I'm sorry I was not more clear about the direction I took and why in this video. I truly felt going into this job (fuel pump running continuously and a no com, that we had a shorted reference circuit (I've seen it many times). Then with me teaching a class of 20 students while live troubleshooting, I got tunnel vision. But these procedure shown are super important to know how to do as 99% of people are lost after checking fuses. What do you do when the fuses are good? "Must be a bad engine computer"...nope, it sure isn't :-)
So I will say this again, yes, I should have started with fuses, but do yourself a favor and watch the shorted MAP sensor video and you will have a better understanding. No Start from a shorted MAP sensor (Honda, Acura) ruclips.net/video/za13UnpbH7E/видео.html
I’m a DIY guy with a decent arsenal of troubleshooting equipment. I work on all our cars (2 that are over 200k miles and a truck at 150k) plus help a lot of friends/family. Stumbled across your videos working on one of our vehicles and have watched a lot since then. Sometimes I find myself saying “Why doesn’t he just.....?” but then I remind myself that you’re teaching systems and processes and concepts rather than a specific procedure. I actually think some of your best videos are like this where you get to a fault taking a little round-about path because it shows more of the whole picture. Someone at home might have been inclined to chase why the fuel pump was running full time and they would have eventually gotten to powers/grounds at the computer, found the fuse, and then (hopefully) looked for the cause of the fuse burning out. It’s not direct, but it’s not necessarily wrong either.
I have a 96 buick roadmaster with a 5.7l v8. I recently lost all fuel pressure. I've replaced the fuel assembly, fuel pump, regulator and relay. I'm still not getting any pressure. I can hear the relay and pump cut on when I turn the key but still no pressure. Please help scanner danner. I've tried to find a mechanic but everyone keeps turning me away. Do you know of anyone in the Houston area that can help me???. Please help scanner danner.
@@htownandre7385 you can hear the pump? When you replaced the pump, was it the entire assembly or you pieced just the electric motor into the fuel pump assembly?
@@ScannerDanner pump runs fine. I pulled the return line off the regulator and jumped the pump get plenty fuel shooting out the return valve of the regulator. This is the 2nd regulator I've tried this week. Still 0 pressure. What the hell is going on
@@ScannerDanner what's really crazy is that if I press the gas pedal on a crank I can get it to run at a very low idle but still no fuel pressure reading
Well, this was supposed to be released tomorrow at noon, not today lol. Hope you enjoyed it. Way more time than you think was spent on making this video
We appreciate your efforts!
I remember the long version of this video years ago. I'm getting old.
We both are my friend!
@@ScannerDanner my car i20 has a SDVC function. Is this signal coming from the vss speed sensor? How to locate the wire??
One thing to keep in mind, unplugging a sensor assumes the short is in the sensor. This video showed us that a harness can be shorted as well. Unplugging the sensor would not have caught that. However, checking the fuses would have pointed a technician in the right direction eventually. Thank you for the awesome videos you provide us with Danner!
"Heat and vibration". Something I learned from you a long time ago. It sticks in my head everytime I look for a wiring issue. :)
It holds true time and time again, doesn't it? Thanks Wyatt!
facts chrstler and there electrical shit smh
Mr. Danner, thank you for all the knowledge you share with us! You’re a great teacher, and I look forward to all the videos you have made and future uploads.
I found this video several years ago and it saved my butt. I had exact problem on my 96 JGC. It died at gas station. Would not start after gas fill. Had it towed to my home. I had shorted 5VDC at Ox sensor. Video helped me find the problem. I have been a subscriber every since. Thanks for your efforts.
Your enthusiasm and teaching methods are infectious great viewing.
Instead of cutting a perfectly fine wire, why don’t you remove the pin bushing from the connector housing with the appropriate terminal removal tool and simply push the pin pushing back into the connector housing when done? It takes only a few seconds. That’s how I work. Other than that, you have a real gift of teaching. I learned a lot from you.
Thank you! You guys are amazing! I've been getting so much info from you Paul! You can't even imagine how much progress I have made in my technical career, access to proper automotive technical education in my country is non existent! Thank so much!!!! God bless you and Caleb an Kristin and your brother Danner and all your Family members! This short tutorials are amazing! Keep up the good work! You are my motivation to perhaps become a automotive technical teacher in my home country.
Thanks so much!
Thanks for being there for us, we really appreciate your help and support 🙏
This is a really cool idea. I like that you correct yourself too (saying you should've checked fuses first). Hope to see more videos done this way.
Paul, I am loving this quick tip series. Keep up the good work and thank you for all the valuable information.
Glad to hear it!
Am in Kenya and have learned alot from you,,i now have confidence in my work
This is a good informative video. Thanks for sharing it. I am sure you spent a lot of time on it. One thing to also note is that without the proper service information a person would have an impossible time trying to find and fix this problem.
I got confused because I watched this video sometime back yet it was showing a day ago(today 02/05/2020). Im always thrilled how you handle issues. With your steps I'm pretty certain your class is so lucky. I wish I was one of your students. Danner, stay home, stay safe I need you for many years to come.
Super good. I like the new, shorter format. Your longer videos still have a very important place too! Don't stop!
An awesome case study👍
Thanks SD
&
Thanks Caleb😉
Stay safe Guy's❤
Paul, Love the added example of the shorted map sensor at the end! I like to physically see what the electricity is doing. Really puts the whole video in perspective. I have been watching your videos for a long time man. You have helped me through some super tough jobs, keep up the good work !
Thank you Max
I remember that video. I have watched almost all your vids. Great stuff!! Excellent edumacation.
Visual inspection for the win, thank you Paul for all the hard work and inspiration. I still refer to your E-book regularly.
Awesome, thank you!
That was an awesome video, I was able to predict what you guys were going to do next step by step, because I’ve been learning from your of other videos ,This stuff is actually starting to stick in my brain Thank you for being such a great teacher Paul ,It really means a lot to me
That is awesome! Thanks so much for sharing
Wow love your clips, i deal with electronics on machines all the time and didn't know the 5v reference, i work underground in the North where electrical circuits go bad often.i have watched quite a bit of your clips and learned a lot thx and keep up the good work👍
Thanks for your great videos . I really enjoy learn so much from you.
You guys make a great team. Caleb's window shut down. Nice. And of course the videos are great. Thanks again.
Quick tip series the best. Thanks a lot.
Excellent information as always. Good job!
Great Job Paul n Caleb!! Keepem coming!
Thank you for the tips, my 96 Grand Cherokee 5.2 died on me going down the street, no spark. When I started the car that day I could hear the fuel pump running which I never heard it run that loud before. I'll be running those test tomorrow. 👍❤🇺🇸
LOVE THIS VIDEO , I HOPE THERE WILL BE MORE LIKE THIS IN THE FUTURE . WOULD ALSO LIKE TO SEE SOME TESTING SPECS LIKE OHMS AND AMP'S THAT WOULD GENERALLY APPLY FOR ANY VEHICLE FOR IGNITION COIL , INJECTOR , RELAY , FUEL PUMP , SOLENOIDS AND FAN MOTORS . IF POSSIBLE WITH THE DIFFERENT TESTS SHOWING HOW TO TEST THEM . THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR TIME AND CONTINUED EFFORTS .
Wow!!'what a find.! Thanks for this shortened video sir!
Thanks for this video . You're the best mechanic teacher in RUclips.i like watching your videos.
Thanks mohamed!
Loved the 5v ref voltage teaching. Helps me with my 2001 Ram 1500 4x4 sensors.
Great to hear! Thank you
This was HUGELY helpful! Thanks!
Between you and eric. O I've learned alot about electrical diag. I learned the basics when I worked at a dealership, but you've taught me alot about how to diag without a diagram.
My brothers side by side wouldn't start , when I jumped it the battery voltage is around 11 volts at idle. I Googled it and saw that the voltage regulators sometimes go bad but I didn't want to load the parts cannon without being sure....I tested the stator, 18v,17v,16v good, I tested the voltage regulator 16v good. I didn't have a battery tester but you better believe I ordered one after that. Thank you and hello from Indiana county.
Good stuff as usual Professor.
Happy Motoring.
Great fundamental lessons,thank u mr danner👍
Excellent sir thank you so much
The way that you explain is so beautiful and again thank you so much sir
Yup, that's around the time I started watching, and being inspired by, you! Thanks!

I think you have found your tag team partner in Caleb! His comments peppered throughout your updates make all the difference in the world!! You play the straight man while he provides the zingers!!
no question! Thank you, I will tell Caleb too :-)
I have watched several of your vids...this is one your best...this will work on anything awesome
Thank you! Just replied to your other question too. We need to make sure your distributor is actually turning too
@@ScannerDanner I forgot to throw that information in there I pulled the distributor cap and I grab the rotor make sure it didn't have too much slack and make sure it wasn't broken and then I crank it with a distributor cap open and it did turn just fine so that was okay and this this Motors only got seventy thousand miles on it runs perfectly until just shut off like flipping a switch while idling at gas pump during a trip
I have ohm my new crank sensor just in case..its good..im looking for burnt or pinched wires...this is a head scratcher..
I remember this one! Going back a ways there. I've lost track of how long I've been subbed to you! Think over 5 years now. Yikes ... that went by quick! Great stuff, Paul, and nice work editing, Caleb - this couldn't have been a quick and easy edit!
It wasn't! Thanks Smitty, we are all getting old haha
ScannerDanner - Ain’t it the truth, brother!
Great diag and summary brotha! -FixItPhillip
8:40, I have that same short circuit tester and it works like a champ. Back in the day I used it to find a short in the courtesy light circuit in my 1988 F-150. I was going to say I was surprised the harness was routed that way and then I saw the very end of the video, LOL.
I want too say thank you Mr scanner danner..I needed this video. I have a crank no spark no start.an I know I have a 5v problem..I. Wish I could get your book but I can't afford it but I love your videos..
Love your videos! Finally bought your book. Damn what a good investment!

Sooo great video!!!!
AWSOME video
Very good when l was inspecting vechicles yrs
ago l would spend around 20 mins going round inspecting the harnesses
Even when there wasant
an electrical fault, many a time a would find wires rubbing through, by finding
These and repairing them
Saved a breakdown at road
side and it could save a lot of electrical damage.
Good Morning ScannerDanner 🙏 🌄 have a great day and take care ScannerDanner

You're awesome!!!
You are the best thanks
Good stuff.
You are the best
Good job my friend
Yep...you got it! I personally Hate Cutting Wires if I don't HAVE TOO! It just Introduces another Failure Point to the System... IMHO
Great video & in depth 🤌
