Regarding the question of catching up to someone in the air: Thats definitely possible depending on the pose their bodies take in the air. If Yelena on one hand is just falling and stretching out her limbs, she got a lot of air resistance which will slow her down, then we have Natasha on the other hand forming a streamlined pose, she will get significantly faster and could catch up to her.

    Things you may have missed
This movie takes place after Captain America: Civil War.
In Infinity War, Natasha is wearing Yelana's vest.
You said you hoped that Yelena and Hawkeye would get together but he has a family that we met in Civil War and Endgame.
The villain (Taskmaster) is a lot cooler in the comics than the movie. Has the ability to mimic moves perfectly just by seeing it once. That's why taskmaster was able to take Natasha in a fight. Maybe also mimicked other avengers with the way she threw her shield (like Cap) and shot her arrow (like Hawkeye)

Scarlett producing this was part of the reason she ended up suing Disney for not holding up their end of the deal as far as marketing and making it available on Disney+ while still in theaters. Luckily they were able to solve it amicably and Scarlett is reported to be working on a new Marvel project... no details yet on which characters are involved.
Florence Pugh brought so much to this and made an incredible character for Natasha to hand the torch to. Some of the funniest bits, like about not having a period because of the Red Room and the whole Natasha poser thing... Florence made that up herself.
Couple things to remember for the future: Remember what they were having for dinner both at the start and when they met up with the mom... mac and cheese. Remember the whistle.

I was very happy to pay the $20 or whatever it was for my family, buy some snacks and make it a family movie night. That whole debacle (and don't get me wrong, they did her contractually dirty) took what I thought was a great plan away. Obviously streaming wasn’t written in because it didn’t exist when she signed the contract but movies going to Disney+ is pure profit for Disney and prevents people from revering box office bonuses if it’s written in their contract. Instead Disney went the lawyer route of screwing the other side as much as possible instead of acting in good faith and it ruined it.

It's comic books, there's NEVER no possibility of coming back. However, the way Scarlett talks nowadays, it does seem unlikely. But even then, that would only mean the character couldn't come back if they were unwilling to recast.
And no one give me that crap about bringing back Nat or Tony cheapening their sacrifice. I doubt they made their decisions with the thought, "Hey, maybe I'll be resurrected someday." So, it was still every bit the same heroic sacrifice regardless of if they returned someday. This isn't to say that I think they SHOULD bring them back. I'm just saying it's never impossible in comic books.

She trained in the Red Room and was so good that she had exceed all of Natasha's previous records and the second person to hold the title of Black Widow. She was often task with bringing her down, but Natasha's had the advantage of years in the field that Yelena could never actually beat her. The new glasses are pretty sweet. Got a bit of a Tony Stark vibe to them
It’s not the best MCU movie but imo not the worst. That dishonor goes to Eternals
Fun fact: young Natasha is played by Milla Jovovich’s (Alice from Resident Evil) daughter
Yes “Thunderbolt” Ross has appeared in The Incredible Hulk, Civil War and briefly in Infinity War. RIP William Hurt 🙏🏻
“You’re forgetting Draykov’s daughter” this one is very easy to miss but in The Avengers when Loki was trying to manipulate Nat, he asked if she could wash away so much red, looks her in the eye and says “Draykov’s daughter.” This movie finally explained what that was all about. This movie also explains what the Budapest thing with Clint was and why in Endgame Nat talked about how the Avengers were her only “real” family
“Can the person catch up?” Yes actually. Yelena having her arms and legs out slows her fall due to drag and Nat having everything tucked in makes her more aerodynamic therefore faster, plus she had a running start so she has momentum going into the dive. It would be akin to dropping a piece of paper from your roof and then throwing a dart at it. That dart would definitely hit the paper before either of them hit the ground
There’s several reasons this movie got rated so low:
    1. This movie got made AFTER Nat was already dead in universe but takes place between Civil War and Infinity War so it didn’t make a whole lot of sense to make the movie to begin with (it was meant to come out early on in the MCU but a sexist exec kept preventing it from happening)
    2. This movie got delayed like 4-5 times so after it came out most thought it hadn’t been worth the wait
    3. Believe it or not a lot of people don’t necessarily like when MCU movies are too comedic.
    4. The worst offense this movie did was completely butcher Taskmaster. My info on him is limited but if I’m remembering right, in the comics Taskmaster has an eidetic memory so can learn people’s fighting style and either replicate or defend against them after a single encounter and he’s actually a very tough adversary for The Avengers. Most people disliked the gender swap but even more people hated how they turned the badass Taskmaster into basically Draykov’s mind controlled guard dog. And the fact Nat defeated her so easily in this did not help.
    5. I don’t know if this at all contributed to it but this was the first movie to release after Disney+ launched so Disney released this both theatrically and on D+ on the same day. However ScarJo’s contract hadn’t been renegotiated so she wasn’t making any money from the D+ views. And D+ views were much higher than theaters cuz of convenience and price so she was getting screwed out of a lot of money. So she sued and that was a whole thing for a month or so. I think Disney eventually settled and made it a new rule that movies would be solely in theaters for at least 45 days before being added to D+
I agree, this movie is fine and has some fun moments but overall one of the weaker entries. Phase 4 was very experimental so there’s gonna be a few hits and misses as you go along

Fun fact: It's actually difficult and somewhat dangerous to attack a single person as a large group. There's only so many openings to inflict harm and your chances of hurting an ally by mistake are pretty high. Realistically, you can only have around 2-3 people on a single person before things get just as dangerous for the group as they are for the individual, and a well trained lone fighter can usually pretty easily maneuver to make even that small number of people ineffective and manipulate things to get the number of simultaneous assailants down to one.

No man I loved it. One of the best for me. Don’t get the hate, it was creative and fantastic and introduces Yelena, I can’t wait to see more of her in the future of the MCU. I think it was brilliant the way they did this, the things we didn’t get to see in the midst of the Civil War plot. Her background is super emotional and I think it adds to the feeling of loss we all have after losing her in End Game. The beginning sequence made me shed a tear for sure. Yeah, I understand what you mean about Taskmaster, but I don’t really view her as the villain of the movie. After it’s revealed that her own father was controlling her as if she was just another Black Widow she became a victim of sorts in my mind. Dracov is the real villain. He wasn’t the best either since we didn’t really see him for the majority of the film, but I thought the way she broke the connection between him and freed the others were pretty badass.
If we are putting out suggestions, I’d suggest checking out Wednesday. I don’t know if your familiar with the Adams Family or any of the shows and movies but it’s an 8 episode series focusing on one of the Adams kids ( Wednesday, of course). She gets sent off to this fancy boarding school for “outcasts” ( which basically just means unusual people, monsters, kids with powers- very monster high/ X-menish). It’s directed by Tim Burton ( which has only had one bad egg in his career in my opinion), and gets very dark at times, has a bit of teen drama but is defined by the strong murder mystery elements. There’s already talk of it getting a season two this early after release, which should already tell you it’s worth it.

If you didn't notice, Taskmaster watched video of all of the avengers to mimic their moves. You can see them use a lot of Natasha's moves, a bunch of Winter Soldier (especially because Hydra/Shield worked with the Red Room and supposedly Bucky as Winter Soldier taught a bunch of the widows gun combat moves and the mind control developed was based on what they used with Winter Soldiers) plus some Cap, Rhodey, Spiderman and Hawkeye.

Taskmaster, the villain of this movie, is actually an amazing villain in the comics and most games and shows they've appeared in. Usually a man, he has photographic muscle memory, meaning if he sees someone do anything, he can copy it perfectly. He's copied the fighting styles of Captain America, Spider-Man, Deadpool, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and many other heroes and villains making him a formidable foe in close quarters. He's typically a henchman, but he's gone on to run a dojo to teach other villains how to fight.

Taskmaster was a let down in this when compared to the comics. Taskmaster was a villain with a superpower called, Photographic Reflexes. Which meant, he could watch someone doing rodeo stuff for about an hour and then he could do rodeo stuff. Any sort of physical type of skill he could replicate at master level if he viewed a master for an hour. He gave the avengers a run for their money early on with Caps fighting and shield abilities, Hawkeye's Bow abilities, etc.

    Fun with physics:
When it comes to falling objects, wind resistance is the crucial factor. If you're falling, and you want to reduce your velocity as much as possible. you lie flat and spread your arms and legs to maximize your cross-sectional surface area and thus wind resistance. (Watch Captain America when he jumps out of the elevator at the Triskelion in *Captain America: The Winter Soldier.) If you want to fall faster, you point your entire body like a spear straight down, much like a high diver. This minimizes your cross-section and cuts down wind resistance. So it's at least theoretically possible for a "pointy" fast-falling individual to "catch up" with a "flat" slower-falling one.

For the question of; If someone falls/jumps off something high and someone jumps after them, can they catch up, the answer is yes. If the first person flares out as much as possible parallel to the ground to present the largest surface area it'll slow their descent comparatively to the pursuer if the second jumper leans into the fall and tucks into a perpendicular dive towards the ground. A smaller surface area and a narrow profile produces less drag and would let the pursuer approach terminal velocity faster and catch up to a falling target if the target is doing anything to slow their fall and isn't also at or approaching terminal velocity.

I agree that it was a fun movie. Not near the bottom at all for me. I went into it with low expectations, just feeling like, although BW has been such a great character, this was just a movie that few wanted and nobody needed. The thing about Natasha is that she is a great supporting character. There was really no need to try to make her a compelling lead character. That aspect of the film was actually handled well, IMO. For all intents and purposes, Natasha was practically a co-lead in what ended up being a small ensemble movie, and that worked well. It was great to title it "Black Widow," because it wasn't a Natasha movie--it was a movie about black widows. And while this film didn't end up making me love Yelena, it gave us a great arc and lots of development for her that is making her a great character moving forward.
There were basically three things that bugged me: (1) Taskmaster was poorly written and a wasted opportunity; (2) the action in the final act was so over the top that it kind of took me out of the moment; and (3) the editing/writing at the very end between Natasha giving herself up and about to be taken into custody, and then mysteriously being free and about to go break everyone out of The Raft made no sense. On point #3, I say "editing/writing" because I don't know which. I don't know if it was actually written well, but crucial information was left on the cutting room floor, or if it was just badly written from the beginning. But it made no sense and still bugs me. We know from Civil War, Infinity War, and the beginning of this film that Ross was really hot to have her locked up. It makes no sense for her to be just about to be locked up, and then mysteriously free. Either don't have her get caught in the first place, or have her make a comment about getting caught on purpose and having contacts that will help her break everyone out from the inside, or something. This ending bugged me.
That said, again, I again agree that it was an overall run, enjoyable Marvel movie. I enjoyed this one more than I thought I would, and would put it somewhere in the middle of the pack for the MCU individual hero films.

    Great reaction buddy.
There is a teaser easter egg setting this movie up WAAAAYYY back in the first Avengers movie in 2012, when Loki was the bad guy and was captured and was a prisoner on the Helicarrier. Loki had mind-controlled Clint and got information about Natasha, and as a result - when Natasha went to interrogate Loki, and said she had a lot of red in her ledger, Loki responded, "can you wipe out that much red? Drakov's daughter?". It took 9 years, but they finally paid that line off here in Black Widow.
As far as where this falls in the timeline - it's between Civil War and Infinity War. If you recall in Infinity War when we first see Natasha, she has blonde hair and that vest on, and wears it throughout Infinity War.
Alexi is "the Red Guardian" who was the Russian counterpart to Captain America. He had some version of a super soldier serum although it's not stated exactly how all that went down.
The ending with Val sets up the Hawkeye show which is coming up soon on your radar, it was really good too I thought.
I also really liked this movie and I liked the focus on the family aspect. Yelena's scene at the table, "it was real to me", boy, that gets me.
    Cheers
