    You might want to put the extra utensils in your canning kitchen. Then you have all the tools handy and are not having to run back and forth between kitchens. Just an idea 💡.

    Last time I was having a sort out and donate day my friend down the street popped over for a cuppa …she asked if we were moving so I told her I was sorting stuff to donate …she asked if she could take nearly all of it to give to her sister who had recently left an abusive relationship with just the clothes on her back . I was absolutely thrilled that someone I knew could really benefit from my extra stuff 🙂

      Donating to women's shelters is such a great idea. Helping women and children rebuild their lives with things they are given for free is so much better than having to spend money at Goodwill to do it.

      Sorry to hear that but also really good you were alble to help someone out this way. I don't have to much anymore, minimalised loads in my kitchen but when i hear someone having to start from scratch due to similar reasons or housefire I always go through my kitchen and find something to give to them. Some things I might have to repurchase later on but I think it is better to give it at the time to someone who literally has nothing. Take some of the imense pressure of their back.

      @lilMissAdoria 2 года назад +11

      Exactly. For this reason I'd keep some of the things she donated. It can be hard to replace things that are sentimental, expensive, or hard to find. Everytime I move I get at least one hoarder comment, but I can't afford, or find everything to replace it. And when people come into my home they don't see it, it looks like a normal home. 🤷🏻‍♀️

      That's what I'm saying too....I don't like clutter just as much as the next person but my motto is: What you have is all you'll ever have! There is an economic collapse coming soon and what if we don't have electricity for a time? That manual pasta maker would come in handy. And those bottles she's getting rid of, you'll be lucky if you can get them the next time for 99 cents each. They'll be more like $2-3 a piece!!! 😃

      These are the same thoughts My Husband and I have! If you think you will possibly use something keep it! It is going to get harder and more expensive to replace things. I don’t like clutter either. I pray to be wise in what I buying in the first place. My Husband and I have been Married for 26 years and have 4 children. So, we have a lot of stuff. Yet, even we might possibly be moving across country, I don’t see us getting rid of most of Our Kitchen things or Tools. As I a Believer in Jesus, I pray to make Wise Decisions, when buying things I don’t need or will use. Also when getting rid of stuff. The Lord has also helped me to see, out of Respect for Husband working hard. I need not to spend money unwisely…for a lot of just wants!

    Becky, when I was pregnant and when we were moving (as well) I got rid of so much and honestly regretted most of it. Big cooking days etc you will need those extra spoons etc. I found that the excitement of the new house and moving just got the better of me and there are some things I had to repurchase and some of them not as good quality as the ones I've given away. The nesting thing when pregnant is also real so just be sure before you give away. Rather keep your donation box and then only give away when you know that you arent using it for sure.

    • @peacockexplosion7191
      @peacockexplosion7191 2 года назад +3

      I was thinking this as well. Some of that would be great for the second kitchen. Also, some items that aren't sharp or glass would be perfect to place at a play kitchen for when the little one hits toddler yrs. They love to mimic Mama so it's helpful to give them safe play items to feel as if they're participating in the task while you're getting chores done. My daughter had the play dishes for her kitchen center but her favorites were the spare "big girl" items I gave her to use.

Now that you are starting a family you will have a lot more event's so it may be a good idea to keep what you can otherwise you may have to spend money to replace the items. 8:25 when you donate something like the pasta maker, with several parts, either bind them together with tape or put all the parts in a bag or box. Hopefully, that way they will be sold as a unit. The people who price merchandise at the thrift stores may not recognize that the pasta maker has several components/parts.
    20:43 Its odd you weren't concerned about breaking up the measuring cup sets, but the utensil set is giving you anxiety. With the amount of canning you do, I think it's well worth owning two ladles. I only use my carving fork on Thanksgiving and Christmas but it's well worth keeping for those occasions.

If you find in the future that you REALLY needed something you got rid of, well, it's an oppourtunity to buy something new! Now, someone who really needs them will have the oppourtunity to get them. One thing I do when giving things to donation is I contact the local shelters (particularly women's shelters in my case) and ask if they need anything. If they do, they get first dibs. If not, it goes to a charitable association.
