It only dawns on me now years later that there was another layer to this video where you expect him to throw it into the ocean as an escalation of the pool, but instead he bashes it with a rock.
If only he still had his 1964 black Plymouth Belvedere with red upholstery… unfortunately, it suffered the Dead Car Battery Blues in 1977, and ended up being dragged around by a tow truck in 1983…
This was in Hawaii, it was probably a rental car. Al lives there part of the year, but it would hardly make sense to keep a car parked there unused for so much time.
love you Al such a big fan that i saw you at Hersey park for the Al 2k tour and even went to Monroe Wa. to see you at the Cow Days fest. and never miss you here in chicago!!!

Interesting how people can watch a famous person do the most boring of tasks, like talking to tech support, and they'll make it seem like the most riveting thing ever.
"Blinking lights you say? Try holding hte power button down." "Hmmm so its not working still?" "Well I supposed you could drop a heavy rock on it." "Yeah that usually gets it" "...Trust me...."
It's funny how you lifted the TV off the stand and walked away with it, without unplugging it. Tells me maybe it wasn't plugged in. Oh wait it had two blinking lights, must of had power. Wow Weird, I guess that's why your Weird Al ;) Always enjoyed your music through the years, I guess you have made me a little weird myself.
I have a SHARP LED TV which recently developed a similar issue but local tech support has been as good as nonexisting. Al got the advice it seems I will need to follow quite soon. Outlook is so bleak I just went out and bought a new LG. SHARP should be more careful about who they hand over their brand to. Reliability and support are key elements to getting a repeat customer.
"I got it for Christmas and, um... I'm not getting any picture on it." "Oh, you got it for Christmas? In that case, you want to drive to a secluded area and smash it with a large rock." ... "No, that didn't do it." "It didn't? Well, you could try returning it then."
I stayed with a host family in Germany once, and they had the same TV. I read the manual and I figured out that OPC light was Optimum Picture Control, or the name for Sharp's automatic contrast control system.
I imagine there being a 70-year-old fisherman just sitting in the other cliff and seeing Weird Al drop a fucking tv in the water. Then going over and catching it.
RIP Al's TV. But to be honest I think everyone has wanted to beat the crap out of an appliance at some point, it's just pretty awesome to do so with a big rock.
Love it! Love! Give me a rock too! I want to try this. ;-) Reminds me of my many many calls to tech support over the past few months. (Directv and Centurylink)...It would just plain feel good to drop a rock on something!
I thought for one second he would throw the TV off of the cliff before he picked up the rock. Throwing the TV off of the cliff is what I would have done.
I am angry at myself for not knowing about Weird Al's RUclips channel sooner.
Well, better late than never.
So true.
Dude you wrote that 3 years ago, I just found it NOW
Dude I found it about 3 days ago XD
I just found out about 8 years later
Well, I'm angry that I just discovered Weird Al this year. Yep, this one's from 2019.
See, the problem was that the DVD player is in the pool... it doesn't have that much range.
BrutalSwede XD LOL
LMBO
I guess you could say that the DVD player went off the deep end.😏
@@prxstcn2499 that’s even worse

The fact that this man actually carried a tv all the way down there, and then was able to LIFT THE ROCK. This dude is amazing

When you walked down to the cliff edge, it just seemed like the ending to a really tear- jerking, scenic film.
omg a starving child in Africa could have eaten that TV
I know. *_WHAT WASTE._* .__.

I could have eaten that TV.
Boo Fire
I could have eaten that TV AND phone, and the dvd player.
I open the comment section to type that and this is the first thing that comes up.
those were very specific directions
holly clown OMG! I genuinely just realised that after I read your comment! And ya I do agree, those were *-very-* specific instructions!
You missed your chance to say "those were very *Pacific* directions." :)
Talk about Rocky Road. Literally.
I love rocky road
Weird Al lives in Hawaii? NICE.
Yes he lives on Maui up in the country. Maybe one of the most beautiful and secluded places on earth.
+JimmyJazz332 I think he only lives there part time, I know he has a house somewhere in the Hollywood Hills, I think.
It only dawns on me now years later that there was another layer to this video where you expect him to throw it into the ocean as an escalation of the pool, but instead he bashes it with a rock.
i wish al would do more of these
Better buy more of his albums, and merch' then so he can afford to destroy more stuff. ;)
I knew it was you because of the big red X.
Sadly, he won't
It was probably already broken so that’s why he had no shame in destroying it.
This is why I love "Weird Al". Comedic genius.

Great work Al!! Thanks for continuing to make albums and lighten the mood up...exactly what this country needs now...
Sometimes tech support really is that useful, too. Perfectly realistic :D
"It's definitely plugged in" : (Doesn't have a single wire going into it)
Then how are the two LEDs blinking?
I love how he drove all the way to the ocean cliff side, just to hit it with a big rock.
I'm actually impressed that he could lift of rock that size with such ease but hurl it with such mighty force.
Who knew Al was ripped?

I feel Al's pain. My dad has two Sharp TVs, and both of them conked out on different occasions. Moral of the story: Don't buy Sharp TVs.

I'm sure that's how we consumers feel when tech support isn't much help. Good one Al!

That's why he remains rich lol

Dear Al,
Next time, instead of destroying your expensive, non working TV, could I have it?
Things are really going well for Al if he can afford these unconventional fixes of his stuff.
Even by 2011 standards, that TV was outdated. Nothing of value was lost.
I think either Weird Al needs better electronics or needs to call new tech support.

When you have enough money to throw a flat screen LCD TV off a cliff, you can retire early.
HE LITERALLY JUST HIT 2 MIL AT 1:45 AM EST ON SUNDAY MARCH 7TH 2021
Lifting that boulder = Al's workout for the week.
His cordless house phone has a long range . . .
or does it? (He said: "Hello?")
That's quite a beautiful spot he broke the TV at.
He should have bought his TV from the same company as that LONG range cordless land line phone. That thing is a monster
As soon as i saw the TV, I knew shit was gonna get real
I have a feeling that he will make one of these every time something in his house breaks... Im fine with that!
Having worked in Tech Support (Dell GTS Large Business Support) -- I can't tell you how tempting telling someone something like this would be. :)
"Well , i suppose you could try beating it with a giant rock. Always helps when most people aren't working right so it might as well work."
Can`t be a real TV. But the situation gives real laughter.
@shadowartist the Sharp televisions also have inputs on the back of the set, not just the side ones we see.
Guys, he wasn't being wasteful. It was already broken.
That moment when you have so much money you can afford to do this.
I can't believe that didn't work!! Where's my sarcastic font when I need it?
I bet it was broken beyond repair so he decided to make a funny video with it.
I don't think he'd smash a tv if he didn't intend to get a new one. That one was already busted.
