It's a brilliant design, doing what It was meant to do: promote the film and get people to talk about it online. Good design is not necessarily pretty. I'm sure the idea came after the first film premiered and everyone said the sandworms' mouths looked like... you know...

This is the closest we’ll come to having a Sarlacc Pit sketch and I’m willing to accept that.
A Sarlacc Pit sketch would either be too vulgar or too expensive for network TV. So, unless SNL moves to cable or streaming and/or gets a bigger budget, this will have to do.
You're not wrong. Especially since the Sarlac is loosely based on the sandworms from Dune anyway. Actually, a lot of Star Wars is directly inspired by Dune.

So, the first movie and the upcoming sequel is my outlet. This SNL skit gave me a boost before the sequel comes out. Thanks so much guys, really. This is hilarious.
