Dr. Howard Wesley is one of America's premier preachers; without doubt, IMHO. He is the product of a south-side of Chicago, Baptist Church with exceptional intellectual drive coupled to a serious spiritually. His matriculation @ Duke; his Graduate work @ Boston University, the same school where Rev.Dr. King earned his Ph.D. in Systematic Theology; his exposure to Wiesel and now his working on his Ph.D., he has his "burning" and his "learning". We are so very blessed to have such a clarion witness. Whenever I'm in the DMV, I worship @ Alfred Street and am blessed in my sanctified soul for going. Pastor, be well. SHALOM
John the BAPTIST didn’t study at Duke. He was not a member of the Boule. He didn’t quote philosophers and idolaters. He didn’t repeat what a professor told him the Word of God said. John The Baptist was a wild man from the wilderness. He was not considered a learned or sophisticated man in any way and yet JESUS declared that John the BAPTIST was the greatest preacher to ever proclaim the gospel because he simply pointed people in the direction of the LAMB OF GOD WHO CAME TO TAKE AWAY THE SINS OF THE WORLD ( not justify or overlook or not address their sins ). John told people to REPENT for the Kingdom of God was at hand. Then he told them to be baptized signifying that they would DIE to THEMSELVES in order to reign with Christ. I mean really. Academia isn’t what God is looking for. He’s calling those who will BOLDLY proclaim His Holy Word and call people to repent and die to their old man in order to be raised in the Last Day. By the way John was beheaded for speaking out against SEXUAL MISCONDUCT AND LASCIVIOUSNESS. Unlike this man above, John and the true Apostles were NOT AFRAID to boldly speak exactly what God mandated even if it cost them their freedom and ultimately their lives. The 12 Elders are the best examples of what it cost to be true disciples. It ain’t glamorous or fancy. It’s all out warfare! The KINGDOM suffers violence. So this “ can’t we all just get along “ 💩 is not cutting it in the eyes of God. Imagine Jesus’ best friend Peter being crucified UPSIDE DOWN ( because he didn’t deem himself worthy to die the same death as his Savior ) but these fluff intellectuals are scared to offend a few ppl at the risk of less tithes or membership numbers. Jesus only needed 12 to revolutionize the world and yet these jokers here got thousands of members and can’t take one block in their city! Souls hang in the balance. It would be better for him to just go be a professor himself than to claim to stand in the stead of a Holy God never addressing what God has mandated...
Wesley is a false teacher who push liberal ideologies such as man with man, woman with woman instead of God's institution of Marriage(man/woman), two genders: male, female. I would never attend his church. This man place liberal ideologies over the Word of God.

I watch a lot of his sermons. This one was so powerful and revealing in the hearts of many people/Christians. I will never understand the obsession Christian have with others folks sin when they can’t get their stuff right. A mustard seed of focus on You and your sin would make the world a much better place. I love that he points to the human capacity to laser focus on what fits one’s beliefs glossing over the other sins that would have you as well in internal fire. Amen to preaching to the amazing Glory-filled messages in the Bible

A born again Christian have to pray a lot, listen to your Pastor's teachings, and ask God, if this Pastor's teachings is in line with the Word of God, If a Pastor's teachings is not in line with God's Word then leave that church become they maybe a False teacher. Look up Duke University lgbt theology college on RUclips, this is one example about theology colleges that don't follow God's Word. A minister with a degree or degrees in theology does not mean they have a relationship with Jesus Christ. Be on guard.

Hey everybody take the time to read the full chapters he references.There are plenty of scriptures on homosexuality. And he is not bringing them into this monologue. People are addressing his comments on homosexuality because they are wrong. Part truth and part error equals deception. That’s exactly what Satan did to Eve in the garden and what he tried with Jesus in the wilderness.

God knew that one would use the passage out of Ezekiel to try and minimize the vileness of the act of homosexuality. Everyplace you see the act of homosexuality in scripture it is condemn by God to the fullest. There is no where in scripture that God gives even the slightest hint that so called same gender loving relationships are ok’d by God. How a believer could confuse this as live when God calls it a vile affection is perplexing. God tells the church why he destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. Pastor Wesley in all his so called passion, failed to mention the book of Jude!

Then (22.57), he brings up A verse in Ezekiel and just like a pastor who trys to re-write the scripture to fit either their personal belief or need/want ($$$$$). He "GETS LOUNDER!!!!!". Sir, just stop. We ALL FALL SHORT. According to SCRIPTURE, because we all can read and comprehend English, he was displeased with ALL HE NAMED, please dont try and lesson the sins by the order he named them in. Church is for God's people, not for unbelievers.
We are not to keep company with a brother who is a fornicator or an idolater, yet we invite the world into our fellowship with open arms. Even the Jews under Moses law, separated themselves from gentiles, not keeping company with heathens.
But we see today what the policies of men have wrought in the Church, while driven by covetousness, which they hope to fulfill by increasing church attendance through carnal inventions.
For God has said, Come out from among them and be separate, not invite them to church in hopes that might hear and be saved. God said, Go into all the world and preach the Gospel.

At 18:55, Wesley says " Sodom and Gommorah is not about same gender love(homosexuality), but Wesley avoid preaching these verses on the Biblical views on gender and sexual relationship between man and woman in marriage. Gen.5:2 Male and female created he them. Jesus said in Mark 10:6,7, :" But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; " God's will and commandment is two genders male and female, and sexual relationship for man and woman in marriage only, not man with man, woman with woman (see Roman 1:27).
Preach preach preach! I appreciate a man/woman of God who is aware of current social injustices and is willing to speak and bring solutions to the pulpit. Whether we all realize it or not, social justice is all in the Bible and we must speak about it.
Social justice is personal responsibility, personal choices, and obeying the Word of God. We should be dependent on God, not the government and its benefits. Thats the problem.

It is time we recognize that the Pastor can’t save us, only Almighty God can. So we can shout preach from the rooftop all we want but that will not change the standard God had set for the church. Have a relationship with God himself or you will be lead astray
Yes it also has to do with men loving men and women loving woman. Read both scriptures for yourself. U can twist the word as much as you want to bring the worldly agenda but Gods word stand sure.

I hate it when people use “God love us all” as an excuse for their abominations! Ofcoz he loves u but u need to obey him. How can folks who proclaim to be Christians attempt to defend their Christianity while operating and conducting themselves in deviant ways! He didn't say that Christians couldn't speak up against homosexuality, but he wants us to stay think about and speak about the other things that God calls us to speak up on. Also you'd need to know that Rev. Dr. Howard John Wesley is an inclusivist you'd better understand the word that he was given to bring forth unto us. God cannot be boxed in and we have no authority to put anyone in heaven nor hell so we should also be careful of what we choose to speak up on and how we speak on it. Be encouraged in the Lord.

He read verse 50 but, did he really read it. Four key words haughty, committed abomination, therefore.
Ezekiel 16:50
And they were haughty and committed abomination before Me; therefore I took them away as I saw fit.
And as Rev. Dr. Wesley said, "We could debate all day about what abomination is..." Ppl automatically attribute the word abomination to homosexuality. God is bigger then the connotation and denotation of words for God is the word and yet at the same time he is a mystery. If we think we have God figured out we're fooling ourselves.

This is terrible in so many ways. Here are just a few false statements:
1. Sermon will challenge people in way that is uncomfortable - All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

2. If you got God all figure out and dont have room for challenge or change you wont like this worship service - Is he implying that God has given him a private interpretation of scripture? Above all, you know this: No prophecy of Scripture comes from the prophet’s own interpretation, because no prophecy ever came by the will of man; instead, men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

3. Sodom’s sin was not only selfishness, but also homosexuality. This is evident from several facts. First of all, the context of Genesis 19 reveals that their perversion was sexual (see comments on Gen. 19:8).
Second, the sin of selfishness related by Ezekiel (16:49) does not exclude the sin of homosexuality. As a matter of fact, sexual sins are a form of selfishness, since they are the satisfaction of fleshly passions.
Third, by calling their sin an “abomination,” the very next verse (v. 50, nkjv) indicates that it was sexual. This is the same word used to describe homosexual sins in Leviticus 18:22.

4. Using the example of the Holocaust and the plight of homosexuality is about the dumbest comparison Ive ever heard. He does this after telling you he has a masters degree. So, he has knowledge but no wisdom. Homosexuals are trying to change the word of God to fit their lifestyle. How in the world can this be used as a comparable to what Jews (Gods chosen people) experience in the Holocaust. Second of all, those who commit homosexual sin is an abomination to God and therefore they must repent. Jews didnt have to repent from being Jews, Nazi Germany sought to do the same thing the evil Haman attempted to do.
5. Any person who indulges in any type of sin - ongoing, is not of God. 1 John 3:6-8 CSB, Everyone who remains in him does not sin; everyone who sins has not seen him or known him. Little children, let no one deceive you. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. The one who commits sin is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God was revealed for this purpose: to destroy the devil’s works.
6. God issue with Israel was about how they deals with them. Really? This guy cant be serious. Then turns around and contradicts himself by saying they were stiffnecked. Which is it? This is what ths bible says.

The Ephraimite archers turned back on the day of battle. They did not keep God’s covenant and refused to live by his law. They forgot what he had done, the wondrous works he had shown them. He worked wonders in the sight of their ancestors in the land of Egypt, the territory of Zoan. He split the sea and brought them across; the water stood firm like a wall. I cant listen to this sermon anymore. Technically, the sermon fell apart after ths first lie he told in ths beginning.

Sodom and Gomorrah what is destroyed because of everything the pastor said including same, gender, relations, for we know if we read scripture, same gender relations is mentioned throughout the word of God more than three times as well that include the New Testament however, no sin/ Act is greater than the other. Let’s be clear men and women of God are supposed to stand on the truth, the word of God, at all cost, no matter how it’s twisted we have to live God’s way his way not ours

I think Pastor Wesley, has miss interpret Gensis 19. regarding lot and the members of his church need to study their Bible for themselves, i think he is going too far trying to justify the life style of gay. they are many bible verses specifically speak openly against sexual sins of the men, not focusing on the voilence of it only. Dr. Wesley needs to be very carefully he dont lead his members down a sinful road to believe that gay or lesbian life style is ok with God, that so wrong. You cannot be a practice gay or lesbian and go to heaven. Neither can you be a practice Rapist or a Murder and go to Heaven. I realize in previous Sermons he is trying to justified Homosexuality.

I appreciate the sermon on the sins of Sodom. I believe there is still room to speak of God’s displeasure with sexual immorality as stated in the books of Jude and 2 Peter, regarding Sodom.
It is dangerous to affirm, even indirectly, a lifestyle that God in God’s revealed word (the Bible) has not affirmed.
I love this preacher, but think it’s irresponsible to not address the entire teaching on the subject of homosexuality.

I appreciate Pastor John Howard Wesley sermonic presentations, however on this issue God is clear. Morality is still a part of God’s standard. It is unfortunate many believers are not biblically sound enough to know when a preacher deviates from the word. The spiritual condition of a person is impacted by sexual sin and the failure to love our brothers. God is a loving God but his love is HOLY. We are Holy because of GODS presence. When God withdrew his presence from his people this was a serious matter. The problem I have with this sermon is that sin has always had eternal ramifications in our lives. If Dr. Wesley is wrong about his evolution in his theology, sadly many will follow and be lost. PRAY ABOUT THIS ONE.
You miss the point as so many believers do. Morality is composed of what you can see and what you cannot see. Pastor Wesley is speaking about how God sees and addressing why the children of God are captive. It is also what Jesus speaks about when the disciples speaks of the grandeur of the temple and Jesus speaks of the destruction that would come in 70AD. God always let you see whats coming in advance of the season which no man knows.
Actually I see this as amplifying more aspects of morality. We tend to gloss over things like idolatry and not caring for the poor and the 'other'. Not doing those things are just as serious sins as engaging in same gender sex but rarely are they discussed in church today.
You discerned this correctly. People do not get the difference between God chastising His own out of love and Him condemning those that He turned over to their own reprobate ways of thinking and thus their living. Those He turns over to themselves He will destroy but he chastens those who are His because HIS SHEEP WILL HEAR HIS VOICE ABD A STRANGER THEY WILL NOT FOLLOW. God is love, and God does all things for his glory (1 John 4:8; Romans 11:36). He loves his glory above all (and that is a good thing!). Therefore, God rules the world in such a way that brings himself maximum glory. This means that God must act justly and judge sin (i.e. respond with wrath), otherwise God would not be God. God’s love for his glory motivates his wrath against sin.
Admittedly, God’s love for his own glory is a most sobering reality for many and not good news for sinners. It is after all, “a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God” (Hebrews 10:31).

God knew that people would use the passage in Ezekiel to try and minimize the vileness of Sodom and homosexuality. This sermon is a disaster.
I think the root of his issue is he will not perform proper biblical exegesis of the text.
If he would have just stood in front of the congregation and just read verse by verse Gen. 19, the congregation would have have heard the truth of God’s word, prayerfully repented for their sins, and and committed themselves to stop their “abominable” acts before God and men.

I hate the newer versions; language gets lost in translation and editors put THEIR spin on the text. As far as we know, strange flesh could mean animals.

In describing the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah, Dr. Wesley should consult all of God’s word, and not be so quick to dismiss the significance of sexual sins in God’s decision to destroy these cities. Consider the following:
2 Peter 2:6-8
“...if by turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to ashes he condemned them to extinction, making them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly; and if he rescued righteous Lot, greatly distressed by the sensual conduct of the wicked (for as that righteous man lived among them day after day, he was tormenting his righteous soul over their lawless deeds that he saw and heard)...”

“...just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.”
The fact of the matter is not all that people today call “love” is actually love. Some “love” is nothing more than sensual lust and sin. And there is no debate in Scripture: same-sex sexual acts are an “abomination” (see Leviticus 18:22; 20:13). Of course, homosexuality is not the only abomination, and sexual sins are not the only sins. But this gives us no excuse to gloss over the clear fact that homosexual behavior is roundly condemned everywhere it is mentioned in Scripture.

Deborah Musau I listened to the entire sermon. I don’t care how Dr. Wesley introduced his sermon. This is not about what I (or anyone else) may or may not like. GOD has spoken, and GOD has spoken clearly. And what GOD has said is right, and everything which disagrees with what GOD has said is wrong. Period.
The issue is that, in making some relevant points about our political leaders, Dr. Wesley also undermines the authority of God’s revealed and written Word as it concerns sexual ethics. He is actively confirming men and women in their sin (their sin of homosexuality), and cleverly and slyly suggesting that that which God has declared wrong (homosexuality) is actually right (or at least morally neutral). THAT is wrong. And it is dangerous. God has pronounced woe against anyone who would dare do such a thing, leading others astray (see e.g., Isaiah 5:20).
In other words, this is about God, and about the authority of God’s revealed and written Word (i.e., Scripture, the Bible).

The bible says Satan has ministers of light as well. All these so called "pastors" with all these titles such as "Dr, etc" aren't all called by God. We're supposed to hate what God hate and love what God loves. People need to start reading the Bible for themselves instead of just listening to what these wolves in sheep clothing pastors are preaching. It's time to wake up people, Christ is coming back son, and don't allow pastors such as John Wesley to deceive you. Homosexuality is an abomination, there's no way around what God says. We all would do well to read for ourselves what Bible says.. 1 Corinthians 6 says about homosexuality.. And in revelation 21 what it says about it.. Sexual immorality is wrong point blank period..
The Eziekel 16:49-50 context of Sodom and Gomorrah is attenuated from the Genesis account, which condemns homosexuality, by the Leviticus law and physiological logic. Eziekel's account focused on the overarching cause. Homosexuality was there effect. Cause and effect will always define integrity of purpose.
Yes, LGBTQIA also need to be appropriately loved and redeemed; but until they abandon their reprehensible culture, they should never be granted membership among believers because both New and Old Testament condemn it. In fact, Roman's 1:26-27, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, 1 Timothy 1:10, among other scriptures, clearly states that they cannot be a part of God's kingdom, while they remain unrepentant.
