On models with keyless ignition, if the ign fuse is out it will throw a mil control code too. Symptom is the remote start does not function but the car starts / runs fine.

I worked at a dealership for a bit where one of the cars had an air bag problem and instead of spending money to fix it the owner had the mechanic turn off the airbag light off completely.
Always make sure the cluster lights turn on at the accessory position.

amr hamed yea me as well. I didnt even thing about positive power feed to the led. Since all the other lights seemed to be working.

Good video, always frustrating to find a missing fuse...especially when you have something else in mind. Then there's the other factor when it comes from another shop, because you'd think it would have been addressed already...either way you got it fixed!
Good video regardless, showing how the bulb CKT works and using bi-directional control to toggle it's ground side control on and off!
Thank you very much for stopping by. Yea, I just didn’t pay too much attention to a fuse just because all the lights other then the engine light came on. So It just didn’t cross my mind. But like you said I got fixed. Did you see the first part series i this one with the maf sensor fault ?
@@OzMechanics no not yet, I'm going to watch that next. Yeah I understand completely trust me, chased an issue on many cars with an issue only to find out that the customer had removed a fuse and was nice enough to tell me after the fact. Sometimes going to the fuse first is not always how we approach it, but in the end it gets found...lol...makes us just think...WTF...then we wonder why it was removed.
Hello, great video! I have a 2004 Hummer H2 and my engine light comes on and if I tap the dash it goes off! The only code I have on my reader is p0650 just like you had! What do you think I should do to tackle this sucker out? Thank you

Good video. That’s why I like to look at voltage on the wire. With a meter or scope hooked up on that brown/white wire there should be voltage when the computer isn’t commanding the light on and grounding the circuit. Making it a habit to always look at voltage can quickly point to issues like this. A test light hooked to positive shows the computer control but does nothing to show the 12v it’s supposed to be pulling to ground.
All that for a fuse. Gezzz. But we got to learn something. I like that you add the animations, it helps me to follow along. I just purchased a used car and when I put the scanner on it the owner got nervous. Not because he was hiding something but because he didn't know what i was doing. I found it kind of funny. By the way, the car only had one minor code for the entertainment system. :)
wyattoneable a really didn’t think it was going to be the fuse. Especially that most all the lights were working on the cluster. It was a cool case study
Wow you just helped me realize what the brown and white wire thats cut in the used jeep i bought and check engine hasnt worked and im willing to bet the wire i kept wondering what it went to is for that smh

I have a question not related to this video, but a past video. It's related to a possible radiator problem. My serpentine belt snapped and my engine overheated. Replaced the serpentine belt already. Refilled the coolant reservoir. Actually let out a little air from the bleeding side too. However, I'm getting this slight misty smoke coming from the bottom part of the radiator. I can't spot any physical leaks. It may be a really slow leak though. No visible drop in coolant in reservoir tank either. Could this light smoke be caused by the leftover spilled coolant smoking /evaporating due to the heat of the engine?? Thank you in advance for your time.
Hook up a radiator pressure tester and test for leaks

I have 2010 gmc that has catalytic converter codes but check engine light isn't comming on. I don't see any fuses for it. What controls the light. When I start the car all the dash lights come on except the check engine light.

What could be the issue if the check engine light is not working? No check engine even after turning on the key, that is no light before engine is on and after engine on.

Yea that is what I was thinking. It’s just crazy when I first looked at the cluster all the lights were working. That’s why it never crossed my mind it was a fuse. And by the way I just saw G Lopez last week. He was funnnnnnnnnnny

So it has a couple other issues that lit the MIL and they pulled the fuse to turn it out. NOOOO a "dealer" would never do that... (In NY they wouldn't as it's an automatic fail on the inspection)

Ahhh! The old removed fuse! Probably had a MIL on due to the MAF and the fuse was removed to get rid of the money light. Did the owner purchase the vehicle recently?

Yea for some reason some people complain about piercing.
I have seen a few instrument clusters from car yards with the MIL light globe removed or even black tape over the Money Indicator Lamp lol
