Thanks for this wonderful video. I feel 9 th point is very near to my heart as peace ful and stable mind is foundation for every thing and this is gained by solitude
No. 9 is my job. I try to achieve regular meditation, but let myself be distracted by life again and again, but I know that meditation is good for me. I keep working on myself.
1. Generate peace by proper thinking, speaking and acting. 2. Don’t be choosy in what you eat. The purpose of food is to sustain the body, not to indulge in pleasure and fun. 3. Give up bad habits and develop good habits. 4. Think where and how you can do better. 5. Look at your conduct from the outside, from an ideal point of view. 6. Ask yourself, “How much more do I need?” You won’t be able to take all your possessions to the grave. 7. Remember about Karma. For every action there is a reaction even if no one sees you, and good actions bring positive results. 8. Think what good you have done today. Don’t forget that time is passing. Train yourself fast because our lifetime is limited. Do what is good now. 9. Live peacefully and quietly physically and mentally. Like you clean your body with a shower every day, set aside time for meditation in order to clear your mind from fear, worry, anger and other emotions. Let them settle down. This will allow you to see yourself, other people and the situation clearly and save you from trouble, chaos and conflicts. Be by yourself and let your mind rest even for a short while. 10. Improve your meditation each day. The goal is to train your mind to see yourself, other people and things clearly, to see the reality. The tool for this is meditation. Your mind should be peaceful. You should calm yourself from inside out, develop yourself. To become a loving, kind and compassionate person genuinely, your mind should be peaceful, bright and positive. Slowing down, getting still, looking at how you’re living, what you’re doing, coming to a stop, seeing things for what they are, becoming conscious, mindful and aware is a key to success. Otherwise, you’ll be always reacting the same way you used to.
I was once that person that always needed something on like the radio, television, RUclips etc even while sleeping. Once I started meditating I realized what was happening and I’m so much more at peace now
Hello from Scotland Diana, I wanted to tell you I wish I had read The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod when I was your age (although I wasn't as smart as you trying to build great habits at your age!) But I did at 40 and it was so simple I don't know why these things aren't taught in school!!! There is one especially for Teenagers. Check it out. Luv, Jane (PS I have nothing to do with this book, it just changed my life and saw your post and thought you might like to hear about it)
Hi Diana, I am also from Scotland. I am in my 70s and I am guided by Buddhist teachings. I wish I had learnt about this when I was a teenager. Enjoy your study and practise 🙏
I’m always so impressed when teenagers (and I teach them) actually have the self awareness/motivation etc. to improve themselves in such ways. I definitely was not there mentally as a teen.
Yes, these concepts should be taught in public schools. Note the origins of Western society -and many other societies - public schools - FACTORIES- continuance to present day - Govts, Corps, certain others - want schools to generate Population following FEAR - Instead of Employing MINDFUNESS, INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATION. I totally agree no amounts of words can express our gratitude. You are an amazing speaker with tons of hidden virtues and wisdoms. Thank you for sharing. I wonder how many people’s soul u lifts up. Your speech is so crystal clear that we feel like listening to it Over and over again. Bless you 🙏🙏🙏
"The mind is the lens to the outside world". These words will stay with me, and they make so much sense. With a pure mind - or clear lens, we can see the world for what it is. Thank you, Ven. Nick.
I'm very grateful for your channel. I've been wanting to quit my job quite a while because I'm not happy. My husband has some concerns but overall said I should do what I want. I wasn't able to make that final move and have been living in depression. I blamed it all on my husband, my job, my boss. Today something hit me. I am not living in alignment with my truth. I thought I'm doing it for others. But what I really should do is align my thoughts with my speech and action. I couldn't make the call to quit just now, but I decided to change my priorities. Instead of putting the job that's making me miserable first, I'm going to put what's truly important for me first.
Venerable Nick, just LOOK at all these fabulous thanks for presenting this way of life. How much and how well you have affected these people and many more. Tonight when you ask yourself if you have lived up to the ideals of influencing others positively, the answer will be YES!
I love all about the food and the community helping out the Monks and vice-versa, and yes it's very special and a Blessing no matter what food they receive, they are just so grateful and thankful to the people and to life. It's the way so beautiful.
Venerable Nick, as the Day breaks, at my end in France, i’am meditating with your teachings, at the sound of your voice. It is a blessing to hear this presepts .i love your thought about carving out time to clean the mind, and learn to for stillness in life. And ibid you a nice afternoon. . Greetings from France. Didier
The first talk of yours I listened to today you were in California and this one you are in Thailand where I moved 23 years ago from Boulder, Colorado where I left my Sangha created by Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche who was a Tibetan and taught from the Hiniyana, Mahayana to the Vajrayana in his temple Dorje Dzong. Listened to many Tibetan great teachers who came and taught after Chogyams death, wonderful Rinpoches that I was lucky enough to listen to. Plus I love listening to your teaching thank you very much, Peace, and Love!
Thank you for your gift of spiritual teaching! If more people saw your videos and applied your teaching to their lives, we would have a much better world.
I'm like addicted to your channel now... I find myself keep wanting to watch it sometimes more than once... Watching your vids Is like meditation just like the previous comment said... So much wisdom. Thank you so much. 🤗🤗
I have the feeling that I have lost touch with something higher and I am impatiently looking for it. You help me to find pieces of the puzzle and to exercise patience. A difficult task for me. I thank you for the teachings.
Thank you brother. As a Christian, I interpreted your reflection questions for my own use. This is a prayerful and nourishing practice. Evening Reflection Questions 1. How were my thoughts, speech, actions? Alignment? Congruent? 2. Was I grateful for my blessings and not choosy for how blessings show up? Have I used my necessities with care and consideration or have I been wasteful? 3. What can I do to improve my conduct? What bad habits should I let go of? What good habits would benefit me? 4. How can I live tomorrow more like Christ? How can I submit my heart, mind, body, and soul to God’s will? How well have I lived the 10 commandments? 5. How can I love others tomorrow as I love myself? 6. How was I too attached today? What do I need to let go of attachment? How did I focus on Jesus more than my attachments? 7. How did I sin today? Confess and thank God for forgiveness through the death of Jesus Christ. 8. How was I the hands and feet of Christ helping others and reflecting His love to others? 9. If I died tonight, what legacy will I leave behind from today? 10. How was my mindfulness and meditative practice today? Was I present
I believe I had an awakening a couple of years ago. I felt I didn't belong on earth and questioned everything around me. I have always experienced spiritual experiences since I was young but before my awakening it intensified. I was Christian at the time and attending church. I then saw a Buddhist temple on my way home as the top of the head was sticking through the trees ,that's what caught my eye. I pulled in and sat there for hours. I was mesmerised and finally my mind was at peace. I felt at home. I have learnt all I can about Buddhism and this is now my way of life. Everyday I am grateful for everything big or small and I try to reflect that towards others. Life is so simple for me now and more fulfilling. Thank you for you're wisdom today.

Dear Ven. Nick: listening to U every day first thing in the morning, makes me start my day with a feeling that my heart was soothed and some more poison evaporated. So I am able to begin my day stronger and more able to face myself and the world, as is. I am a person with a "cracked" heart, with broken parts in it and in myself, ever since I remember myself. meeting U , is not virtual for me.It is a real experience of meeting a healing energy, your energy, that across space and time, helps me in my efforts to feel less pain. Thank U so much for your kindness and generosity. They work.
When I spend time watching a video I’m looking for upliftment, inspiration, information and mostly the kindness and compassion of the one speaking. You have it all - I always know what my time spent with you will be 💚🙏
My dear friend, I blessed being here in the gym and listening to your teachings. Thank you so much for sharing. My day has been over blessed. Strong hug and love to you my friend.
Thank you so much Ven.Nick for your wisdom and this valuable teaching. I escpecially like point no.3 and 9: training ourselves to reduce our bad habits and try to have a quiet peaceful time to reflect/meditate. I have been practicing meditation for about a year now. That truly changes my life, it helps me to stay calmer, centered and grounded. I was on sleeping pills and anxiety meds for years, but after doing meditation, now I no longer need those pills to sleep anymore 🙏
Which resonates?...ALL! Thank you for this sharing. As a senior person, I have heard so much of the wisdom you share. But you are helping me gather my learning & helping to guide me in a grander way. I am working diligently on my abuse toward food & how I use it disrespectfuly & have suffered w morbid obesity b/c of it. Gladly, I have journied more than half way to gaining respect for my body by eating in a better, a more respectful way. Today I am using the info on food & eating to encourage me to continue on my journey. Your guidence & sharing is helping me to make best decisions to play my part in sharing my life purpose w the world. I am thankful for you! Bless Ven. Nick!

Hi Ven. Nick, I just want to say thank you for all the teachings you share with us. I am learning so much from you as a lay person and I am deeply grateful 🙏
I love everything that you share about life and it's meaning. Thank you dear venerable Nick. You are the best. Hope to see you in person someday soon again.
G-d bless you, and THANK YOU. I am a social worker/therapist, and have been on the “path” for many many years. Thank you for nourishing our lives and providing us w/ sustenance. We will pay it forward, and we love you!❤️🌹
Thanks, monk. We need to hear more of you. Stuff is not what we need. We need love and contentment. Shopping is wasting money. One is never content shopping. We always end up wishing more.
Yes, life is short. One day we're here, the next ..... gone 😞. No one knows when. I agree, we need to make the most out of the time given to us. Do good unto others (even when no one is watching), exercise our mind by meditating to clear our minds, be appreciative of every little things that comes our way, stay positive. Peace, love, and genuine happiness comes from the inside 💌 Thanks Nick !!!
I think the 6th reminder I was able to grasp the most. We are not infinite beings, our time will come. We cannot take any of these physical possessions with us onto our next journey, but what stays in this world is the good that we do for others, the smiles and laughs we give to others. When you die, no one will speak about how much money you made, or what you owned, rather, they will remember you for the good that you brought upon their lives. We need to humble ourselves, and remember that we are not timeless.
I love that you share your daily practices. It reminds me to focus on calm and to allow myself to feel better about what my focus is each morning and reflect on what I've accomplished each evening! Blessings all around 🙏
Wonderful Teachings As I'm doing the washing up I listen but also am Mindful that my mind is not focused on either Which teaches me, that I am not being Mindful. Which guides me. Thank You
Thank you Reverend Nick! U came to my life when I was at the lowest point. Thank you for another wonderful video. They are much appreciated. I love finding new ways to practice living with intention. Your words are also very soothing and comforting. Please take care. 🙏🏽
So grateful for Your teachings - gentle reminders* Resonate with all 10 B-) keep improving * * * * * You have a beautiful smile and explain things so simply so that we can apply it to our lives*
Ven Nick, I have written gratitude lists before and somehow "Today...." seems to result in ease and delight in doing this, calling these 'gratitudes' to mind. Yes, stillness, slowing down. It is work, and not easy. Old habits of self-aggression, a mind that spins stories of retribution, seeing the habitual defensive and warring posture. Speediness, greediness. Suffering creating more suffering. Your speaking of becoming a monk from the inside: I ask myself more frequently, what do I want to create-more suffering? For myself or another? (I feel the fact that I can even remember to ask myself what my intention is is no trivial step-regardless of how well or clumsily executed.) More practice, with compassion. Thank you, with a grateful heart-
I remember years ago I was a personal trainer and the gym was my everything. I loved it so much. During this time, my relationship with food was very healthy. I enjoyed my meals but I ate only to nourish the body. I looked at food very differently then.
Thank you so much Venerable Nick. These pointers are excellent reminders and are extremely helpful on my path. Notes duly taken :) I see them as a beautiful cycle of "Attention - gratitude- reflection - intention - attention " :)
What stood out to me is to take time to notice our patterns of thinking and behaving so that we can stop the cycles that are hindering us from becoming genuinely loving, kind human beings. To have a bright, clear and peaceful mind.
Thank you, Nick! I guess what resonates with me the most is to constantly remind myself to not complain about what God serves in my plate and to consider it with care and tenderness. It is the epitome of the "attitude of gratitude". Also, I love how this video talks about how we should fixate on our thinking, speaking, and behaving. Hearts for everyone!
This times we live in, i dont need to travel to Thailand and spend hours searching to get this great opportunity to listen and be advised by such a wise man. Thank you for your videos, time and energy you put into helping others to develop themselves.
Thank you so much for sharing this. I´m learning so much with your videos, I´m still in the beggining of my path and I chose you as my teacher. So much gratitude for you. Thank you very much all the way from Brazil.

Thank U so much for your kindness and generosity. They work.
Aww thank you so much Dina! I’m glad it’s helpful and sending you my blessings my friend 😊😊😊
Thankyou…hope we all have a happy and mindful day 💛🦋
When I spend time watching a video I’m looking for upliftment, inspiration, information and mostly the kindness and compassion of the one speaking. You have it all - I always know what my time spent with you will be 💚🙏

Thank u venarabel Nik suwamin wahanse🙏🙏🙏sadhu sadhu sadhu Budu Saranayi
Thank you so much Ven.Nick for your wisdom and this valuable teaching. I escpecially like point no.3 and 9: training ourselves to reduce our bad habits and try to have a quiet peaceful time to reflect/meditate. I have been practicing meditation for about a year now. That truly changes my life, it helps me to stay calmer, centered and grounded. I was on sleeping pills and anxiety meds for years, but after doing meditation, now I no longer need those pills to sleep anymore 🙏
Much Love from the United States. Can’t think you enough.
Aww thank you so much 😊

Listening on Saturday morning for encouragement...thank you for sharing these wisdom.
Oh wonderful my friend! Thank you 😊
Yes, life is short.
One day we're here, the next ..... gone 😞. No one knows when.
I agree, we need to make the most out of the time given to us. Do good unto others (even when no one is watching), exercise our mind by meditating to clear our minds, be appreciative of every little things that comes our way, stay positive.
Peace, love, and genuine happiness comes from the inside 💌
Thanks Nick !!!
Thank you 🙏 Also, I loved the roosters in the background 😄
You’re welcome 😊
Love you Nick! So many times I’ve wanted to talk to monks but was apprehensive so you’re answering all my questions and helping me in my routine 🙏💗
Wonderful. sadhu sadhu. thank you so much 🙂🙂🙂
I think the 6th reminder I was able to grasp the most.
Thank you so much for this incredible video. This was so helpful.
Glad it was helpful! 😊
I love the sound of the rooster crowing in the background. It’s the perfect calming accompaniment to your words of wisdom! 🌻🐓

Thank you so much for your kind words Natasha 😊
Thank you, with a grateful heart-
Wonderful Regina! keep up the great work :)
Thank you Thailand from Arizona
sadhu sadhu. thank you so much Diane 🙂🙂🙂
I remember years ago I was a personal trainer and the gym was my everything. I loved it so much. During this time, my relationship with food was very healthy. I enjoyed my meals but I ate only to nourish the body. I looked at food very differently then.
Wonderful Jayson :)
Thank you for introducing me to the Buddhism and the teachings of the training of the mind it's helping me tremendously thank you Nick
You’re welcome! I’m glad it’s helpful 😊
Thank you for these videos Nick!! This is very helpful now. I’m sending love to you and everyone in your monastery. ❤️
sadhu sadhu. thank you so much Diane 🙂🙂🙂 we appreciate your loving kindness.
Honarable Keomahavong,Sadhu,Sadhu,Sadhu….Respect.
Wonderful Justine :)
This times we live in, i dont need to travel to Thailand and spend hours searching to get this great opportunity to listen and be advised by such a wise man. Thank you for your videos, time and energy you put into helping others to develop themselves.
