen going black. I had that issue.
Lol I looked it up. That is some weird stuff! 😂
I think it was the Docking Station though. Didn't happen with a different one I tested later
Great vid. Looking for something just like this😊
4:00 I totally get you.
The screen issue was basically only because of the jsaux dock...
wish they ve made a 32gb ram version, even if more expensive
It would cost double the price at that point just buy a desktop
I feel something like the Ayaneo kun would make for a better desktop replacement as it can be configured with more ram, has a significantly higher tdp and supposedly a more advanced cooling system.
True but it's double the price it's like 1600 for the maxed out version at that price u can buy a desktop
@@theo5675fr lol
exactly, why would I really need the AYaneo when I can get Lenovo Legion 5 pro with literally 3060-3070 on board?
The dude compares a 700$ device to a 1600$ LOL@@theo5675
@@theo5675or a really good gaming laptop lol
I want to use it for music production
Handheld pc need 5 years and i can promise u guys the power will be there. Battery is another story. Unless technology can shock us again!. I think 2-4 hour is the range
I'm using mine as my desktop now too. Its been amazing.
Concerning your Temperature "issue":
That's the 7900x.
I bought a Zephyrus G14 with RX 6800s gpu for $1300. I wish i had waited & instead got a Legion Go with an EGPU for desktop use.
thank you for support and feedback i need to now if i can install streamlabs for video live stream to play dj music thank you
This is actually the video I'm looking for!
The answer is most likely yes ;)
Especially if you use a good dock to plug in peripherals etc.
Please let be normal speed at Blender 3D section.. I want to see how smooth at moving object and rendering, also sculpting as well
if not in Rendermode (Cycles) it's just smooth realtime like on any other powerful PC.
i need to now yours HDMI connections so i can use 2 monitors screens thank you for feedback
Well, it´s a powerhouse of a pc for rendering and working, it´s a bit faster than a Ryzen 7 5800x which is crazy for 30w
Defenitely....
I love the lenovo legion go and will not think twice about using it as my everyday desktop pc.. The thing that really sucks is that its not available in south africa 😢 so please if anyone has some info about when it will be available here in south Africa please let me know
Can you make a video for coding using lenovo legion go? Web and app? Thank you!
Should be absolutely no problem. The 8 core 16 thread CPU actually makes this thing a desktop CPU... :)
Absolutely excited about pcs going forward.
A laptop replaced my desktop, and now I got a handheld pc to replace the laptop usage.
With how good laptops and handhelds are now, I don’t think I’ll ever buy a desktop pc ever again.
With this you just need a 65% keyboard when doing business trip
This was an amazing video. Thankyou for doing this. How is unreal engine 5 or 4 on this device btw? If you ever have time to test them out! Thanks so much for this again! I know you tried blender and it's pretty good. But is unreal engine good too?
You mean developing with it? Since some games with UE4/5 run pretty okay
@@Hubwood yup! aiming to make indie games with my new device and if i can do that with the go then that's ideal!
Annnndd this video has swayed me!
What do you mean? :)
@Hubwood that I'm in the process of buying a legion Go, and my laptop also needs upgrading... wondered if the legion go could be a 2 in ! And it looks like it absolutely will.
using steamdeck as a destop and i am enjoying it
You know, im thinking in buying one to replace my notebook. I hae and old thinkpad x270, usually runing inux. But i can livein windows if is in this small form factor. I would like to see someone running visual studio in on though.
Can you please confirm the battery life of the device as a tablet for college work, web browsing and content consumption.
I watch a lot of pig videos, too! Glad to know I am not the only one 😂
I don't know what you're talking about!!!!!
Most of the accessory and display issues are from the jsaux. I have one and it sucks with my steamdeck. Random flickering, refuses to work at times, and messes with my other hdmi devices somehow
You saved me money, hassle and time. Now no people need to move it during shipping back and forth. I was hesitating on their docks
you got me on the por...pig..the pig part
It's a cute piggy! Isn't it 🥰
the blackscreen thing happens to me only in windows with any handheld, my deck or my ally both did it, but the deck in steamos never randomly disconnects like that
parksung dock so no not same dock as you
Amazing video sir! Too bad you didn't take a little time to run unity in Legion GO. But what do you think? Since you are also running blender
Oh sorry, I I don't know about that tbh. 🙈
Welcome to the Legion of Go.
Itll cost as much as a desktop with that much ram the whole point in these handheld pcs is keeping it below a desktop price
Thanks for the review! Architect student here using MacBook Pro to run most of my softwares except for Revit. Was wondering if it would be able to handle Blender, Rhino, Revit with an external GPU?
With an external Gpu this becomes a workstation... But the 16gb ram will be a problem still...
0:11 😏 I watched some on mine's too
😱
Weird question as we have a new issue a lot of portable "game console" PCs may sometimes have. This is docked, I go to plug in a gamepad. Is the OS viewing the Lenovo Legion Go as "player one gamepad"?
Oh I don't know, haven't checked that yet
Thanks.
In order to fully use the GO as desktop replacement, they should fix the issue occuring when hooking up a second monitor via dock station. The monitor in duplicate mode results flipped down. Lenovo, please fix that!
I didn't have that issue 🤔
Hi! I´m thinking on buying one but beside some games i´d like to use word and powerpoint, I also move from one place to another a lot due my job as a teacher and I want to have something smaller than a notebook but powerfull enough to keep on doing basic jobs
It will be powerful enough for sure!
If they made keyboard accessories for legion go
Please if you replace the dock station to Razer Core X Chroma Aluminum External GPU Enclosure (eGPU): Compatible with Windows & MacOS Thunderbolt 3 Laptops, NVIDIA/AMD PCIe Support, 700W PSU, 4X USB 3.1, 1x Gbit Ethernet, Chroma RGB with a graphics card of rtx 4060 ti how do you think the lenovo going to run or perform
I don't think its strong enough for vr and you can buy an rtx 4050 for new that price in some countries.
You Cooooould do some very basic VR. But it won't be any fun in most scenarios... I wouldn't use it for that really.
How is it with multitasking games between Outlook and browser based apps? I wfh and use Chrome / Edge with Outlook. Does it show any lag? I can't relate to the apps being used in the video so would be great to get some output from you fellas. Thanks
the monitor turning off thing is a lenovo thing, my work laptop does the exact same thing with an official lenovo dock that was made for that specific laptop
I think it's the dock. 🤔 Didn't happen with the Baseus dock review I just released.
@@Hubwood i think it might be the amount of peripherals, I have a usbc dick attached to it with a lot of stuff on it
@@MuffinTheCat I was using a 13 in 1 hub for my recent test with almost all ports connected. Didn't have any issues 🤔
@@Hubwood yeah probably the dock then, whatd be the best one you'd recommend for the go, I'm thinking of an extension stick, but I'm kinda interested in jsaux's dock with an m.2 slot
@@MuffinTheCat the issue with the jsaux docks is, that their cable is to short (the USB port on the go is very far to the left).
And said display issue.
I did NOT have any issues with this Baseus dock though. But I Don't know if this also applies to their cheaper docks.
