The parallel in the end with the kids was also ingenious. Ame decided to be a wolf after finding himself despite being afraid as a child. While the other one chose to stay human when she was the most wolf like as a kid.
Low key saw it coming I literally thought to myself “I bet the more scared one will be more wolf like in the end and the other will be more human like”
Yeah, she is a people pleaser for sure. Always sacrificing for everyone like she has no personality or self worth. The moment the wolf guy doesn't show up for the "date" I would have been GONE. To my warm safe home. Instead of sitting on a street corner in the dark like an invitation to abuse me. She created all her hardships herself.
One of my all time favorite movies. I had my parents watch it on a Mother's day, and even though neither of them cares for anime/animated media, the fact that my Dad did not fall asleep during it and liked it is a a big Thumbs Up. Just love it.
This movie is simply amazing, fricking amazing and underrated. Nothing like what watched before, it feels like I'm observing life of a single mother and some normal kids, but at the same time there's the supernatural element. The detail is amazing, the characters feel real. The central element that is family and love of a mother, is so touching I had to tear up watching it. Thank you for reacting to this. Possible the perfect anime movie, contending with "Your Name".
I disagree. I found the motivations lacking. The character arc of the brother meh, esp with Japanese/asian culture, the prospect of abandoning your widowed mother is pretty selfish. Strong beginning and middle and avg to below average ending.
@@ManiacalBlueberry no, she's the selfless door mat type that gets taken advantage of. You expend all your time, energy and resources and love into something that eventually has little to no returns. @@RecoveringChristian Bruh, it just sounds like you have a problem with motherhood in general. I mean, motherhood is the journey, not the end result. And she isn't a selfless doormat, she fights for her kids and her place in the world. She fights against society (ie. people telling her to give up on moving to the country, her fighting society to keep her kids safe and healthy without them being science projects lol) and nature (her trying to teach her kids their wolf side without it being out of control, and her trying to live in nature). I love when they first move to the country so much. It's so beautiful, the landscapes, music, colors, everything is gorgeous and peaceful but also feels real because of the struggles to fix up the house (which by the way is the most beautiful house I've ever seen and you can't change my mind). And the characters' personalities really start to show and just the artwork, character and background designs, and soundtracks are wonderful. That place in the country is exactly where I want to live. The sequel should be told from the cousins point of view (particularly Yuki's child) to make the film stand-alone from the original.
Mamoru Hosoda already did a sequel already, The Girl who Leapt Through Time (which was a stand-alone sequel to the original novel).
So glad you enjoyed the movie, I adored your reactions. You guys got yourself a new subscriber! I highly recommend you guys check out Maquia When the promised flower blooms, such an underrated movie by far. It's visually stunning and the story is amazing, you won't be disappointed!!!!!!!
I strongly believe the old farmer was a Wolf . There is a reason his crops dont get affected , he pisses on them hehe.
Lol
weird that you started with Mamoru Hosoda's middle child. But since you already started... :P might as well marathon it from The Girl Who Leapt Through Time all the way to Mirai. :D
I need to watch this again this movie is amazing
I remember watching this with my mom at a convention and both of us crying by the end.
