A briefing means you are there to hear and learn about the White House’s policy efforts on prison reform. A discussion means all who attend are invited to engage and ask questions about the topic of discussion. So they knew before they even got on the plane to DC what this was all about. Don’t be a pawn!
They should have been better stewards of their presence. I watched one of the pastors say that he had told the WH he would not come if there were photos taken because he wasn’t there for that. When he got there and saw what was going on he could have and should have left. His lack of presence would have spoken more than his staying there for the “briefing” where he was crippled before he got there.

I’m not sure I agree with the way the Samuel passages were interpreted, David didn’t have those seven killed because they were a threat to his throne, it was the judgment of God on Saul’s family for their genocide of the Gibeonites. David spared Jonathan’s son Mephibosheth because of his covenant with Jonathan. Moreover, David does not seem paranoid about losing his kingly authority, otherwise he would have killed Joab and Absalom and he would have killed King Saul when he had the chance. If you want a passage that can be used to make ancillary commentary on the men who met with the President, You could’ve gone with 1 Kings 22 where the court prophets were saying to King Ahab “attack Ramoth Gilead and be victorious, for the Lord will deliver it into the king’s hand,” they were just being house prophets, saying things the king wanted to hear. The application would’ve been smoother in my view. But again, This is a rare moment of disagreement, you’re one of my favorite pastors. God bless.

He did a Bible study on David and said the same thing. That David was worried about it his own thrown and bloodlust and had these men killed. When scripturally it was God who told David He would remove David enemies, which was all of Saul's descendants. Whether it was a study over Paul or David, you would be amazed at how HJW rips these guys apart and pushes their flaws more than he pushes them being used by God. A very strange stance to take.

This is a very good and strong Word. I believe most are missing the bigger picture. If one does not go or wouldn't go to the invitation to the White House, that's an personal response but if God tells you to go, your personal response means nothing when you're being obedient to God's command .
