People say that Lightning losing her emotions in her third game was a step backwards in her character development, but personally, I think that considering what happened to her until that scene of her talking with the representation of her severed emotions, Lightning did had a consistant character arc- it was about gaining new things in her life, losing them, and in the end, she figures out the source of her greatest obstacle- there is a piece of her that she herself cut away a long time ago, and when she realizes that she dosen't want to be left alone, she calls out for her sister, begging for her help, and in return, Lightning literaly reunites with that lost part of herself, that she cut away a long time ago, when she was a kid who just wanted to protect her little sister. I think that it's a perfect ending for Lightning's arc as a character, and the fact that she has one final badass showdown with Bhunivelze shortly afterwards shows that she hadn't lost her edge in the slightest. It's really sad that there are people who only remember her as that cold and harsh person that she was at the beginning of the trilogy's first game, because she DID went through character development, and she deserves to be recognized for it.
People won't get it You know what people usually do: If they don't like it, they're gonna hate it... And most of the time, they hate it because it is different... People just suck...
Her loss of emotions actually makes sense. It's been part of the lore of Fabula Nova Crystallis since the first XIII game that Bhunivelze aka god cannot see inside human hearts since they're infused with Chaos as Etro has been placing fragments of Chaos inside human hearts when their souls were reborn as a sneaky way and long term plan to sabotage Bhunivelze's utopian reality after he almost killed her and sent her to the Unseen Realm. Bhunivelze's goal in the third game is to create a new world free from Chaos, where humans will be nothing by empty vessels or puppets, similar to how the Fal'Cie only exist to do a given task and cannot deviate from it, which is why they have to brand humans as l'Cie to do their bidding for them. Anything infused with Chaos becomes unpredictable and "chaotic" (hence the name) and Bhunivelze absolutely hates that, he likes for his creations to be like machines. In the third game, Lightning's heart has been stripped from Chaos by Bhunivelze as she was reborn as the Savior, she clearly mentions several times throughout the game that a part of her has been missing since she woke up from her crystal sleep and later realizes that the Chaos from her heart is what's missing. It's similar to how Hope in the Ark also has no emotions when he has plenty in the other games, he has been reborn by Bhunivelze and stripped from the Chaos in his heart, he says that he vaguely remembers fragments of his former life but that he only exists to serve Bhunivelze now, and he is discarded on day-13 when his task is done. Nothing more than a puppet, an empty vessel for Bhunivelze to use and discard when not needed anymore, same as Lightning in the third game, this is what Bhunivelze wanted to turn humanity into in his new world, fortunately that didn't happen.
Complaining about Lightning losing her emotions is asinine anyway since it's literally plot relevant point hinting that Bhunivelze isn't a true benevolent god that he poses as.

Loved the series as a whole. FF13 the graphics were breath taking in HD. FF13-2 the time travel aspect was good and the ending cutting onions. Lighting returns enjoyed the combat and the characters coming together for a great ending.
The moment you arrive on Gran Pulse in XIII will always be one of my favorite in all of gaming, the beauty and vastness of the natural environments after most of the game taking place in narrow corridors and rooms on Cocoon, breathtaking.
I cried during the flachback scene. I don't really care about the incoherence in the story or the character developments being bad. I care about the journey, and I love it.

Everything in this whole video is so good. Odin showing that extra respect for the journey to Lightning. But that "I love you, I always have/" always gets me started. This trilogy is one of the best. AND HONESTLY I love most ff games. I cant hate any of them. wish people wouldnt fight which one is the best.
The one thing that I missed and wanted in this game the most was having my friends beside me from start to finish I get that its lightings story but to have all or at least some of her friends right there with her would have made this game even greater.
I just watched this again. Real master is caius. Though for the wrong reasons, he was right and his actions weren't all bad. The gods were the worst. I realized in ff even the good gods aren't good. This is still one of my fave games
You know, clearly a lot of love was put into this trilogy, the animation, the effects, even some of the voice acting was superb. It's just a shame a bad script ruined a lot of it
Its funny you say that cause when they show that Magitech Armor in 13 and said it came from Pulse I always assumed Pulse was the world in FF6 and Cocoon was made because of what Kefka did to the world half way through! So it would be kinda neat if they were the lifestream and 13 basically connects 6 and 7 :D
No thats not the life stream, that just all human souls going to a new world and if you ws watching. You see it went by planets within are own solar system. They ended up here on EARTH. Meaning Lightning is alive on earth somewhere right now. Also FF10 is the game that actually have connections with ff7.
Out of all the FF that I've played, the ost/bgm on this one really gives me goosebumps. Gosh, i miss this serirs. Hopefully they will recreate this on PS5 :(
What could've changed 13-2 for me is if it was a trio instead than just Serah and Noel. While Mog, could've been that, he's more of a pet. If Snow joined the trio then he could've atleast played a balthier like role than just be the "leading man" off screen and it would've prevented any tension between Serah and Noel and make Noel and Yeul's story more empathetic.
@@luitsatrap Story wise I don't think Snow would leave Serah again so I was confused him always going around and leaving her after ff13. What's more, it could've improved the battle system and bring out a unique style for each character. Noel would be the basic balanced classic main hero as the Guardian of Yeul. His main role would be Com and Syn. Serah, with Mog, will be the "summoner" and her paradigm is more of summoning the monsters captured and using their attacks. Her main role is Rav and Sab. Snow, as the last L'cie would be the true mage of the group and to expand on this, he would be allowed to become a L'cie from other elements so he can cast other magic. His role would be Sen and Rav.
I cried, I loved this. Please don't pull a ffx ending. Also 13 had its bad moments but this did have great characters. I like the fact it was a creation myth that still had technology
was this the way of them connecting final fantasy 13 to 7?? it feels like this explains why the life stream exists and how the crystal Nova series ends all in one game
So a thought occurred to me. Barthandelous won. His goal was to have you kill Orphan, bring down Cocoon, revive the "maker" by letting darkness into the world by the countless deaths of Cocoon falling. He failed in 13 1. 13 2 comes by and Caius put himself into a win win situation. If he kills Lightning, etro dies and darkness enters the world, if He dies, etro dies and darkness enters the world. Allowing Barthandelous plan to follow through 500 years later than planned. However. The swarm of Deaths for Barthandelous was to create a new world. After you defeat the final boss of 13 3 the world comes to an end and is created anew. Meaning after 500 years of 13 2 and 500 years of darkness into 13 3. Barthandelous' goal was achieved. Flood the world into darkness for the Maker to awaken to create a brand new world to start fresh. The villains in 13 and their motivations and actions are phenomenally done.
The Boss villains behind XIII & XIII-2 we were fighting against were just tools of destruction, tools of Bhunievelze. Makes sense to why the story was liner b/c the real villain was kept in the shadows until LR. He knew Lighting was potentially Etro from the beginning. All 3 villains had 1 thing in common tho they all wanted to destroy mankind.
Aww, this was one crazy ride but the ending really is touching and epic. Wish we saw more though after they were reborn into the new world. Anyways, favorite part that seems to give me wet eyes is seeing Serah saying goodbye to Mog at 15:37. Kupo!!
The scene with Caius though. My heart just skips a beat. Not the fate I wanted for him and Lightning's distraught look at it. And the way he sounds when he let's the last of the Yeuls go with Noel. This ending hit right in the feels.

Christian Powell Thank you very much.
Because the story in your story doesn't matter. As long as it has a regurgitated message of friendship and love it's good.
I totally agree with you. Final Fantasy 4 ever.
Sans Comic i bilive that FFVII, X,XII,XIII,XV,IX,V,IV are the best but most of them FFXV and FFVII
snow did NOT get enough time with serah :(
xsirenflyx honestly I really wished Noel and serah could be close 😂😂😢😢😢😢😢🔥 but tru
Together***
@@voidgenix.. Hell no. Snow x Serah forever!
And Noel was in love with Yeul.
Same @Swuirtt
I ship Noel x Serah, but I totes accept Serah with Snow, and tbh, while Serah and Noel is my FF otp, I would've gotten real mad had Snow not at least SEEN Serah after all they've been through
noel did 😍😍
10:25 I suddenly laugh that time then i think,"what am i laughing about??" Then i realize that, It would be very funny if Lightning catches Serah and then she accidently kick noel or snow from behind when they spin...
It has been 2 years but this comment really made me laugh so hard haha thanks
Lmao
Hahaha, your a legend dude
I cried through the whole ending Crying tears of happiness Cause now lightning gets peace..
And she can live as normal human
I love how the ff13 trilogy is basically the origin story for OR world
At 2:03 Lightning uses “Last Resort” à signature move of Hope
I cried. Anyone else crying?
Violet Shotter me because kupo went away
Violet Shotter Damn onion ninjas
I am rn
No
11:20 did Lightning just kill God using all of humanity as a weapon?
a false god... but yeah she did haha
God basically made her a goddess to stand at his side but she wasn't strong enough alone to defeat him so she used Humanity to give her the push of power she needed to best him.
This is a Satanic project....
@@naked4400 yup lol who knew who directed the blasphemy
Yup, but I gotta admit, I ain't been feeling right, so I don't think weaponizing our souls and stabbing our heads into the evaporating chest of a god with the fiery strength of a million suns was very healthy for us😂
I liked this series because Caius Ballad got what he wanted. He played them like a fiddle.
Loved the series as a whole. FF13 the graphics were breath taking in HD. FF13-2 the time travel aspect was good and the ending cutting onions. Lighting returns enjoyed the combat and the characters coming together for a great ending.
Right?! It was so cool!
cutting onions 🤣
The moment you arrive on Gran Pulse in XIII will always be one of my favorite in all of gaming, the beauty and vastness of the natural environments after most of the game taking place in narrow corridors and rooms on Cocoon, breathtaking.
"Damn you Square Enix why do you have to go for the HEART everytime"!😢
The flashback gave me the feels
torvekia jones. what happened to caius is he.die ?
That flashback from FF XIII to the last episode made me so sad ...
Bruh no lie it was like saying goodbye to friends going away.
i wish these characters were brought back, even just for a bit. They were all truly amazing.
This was one of my favourite trilogies
I cried during the flachback scene. I don't really care about the incoherence in the story or the character developments being bad. I care about the journey, and I love it.
As 'meh' as this and 2's storytelling was, this ending left enough of an impression on me that to this day I still get emotional at 16:17. Not that you can see it with this video's fricken brightness level.
How in the world can anybody hate these games I mean come on! that was a happy ending to the series.i am such a big fan of the characters in these ff 13 games then I ever was in any other final fantasy games I played. This trilogy is amazing square enx did an amazing job.ff 13 2 is my all time favorite ff game ever made.i hope they remaster these games for PS4 I would pre order this trilogy in a heartbeat at my local GameStop if square would do so.
the entire trilogy was trash...i pray they never remake this trash
@@wildinstinct1585 stfu
Because the writing and gameplay are atrocious.
@@wildinstinct1585: Too late, they already did with 15, and seriously 13 was not bad at all, just a bunch of anti-hype whiners looking for something to hate on. Did it need the sequels, no, but it was an ok game and story.
@@squallofthedai to be honest you saying something like that shows a great amount of ignorance, it was obvious at that point that the story had problems problems that people didn't like. The gameplay also had problems people also didn't like that. Before you go around making assumptions about why people don't like something perhaps you should take the time to think more about why somebody doesn't like the 13 trilogy
This ending seems so cushy and soft compared to what I just went through with XV's ending...
XV is like XIII done right.
pttoau Weldezion Agreed
pttoau Weldezion XV is more like 13 versus done wrong.
yun fang literaly.
ApplesauceFarts 😂😂 Right?
What an incredible ending for such an amazing story. Just finished the game here, I've been waiting for so long to play it. It's just beautiful in all aspects.
I'm a really lucky guy for having the chance of knowing such amazing story in my lifetime 🥰
And I hope we can all share and play as much as we can, while we still can. Love to everyone.
I can't watch this without crying. Every single time.
when everyone came together again I started ballin.
Wait _I'mloading ILL NEVER--
WE'LL NEVER GIVE UP
To quote my favorite video game of all time, “what we wish for... is a world with no need for gods!”
It's beautiful, makes me feel cry and happy......
i honestly loved this game and it was one of their best her and cloud perfect examples of how mentality can have everything to do with what side your fighting on and why
10:49
*POWER OF FRIENDSHIP AND LOVE OVER ALL!*
EVEN A GOD CAN'T STOP ME WITH THIS POWER!
Sounds like something from Yu-Gi-Oh tbh...
@@Schlomooo or fairy tail..oh wait
people complaint on ffxiii series gameplay but for me, its the story tht people should focus on. it so touching, kinda mix feeling with happy and sad. evry characters in ffxiii series hv their own conflicts. 10/10 for the storyline
The best ending of any FF game, and thats saying something since 10's ending is a juggernaut
lightning reminds me on mila Jovovich as Alice in resident evil. someone else too?
Lady Yuna yup
Lady Yuna You know what, come to think of it? Lightning kinda looks like that blonde chick from law and order svu.
Lady Yuna Same
Yeah!
I always thought of Hayley Williams, lead singer of Paramore
Has anyone else noticed that at the end when everyone set out for the new world, Lightning and Serah were waiting with open arms and then Snow and Hope floated towards them. Hope to Lightning and Snow to serah. I ship Lightning and Hope. From hope's side it is confirmed that he has romantic feelings for lightning.
Aerith: long ago... our forefathers... fought the great god bhunivelze n brought the lifestream into earth...
Man i had this image whenever i see 13's ending coz its so fit to be legend or fable of the ancients...
when did she say that?
@@shickieran793 no she didnt...apologies if u misunderstood...my bad on this.. i meant it as a fantasy or a hope that 13 could be a prequel to ff7 coz the ending seemed so fitting in that sense... chaos(13) became lifestream(7)... now that u remind me... calius ballard seemed to have some similarity to Sephiroth(looks and figure wise)... i really hope all final fantasys are connected in some way( storywise, not like dissidia)...anyway just a hope of mine...🤣
UNITE WE STAND DEVIDE WE FALL
I WILL LOVE FINAL FANTASY FOREVER........THE
MOST PRECIOUS THING I EVER GOT IN MY LIFE
Everything in this whole video is so good.
Caius the true hero, the only one who doesn't get a happy ending... Being alone with a billion Yeul clones does not count!!!!!
Technically, thats all he wanted. Sad but true.
He released Yuel though right? So he will be alone in the chaos
I was honestly expecting that the final boss's first form would have been Hope.
Colors weave into a spire of flames~
Darn that smash theme fits here too good.
15:30 ...started crying so hard. These characters...
Agreed, i cried at how horrible they are
I just watched this again. Real master is caius. Though for the wrong reasons, he was right and his actions weren't all bad. The gods were the worst. I realized in ff even the good gods aren't good. This is still one of my fave games
Lightning: Somehow learned to use Last Resort (Holy)
Also Lightning: Stabbing a god with your birthday presents will kill it
The weak point of bulliverza was human energy, human feeling, what lighning had to do, was just being human with feelings and not giving up
Better ask yourself who is Bhunivelze, and all the meaning behind the survival knife.
I hope things go this way in this reality, everyone ascending to a new 5th dimensional earth. love to all
A truly great end to a trilogy
When we die go to God dimension our real home
New Age Bullshit 👎🏻.
I love hope soo much I'm glad he is still young at the end 😂
Same here haha i was surprised actually cause he grew up then get back to be a lovely kid
You know, clearly a lot of love was put into this trilogy, the animation, the effects, even some of the voice acting was superb. It's just a shame a bad script ruined a lot of it
this final fantasy has prolly the most emotional ending of all of them
Why do I feel like they just turned into the life stream and became the world of ff7?
Its funny you say that cause when they show that Magitech Armor in 13 and said it came from Pulse I always assumed Pulse was the world in FF6 and Cocoon was made because of what Kefka did to the world half way through! So it would be kinda neat if they were the lifestream and 13 basically connects 6 and 7 :D
And yet there are more theories that Vll and XV and more connected haha
No thats not the life stream, that just all human souls going to a new world and if you ws watching. You see it went by planets within are own solar system. They ended up here on EARTH. Meaning Lightning is alive on earth somewhere right now.
Also FF10 is the game that actually have connections with ff7.
Who knew our heroes would end up on Earth?!
Now they'll have they're own paths to choose, and free to become whoever they want to be.
Elise Gutierrez hope sazh wasn't sent to the US :v
Jamie Williams At least they'll be free
How dare U?! Those guys would DEFINITELY fit in ANYWHERE on Earth!
Elise Gutierrez ?
Jamie Williams i thought that last comment u sent was racist
Sarah and Snow never saw their friends from NORA house again. NORA all lived and died without ever seeing them come back.
Yeah, they lived their lives back at New Bodhum 3AF.
All of humanity is reborn. That means that the house of NORA is now reborn.
Yes they are rebborn and in touch with Serah and Snow :) Go read "Reminiscence: Tracer of Memories". It's the novel written for the after game.
Out of all the FF that I've played, the ost/bgm on this one really gives me goosebumps. Gosh, i miss this serirs. Hopefully they will recreate this on PS5 :(
I definitely think Noel is the best character in the whole Trilogy, wish they gave him more protagonism tho. He's backstory is deep af
He should be more playable in future games
What could've changed 13-2 for me is if it was a trio instead than just Serah and Noel. While Mog, could've been that, he's more of a pet. If Snow joined the trio then he could've atleast played a balthier like role than just be the "leading man" off screen and it would've prevented any tension between Serah and Noel and make Noel and Yeul's story more empathetic.
@@user-pi1lb4tf2f yeah, they definitely couldve played it better
@@user-pi1lb4tf2f no medic means ☠️
IT took me this long and realized... so this. is why LightningXHope shippers were coming from.... oh wait, that was since FF13
I cried, I loved this. Please don't pull a ffx ending. Also 13 had its bad moments but this did have great characters. I like the fact it was a creation myth that still had technology
And people say this game sucks. Really...?
was this the way of them connecting final fantasy 13 to 7??
it feels like this explains why the life stream exists and how the crystal Nova series ends
all in one game
Liek dis if u cri evrytim
Noah Perez LOL
And I come back here every year ^_^;
I get chills watching this again
And over here is neon blue lifestream.
Still can't get over FFVII. 😶
The power that we call friendship can beat everything. When she think to them That was so jump style
If is not for the train's scene, you would think FF13 is a pre sequel of FF7 and Cloud is Lightning reborn.
Those lifestream.
Wsinno So Wat?
The Boss villains behind XIII & XIII-2 we were fighting against were just tools of destruction, tools of Bhunievelze. Makes sense to why the story was liner b/c the real villain was kept in the shadows until LR. He knew Lighting was potentially Etro from the beginning. All 3 villains had 1 thing in common tho they all wanted to destroy mankind.
I feel like this is how the FF6 ending would have looked like.
There's a whole other scene left out unless it's a secret ending scene that i happened to unlock
Aww, this was one crazy ride but the ending really is touching and epic. Wish we saw more though after they were reborn into the new world. Anyways, favorite part that seems to give me wet eyes is seeing Serah saying goodbye to Mog at 15:37. Kupo!!
the best part i like in this was the caius-yeul-noel moment. and hope saving lightning was not bad too.
Hope answering Light sadness was full of meaning.
I'm happy for noel
The scene with Caius though. My heart just skips a beat. Not the fate I wanted for him and Lightning's distraught look at it. And the way he sounds when he let's the last of the Yeuls go with Noel. This ending hit right in the feels.
and all that happened before FF VII, they turned in the life stream... and she is cloud!
