I had this for two years before figuring out what it was. My whole face was covered and at 51, that’s not ok. What worked for me was fluconizole 200mg daily for 7 days along with ketoconizole shampoo. It still didn’t go away, so I used a sulfur face wash every other evening, followed by benzoyl peroxide cream. On the off nights I used a ketoconizole lotion at night and a mix of apple cider vinegar and 3 parts water in the morning. I believe the apple cider vinegar, benzoyl peroxide and sulfur wash were what really helped turn the corner. I also avoided oil face washes and sunscreen. I switched to oil free sunscreen, foundation and vitamin C serum to clear up hyperpigmentation. It took about a month, but after suffering for two straight years not knowing what was going on, I’m thankful it’s gone. The scary part is knowing it could come back since I’m in a tropical region in Florida. I know now to shower immediately after working out, outdoor sports and any time I’m sweating. Fungal acne thrives on sweat and oil! ❤
All the points you mention are perfectly right! Sometimes we use low dose Isotretinoin to treat it as well. It may need to be continued long term though Another natural option to isotretinoin is oral vitamin A. Here is a video on it. I think acids can irritate the skin further in M folliculitis. The treatments suggested in the video, including anti yeast tablets like Fluconazole may be an option. Low dose Isotretinoin could also be considered.
It is unlikely that any treatment will cure this condition as it is caused by a yeast that lives ion our skin. We can control the condition, but cure is something that occurs on its own with time.

The marks take time to heal in Asian skin. Usually, time is the best healer. There are a few creams used for facial pigmentation that you could try. The ones mentioned in the latter part of this video are over the counter and may be beneficial. THIS is Exactly what I feel it is.

@@sayemdewan5030 The first covers a bacterial in section whilst the second script covers both bacterial and fungal infections. So the diagnosis is still not clear to the doctors treating you. It can be difficult and thats the reason why we sometimes treat both bacterial and viral causes of the rash.

TY, nurse diagnosed me with eczema and bacteria. She gave me steroids and anti biotics which made it worse. So itchy!
This is a commonly missed diagnosis. As you mention, steroids and antibiotics only worsen the situation.
