  • Welcome to Part 2! In this video, I am cruising around South Dakota on my Royal Enfield Himalayan! Today's activities include Mount Rushmore, The Needles Highway, Iron Mountain Road, and a 439-mile ride back home through the countryside of South Dakota and Wyoming, with a 2-hour long rain shower in Colorado to end the day. What an awesome day of adventure! This trip was motorcycling at its finest.

Good stuff. If you ever pass through Cheyenne again, look me up. One minor suggestion. Even if I didn't own a 2020 Himalayan, I could memorize the "cockpit view" after 3 minutes of footage. Raising your camera angle just a few degrees might let your audience appreciate the skyline and surrounding terrain a bit more. Wish I could have gotten 49 bucks an hour for my passenger butt time in helicopters, during my 20 year career as a Medic and Missile Site Manager in Colorado, Montana, Nebraska, and Wyoming. I could have paid for the Mosko Moto 80 Revolver that I'm still saving for. 😎

I had a new mount and didn’t account for how much I would have to duck in the strong winds. Test ride around the neighborhood had it about the right angle. Not so much at 65 + 20 mph headwind. Thanks for watching

Cool! Thanks for the peek at Mount Rushmore, and Needles Eye Tunnel but missed Crazy Horse - where is that?

That was a long day in the saddle. How was your backside when you'd finished? Any chance of a link and opinion for the spotlights you've fitted to your bike?

Wasn't too bad. every time I stopped for gas I tried to walk for about 5 minutes, down the block and back. Doesn't add a ton of time to the trip, but was good to get circulation going again. The lights are just the cheapest ATV/Jeep auxiliary lights they had at Walmart. There was no included mounting so I had to jerry-rig it, they aren't the most stable but they put out a ton of light. Hardest part is keeping them aimed - the vibrations just wiggle them around. If I can find some better mounts I will make a video on them.

I’m picking up my 2021 Himalayan next weekend in Spearfish, SD. Just curious to know how your Himalayan is holding up; any serious issues? I was going back and forth between the Himalayan and the new CRF300L Rally but, finally decided on the Himi!

Amazing video! That looked like a great ride! How did the Himalayan do on the major highways? Keep these great videos coming!

Not so well. Near the end of the video when I am getting back on the highway in Cheyenne, It took about 3 miles to get from 50 mph to 65 mph - a little nerve wracking on such a fast highway. It was just a long continuous hill for a while. I prefer to stick to the side roads, but was ready to get home - and traffic was light so no big deal. Once up to speed 70-75 you're still the slowest person on the highway, but not by much so a little less pucker factor. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the video. The wife and I went the same way a few years ago. Erm ... next time, less Himalayan handlebars and more tree and mountain tops please.

Thanks, I agree! I thought I had the angle set right on my helmet mount...didn't account for ducking my head in the wind. I have a new mount on the way and will have the angle set higher in future videos.

After this video, my life got fairly complicated and busy the rest of the summer. Then winter happened, and winter seems to be holding on for dear life where I live. Will probably start uploading again soon! Thanks for watching
