I think it’s a step in the right direction for the handheld space but I’m seeing there is still lots of work to be done yet. Version 2 of these products will be world changing IMO
I have the steam deck, but I have to admit... as a laptop replacement, it won't cut it. I'll buy the ally for work and some gaming, and I'll use steam deck as a true handheld portable device.
@@ShinzoX90idk man, I’ve got a pc, ps5, Xbox, and the ally and I have to say the ally is the most enjoyable + playing literally anything on the go is nuts
How are they killing the console? Playstation is doing the same thing how are they the last one standing? Nobody needs to emulate this generation's consoles most games are PC
The reason I have it is the whole plane joke he said. I really don’t want to pull out a laptop in mid flights. All planes have usb ports plug it in and it’ll last or in ur car or anywhere with usb to type c and boom game. Laptops are big rog is small. But I use mine for everything as a desktop main pc and on the go. I just love is and 50-60 fos does not bother me I really don’t game a ton
I was hoping for ROG Ally 2 but apparently the new one is just the Ally X. I do intend to use the Ally as a workstation laptop alternative IF NEEDED since I already have a desktop PC and a laptop doesn't feel much that much portable anymore if I wanted decent gaming, so an ROG Ally seems like the perfect thing to scratch that itch. Also help that growing up I mever have a handheld so figured might as well treat my 30yo self to a treat when the Ally X launches.
iam homeless since foour years...and two weeks ago i get a used rogally... ah so good..i can do my dailys in internet ,and work like normal pc...and even i can play my old games...real nice device
My friend, try playing Battlefield 1, Warzone 2, and Battlefield V on a mouse and keyboard on the TV screen, and I hope the video will be accurate 720p60 1080p60
Gen 2 of the ROG Ally will be nothing without a proper operating system that understands its portability nature. I hope Microsoft understands that they are one jump away to greatness or a deep hole with the next gen Windows OS... I hope it's the former not the latter.
I would just plug it into my M1 MacBook Air’s capture card if I don’t want to put up with running an inconvenient Windows Virtual Machine on Mac if I wanna run X86 or Windows Software. It takes up less workspace than having 2 laptops side by side
It should’ve been on the bottom. Even if they had to relocate a longer cable to reach the SD card port on the motherboard, they could’ve easily done that.
I do not think headphones are necessary for the desktop setup. Because of the front facing speakers , if you can let the ally sit in front of the monitor, it can act as the speaker. I certainly made it work by propping the monitor slightly higher.
I don't think this is a laptop replacement. I have bought this and have used it extensively in flights , trains, cabs and it performs really well. Yes, a small battery is a concern and you need to plug in for those long sessions of intense online shooters or Fifa etc.
In my office there are Dell, Lenovo high res monitors which has bulit in USBs, type C power out, display-in, peripheral connection and in my opinion that is the best thing to connect your Ally. The monitor pushes out 65W power sufficient for Ally to work on full performance and those monitors are 27 to 32 inch sizes.
IMO, some trackpads would have gone a long way into making it a really portable computer without additional periferals. Otherwise this is almost perfect. I guess packing a lightweight bluetooth mouse and keyboard isn't too bad of a compromise. I used the Steam Deck almost exclusively as a portable desktop and enjoyed Linux on it. I'm guessing I'd have to debloat Win 11 on this or install Ghost Spectre for a smaller OS footprint 🤔
I’m very curious if this would run world of Warcraft at a decent setting. My laptop has a 1060 and is starting to slowing down and I already have the ally. This would be a good bridge until I can pull the trigger on a desktop rig
I actually filmed a portion of the video I didn't include that was all about how I hated the color. I had dirt already accumulating in 20 days. White always turns to yellow. 😂
I've been using 16 GB for years. I was using a 32gb mini PC, and I thought I felt the speed, but I didn't... it's more about the cpu. but 16gb is actually overkill for basically all games you play or applications.
Sound like u hav3 been sponsored...surely u have an issue with micro sd dead or not recognised on ally after u download3d the games n played few time ...
Lol wish I was but I never used it 500 gig was enough for everything I wanted on it. It didn't even cross my mind. I did however use an external drive for a bunch of games that worked well.

I completely agree

That's also my thoughts for the msi claw.
oh man the claw right? Jesus... lol I said I was never gonna use Intel again XD they really messed up... even more than the ligion go unfortunately
This will kill consoles imo... Once ppl can emulate things that's it rip... Xbox are killing there console... PlayStation is the last one standing

It's Asus and they will reveal and reengineer per year like they do with laptops. I bet you'll be fine with the X!
i dont see the issue on whether its called the X or 2.

Asus promotes 4k 60 and 1080p 120 out to external screen. So they should be good.

@NoonMight I still love the rog ally ..no regrets...just gonna change out the ssd ...because they make it so easy.
but how does it charge and display when it only has one type C port
use dock that support power delivery
Baseus USB C Hub Type C. it has USB ports / HDMI / type c Power

The rog ally x will solve this problem, it comes with double battery capacity.
Can it stream while gaming in OBS? please do a tutorial please....
Can you charge it at the same time you have it connected to evrithin whit the extensions ?
Yes and steam deck is limited to the os for games

USB c cable
