  • Since you've just discovered ASMR, I decided to put together this special video just for you. I experiment with a variety of methods and objects, some old and some new, to determine which ones work best for you. Who knows, maybe we'll get lucky and they'll all work!
    For those of you who aren't newbies or don't experience ASMR, maybe there's still something new in here for you, or at the very least it'll help you to relax and sleep.

    What is ASMR?
    ASMR stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response. It's a non-scientific word that an everyday person came up with to describe the feeling characterized as a pleasurable tingling sensation felt in the head, scalp, back and other regions of the body in response to visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory, and/or cognitive stimuli, such as crinkling bags, hand movements, whispering, personal attention or watching someone perform a task. It's like goosebumps but much more pleasant and without the uncomfortable chills.
    ASMR videos are meant to intentionally induce this sensation in the viewer, often referred to as "tingles", but the videos also serve to provide a relaxing, calming and soothing experience for the viewer. Many people who do not experience ASMR still enjoy the videos for their calming and sleepy effect.

    I really like the fact that he wears suits in his videos. It makes me feel very comfortable. I don’t know why. And the dark background is just perfect. He really knows what he’s doing

      I really appreciate the dark atmosphere in ER's videos. Too many ASMR videos that are overly bright by comparison...and if I'm trying to sleep, the bright doesn't help. And it pisses my wife off. So the dark atmosphere is appreciated.
      Regarding the suit(s?) - my gut tells me it's mainly for the fabric noises.

    Honestly feeling ASMR varies for me, I can have a day where I have to click through a couple dozens videos to find something, sometimes I just Know what will trigger it, and other, like this one (for the time being) just about everything gives me goosebumps. What usually is a big trigger, and probably why I like Deep One Dave, is someone speaking in a language I don't know, or being inaudible. as I like to fall asleep to ASMR, and when I don't know what the person is saying, my brain doesn't focus on it, and I can fall asleep easier.

    • @LadyBlueAzure
      @LadyBlueAzure 6 лет назад +14

      Dylan Fuller Love the way you articulated this. Now I understand even more why I love listening to korean ASMR. The way my brain doesn't work overtime to focus on what they're saying as well as the crisp pronunciation of their words.

    • @dylanfooler
      @dylanfooler 6 лет назад +7

      Blue Azure
      I like to listen to this ASMRtists (Ephemeral Rifts) videos with Deep One Dave, or Cthulhu (these are just a couple in case you wanted to check them out, he speaks it in other videos too), as they'll sometimes speak in the weird Lovecraftian language. If it's not them, I like to listen to Polish ASMR videos, idk why my brain likes Polish, but I sometimes listen to them too.

    All of them are quite soothing. However, if I were to select a main three that really trigger me...
    1. Whispers, both clear and unintelligible, in any language
    2. Soft tapping on objects like lampshades, produce, take your pick
    3. Fabric sounds
    I've experienced ASMR since I was small. I just dismissed it as muscle twitches or just a physiological response to heavy bass (first manifestation). Now that I know what was/is happening, I don't feel so nuts.
    Thanks, E.R.! Keep up the grand work!

    I've been watching your videos for a couple of months now and one thing really stands out to me from the rest of the ASMR crowd. It's your dedication to production values. From making sure the volume on your recording is balanced, to the way you make sure you capture the sound fully and clearly, the speed of your tapping, background, and use of common objects to make pleasing sounds.
    So, thanks you ER, I am always impressed with how great the sound is you get from the props you use, and the overall tempo is a treat.
    Oh, and your ideas are fantastic.
    Thanks for the great production quality and keep making videos.

    First time I experienced asmr was probably 30 years ago. It was while watching the original Dr. Dolittle. Starring Rex Harrison. I'd say a good amount of the younger generation probably associates Eddie Murphy with Dr. Dolittle.
    Anyways, I first experienced asmr while watching the 1967 version. For anyone who's seen it they may know the scene I'm speaking of. In this scene Dr. Dolittle is giving a horse an eye exam. He has a pointer and an oversized eye chart. He points to the letters and the horse softly neighs and snorts. Afterwards he puts a pair of glasses on the horse and repeats the process. The combination of the tapping and the audio buzz from the camera would send tingles all over me.
    I suspect I wore that section of the vcr tape out rewinding it over and over again.

Ironic then that as you ask, you proceed to the most effective trigger for me yet with the indistinguishable words... I've been having severe anxiety today and lack of sleep, but this is getting me through. I keep in mind what you said in an older video about not relying on ASMR, and being able to handle life on our own, and to a large degree that's been possible just from having spent time quieting my mind with your help and then carrying that on in day-to-day.... thanks Paul, you've changed my life and I'll always be thankful for that
