Parents that tell their children not to come back are toxic and manipulative. You're kids are not extension's of you to do exactly what you want, they are individual human beings that still need guidance and support. Edit: I understand being scared and or upset for your kids, but outright telling your children to never come back is shitty and as I said above, toxic. I don't care what generation you grew up in, if your folks did this to you, it was still wrong and I'm sorry you went through that. I also understand that this can be a generational thing. People used to do things to their kids that were aweful and then those kids grew up, realized it was toxic and wrong, and decided not to pass that down into their kids. Not all parents do it out of malice, regardless it is still harmful and wrong.

@@bloomingrat1634 In modern English, a cult is a social group that is defined by its unusual religious, spiritual, or philosophical beliefs, or by its common interest in a particular personality, object, or goal. This sense of the term is controversial, having divergent definitions both in popular culture and academia, and has also been an ongoing source of contention among scholars across several fields of study. The word "cult" is usually considered pejorative. An older sense of the word cult involves a set of religious devotional practices that are conventional within their culture, are related to a particular figure, and are often associated with a particular place. References to the "cult" of a particular Catholic saint, or the imperial cult of ancient Rome, for example, use this sense of the word. While the literal and original sense of the word remains in use in the English language, a derived sense of "excessive devotion" arose in the 19th century According to this definition amish are certainly a cult

Let me first say that I really wish these girls all the best-- but I worry about them too. Amish education generally only goes up to grade 8. I agree with David. I think they were more curious about the existence of escalators and wanted to experience as much of the "English" world as possible, so they decided to use them instead of the normal stairs.
In modern English, a cult is a social group that is defined by its unusual religious, spiritual, or philosophical beliefs, or by its common interest in a particular personality, object, or goal. While the literal and original sense of the word remains in use in the English language, a derived sense of "excessive devotion" arose in the 19th century

The whole video I wondered how they were going to fly without a photo ID. I hope these producers of the show helped them out because what a dirty trick to film them being shunned by their parents and exploring the airport knowing they wouldn't be able to buy a ticket.
Yeah I was curious where they even got money to fly. It’s not cheap
@@DJ-il4rs especially when they're trying to buy tickets at the Harrisburg Airport...damn Airport is expensive AF
It looks like they made it through TSA when they saw the plane runway. You need a ticket to go that far in most airports.
@@DJ-il4rs Grandma in Florida maybe?
Right...I thought that was pretty shitty of the crew! I wonder what happened with them
"Why can't there be stairs like normal"
Stairs right next to the escalator: "am I a joke to you"
Lol yea
That wasn’t the point of her question. It wasn’t that they needed to use regular stairs, it was a curiosity about “English” culture that justified escalators. These girls show a far more intelligent curiosity of the world than you.
I agree with David. I think they were more curious about the existence of escalators and wanted to experience as much of the "English" world as possible, so they decided to use them instead of the normal stairs. Just imagine being in an Amish community for your whole life, with your exposure to the outside world being the occasional glimpse of cars, riding in one occasionally and the occasional rural McDonalds; then suddenly going somewhere like a big airport or a mall, and seeing a bunch of technological devices that you don't even know the names of. I had the same fascination even though I'm not Amish, I did live in a rural community and saw escalators for the first time when I was like 13 years old. lol
It's moments like that I'm sure the camera crew wants to help, but they can't. What a frustrating job that must be. XD
@Still Sidda I believe you lack the intelligence to even understand my comment. But don’t bother yourself to think about this or anything else for that matter. Thinking is probably a challenge for you.
Wow that airport man was mean. "How do you have social security but no id" the way he said that was unnessecairly rude to these nice ladies
Yeah, not even a "sorry" or, well you need this and that in order to fly, but just "I can't help you you can't fly, bye"
Left the poor girls even more confused
@@kornelijavugranicek3003 right? Plus people near Amish country should probably know the reasons the Amish may not have those things and be a bit nicer, maybe explain it more to them and direct them to someone that can help them.
@@cocoleexoxo absolutely! Would love to know what happened an if the figured it out!? Does anyone know where I can watch this pleeeease??
well ya, he was probably disgusted cause they took off their masks
@@veeeff2323 Still makes him an asshole. They obviously don’t watch the news and they are young girls.
I love their reactions to all the things we take for granted. It is so innocent and wholesome.
Watching how innocent these two are experiencing this crazy world just melted my heart.
I think that that same innocence is what makes adults fawn over children. It is truly special.

A true fairytale adventure
Religion has a lot to answer for.
@@gilwillia can you explain? I mean I think having faith in Christ is good and true as well as innocece from the evils of the world. Note- airplanes and science and escalators are NOT evil.
A parent should NEVER tell a child they can not come back home. EVER!
You must have never met some disappointing and an excuse of an embarrassment as some kids
@@joeblack2809 lmao
In a perfect world…but children unfortunately sometimes grow up to be assholes, psychopaths or narcissistic and are extremely toxic to everyone in the family…sometimes for the well-being of the other siblings they need to cut them off
that's just guilt tripping. My folks, esp my Mom tried that on me. We had lunch 2 weeks later.
@@joeblack2809 still not okay to tell your little child “you can NEVER come back home.” Please don’t become a parent if you will give up on your child no matter what
“I like him the way he is” makes me wanna cry she’s so cute
Ikr she's so sweet and kind
Wasn't that BEAUTIFUL when she said that. That was a life lesson
These girls are so brave
Dude, the way Maureen likes Daniel is so sweet... I hope I'll get to experience to love someone like that
You are beautiful Nana you will find your soulmate..we all deserve to find happiness..I hope you find your happiness ever after sooner than later..Michael
Try me I'm single & ready to mingle ☺️
That’s old skool love for you.
"I like him just the way he is , I don't want him to change " she's so nice and sweet🥺.
Not possible in the city where women chase bad boys and fuck boys
The fact that the parents let a camera crew follow them around and yet she's scared of telling her parents that she's leaving to Florida.
The crew were clearly filming in her room, the parents would have to know what's going on. It just feels skeevy. How much was fake to add to the drama. Maybe it's all a re-enactment. It just doen't feel truthful.
@@Misrabelle they must be good actors lol
@@woosh-if-gae5772 If they've been out of the Amish lifestyle for awhile, and are just re-enacting what they went through to get to where they are now, it really doesn't take much to 'act' it.
Did you Notice the fan and a light when the camera was on the girl you can see it a ceiling fan with lights I always thought they don't Believe in electric💁
I was literally going to comment that, people don’t realize these shows are fake and staged. You can’t just film a minor (in an Amish community no less) without the parents knowing about it and giving permission. 🤦🏼♀️
“How do you have a social but not an id”, they don’t give out IDs when you’re born
Yeah, he was pretty dumb about that.
Also the only place you can get an ID is a DMV....lmao and they don’t drive cars so there’s no need for them to go to a DMV.
Honestly fuck that dude for just flat out saying "I can't help you"
Completely unsympathetic and rude
If he had that attitude towards anyone who wasn't oblivious they would have asked to see a supervisor
He did that knowing how unhelpful it was
Really shouldn't be running the ticket desk if you're going to spout cultural insensitivity
That guy was A. a moron and B. not even a native-born American, and C. not very bright. I got my Soc Sec when I was about 14, and they do NOT have pics on them. The camera crew should have helped those girls out.
amazing
Poor kids. How they can just send their kids off without a hug or a "good luck" is beyond me. And they think they're good parents. "If you love something, set it free..."
