I have a SHARP LED TV which recently developed a similar issue but local tech support has been as good as nonexisting. Al got the advice it seems I will need to follow quite soon. Outlook is so bleak I just went out and bought a new LG. SHARP should be more careful about who they hand over their brand to. Reliability and support are key elements to getting a repeat customer.

I once had a Sharp TV. About a year after I bought it, it lost one horizontal row of pixels, whick made a black line, right across the middle! Thank goodness for Costco's 2-year warranty! They paid me back in full! I would have loved to have thrown a rock through that Sharp TV, but I had to get my money back! I bought a Sony Bravia TV to replace it, and 13 years later, that Sony TV is still kicking!

I used to be a Sharp Electronics Repair Technician. That blinking code (Power 2x, OPC 1x) just means its a problem with either the Main Board or the Power Supply. The Sharp Tech support should've been able to walk him step by step to troubleshoot over the phone. Yes yes I know its fake, but I love Weird al nonetheless.
I stayed with a host family in Germany once, and they had the same TV. I read the manual and I figured out that OPC light was Optimum Picture Control, or the name for Sharp's automatic contrast control system.
I thought for one second he would throw the TV off of the cliff before he picked up the rock. Throwing the TV off of the cliff is what I would have done.
"It did not work? Ok, here is what I want you to do. I want you to drive 50 Miles to a cliff side, place the T.V. on the edge of the cliff with the Screen facing towards the sky, and smash the biggest rock you can find onto it. This should re-align the pixels allowing for the picture to come through." said the Tech guy..
See, the problem was that the DVD player is in the pool... it doesn't have that much range.

I feel Al's pain. My dad has two Sharp TVs, and both of them conked out on different occasions. Moral of the story: Don't buy Sharp TVs.
