Cherry MX2A Reds and Silent Reds RGB Switches | Stock vs Modded

  • ✍🏼 Introduction
    Hello friends!
    Taking a look at the RGB MX2A switches from Cherry. I take a look at their internals and compare their typing sounds stock vs modded.
    I also show my process of lubing these switches.
    I think stock, the reds sounded to tinny and the silents were not silent enough. Though, neither had spring ping due to the factory lube.
    I'm not sure how noticeable it is on the video but lubing and filming made a huge difference to the sound of both (silents became actually silent) and reds sounded slightly more fuller.
    I will make a follow up video of the Red switches in other keyboards to give an idea on how they can sound in different configurations.
    I personally feel if someone picks up the RGB MX2A Reds, a deep sounding, foamy board might be the best suited for it. Clacky boards might not sound as full as they would with another switch.
    Anyway those are my thoughts.

    Lube: Krytox 205g0 on stems, Krytox 106 on springs

    Stabilizers: TX Stabs (not sure about lubing as they were prepared by someone else)

    do the stock silent reds have scratch? (i enjoy the scratch)

    what is the spring length of MX2A red? MX2A black has different spring length with MX black.

      None of Cherry's datasheets specify that 😕 I'd have to measure to get an idea
