SUBTLE PLOT TWIST:
It was real to all of them.
- Alexei (Red Guardian) has Natasha and Yelena’s names tattooed on his arm with 2 roses on them
- Melina didn’t want the undercover mission to end so they can stay as family, and made Natasha leave the photo album so she can take it for herself
- It’s always been real for Yelena as she was unaware of pretty much everything
- Natasha lived in denial but it has always been real for her all along

In the first Avengers movie, during Natasha's interrogation of Loki, he asks her about Draykov's daughter. Yes, they made a major movie plot out of a throwaway line from a movie ten years ago.

That's the thing that stands out to me- the creative brainpower of those behind the MCU
as much as iam not a big fan of this version of Taskmaster, gotta admit, the way they connect it with that one line from Avengers was pretty cool. tho iam hoping they can make a proper Taskmaster in the future

Florence Pugh crying during the dinner scene was amazing. Really sold the scene. Wish she will become an Avenger some day. Not for a while though I guess.

Yelena's whistle at Natasha's grave really teared me up.
Wouldn't it have been a mind-bending twist, if the scene ended with Yelena hearing somebody whistle back to her, but never revealing who did it??
@@jacob4920 they can't do that because people will think that it's Natasha, and then when they reveal it and it isn't her, people will be disappointed as hell.
@@matiasjimbov.5402 But we all know that it isn't. We've all seen "Endgame," and we know that it is SPECIFICALLY SPELLED OUT that Natasha cannot come back from the Soul Stone sacrifice. Hulk even tries, and that doesn't work.
The question becomes who else, besides Natasha, would know that whistle? It's a foundation-laying plot tease, without really giving anything away. And it leaves enough open that a storyteller can still be quite creative, with all the "Marvel" material he or she has to work with.
To me, the revelation that this had connections to "The Power Broker" was the real letdown. There's no mystery, and very little in the way of intrigue, outside of her targeting Hawkeye. Which we kinda already knew was going to happen anyway.

Natasha used those masks before if I recall correctly. She's very intelligent and calculating; after all she was the first to outsmart Loki. She said "Thank you for your cooperation" to him, so her saying it to Dreykof (sp?) was a smart callback.
Natashas mother’s gravestone was left out blank without her name or body while her gravestone was filled out but no body though either…

The last post-credit scene of Black Widow sets up the Thunderbolts or the Dark Avengers. Yelena will probably return in the Hawkeye series later this year!

I'm hoping for Thunderbolts, but William Hurt was looking pretty rough in this, so having Ross on for it might be asking a lot.
In case you didn't know, in the comics, Taskmaster is a man named Anthony "Tony" Masters. His ability to replicate people's movements comes from when he was a child, and he is capable of copying any hero (not just movements, he can also copy voices). the only character he can't copy is "Deadpool".

Well technically he can copy Deadpool. It's just that Deadpool's style so often just involves him running straight into bullets, swords and what have you. He can afford to have a complete disregard for personal safety. Taskmaster can't.

It’s been reported that Florence Pugh is in the Hawkeye series, so it’ll probably be a case of they fight for a bit then become mates. Probably Yelena will end up in the Avengers as a “new” Black Widow.
Man, when you look at the bigger context now, Natasha had to have found out Yelena and her folks were snapped by Thanos too. That would explain further why she was crying even 5 years after the Blip; having lost her other family on top on failing the world. Thanks to this movie, it gives Natasha even more motivation to reverse the Blip, so everyone especially Yelena would come back... But when Yelena and her parents did return, and they found out wat happened to Natasha.... I can't even imagine wat they went through, especially Yelena. Man, that just breaks your heart for the sisters all over again....

At this point in the film the only understanding we have is that they appear to be a nice Russian family living in the US. With this in mind we could easily postulate that they had fled Russia. In this case, it would be entirely logical to think that it was the KGB that had found them, to kill them/punish them. So - yes, nice idea Mary.
@@chrismoule7242 a nice Russian family living in the US during the COLD WAR. KGB wouldn’t have the ability to come in and take a family out during that time. Back then our federal agencies actually did their jobs.

I hope Yelena, Alexi and Melina make another appearance. It maybe Black Widow 2 in the same context as Black Panther 2.
I'm convinced Yelena will join the Avengers by the end of the Hawkeye miniseries.
They could still make a sequel, with Florence Pugh coming back as Yelena in a sequel, and or pop up in other projects.

I'm guessing that that's exactly what they'll do, especially if, as it looks in the end credits and Falcon and the Winter Soldier, someone, probably Ross, is putting together the Thunderbolts

The thing is Natasha and Clint might not superhumans but they do reach peak human ability, without super serum. They are good by genetic, that's why drakov took her as early generation of black widows. Natasha's defection to SHIELD was the reason why they use chemical brainwash.

Crimson Dynamo is an actual villain of Iron Man's from the comics. So I hope the little name drop means it's a hint that he'll show up in the Armor Wars Disney+ series.🙂
I suspected it was too cool a name to be random and immediately called it belonged to someone who exists.
Technically speaking Crimson Dynamo has already appeared in the MCU. The villain Whiplash from Iron Man 2 was heavily inspired by Crimson Dynamo, from his name to his obsession with getting revenge on Tony, to his crimson armored suit.

@@danielruiz8259 Yes and no. He shared the name of Crimson Dynamo, but other than that he had little in common with the character from the comic books. His son is the one who takes on the core traits of the character in the MCU, wanting to destroy Tony and building himself the crimson armor that gives the character his moniker. They even said in interviews at the time that Mickey Rourke's character is meant to be an amalgamation of Crimson Dynamo and Whiplash from the comics.
I think a better plot twist would have been that Antonia wasn't being mind controlled and truly hated Natasha for what she did to her. That way she could still come back as a villain in future movies and shows.
Knowing that there's a Taskmaster protocol, that migh mean that we are gonna see another version of Taskmaster in the future and even Anthonia can fight that other version.
If you read comics all black widows were given a variant of the super soldiers serum, Not enough to make them super strong but to make them at the top of their physical level
Sorry, have to nitpick the "nice vehicle" line right at the end. Mary, It was an Avenger's Quinjet!!!

The arrow marks in the apartment scene Yelena asks about are from when Clint was dispatched by SHIELD to kill Natasha, but didn't. This led to Nat working with Clint and ultimately them bombing Dreykov's building and daughter. Then Natasha defected to SHIELD from her Red Room/Soviet training. How they stopped her mind control influence at that point is a mystery. So THOSE are the arrows, they are not from Taskmaster. That's the story of Budapest that Clint and Nat often refer to, most notably in Avengers, and Age of Ultron.
Shame this didn't come out before Endgame but it was a nice send off for Natasha, really glad she finally had her own movie though as it was long overdue. Really loved Yelena so it was a great way to introduce her the the MCU. Really hope we get to see more of Alexei and Melina in the future though as I enjoyed those two.
This movie was to set up Natasha's replacement as the Black Widow in the movies going forward, her sister.
basically natasha and melina swapped places so that natasha can get to dracov, no one is a robot :)
And cos Melina could escape from the cell.

@@ihavenocommonsensebut2008 I can see how it IS "crying good," but you have to be rigged a certain way, emotionally, for it to trigger tears. It didn't work on me, but it did bring me close the edge (because I'm kinda rigged that way, emotionally).
That said, of course that's not going to happen to everybody.
I can't wait to see more from Yelena in the MCU, but I really really wish we could get more Nat and Yelena interactions 😔. I'm gonna miss Natasha so much.

Crying so much more right now. I think I am releasing just now that we lost Natasha and that's the end for Scarlett Johansson in the MCU. But I'm glad Yelena is coming to take her sister's place and we'll all be alright.

It is only a gravestone, Natasha's body is on Vormir. Since Yelena is set to appear in Hawkeye, my guess is that she starts as the villain of the show until Clint sets her right on how Natasha really died. I think the only thing the public and Valentina know is that she died and that Clint was with her, but I think that at the end of the Hawkeye show Clint will have recruited the second Widow for the Avengers. I don't think that Yelena stays on the Thunderbolts she is working for right now. Valentina did not recruit here at the grave, Yelena already works for her and whoever is pulling the strings in the background. It can be that Yelena is the one who will set the Russian mob aka the Tracksuit Mafia on the hunt for Clint, we will have to wait and see.
The end credit scene is Madam Hydra stirring the pot.

Hint about post credit scene: In Budapest, the marks in the wall that Helena thought were from bullets were marks from Hawkeye's arrow.
Mary - It's likely that both Val and Yelena are going to be in the Kate Bishop series involving Barton (Hawkeye)... it appears that this is an introduction to the plot of that upcoming show.
And if you were wondering the history of Countess Valentina... in the comics she was a lover of Nick Fury and 2nd in command with SHIELD before turning over to Hydra.

Valentina probably working with Ross, since in the comics Ross Has a Team called the Thunderbolts. ( Thunderbolts is Ross's nickname: Thunderbolt Ross )

Not to mention whatever she did during the 5-year blip.
Just remember the person that controls time/ the timeline let Dreykov turn people into Widows.
That Post Credit Scene made "Hawkeye" even more interesting, the irony is, Barton probably still blames himself more than even Yelena does for
her Sister dying. "Hawkeye" needs to drop before 2021, is over.
It's dropping around the end of the year. I believe it'll start releasing episodes in December and continue into early 2022.
@@jordanrothmeyer4722 I hope it is October 2021, I don't think "Hawkeye" will drop at the time you stated, reason being "The Book of Boba Fett" is supposed to drop in December 2021, Disney+ typically doesn't want a Star Wars Live Action show to compete with a Marvel Studios Live Action show, but this is just my hypothesis.
Its so sad that she didn't get a solo movie until after she is dead, and probably wont get more.

I think the answer to how to you imprison Alexei is from location. They're in the middle of siberia, so even if he escapes he'd just freeze to death

Fun fact: The aircraft is the same one used in infinity war so she must've picked up Sam and Steve in the aircraft after Civil War then saved Wanda and Vision in infinity war

I don´t think this is the case. More possible is Natasha get caught by Ross and puted in the Raft, too. Then Cap gets Sam, Wanda and Natasha out. We never knoew when Tony gets the phone and letter from Steve. But surely it was after or the same time Steve get the others out of Prison. After this Natasha would organized the jet for Team-Cap. Makes a lot more sense.

my personal take is that this film is all about family/relationship extremes Red Guardian knew it was actually fabricated but didn't care, he just enjoyed the experience while being aware that it wasn't his ideal situation. Melina is an example of what Natasha could have been if she had become fully indoctrinated/never been given an opportunity to see the other side because of Barton. Yelana is trying to figure out how she is supposed to feel because her life as never been hers until recently, but the whole time she doesn't care it wasn't real; its all she has ever known. Finally, Natasha is in denial that she has really changed despite saving the world on multiple occasions. An example of similar circumstance is the one that got away.
Together their flaws and strengths create a single whole person who accepts the past and present, has hope for the future while not caring about what the outside thinks when they look in.
Taskmaster in the comics is a former high-ranking SHIELD officer who used to train other SHIELD agents in combat. Feeling underpaid and underappreciated he left the organization, becoming one of the world's top mercenaries, able to take on incredibly difficult contracts thanks to his particular skill set. While he doesn't have superpowers as such, he does have what is known as 'mimetic muscle memory', more commonly referred to as photographic reflexes. He can perfectly copy a move after only seeing it performed once. As a trade-off with everything new he learns he also forgets something, usually in the from of memories, faces and names.
I didn't know the part about the forgetting. I used to own the comic with Taskmaster's first appearance. Had to sell a bunch of comics when I was broke years ago.
This movie was so good...it has scenes that remind me of James Bond, Captain America, Gamer, and G.I. Joe. Natasha went out with a BANG. Black Widows vs. Red Sparrows. Who'd win?

my favorite part is when yalena is telling her father about having a hysterectomy. hes disgusted but it is his fault why they had to have it.
Can we all agree that Black Widow is a better Marvel movie than Captain Marvel. Cause Natasha's backstory is much better than Carol Danvers backstory.

People forget that no one knows what happened to get the Soul Stone - just that Clint went and Natasha didn't come back. Seeing as it's a soul for a soul, it's logical to conclude that Clint had to kill Natasha to get it.
This is also a FANTASTIC way to tie in Black Widow with Hawkeye the show - Yelena can go after Clint for a season until they resolve their differences. Also, because they've introduced more "Black Widows" this means that they can continue the character in other Avengers movies because they can be played by anyone now, but most likely by Florence Pugh (there are hundreds that have to be deprogrammed with that gas, they only freed up a dozen at the flying base). I'm excited by the possibilities.
Its my hope that all those offerings at Natasha's grave are from the other widows. It seems fitting they would honor her in her sacrifice.

Now that Black Widow is out it's just a matter of time to get a trailer for Hawkeye, the Disney+ show about Hawkeye... i would guess that is the next appearance of Yelena, the new Black Widow in the MCU😋
I love how fatalistic Mary was with the Widows and Taskmaster until the very end, lol!
Yelena will be a villain in Hawkeye at first and then maybe will help Clint after she understands OR just walk out.
This will tie into the upcoming Hawkeye series coming up...
This message is very much belated, not sure you'll even notice it, but just in case previous commenters haven't noted this: Yelena laid Natasha's memorial headstone, and it was in their childhood "hometown of Ohio at a cemetery in a grove of trees with "forest stars" fireflies.
