Because XIII lacked proper polishing, not giving you much freedom until near late game, the characters were kinda bland, Lightning especially, Sazh actually being an MVP, not to mention it was linear. XIII-2 was a step up in some senses, and a step down in others. You had Noel and Serah, two good characters, in your party. The problem was the monster system, which basically is a copy of X-2's. Lightning Returns is the most polished of them all, but it does lack a proper party, with the occasional Fang in your party and then Odin, the latter being the most consistent, helpful and powerful party member Light can get if he's restored to full health. However, it does compensate with you being a One Man Army, with all your garb and equipment switching, giving more meaning to Lightning's signature attack. Lightning Returns banks a lot on nostalgia from the previous 2, which isn't a bad thing, but I feel like they rethreaded a lot of things, like Lightning being yet another servant of another God that will inevitably die because of her, one way or another, Serah needing rescue, Yuel still being a sour point for Noel and Caius, Snow still trying to do all the heroic stuff he always tries to, only for it to blow in his face, Fang being eternally bound to saving Vanille, and Vanille being the eternal "I need someone to spell stuff out for me, or I will do stuff wrong". And, of course, there is the man they did the dirtiest in this game, Sazh, who is tasked with eternally saving Dahj. It's almost as if 500 years was not enough to make them wise up, exception being Serah & Light because they had zero choice in the matter. The last rant is that the game truly opens up after you've beaten it, meaning the real game starts on NG+ and on Hard. All of this being put out there, I am one of those that absolutely love the trilogy, I love Light, Snow is my favorite character even though he does nothing but screw up, Sazh is a second favorite, with him being the charismatic comic relief, all to hide his own internal anguish. In fact, today, I've beaten LR one more time, my pathing being Wildlands (Get Odin's help to exterminate most of the game's mobs), defeat Caius, start Sazh, go to Dead Dunes, get Fang's help in defeating every single enemy in the Dunes, fight for the Soulsong Ark, Yusnaan, save Snow and get Dahj's fragment, Wildlands and save Sazh. I did try my hand at the superboss, and almost had him. Meteors upon meteors just melted me.

The only gripe i have with the english version is they got a different voice actor for Bhunivelze when in the wiki its said he speaks with Hope's voice. It's clear that it's Yuki Kaji (Hope's seiyuu) voicing Bhunivelze.
I wanted to beat this game but I detest time limits because I want to be able to play the way I want, and I tend to try and do things in this game, or take time on things only to be out of time and days.
I was also having a second thought if i should really play it after knowing the gameplay but i ended up playing it. Well it still depends on person's taste.
1 you can play as much as you want 2 if you want to there is always multiple ways to extend time 3 you can actually finish everything in this game in less than 13 days 4 if you somehow didnt finish things in time you can go through another cycle and and finish things you probablly wouldnt need to unless you are as slow as a snail 5 you can play however you want no one is pulling your hair the game is made that way

Just finshed this Trilogy 2 days ago. Subarashii story, i hope SE will remake this game. There is a lot potential improving story telling. Gameplay in the third one is the best, i hope we can get team member and customize their strategy like gambit in FFXII. And one more thing, they should fire someone translate the Trilogy because translation really bad.
@@MattsPH - On PS3 the Japanese audio was initially offered as a free DLC that you could download and install on your game to get the option to switch audio. I claimed it but didn't download it back then because it's a 4.7GB download and I didn't want to use that much space. (It's especially a pain because on PS3 you need double the file size to install a game.) I finally downloaded it last week. So it can very much be DLC on certain systems.
They never explained the last scene... maybe at the start they wanted versus13 being in the real world but then it became ff15 they abandon the idea, leaving this final sequence of ff13 meaningless

13-1、13-2とある種バットエンドな終わり方を続けた先に待っていたLRFFでいい形でまとめられましたね。13-1がでた時は【一本道】とバカにされた事もあったけど最後までプレーした人からするば些細な事。シナリオやゲームシステムを含めて名作だったんじゃないですかね♪

LRFF13は綺麗な終わり方で最後までやって良かったと思わせてくれました。FF13のリニア （一本道）という批判に対しても続編で試行錯誤して解決していると思います。
ただ、売上を見ると続編になるに従い落ちており、最初のFF13でやめた人が多いので、もったいない結果ですが「FF13」のイメージは無印という人が多いでしょう。
FF10もある意味バッドエンドで続編が作られましたが（本作もそういうイメージで作られたと思います）、無印の評価の度合いから見ると同じとは言えないと思います。
FF15は正直FF13ヴェルサスの頃のイメージの方が魅力的でした。ストーリーの急展開は分作（FF13方式ではなくたぶんFF7リメイク方式）をとりやめたせいでおそらくシナリオが削られたのでしょう。ダウンロードコンテンツは面白かったので、途中で中止になったのはとても残念でした（もし作られていたら、小説版を見るに真の黒幕を倒し全員が救われるグッドエンディングが提示されていたと思います）。
@@centmyria2671 FF13を発売当時で辞めてしまった人に改めてライトニングまで一通りプレーして欲しいですね。三部作それぞれに工夫があり決して低評価の駄作では無かったと理解してもらえると思います。
FF15は前評判で『イケメン王子』が先行してしまったのも問題だったのかも(笑)FF13もですが歴代シリーズとはバトルも魔法の扱い（FF15）が違ったのも評価に響いてしまった可能性はありますね。個人的には13も15もFFシリーズのマンネリ化を防ぐ為の一手だと考えています。だから売り上げが落ちても仕方ないと思うし批判を受けるのもやむ無しだと思っています。
だって、メーカーは舌が肥え過ぎたプレーヤーが納得いく作品を作らなければならない。前作までと比較して代わり映えがなければ直ぐに低評価とコメントを受ける。その苦労を考えれば頑張って作り上げた作品をボロクソには言えないですよ。
ここまでハッピーエンドなFFはみたことない。ノエルとユールが救われて本当によかった😢
13は2までやっていてライトニングリターンズはやっていなかったのですが自分にとって13は4と共に大好きなＦＦでした。そしてこのエンディングを観て過去最高のＦＦだと核心しました。13シリーズもう一度最初から始めてみようと思います😊
