- In this Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie reaction we are watching Black Widow (2021)! Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy, and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger.

As a Russian I was somehow surprised with this movie: most of made-in-America Russian charachters are so badly caricatured, we even have special word for it: “kljukva”. And in this movie… Even so kljukva is still here (less than used to), somehow it’s not that annoying as always, just funny- in a good way. Pretty smart done comedy here!
P.S. I'm not sure, but maybe you'll be interested in seeing the very first russian comic-movie, "Major Grom: Plague Doctor"? It released on Netflix this week. Or, maybe if not full meter movie, than the short one "Major Grom" 2017.
It' s kinda very first steps in jeanre for our moviemakers- and comicmakers same.
So Madam Hydra is creating her own little team and both US Agent(Walker) and Black Widow II(Yelena) are being played for fools and that is for damn sure. I hope that Madam Hydra gets brutally murdered in the end. Because to be honest Madam Hydra is nothing but an annoying little eye sore and the one who kills her gets my respect forever.
Also I can't believe that Yelena is listening to someone that she barely knows about Nat's personal life. If Yelena kills Hawkeye then she will find out that she killed Nat's closet/oldest friend and she will feel the guilt of that. Madam Hydra is setting things in motion and it is clear that she is up to no good.
There are mess ups, plot holes in this film and as for me act one was the best part for me but act 2 is when it goes down hill and act three was the mess up of the film. But overall it gets a C grade for me and the biggest drawback of the film was it was 5 years to late and that Nat dies in Endgame(that was to true swan song of Nat and Black Widow would've been better if it came out sooner) and also most of the film was a copy and paste of the Winter Soldier(I know you have noticed it as well).

I liked that they showed yelena’s immaturity, she never had a childhood and now that she has freedom she definitely is showing that her emotional age is stuck at that of a child

The post credit scene just made me more excited for the Hawkeye show
I legit enjoyed this movie and one thing I didn’t even consider was how it touched the family dynamic. My two daughters hugged each other in the parking lot after the movie and said we are Natasha and Yelena and this movie brought me closer to you sister.

It cool to see someone just enjoy a movie and take it on its own terms instead of expecting it to be some big set up for something. Sometimes a movie can just be a movie
Yeah, I didn't even expect any set up, except just some backstory, because this is a prequel after all.
The big guy in prison who’s hand was broken was called Ursa and was told he was a “bay bear” by Alexei. This could the Mutant Ursa Mayor who could turn into a bear. They also mentioned Crimson Dynamo, in the comics he was the father of Whiplash the villain for IM2.

I didn’t think that I was attached to Nat in any shape or form! but I teared up and cried through a few scenes and sobbed at the end😅🥲
Solid. Enjoyed it more than I expected! Florence Pugh 10/10 😍 David Harbour amazing as well. I’m glad they gave Scarlett a good send off.
Dottie Underwood's generation, Melina's generation, and up to Nat's generation: psychological conditioning+pheromonal lock. After the Ohio mission and when Nat broke free of her psych brainwashing, Yelena's generation (including Antonia): chemical subjugation. Also, Melina was working on chemical subjugation without knowing that it was for the girls, while Oksana (widow killed by Yelena) worked on an antidote to chemical subjugation in secret.
I wonder why Natasha and Yelena have different mind control. Like Natasha had psychological mind control but Yelena had chemical mind control. Why didn’t Natasha get chemically mind controlled?
I know if nat got chemical mind control she probably wouldn’t have been an avenger

I absolutely LOVED this movie, one of the strongest MCU stand-alone films, both Natasha and Yelena are sensational, and Red Guardian steals every scene he is in!

They’re on his right arm under 2 roses in a banner, they’re written in Russian, Наташа & Елена. The fact that they’re written in Russian means he had it done after the Ohio mission.
Actually it's the second movies after Endgame. Spider-Man Far From Home was the first movie after Endgame.

I had zero interest in the Hawkeye show, but if Yelena is in it I am honour-bound to watch out of love and affection to her and her family and the sacrifices they have made.

Honestly I don’t intend on missing any show. I know “WandaVision,” “The Falcon & The Winter Soldier,” & “Loki” were the ones most hyped up, but I’m especially excited for “What If…?” I also think “Armor Wars” & “Secret Invasion” will be interesting. “She-Hulk” I’m really excited for due to the lack of Hulk characters in the MCU. I’m hoping for Red Hulk. “Moon Knight” I honestly think is gonna be the dark horse series & blow everyone away.
The relationship between Natasha and Yelena was so cute and amazing! And it's funny because in reality they have this cute friendship just like in the movie. I hope we can see the actresses in more movies. 😭

I loved this movie Natasha's whole background is crazy and it being about all the women that were taken is just, wow great writing all around and happy she saved all of them. Casey needs to watch the Fast and furious movies lol I just say 9 last week and it was great and fun

Everyone’s shitting on this movie cause they didn’t utilise taskmaster much but I still loved it and loved that the Dreykov was the main antagonist. Plus they kept taskmaster alive so she’ll probably come back to the MCU
Imho how they used Taskmaster in this movie fit and worked really well.
Honesty it kinda worked in the context of the movie but I get why people r upset, also people r not hating it as much though everyone recognizes the flaw with Taskmaster but at the same time it was a pretty enjoyable film for most people
I loved the movie anyways..
they didn't utilise her imo but im glad they kept her alive likewise with agatha and ghost. It leaves more room to explore them so i think fans are being a little too harsh. I can see the MCU improving in that area instead of killing all their villains in their earlier phases
i just finished watching this in the theater and i was trying not to cry and now i have a headache but it was worth it because i loved this movie so much im not over it

I really enjoyed this movie I like the taskmaster twist it works in the context of this movie it wouldn't make sense to include the actual character from the comics because Natasha doesn't have any personal stakes with that character in the comics or the mcu history making taskmaster dreykovs daughter is a great choice to have a get a chance to rectify her mistake and actually free Antonia and save her life
They crapped on this character just like they did mandarin in iron man! The guy has ties to shield, avengers, captain America, spiderman,u.s.agent and Deadpool but you can't figure out how to incorporate a villain turned hero with photographic reflexes who's trained heroes and villains into a movie!? Lazy writing is what that is!
I totally agree with you…it worked well for this movie and works as a good surprise being that it’s different from the comics. People like to throw out that lazy writing dig when they personally don’t like something. The MCU has shown on many occasions that when they change things from the comics that there’s reasons behind it. The mandarin fake out in Iron Man 3 was exactly what it was…a fake out and now we’re getting the real one and I’m sure the same thing will happen with Taskmaster. There’s always a bigger picture and most people don’t seem to realize that.

No. You can't do all those ties, and introduce a brand new character with his years of often conflicting comic narratives and tell the backstory of Natasha (who the movie is about) and establishing her ties to Yelena, and getting in all the action set pieces that most of the audience actually comes to the movie for (instead of comic book trivia) in one film without it looking like it was filmed by someone continously on crystal meth.
I partly agree but a lot of fan's wanted the classic Taskmaster and they probably feel a little ripped off by this version. I think if they wanted they could fix it and introduce the Taskmaster comic fans know later, maybe with a proper mask.
7/10 for me. This movie is amazing!! The plot is also dark and I love it. The fight scenes felt so raw, although some CGIs specially in the end is just kinda messy. Taskmaster was scary and cool too. I already know this isn't the Taskmaster from the comis and a different version but this Taskmaster is so great. My other main complain is that this movie took so long to arrive. I really wished this was released after Civil War and I'm sure this would have make a lot money too.

It's probably a coincidence but anyone notice how the Black Widow symbol is very similar to the pattern on the door to the Time Keepers lol beginning scene of Loki EP 5
Well the TVA symbol is an hour glass which is a way to keep time. Black widow spiders have a natural occurring hour glass shape them. So yeah it’s mostly coincidence

Yelena, Zemo and John Walker were members of Thunderbolts. So was Hawkeye and Bucky and Ghost (from Ant-Man and the Wasp) and Taskmaster. And obviously general Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross. I feel like they're setting Thunderbolts with everything.

Also the chemicals used to control the widows was introduced after Natasha crossed Dreykov and left. She was the reason he forced them to come up with that chemical control. So that is how Natasha got away and had no clue any of this was going on because she thought the Red Room was shut down.
I really liked this movie! Now everytime I watch Infinity War I can only think about the fact that Nat is wearing Yelena's vest ahahaha
Im so glad that val got introduced in fatws because she was supposed to make her first appearance in the end credits of black widow and Fatws made a better introduction to val looking forward to see yelena in Hawkeye

Loved this movie, loved the family dynamic, can't wait to see Yelena again this year in the Hawkeye series. Hopefully she befriends Kate Bishop in that series.
Our family loved this movie too. It was exciting, emotional, funny, and a great intro to future stories. Good stuff
This movie was fantastic!! The pacing was incredible! The action was so much fun and insane! The dialogue was both funny and dramatic. The more dramatic dialogue heavy scenes were a much needed change of pace to give variety. FLORENCE PUGHE AND SCAR JO ABSOLUTELY KILLED IT!! I left the movie
feeling sooo excited for Yelena and incredibly sad that Natasha finally had amazing action scenes, was likable and funny, and writing that showcased Scar Jo’s acting chops…and it is the last we will see of her :(. AND IT IS ALL BECAUSE “ BUT HAWKEYE HAS A FAMILY…and if Natasha doesn’t win a fight with Hawkeye it is anti-women” wtf :-/ sorry still a bit bitter that those were the reasons why Nat died and then never got acknowledged again in Endgame.
TaskMaster is a male in the comics
He can learn almost every heroes like Hawkeye, Cap , Spider-man , Black Panther and many more heroes fighting technique and moves with in a sec by observing them
He is a badass in the comics
Florence is by far the best part of the movie. The intro was awesome though

I remember Nat's line in the first Avengers movie. " Agent Barton was sent to kill me, he made a different call." I think Clint's whole interaction with Yelena will be the flipside of that.
I automatically remembered the series The Americans in the opening scene. Undercover Russians pretending to be US citizens. The difference is they had kids in the US and while in Black Widow they were already existing.
Florence is my favorite. The post credit scene is interesting.

My only main issue was that taskmaster was a kinda underwhelming character. Besides that, I liked this movie. I think it’s a top 10 mcu movie.

@@quesoturtle739 I think twins would be cool. Dreykov steals DNA from his favorite Widow that got away and implants it in surrogate and call them his children. Then the TVA comes and steals one. That variant shows up and chaos ensues.
I’d love an excuse to bring Nat back even though it’s a solid death.
@@HablaCarnage63 unfortunately it’s not up to marvel if she comes back, it’s entirely up to Scarlet. Marvel can approach her about a role and ask if she wants to reprise Natasha and she can deny that. Same with RDJ and Chris Evans

I feel like the fight scenes in this movie hit harder than most. We get so desensitized to all the big hits and crashes and such from superhero movies because people with powers or super suits can be thrown through buildings no problem. With this, I felt just about every punch.
Also I think Val is going to be a composite character. The Avengers have made it pretty clear that they don't want to listen to the governments anymore because of the bureaucracy and nationalistic BS. So I think Val is probably putting together a team (could be the Thunderbolts) that will answer directly to the government.
That opening song and credit scene was haunting, very very nice though.

I thought it was pretty good I’d give it like an 8. For me personally, it fell into that like category of just the typical good MCU movie. Idk if that makes sense. But that doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy it. It just wasn’t like a constant wow or mindfuck to me.

I enjoyed the movie. 7/10 as Marvels go. Nonetheless what they did to Taskmaster is one of the worst things the MCU has done thus far.....right up there with Iron Man 3 Mandarin. It's probably gonna haunt them for awhile.

I went with my family yesterday, we had a lot of fun, and my family isnt familiar with the comics so they weren't really bothered by the character, if anything they wanted to see more of Taskmaster, and as someone who knows the character I found their opinion interesting!!

Everything that had to do with characters (personalities, interactions, etc) I loved. The action and fights were a bit underwhelming for a BW movie but I enjoyed it all. A really good movie overall and one of the more serious on the MCU.
Taskmaster is clearly not the same character as in comics so I expect some people to be mad at that.
Cant wait to watch more Yelena, she had so much personality

@@simos6jipros154 Yelena's status as a hero will be tested indeed and I hope that both Yelena and Clint have a dialogue scene where they talk about Nat and what her life was like with her other family(The Avengers) and maybe Yelena can find a bigger purpose then just being an assassin.
They did taskmaster dirty….even if I ignore that they changed the character they should have given at least a proper final fight with natasha

For the post credit scene this movie was supposed to be out before F&TWS so Valentina was supposed to appear in this before the show.
Since Valentina is recruiting people to her team of who knows what, (probably Thunderbolts) I would love to see Yelena and John Walker working together since they are under Valentinas wing

Not sure the timeline works for Isaiah either Steve in the ice in ‘45 Isaiah in the pokey after Korea, ‘55ish. I’d like to believe Alexei. Perhaps he fought the Variant Captain America that came back to be with Peggy and before Hydra hijacked the Soviet program in the 70s Then they froze him and thawed Him out for the undercover mission in the 90s?
Why they did Task Master the way they did in this film. In the comics Task Master is officially a Mutant with the power they call Photographic reflexes where he can instantly learn any move he sees anyone else do in combat. He can not copy someone's actual powers, but he can copy all of their combat moves. Since there are still no Mutants in the MCU yet they had to make Task Master get the ability to copy people's fighting moves by a different means so they made the character have a partially computerized brain to do the same thing.
One glaring hole in the plot of the mind control though was when Malina was supposed to have used the mind control to make the pig stop breathing. Well breathing is not something our minds control directly, but is rather an autonomic function of our biology so it could not be controlled by a third party as they depicted in the film. The best they could do is make the subject, in this case the pig, hold their breathe and just like any good parent knows for those times when their child may threaten to hold their breathe all they have to do is wait for the kid to pass out and they will automatically start breathing again.

was never loyal to Hydra & it was a small part in her history.

I totally agree with this, Taskmaster just felt off for me and it just made me feel weird and a bit sad at how they handled a character like Taskmaster, still like the movie though.

Many people talk shit about it but it's a decent movie. They just expect too much. I know her backstory is not well explained in the movie and we didn't see what happened to Budapest. It's just Natasha facing another villain. It's like an average MCU movie and it's nice. It's better than Thor 2.

Totally agree with this, Went last night with my family and we had a lot of fun!!
It's not as bad as some of the reviewers made it sound like it is, sure the whole thing with Taskmaster might be underwhelming
But it was a fun movie nonetheless
@@Anu32148 yeah, It's nice to see Natasha again. And I love Yelena!!!! She's so funny and badass at the same time!! And you're right about the Taskmaster thing. Tbh I also expect to much about who might be behind the mask. But other than that, I really enjoyed the movie.
