They came over to watch me tattoo someone because they were curious. I also played them this video. They absolutely loved it. They pointed out that Menonites can use electronics, but more fundamental sects can't.
Not sure how true it is, but from what I've heard, it's less about electricity and technology itself, and more about not interrupting their way of life? Amish and Mennonites are actually not the same .... they all belong to the Anabaptists; however, most of the Anabaptist groups would get quite insulted if anyone said that they were branches of each other. Some different groups are the Old order Amish, New order Amish, Mennonites, German Baptists, Beachy, Beachy Amish(yes there is a difference), Schwartzendruber Amish, Charity(or so they used to be called... they changed their name), and many others. Mennonites are the ones I am the most familiar with. Everything depends on the location of the church because rules vary by congregation. Rules can be as strict as "Dresses must be hemmed at 9 inches from the floor" (Yes that is a real rule ...... I don't know why), and "Men are not allowed to wear shirts with print of any kind". Some rules make no sense and are only accepted because they were passed down from previous generations. All Anabaptist groups can tell each other apart by observing the slight differences in the way the women dress. Colors and designs of coverings and dress patterns vary by which group the members belong to. Even the slightest difference in detail would identify someone as a part of a different group.
Fun fact: At 2:04 when the house framing fell on Yankovic, it was actually heavy enough to kill him but the producer hired a physicist to ensure it fell at the perfect angle.

@Salafi-Jihadi Palestinian Where I live is mostly farmland, small town. Down the road we have several Amish families and they come over sometimes to bring us pies and other foods in exchange for stuff like sugar and stuff we just buy from the store. I told them that a comedian made a song about them and most were open-minded about it. We’re friends I’d say. I give them rides to the store (would take hours on their buggy), they give us homemade goods and food. They pray for my parents (cancer) and my dad blows their driveway in the winter. Good relationship. Years ago I showed them this to get their opinion on it. Simple really. Most laughed, acknowledging their own hard work and we talked about sacrifices they make for the sake of their religion. Lets be honest 2:51 is badass and impressive. Never mind the fact he had to walk backwards and time everything perfect without running into multiple animals or the horse and carriage, but he also had to count his steps and fall safely backwards hoping he was at the hay which he almost missed doing it all while mouthing the lyrics backwards.
Robert Simpson Yes he was, dude. It’s just that they forwarded the clip backwards so it made it look like he was walking straight. Like, seriously mate, are you that dumb?! Edit: This comment was a joke, Robert Simpson is obviously right.
@@robertsimpson1397 Nah your right they just instead taught a horse to trot backwards, same with the chickens, dog, and laama pulling the other man backwards that's way easier then having just one guy walk backwards.
weird Al is NEVER given credit for how great of a song writer he is. When people talk about great lyrical rappers... no one mentions Al... but listen closely... his lyrics are genius. Just because they're funny, doesn't make them less outstanding!
Don't forget, Al has 14 studio albums and over half of the songs are his originals. Al is an amazing musician. Btw, his lyrics for It's All About the Pentiums are pure genius.
OMG yes he is a total comedy genius and his timing is perfection. Weirdo we all love you and we wish to acknowledge that you are perhaps the funniest human being in the world
Just heard a Wierd Al song on Bob Dylan. Every single sentence is a palindrome, so, you can read it back to front, and stays the same, like, well, the name Bob. That's pretty close to mindbogglingly genius. Al prolly even know a word that's backwards identical, that means mindboggling.
Not sure, might he made theatre of it at their yards.;) may it help severals to leave this and other secta and become instead what god nowadays want :/
2:51 Truly one of the greatest shots in music video history. To get this all lined up and lip synced perfectly is crazy. Massive respect to Al for adding that in.

Was that his Strings Attached Tour? I managed to get Dad to take me to see it. That was so much fun! Best concert experience I've ever had (not that I've been to many concerts). Dad didn't enjoy it as much - he broke his glasses earlier that day so he had to hold the pieces on his face to see anything. Travis Finucane of course he lipsynced for the video. He still had to memorize listening to it backwards.
He actually sang it backwards too while I'm not sure if it was recorded and re-added later, he said he sang it backwards to add it to the video.
I worked at a bowling alley a few years ago and every weekend we would have “rock n bowl”-lights off, music, strobe lights, that kind of thing. We would always have groups of Amish people come in and play a few games and so many of them would request this song. They all loved it.

Lets be honest 2:51 is badass and impressive. Never mind the fact he had to walk backwards and time everything perfect without running into multiple animals or the horse and carriage, but he also had to count his steps and fall safely backwards hoping he was at the hay which he almost missed doing it all while mouthing the lyrics backwards.
ikr
He wasn't walking backwards dude.
Robert Simpson Yes he was, dude. It’s just that they forwarded the clip backwards so it made it look like he was walking straight. Like, seriously mate, are you that dumb?!
