Just want to start out by saying I am surprised by the amount this video has taken off. To answer some of the comments and give the back story. First off this isn't a new building. This building was previously used as a tin shop I think it was built around 2015. That family decided to move another part of the country 4 or 5 years ago. This building has been sitting empty ever since. The new owner of the property decided he was going to demolish the building. A neighbor was going to build a new leather harness shop, basically anything involving leather. Yes, I have joked with him about anything to do with leather :) He purchased the building, with the intent to move it. Why waste the building when it's in great shape is what he told me. Also, it was faster to move the building then take it down and rebuild it in the new location, only took 20 minutes to carry it to new location. Think he spent a few by himself making sure the Sonotubes where in the correct spot to set the building down on and adding braces to inside of building to keep the walls from moving while lifting. We are guessing there are roughly 140-150 people lifting the building. Best guess they were lifting between 50 to 75lbs (22 to 35 kgs), hard to tell walking that distance with a building in your arms. At the end of the video, you can count them leaving the building just haven't taken the time to count. Some have asked why not use wheels. Mostly it was because of time. The amount of dirt that would have needed to be moved to get wheels through two ditches, plus the 180 turn at the end with limited space. It had to go down slightly to miss the power lines crossing onto the dirt road. Then the number one reason was you don't need overweight or over width permits if you just carry it🤷♂🤣 Yes, I asked about filming this, they wanted to see it afterwards as well. I have lots of videos with the Amish I should post more, or at least a short of the limo they arrived in. Total cost of moving it was a lot of coffee, a bunch of sheet pizzas, and a volleyball net to play volleyball afterwards. As for the haircuts I have nothing, let's just say the hair looks better with straw hats on. Thanks for watching!
So, the Amish all seem amazed at the technology of the drone. But everyone else watching this video is amazed at their incredible teamwork. Wouldn't it be nice if the whole world worked together like this?
Large parts of our city were flooded years ago. Among the volunteers to gut homes for restoration were teams of Amish. They make EVERYONE else look lazy and disorganized in the way they work. And they were amazing people to work with and talk to. Most grateful for food and water. Cleaned up everything. Just good people.
It's called realizing your differences and working together as a team instead of forcing everyone to be the same by forcing them to be "different/special".
Theyre not always the greatest people A lot of their ways are backwards for sure And a little sinister in some cases And they foul the land they plant on as they generally don't use modern tilling and planting practices
I was driving a van across inland Florida after a hurricane and got a flat tire from the debris on the road, I parked and got out to look at it , I called AAA and was waiting when a truckload of young Amish showed up to help me - the person across the street had called someone - They changed my tire for me, a little miffed at the car jack but quickly figured it out - the driver took me to a tire place to get a new tire - the Amish were from Lancaster, Pa , in the area to help residents rebuild from the hurricane. They were heaven sent for sure!! I was so thankful.
Super cool!! I’m from myerstown pa a very small Amish town about 40 minutes from Lancaster. The Amish are very very kind and give out scrap wood and fresh baked stuff for free all the time. Also have very good deals and prices at all of their stores around here
I was raised on a dairy farm in Michigan, We did everything ourselves, couldn’t afford not to. If you didn’t know you found someone who did and would teach you.
When I drove a truck, I used to love delivering to Amish communities. They were always super nice, offered food and coffee, and unloaded my truck by hand faster than most forklifts or cranes.
I used to deliver to an amish business the owner was incredibly friendly. Amish girls worked the front office they were beautiful anytime I had a delivery there I was like yessssss lol
As a German it was really nice to hear them switch between their German dialect and English. They reminded me the first of May back in the Bavarian village I used to spend all my holidays and weekends, when the "may-tree" (old pagan tradition still in use in parts of Germany) would be set up with only the force of the men of the village. The atmosphere was exactly the same.
@@streetracer2321 oh that's understandable. You were taught standard German. But they speak a German dialect with different grammar and vocabulary. It's basically another language. If your accustomed to Bavarian and Alemannic German, you understand a lot, but if you only know high German, you'll have a hard time with their language.
Its not like punching in at an American job. A building will not get off the ground if any of them thought (well I can just look like im lifting). You can tell some are lifting much more than others, but they were all getting tired on the second move, that was long.
That’s called discipline. That is the result of the whole community sharing the same morals and values and instilling those morals and values into their children through hard work and discipline. Something most of America lacks. Communal agreement
@@dantekole6742 yeah i was in the United states Marine corps and it was the same. Discipline is discipline and can be taught to anyone who desires it. Your shit stinks like mine.
As an American I think a community this connected is missing most. I hear the word “community” used all the time but THIS is definitely the greatest interpretation of it. I think that the lack of a community leads to bitterness, loneliness, depression, and narcissism; A “it’s all about me” culture.
Thats the point divide and conquer. Get the peasants attatched to their technological devices more than they are attatched to other humans. Get people to idolize celebrities. It’s all mind control

I have had the pleasure of meeting a few Amish and a few Menonites: they are always kind, friendly and respectful. I knew a guy in college named David who was Amish (and identified with the comminity) but he had a passion for astronomy and astrophotgraphy. He actually had a laptop computer, a very nice Celestron 12" Schmitt-Cassagranian telescope and a really expensive CCD imager. I joked with him that I didn't think they used electricity let alone computers, and he replied to me that the Elders surprisingly did not frown on this particular vanity simply because they also enjoyed seeing some of "God's Other Works." I thought that was pretty cool! Anyways, great video!
This is why I love RUclips. There isn’t many genuine comments anymore but yours feels like it’s from a real place. I love the connection. Keep being you dean. I’m sure your a dope dude
“they also enjoyed seeing some of ‘God’s Other Works’” Well, Psalm 19:1 does say, “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”

I wish we could all experience such a strong sense of community. Imagine getting up on a Saturday to go move a building with the boys! It looks like so much fun
It's easy to romanticize. It's like the military, you must shed your personal identity to become a collective. Any personal kink is straightened out. That feeling of freedom is intense, but it's escapism. You escape your self, into the collective. You're freed from the burden of responsibility and above all - choice. You don't have to think. Community is the strongest drug there is, perhaps only matched by its opposite - egoism. Choose your poison...
YOU GUYS ARE SO GREAT! America communities used to be more so like this I'm told from my mama and grand parents. We have so lost that but this is a Time to Begin Again! We Need it for Each Other; Amen!
It's interesting that the younger Amish people are progressively accepting small bits of technology and modern articles (like the sunglasses, and wanting to see the video afterwards). I don't blame them. You can live humbly and still take advantage of things that will mean getting help faster, or protecting from the sun, etc.
There was a barn that burned down years back at a local farmers market in St Jacobs, Ontario, the Amish had the barn re built for the following Saturday's market. Roughly 5 days, the barn was easily the size of an old time hockey rink, or even bigger, insane.
The guy at the front is like a rowing captain, directing slight course corrections as the rest of the team works together. This is so wonderful to see a whole community working together for the greater good.
Notice that the idea only works when it's voluntary... it's impossible to 'force' people to work together as a community (otherwise some will only pretend to lift, while others are left to carry twice the weight).
I remember I once had to do a study on the Amish people. At first I thought the Amish people were a group of people that just reject the future even if it makes their lives easier. I was quickly proven wrong. They aren’t rejecting technology but they’re simply happier without it. They have built one of the strongest communities and I think we can all learn from the amish
Kid these day don't socialize with each other they rather go watch porn, watch drama, become self absorb tiktoker, insta thotting, FaceTime their friend over hanging out in person. It desensitize human bonding experience. Amish were partially right to reject worldly crap for the pursuit of building a community with one another. We may be making fun of them but they got the last laugh.
@@jetsh1ftman746 This isn't correct. There are many communities that make it a point to allow the younger ones a chance to experience other lifestyles for themselves before making a decision.
Working in the building trades around Lancaster County PA, you inevitably run into Amish framers/trim guys/cabinet guys. Incredibly talented and industrious. Friendly and easy to work with. With that being said it’s a known thing here that the Amish carpenters are able to bid thousands of dollars lower than other contractors because of their tax exempt status. For example, I’m in a very niche section of the custom home building industry where the low end of homes we do are 1.5 million and 5-10k sq ft. Routinely do 30 million/30k square foot places so really nothing comparatively. But I know on the last house that the Amish farmer won the bid because he was like 30k cheaper than the closest bid. And did great work-but that will start to rub your peers the wrong way for sure and I understand some of the negative sentiment ive seen in the industry here locally
Aside from the fact that Amish people have been the most sincere and genuine people I’ve ever met in my life…. their haircuts are truly the stuff of legend as seen here in this video 😂
Never seen an entire RUclips comment section with nothing bad or negative to say about anything.. But you literally can't complain about the Amish. I envy their lifestyle sometimes.
It’s amazing they let you film this. Typically they shun outsiders, and here you are participating in something like this. Thank you so much for posting this. Gotta love the Amish
You'd be surprised, I worked with Amish for a barn building company, and they were a lot more modern than you'd think. Some of the younger ones had vapes that they didn't really keep secret. They were all really interested in the radios we had in the vans. They liked pushing every freaking buttons inside the vans to make it do whatever. During lunchbreak they'd have one of the drivers drive all of em to a gas station or something similar
Most Amish folks I've met are friendly to just about everyone and technology has nothing to do with it. I think that standoffishness is just a stereotype. Maybe some of the older folks are not as outgoing with people outside their community but I can sympathize more with them the older I get too.
It depends on the Amish. There are very iolated and wary groups in the midwest. The Pennsylvania Amish are more modernized, they kinda had too. They do so much business with other residents that they are partially integrated by finding loopholes. Like they can't own a cell phone, but their employees can, so they give a phone to an employee but use it during the day. Teen Amish girls are in high demand by Pennsylvania families because they have already raised kids, are hard workers, and trustworthy as nannies and housekeepers. So they work in other homes as well. That one guy has a modern pair of sunglasses.
Back around 2010 I was driving OTR. Delivered several times to Amish communities. They were always very nice. They would assemble quite the crowd to unload the trailer. Men, young men and even some young women all pitched in getting the trailer unloaded. Afterwards they always approached me and would ask lots of questions about my trip. Hungry for news and a description of how my drive out to them had gone. Kinda felt like I had stepped back in time. Like I was a traveler going west being pumped for news about what's going on in the world outside their community. Always pleasant dealing with these folks👍😺
This is what alot of people are missing in their lives a real sense of community and friendships not to mention a lot less artificial complications replaced with work that really matters in you everyday life a sense of accomplishments energizes the soul

In the Philippines we call this Bayanihan it means a community coming together to helping eachother. The symbolism for bayanihan is exactly this, a group of men moving a house. I experienced this first hand when a group came to me and offered help when they saw me building a small hut in the land I just acquired. We all had a beer at the end of the day.
As a child i remember being inside the moving house with my bestfriend as the guys from our neighborhood was moving her family's house to another spot. Bayanihan indeed.
God bless the Amish! I was desperate in need to have my roof fixed on my home but the estimate that was given to me from all the roofers in my area was just unbelievable. Beyond my savings two times over. I called an Amish crew that my neighbor had used and I told them what I had and they did it. I can't tell you what a blessing that was. They did an amazing job. It took me five years of saving every bit I could. In todays Society, the cold calculating world we live in, these people are a true blessing and if I had more to give them I gladly would have.
@@dcan911 So you think professional roofers should scalp people because they think they have them over a barrel? Big difference here is that they live without all or most of what we take for granted. If you're ever in Amish or Mennonite country, and they ask to borrow your phone, bring up the keypad for them and hand it to them. It's a bit strange, but it's because they don't have phones themselves.

This is the blueprint for how to build a community, figuratively and literally. This kind of community is fractal and spirals out. The Amish are legends.
It's incredible to see the Amish move entire buildings with such precision and skill! Their ability to disassemble, transport, and reassemble structures using traditional methods is a true testament to their craftsmanship and ingenuity. It's like watching history in motion!

I'm a very independent person so I can't imagine being happy living the Amish lifestyle. That being said, I live in Pennsylvania and I've met some Amish folks. They are wonderful people and I admire their sense of dedication to their community. I grew up working ranches and sometimes bailing hay in the Texas panhandle. That's hard work. I recently stopped during a motorcycle ride to watch some Amish boys bailing hay with a horse-drawn bailer. It was powered only by the horses, with long belt drives, like you might see in pictures from the 1910's. I don't think anyone there was over 16 years old but those boys were getting after it. I bet any one of those boys are strong enough to strangle a bobcat. I have a lot of respect for the Amish.

What a nice video. It's so awesome to see ppl all working together to accomplish a common goal. No whining, no complaining, no cell phones. The only person who questioned anything was the English guy. The rest were just going with the flow, taking guidance and they all accomplished their task, smiling and feeling good about it. Very refreshing.
What an extraordinary sight. It is lovely that there are still close communities of people working together with their hands I hope their way of life will continue.
Seeing a community of people helping just for one person to have a leather shop (which also contributes to the community) makes me want to cry. Thank you for sharing this! What an amazing insight. I grew up near the Amish and am ashamed to say we did not very much appreciate them. I suppose the things I heard adults say influenced the way I saw them, and when I heard them speaking Deitsch it always just reinforced the image in my childhood mind of them being "them". We thought they didn't want anything to do with us, and perhaps that somehow allowed us to ignore how unfair it was that we criticized them. I have never had the opportunity to see them like this interacting with each other as a community. The smiles, the laughs, the comradery - it's all quite beautiful. What a great group of lads getting together and working without complaint or cynicism. I'm very glad I found this and had the opportunity to reflect on my own prejudices.
Then the number one reason was you don't need overweight or over width permits if you just carry it🤷♂🤣
Yes, I asked about filming this, they wanted to see it afterwards as well.

They do so much business with other residents that they are partially integrated by finding loopholes. Like they can't own a cell phone, but their employees can, so they give a phone to an employee but use it during the day.

It’s a bit amazing how easy a heavy lift can be with a few extra bodies. Worked as a HVAC tech and sometimes moving a big roof top AC units by manpower was 100x easier than calling in a crane. Get 6-8 guys out on the job and pick the sucker up and walk it where it needs to be. Not always can a crane reach that far out across a roof without bringing in an incredibly huge expensive crane.
Hats off to you guys, one morning I was driving to work and noticed a huge helicopter in my local Walmart parking lot, they were replacing all the rooftop a/c units with the thing. They had a pilot and spotter in passenger seat with his head out the window guiding the pilot. They were making quick work of those units..

Yeah I thought they were weird as a kid, but now I have a great appreciation for how they live.
I tell you, the Amish have it figured out.
Then they went home and half of them beat their wives 🤢
You guys are very naive
That pretty much sums up the world. I've traveled all over and found that most people are like this.
Now you know, make sure you understand Islam from Muslim not from Fox News , that way you won’t make the same mistake twice 👍
@@adamadam1470 The difference is that muslims are actually as bad as people think they are. Islam is also a ugly religion
