      Expert raw gives you 16bit, I found the dynamic range better than pro and regular camera, not sure why expert RAW is not included in camera app
      Portrait mode is near perfect with good edge detection (updates will make better with time) just lower ISO if the phones tries to brighten up and use RAW format. For Landscape use Expert Raw, Portrait use Portrait mode, Selfies Night mode but if near too much light use regular camera as Expert Raw doesnt use selfie (missed opportunity)

    So nice seeing a phone photography video that isn't the iPhone. I have the S20 Ultra and it has a decent camera but I feel like it over sharpens the images, especially foliage. And it seems like all the good camera apps are for iPhone only. So I usually just use the phone for snapshots. I'm not planning to upgrade for another year or two but have been pondering whether to stick with Samsung or jump to the iPhone so it's nice seeing what the S22 can do.

    Brent, your composing skills are superb, and no better proving ground than a desert. For that really special lucky/amazing shot that I might want to send to an HQ photo printer, I'm wondering about the 108 vs 12MP resolution and 9:1 pixel binning in regards to how big a print I could expect to make and have real fine details preserved. Can 108MP images be saved in pro or RAW mode? This will also inform me on the amount of on board storage to purchase, though 256G is my floor. thanks!

I noticed in this video you have the iso at an a12 or a40 at different times and I tried playing with it but I can't seem to get it lower to that number;is there a setting im not selecting to get it to be more flexible with range or something (my question really is how ). Also do you ever feel that it would be necessary for an nd filter for the daylight photos seeing that it was as bright and everything came out phenomenal. Would it even be necessary for an nd on the s22? Thankyouuuu!!!!

    It's a beautiful phone to own as a photographer. I've had mine for a few days and haven't really pushed the camera too hard yet but it's certainly impressive enough to keep up with my pro gear for social/lower res work that isn't being looked at closely. The computational work on the images is something else too! The HDRs look extremely good and somewhat natural

      Yes nearly as good as my old fuji cameras x-t1, stunned by the s22 sensors and possible editing on a raw photo by a smartphone.

    Does it have any handheld long exposure modes? I'm looking for something to replace my P30 Pro but the tech doesn't seem to have moved along in 3 years .

    • @donnawetter1513
      @donnawetter1513 2 года назад

      Samsung's software is way superior to the one Huawei has, it can store settings and even remember the mode you used when reopening the app (crazy right, some would that those are basic functions, but not Huawei), it even stores exposure settings independently for all 4 cameras. No handheld long exposure. But it also starts faster than Huawei's app.

      Yes, you can definitely edit both photos and videos on your phone. I've never edited videos on a phone, but I hear Adobe Premiere Rush is pretty decent for it. Lightroom mobile does a pretty good job for editing the raw images from the phones.

      When it comes out and I have one...I have to buy my phones like everyone else. I don't get early review units, and I can only review what I can afford. Verizon says my S23 U should be here on the 17th, so I'll start working on videos with it as soon as I get it.

    I found the 108 megapixel camera on the Galaxy S22 Ultra to be mainly a gimmick. The 12 megapixel sensor takes so much better quality pictures.

    • @swigga69
      @swigga69 2 года назад +1

      Yes i find that too, but i think it will be better with a fix soon... there isn't much sharpness and detail with the 108mp camera at the moment. My note20ultra 108mp had more detail ...

      @@swigga69 The 108 megapixel camera is mainly used for bright light situations, but that even has it limitations.

    • @TrailsToTuryia
      @TrailsToTuryia 2 года назад +1

      Completely agreed before I even snapped a photo as there is 9:1 pixel binning so in actuality the 12MP image that gets saved is lower res than the 12MP ones from the 50MP sensor on the S22 and S22 plus. Unless pixel-binning is totally legit, but that is likely a long and technical discussion with various opinions above my head. Smells gimmicky to me, just my uneducated hunch.

      @@TrailsToTuryia So far the only thing I found useful about the 108 megapixel sensor is when I take pictures of equipment in bright sunlight people can zoom in better to inspect that equipment better remotely.

    Found this video by complete chance and my oh my! those are gorgeous shots, but don't compare 3x with anything cause it is the worst lens of the bunch.
    and i believe that this might be the Snapdragon version right? I've shot numerous photos on my S21U in the past year and ordered S22U but haven't got it yet and unfortunately it's Exynos and due to my experience even the worse flip3 sensors look better in some scenarios due to the ISP.
    I wish that you could get both and test out them in the same scenarios but i guess that would be too much work with all the editing, highlighting and putting them all back in the video. would love to see the next video in 4K fps so we could see the images better
    Really appreciate the video! cheers
