Sorry guys. I saw BW yesterday afternoon and...."meh". It was okay I guess. I'm not sure what I was expecting but this wasn't the origin story I wanted. It honestly felt like a watered down version of 'Captain America: Winter Soldier'. The crashing airship/ helicarrier, the "I don't want to fight you" line didn't do it for me. And how the hell did that guy get all that stuff !? He just happened to have a Quinn jet lying around !? Nobody missed that jet? Nobody saw him flying it? I would have rather they used that guy from the Agents of SHIELD tv show. You know, the twins that watched over the saferooms. While it didn't bother me that Taskmaster was female, it DID bother me that Taskmaster and Secretary Ross were barely in the movie. Also, also, also I really like the RED GUARDIAN. I know he was just comic relief, but the few scenes he was in were great. Just my two ¢....
@Alex Thompson Really? Why didn't you like the end credit scene? And yes, the Taskmaster character was the weakest part of the movie. I expected this to be more of a 'spy' movie...
It would be tight to see the Widows vs. the Dora Milaje
@@devinaustin4539 My money would be on the Wakandans. Yes, the Widows are highly trained/ efficient killing machines, but the Dora Milaje are just as efficient. Plus, they were hand picked, willing and covered in vibranium equipment and weaponry. If they were to ever put on helmets, it would be game over. Just my 2 ¢....
@@sugadaddy7050 I can't disagree with you. I JUST WANT TO SEE IT 😂
I didn't expect Yelena to be such a funny character but she was so funny lolol she radiates little sis energy
“You’re such a mom.”

Just like Florence. I love that they made her character so funny. 😍
I like that they didn't just make her a Natasha-clone personality wise. She doesn't have the weight of guilt that Natasha has and is more of a snarky asshole.

I like that Nat was watching a Bond film, and Taskmaster was a Bond girl, and Rachel Weiss is married to Daniel Craig
David Harbour was also in a Bond movie (Quantum Of Solace)
Right?! Some AMAZING nods to James Bond!
Honestly its super unrealistic that Nat would watch a SPY movie off all things to unwind but ok.
@Author B.L. Alley it not realistic because noone who was abducted as a young child and put through horrendous trauma in a spy school would watch a fu*king spy movie for fun. Nat clearly struggles with her past and the opening credits did a beautiful job depicting just how dark and twisted her childhood was, so why would she ever voluntarily watch a fu*king spy movie? It like spidermen watching a movie about a young boy losing his uncle, it aint gonna happen.
@@alinac5512 Have you even seen that era of Bond? They're basically comedies.
Dude Yelena stole the show, she’s fuckin awesome
That’s good! I’m pretty sure that was one of their main points of this show as we do have a big future ahead of us. Post-credit confirmed.
They did that because so we can get to like her in future mcu projects
@@bandino8026 does not mean you undermine the role of Natasha, this might the last movie for her, you can have BW2 for yelena spotlight
Nah Red guardian did
He was the only reason I kept watching this horrible film
@@bilalwardak1999 okay? Lol people get so mad. Red guardian was great but mostly comedic relief, yelena’s character was more complex and they set her up as the new black widow
Florence Pugh is the best part of this movie, love her
She's usually the best part of every movie she's in.
Apart from her accent ;) Not as bad as Ray Winston ;)
I love her and she’s an amazing actress
She’s gorgeous, and stood out from beginning to end.
❤️❤️❤️.
and thats the horrible part since the movie is called Black widow
I have not seen a video reaction or a tweet who didn't like Florence Pugh. I think it's safe to say that 99% of viewers absolutely loved her.
she almost overshadowed scarjo for me, she's the star of the show.
Shes basically the main protaginist here
Yelena was on point.
Taskmaster was absolute shit.
Oh same! Every reactor says they loved her and some even said they liked her more than Nat in this movie.
@@CedricBassman I liked Taskmaster. Her twist was on theme and she reminds me of Ghost from Ant-Man, innocent girls who became anti-heros to survive.
Yelena: "I don't think we have enough fuel for St Petersburg"
Alexei: "Nah We're good we'll make it"
Yelena: "ok"
*Helicopter crashes*
That part of the movie was hilarious, probably the funniest part other than the pose thing
I love her character 😂
This movie was awesome!
Perfect combo of action, comedy and heart - and none of it felt forced to me or out of place…
It’s not often I have an emotional reaction to a superhero film - but that scene where Yelena was upset explaining that her ‘family’ was real to her - choked me up - as did the credit sequence
Loved this film!
lmao yeah, I love how she kept bringing the pose back up. And then the pay off when she did it herself was just *chef's kiss.
@@j3RicK24 I've been saying it since Iron Man 1 that shes a poser, to actually hear smo on screen say it so blunt LOL I love her already, she right there with Zemo in terms of adoration
I love that it's such a family thing in a family car, but with a large helicopter and assassins as daughters
Remember waaaay back in the first Avengers movie Loki mentioned "Dreykov's daughter" when talking about her red ledger? Nice to finally find out what actually happened.
Omg yes i,l need to rewatch that scene it will all make sense now
Of course they remember they talked in depth about it. Did you even watch this video?
This movie was real fun it didn’t even feel like 2 hours
I certainly didn’t notice!!!
This movie was 2 hours??
IKR, i watched it on theaters and by the time the credits were rolling it literally felt like only one hour or so, for some reason, The Avengers and other marvel movies feel way much longer, though they are only 10 or 20 minutes longer.
Florence Pugh definitely stole the show here but it would be criminal not to recognize how great David Harbour and Rachel Weisz are, especially when together. They had the parent vibes down. Definitely better than David's previous role in a superhero movie.
We don't talk about his Hellboy movie.
@@alucard624 I completely forgot about that. I was referring to the Green Hornet movie with Seth Rogan.
@@aidanrutter257 wait he was in that? wtf i dont even remember lol
@@kingbadger3325 He was one of the villains, a crooked D.A. I think.
He even was in Suicide Squad for what was like a cameo
Calvin's screams in the intro killed me. He's literally my spirit animal. I always do that type of annoying sounds
I really like the scene where she breaks her nose, they are going back to set up the things Nat is willing to do to save those she cares about, she really is willing to make self sacrifices for others she loves.
Since she severed the nerve, Nat just couldn’t smell anything for Infinity War and Endgame 💀
Does not surprise me almost everybody liked Yelena, Florence Pugh is a great actress and she played a great spy in The Little Drummer Girl, which was more realistic, this was kind of easy for her.. and I am conflicted about Taskmaster, but I get it, a little. I thought the movie was fine.
There’s an interesting bit about this taskmaster that I’m not sure if others have picked up on… this was a technological “solution” and so could be repeated… there could be another Taskmaster created after this one.
The problem is that they genderswapped taskmaster, and if they made it female to male I think there would be a much larger outcry, y’know?
She’s incredible as hell, and beautiful too.
@@captainpep3 I love when fans manage to get mad about a hypothetical situation they made up in the first place
@@captainpep3 I don’t think that’s a problem if there are multiple taskmasters. They can be independent characters.
A simple method to do this would be to establish the character BEFORE he gets the taskmaster business done to him.
Go farther by having the two Taskmasters face each other in another MCU mirror fight but this time they can each mix and match different avenger fighting styles while trying to counter each other.
Two different stories, hers is to atone or to define herself after her manipulation while his would be revenge or whatever really. Go wild on his motivations since the fundamental difference between the two would be she was forced to do it while he choose to be that way.
There’s meat there.
I was actually hoping for a fight in the movie that he Nat adopting different avenger styles, something different to try to counter Taskmaster in this one but… didn’t get it.
But still, a mirror fight with mixing Avenger fighting styles sounds pretty great to me. You can make a movie out of that.
Calvin is just here to annoy Aaron and I'm here for it
I thought it was particularly clever to use the same location card style that was used in Civil War, helping the viewer to subconsciously place this movie around the same time
they've done it in every movie since then. Endgame was full of them and Spider-Man as well. and the Disney+ shows
This movie was about as good as you could expect for something made five years too late. Part of me can't forgive that mistake by Disney/Marvel as the Black Widow character deserved better in Endgame. They had a scene with Cap and Tony where they discussion was 'Did she have family? -- 'We were her family'. Can you imagine if they put the post credit scene from this show as a post credit in Endgame only with her 3 family members from this show instead of Julia Louis-Dreyfus. None of them would have had to say a word at the grave. It would have wrecked me in a good way.
I hope/wish they filmed that which would allow this movie to be properly rewatched before the start of Infinity War and make Endgame even better. As it is, the current post credit scene is a spoiler so this show can't be watched where it should be in the series.
Captain Marvel also can’t be watched in chronological order for first timers.
Didn't think of that til now. Thanks for pointing it out.
To be fair, it is just a post-credits scene, not part of the main film, so you could just stop after Natasha goes to the Auinjer and put on _Infinity War,_ and then put on the end credits scene later.
Wasn’t expecting how funny it was. Seen too many DC films lately lol. Also, I loooved the little sister-big sister dynamic, they nailed that part.
I like how David Harbour plays Alexei, while in stranger things he was with a Russian scientist named Alexei
YES lol!! Great Easter Egg-ish moment! David Harbour looks like he's having SO MUCH fun playing the character as well! It's enriching!
There’s no way that’s just coincidence lol rip Alexei
“I just got of prison and uh…I have a lot of energy.”
@@edward-ft3qm I mean Alexei is one of the 4 different names Russians have😂
His character is an excellent mix from the Red Guardian and Ivan Petrovich, Nat's stepfather in the comics.
Yelena and Red Guardian are the absolute best part of this movie.
They both stole the show.
@@alucard624 I would’ve loved to see Captain America vs Red Guardian
They would be if Alexi and Milena weren’t irredeemable pieces of shit.
@@mr.stuffdoer8483 Agreed. Alexi was too much of a prick for me to forgive him. He straight up admitted he didn't care about their time as a family and still pretends they are a family.
He was funny, but honestly he didn't really have a character arc.
Terminator music
"You can put your weed in there"
"His head fell off"
The references and edits were on point.
I loved that editing it was hilarious
I love how they even made the _Terminator_ music quieter when the film wasn't onscreen, like it was really in the film.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed the Terminator music.
They got permission I guess, or the ownership copyright thing is expired.
Best first 15 minutes of a Marvel movie in my opinion. Those opening credits gave goosebumps.
Man that whole sequence is Marvel Netflix level of dark.
The first 45 min or so were absolute perfection
Opening credits are the best part of the movie lmao.
Yelena trolling Natasha's landing pose should be on a t-shirt
Improvised by the actress too lol
Just watched black widow and LOVED IT should have been made sooner we deserve more Natasha (and just more female lead superhero movies in general)
Couldn't agree more!
I just realized that Red Guardian could've actually fought Captain America when he said, since Cap went back in time to stay with Peggy, thus would've been out of the ice at the time Alexi said he fought Cap.
My personal theory is that it was actually Isaiah Bradley
so someone said yelena got snapped too, this is one of the reasons why natasha's sacrifice made more sense now.
So, I could not find my headphones when I started the video and when Calvin when ballistic during the opening one of my roommates actually knocked on my door and asked if I was okay
I really liked the opening credits to this movie, watching it in the theatre it gave me chills. Also same with the end credit scene, what a hype moment.
Agreed, the Nirvana cover was beautiful
I'm hungarian. So if I see or hear anything related to Hungary, I'll point it out. So... THIS MOVIE HAS BUDAPEST!!!! WOAH!!!
The Black Widow destroyed the streets of Budapest. It was an honor.
... whereas she just chilled in Norway. Well, except for that Taskmaster attack.
i dont know ive seen people say this movie was average, this inst a movie with someone with some insane powers etc, like they said its more of a spy type of movie, tbh i didnt expect the movie to be this good, yelena and alexei were so funny!!
It was excellent! So different to every other Marvel movie, and that's a compliment.
My issue isn’t that it’s not a “Superhero” movie, that genre has began expanding to encompass all others very quickly. I have an issue with just a bunch of what this movie is.
The main thing is portraying Alexi and Milena as good guys. They’re the worst. They don’t deserve redemption.
@@mr.stuffdoer8483 they were truly terrible parents. Especially Alexi 😒
@@easywhitechocolate They also just straight up put kids into slavery so they could be forced to become assassins. Yeah, really glad those people are the good guys of the story.

After over a year of delaying it's finally here!
So worth the wait
I LOVED this movie man, Florence Pugh made Yelena a total badass and one of the most interesting character in the MCU imo
Absolutely agree! She did such a phenomenal job here! looking forward to more!
Dreykov's pheromonal lock is similar to how Kilgrave used his mind control powers in the comics (also pheromones)

Y'all I know Yelena rocked but can we talk about all the badass scenes of Nat?
I was not expecting Yelena to be my favourite part of the movie. She was so cool, funny and cute. Great performance by Florence. I'm really hyped for Hawkeye now!
Me neither!! She was such a knockout!
this movie was dope, I really liked yelena she killed it
The actress who played the young Natasha, is Ever Anderson. She is the daughter of Milla Jovovich.
I could see the resemblance. For like a second I was like, "she looks a lot like Alice from resident evil."
The Terminator music killed me! Lol
I'm pretty sure red guardian was talking about Isaiah Bradley when he was saying he fought captain america. (I may be late to this theory cause I literally just saw the movie)
Yeah it occurred to me that he probably just fought an American super soldier and inferred that it's Captain America. He's been in jail for 20 years so probably doesn't realise they're two different people.
Oh yeah, now it makes sense to me
@@hawkins347 At the very least he would have understood one was white and 1 was black That's a huge distinction I assume this has something to do with Cap traveling back in time because Isaiah Bradley Would have been in jail in the 80s
@@drewwar9344 I mean maybe not...he was a pretty important person so he could have known there were multiple super soldiers but didn't know which was the original Captain America. Could have just decided he fought Captain America for selfish and nationalistic reasons.

Erik Voss says there is like 7000 widows according to that computer map.
He also said mephisto 7000 times
Yelena was easily the best part of this movie
I also really like red guardian
I really enjoyed this movie, especially the first half (hour) that was very emotionnal and spy-like.
I wish the movie stayed grounded like that with serious theme and impactful scene/fights.
Unfortunatly in the second half it kinda goes back to the classic marvel formula with jokes to defuse tense situations and over the top action scenes where black widow is jumping like superman(woman) and not taking scratchs after tanking explosions and falling from the sky etc.. ala fast and furious.
Still a really good movie though.
Yup, the action sequences were too over the top and unrealistic. I hoped it's gonna be way more grounded than this. And also the CGI seemed a little bit clunky and weird at some times. Of course Taskmaster was handled terribly. Still, an enjoyable movie.
i agree, this is the one movie, where going away from the typical mcu-formula whould have done good. As it is, it's an average-mcu movie. It could have been more. The best parts, for me, were the family-drama and the "forced" comedy did not help them. More drama, less comedy. I hope this is not something that becomes the norm, but the plot would have done better as an 6-10 episode series.
I disagree. I felt like most of the humor was natural
@@tripled2505 it was awkward it felt out of place they keep forcing it at the 2nd half of the movie killing the incredible tone it set up on the first half of the movie.

Can't wait for more of Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova in the MCU! She was an absolute scene stealer!

Dreykov reminded me SOOOO much of William Stryker in X-2. Views the hero as his 'creation'/'child', recognizes when she's disguised or not, and had his own child programmed/altered into a mindless weapon to fit his own ends. Also as the head of the Red Room, where Stryker ran the Weapon-X program.

It is dumb because every people knows Stark and Natasha sacrificed during the war. As a spy it is impossible she did not know that.
Why would Zemo help them though ?
Wanted to see more from Red Guardian, like getting the upperhand in taskmaster fight or seeing a badass action moment showing his fighting abilities and strength. Great movie though, loved the action scenes with taskmaster especially & Yelena was my fav part.

Its funny they talk about the vest with the many pockets. Sonce Rob Liefeld draws his characters with many pouches, he even made a character made of just Pouches name The Pouch.
I honestly really love this movie I’ve watched it twice now I truly love the family dynamic the movie has and the acting was spectacular I know a lot of people are hating the Taskmaster twist but I really like it actually I feel like it fits with the story and it still works for the character
In countries like Romania and China, at least in the past, very young girls were gauged for their potential to be gymnasts and sent to special schools to be future Olympians.
This had some of the best fight choreography and stunt work of any marvel movie. Task Master was so cool, the reveal was fine but I REALLY wanted Tony Masters.
Yelena is so good, she was my favourite the entire movie

It was really fun watching this with you guys! I saw Black Widow in theatres (I highly recommend!) and really wanted to see it again right after but don't want to pay $30 on Disney +. This video was a decent substitute. Thanks guys!
The open credits were so unsettling, the best opening for sure
My first thought after seeing young Natasha was "that girl looks like Milla Jovovich". And she is actually her daughter. =)
We were all expecting a movie with more of Natasha's origin. But we ended up getting an origin story for Yelena to take the mantle as Black Widow, and Florence Pugh owned it as always.
When a normal-looking dude flips/lifts something that weighs 5 times his own body. Every Marvel fan figures it out instantly, "Yep! He's a super-soldier"! Love it!😂😂
"Good job everyone!"-Treavor Slattery
Fun fact: Natasha was wearing the jacket with a lot of pockets in Infinity War.
This movie really reminded me of an 80s Cold War Action Movie but updated. My big takeaway was being sold on Yelena possibly taking up the Black Widow mantle. Just like Falcon and the Winter Soldier, it sold me on Sam and Yelena actually being compelling enough in their own regard to continue those names without being just "replacements."
The Terminator theme edits had me dying laughing
something cool i noticed was alexei’s hands have “karl marx” tattooed across his fingers, which i found pretty cool lmao
Considering this movie was sold, falsely, as Black Widow coming back to her family while running from the government it has some surprisingly good comedy beats. The helicopter falling out of the sky is one. The dozen darts that pump into Alexei. Yelena and the pose. Yelena and her vest. It's good stuff and it's built from character. Not just stupid jokes thrown in for the sake of it. They work in the context of what we're seeing which makes them even better. Well done Black Widow for being more enjoyable than people said you were.
The thing I didn't like about Taskmaster was that they made the character a silent, Terminator-esque killer.
In the comics he's a very snarky, bounty hunter who talks alot of shit
I think there's still the possibility of Antonia becoming more like Taskmaster from the comics. Now that she's free from her father's control she'll probably get more personality in the future.
@@SirStrangefolk Except she’s emotionally a child. She’s not becoming Taskmaster, I’d be surprised if we even see her again. She’s not a villain and probably doesn’t want to fight. On top of that she has none of the cunning and intellect of Taskmaster.
@@mr.stuffdoer8483 everything you mentioned is an assumption on your part and nothing that was established in the movie.
@@mr.stuffdoer8483 Is she though? Because she had the same conditioning as the other widows who are trained assassins. Yelena still fights and steals and breaks stuff while enjoying the freedom of choice. (Her vest.) Furthermore, she was raised by Dreykov of all people. Again she doesn't show cunning or intellect because Dreykov was in charge of her and he just wants her to get the job done. To act like this means she can't become the Taskmaster is just throwing a hissy fit because Marvel changed a character's origin story and they aren't exactly how you want them in their very first movie. It's like saying Captain Marvel has no personality when she has a single movie where she was brainwashed for a good part of it.
@@SirStrangefolk Considering her arc everything I said is a fair assumption.
