Aphelios isn't hard to play, I'm not an adc main nor do i even play aphelios that much, but you really just need to know what his weapon's abilities do and try to use them for specific situations correctly

By the time of his release, you can only see his main gun unlike today where you can know what his off hand weapon is. Also his ultimate has longer range ig and it also unnoticeable unlike today. The champion is also new so they're having a hard time guessing what he does in a teamfight. He recieves nerf after nerf after nerf to achieve his current state which is not optimal for climbing unless your an apheliis otp.

He's not very complicated, you just need to know what his 5 guns do, what order to use them, and that landing an ability hits them with your offhand gun and applies it's ability affect. After that easy or hard, idk, I'm new, but he's not that complicated.

It was even worse since the auto consumed on the mark also counts towards runaans bolts, causing extremely oppressive AOE poke.
