@@flexiblestrategist9922Peete wasn't as bad as his outcome. Remember, he had absolutely no WRs. Ricky Waters was his best ball catcher. He also had like 2 seconds before he had to just release the ball.

@@bjt81366I agree with most of what you said. My Home-Town Birdz didn't have great WRs. I believe Fred Barnett had been hurt for a significant time, and lost a step he probably never regained. Calvin Williams was on his last legs it looked like. Shout out Art Monk, that said, it wasn't THAT ART MONK in his prime. The HOF'r!! A lot to be desired at WR for sure. And I don't remember seeing a familiar TE either in these highlights.
Rickey Watters was good to great, but he was our only legit receiver like you said and he ran behind a very suspect O-Line. This wasn't Stoutland's (sp.) O-line.

The 95 Cowboys are a testament to high end talent. They weren't coached AT ALL. Switzer was the NFL version of a substitute teacher. Dysfunctional all the way around. And won the Super Bowl because aside from the 49ers, they had hands down the best roster in the NFL. It really is as simple as that. They were built so well, they could lose a great coach and still win a championship. One of the great dynasties of all time, even if it ended prematurely.

Look at Williams on the play. Dude literally blocked nobody. Novacek pops Fuller and lets him go for Williams to pick him up so he can run out into a short pattern, but Williams turns his back to Fuller, gets in Aikman's way, has a second chance to block Fuller and remains turned away, gets out of Fuller's way, and let's him have a clean shot at Aikman. Like WTF, the guy was an All-Pro, and looked lost. He couldn't have made it easier on Fuller if he was actually trying to let Aikman get sacked.

4th and 1 at their own 29 in a tied game with just over two minutes to play, Switzer decides to go for it. Cowboys run straight up the gut for no gain, but the refs come in and say that the clock hit 2:00 before the ball was snapped. Given a reprieve, Coach BS inexplicably decides to go for it *again*. Not only that, they run the same play that just failed.

Three things I recall from this game (and two of which I enjoyed re-watching here)...
    1. Bobby Taylor was magnificent that day, to the point that I sensed that the future cornerback prototype would be taller to combat tall, athletic wideouts. Oops.
    2. Aikman going ballistic at Erik Williams (snap count? understanding the step drop? still not sure) at the end, and my old man saying "I'd be damned if I were a lineman that I'd take THAT from a quarterback." Years later, I watched the A Football Life doc on Aikman, and saw that he became a lot more demonstrative and demanding in the Switzer years because Switzer wasn't going to hold people accountable the way Jimmy Johnson had. Upon seeing that, I immediately recalled this end-of-game moment and thought "whatever the hell he did or didn't do, Erik Williams messed the eff up."
    3. Studio analyst Jimmy Johnson (this was pre-Dolphins, mind you) somehow holding back a smile in the postgame show on Fox. He was very magnanimous in spite of what he was witnessing and had been through with those same Cowboys players, but he didn't hold back his criticism of the 4th and 1 decision, either. Never rooted for his teams personally, but I gained a new level of respect for him that day.
