Friends! It was a friendly spider that crawled behind my ferments. I noticed it and after I was done filming I put him outside. I don't mind spiders but I do prefer them outside my house to eat all the nasty bugs :)
Thank goodness you commented this😂 I saw the other comments and was freaked out on your behalf! Now I don’t have to virtually worry😅 Not that I had to anyway but ya know… irrational fears and whatnot.
I felt that smash. I've seen a family on RUclips who made their long term storage last a year and yeah every meal wasn't perfect but her husband was out of work and she has 6 young children..... I can only imagine her relief at her cans of food and bulk items to feed them kids decent food.
The way you work your baby is going to be born on the kitchen floor with you with one hand on a canning pot and on on the other a spatula. You're amazing 🙏😃🌻🇬🇧

Hi Becky, I had worked for Frito-Lay Agricultural Research Station in Northern Wisconsin. I have years of knowledge of potatoes. You'll want to put some slats under the potato crates for ventilation. They should also be stored in a dark area with no light, and temperatures in the low 40's. If you can achieve all that, your potatoes will last till May.
@@MFV77, as long as you do not wash them they will store for a very long time. It depends on the variety to. Some store better and longer than other. Having the ideal conditions extends storage. I use to be able to have potatoes stored in my basement until August the next year. It use to bother me when I had to purchase potatoes that I would usually get for free from other local farms. Any questions, feel free to ask.
A little tip… The strip of metal on your shelves below your cans, paint that little strip with chalkboard paint, and get the erasable chalk board markers. You can write what’s on each shelf that you can see, and Josh can see it without having to touch all the jars it just makes organization easier. You can also wipe it off and put something else there when you’re done. Great job on the basement!
Plus.... earthquakes are not rare in her area.... anything to prevent those jars from jolting and jumping off the shelf....(on the front and back, as she left walking room behind)
Something you may want to consider regarding your shelves where you have the back part you go walk into to push stock forward, I noticed that you have nothing on the backside to stop jars from toppling over when you push from the front. By adding a small wooden dowel across the back will help from having your jars slip off the back when you are adding and pushing from the front. Protect all that hard work!
Also something for the front. I live in CA where one little earthquake would shake those cans right off the shelves. So maybe a small wooden dowel for the front and back.
Tip: you can use one of the baby-proofing latches to help ensure the upright freezer gets closed solidly. One you get into the habit of latching it every time you close it, it'll keep you from leaving it open. They also make temperature alarms that will alert your phone if the temp falls below acceptable levels.
Yes! I have cats and they love sitting on top and we have a older fridge that they easily kept pushing open the freezer just by sitting there or jumping up 😂so we got the kind where u squeeze it and it definitely becomes a good habit
yep did that Works Great🎉🎉🎉I only have an upright and freezer above refrigerator so My hubby is over the road truck driver- and I make up meals that fit into foil bread pans , freeze in the pan lined with a store bought bread bag . That way he can have a meal from Home in his Lunchbox size cooker Nice and Hot …cut the cost of truck stop food.
PLEASE have hubby put a small strip of wood on back of shelves for you so when you push jars back they will stop. You will still be able to work behind. He can even get strips like the shelves are made of. You are wonderful! But when you get excited you make me nervous, but very happy! Keep being you ♡♡♡
You might want to get some of those square foam/rubber floor mats that snap together like puzzle pieces. They are really easy to customize to your space. If you drop something, it will be less likely to break. Also, it is nice on your feet. I love using them on my basement concrete floor.
I think it would be super fun to have a recap of blunders at the end of the year! Those real time moments just add to the charm of your channel! You rock on soon to be Mamma! 😎
I thought that she was going to go out and start preparing a nursery room for the baby, crib, changing table, dresser, clothing and wipes, etc. Sure fooled me 😂🤣😆!!!
@@Butter-Cream127_3 She's doing BETTER than buying a bunch of crap for the baby that we now called "nesting". She is prepping wholesome food so she can focus on time with the baby and having easy to prepare meals so she can also relax when she can , so yes, she IS "Nesting."💗👍
@@Butter-Cream127_3 you seem so negative. She is PREPPING to make things extra easy for herself and her husband when the baby is born and for a few months afterward. Why are you stuck on your own narrow concept of "nesting?" Dont be jealous lol. Just be happy for Becky !
A dumb waiter wouldn't be a bad idea for you. I think many of us worry about you lugging things up those steps. You're amazing, and your energy level is astounding!
Yes, please be careful going up and down those stairs. Baby onboard! LOL! But really, my grandmother had Alzheimer's Disease and she opened the basement door thinking she was going into her bedroom and she tumbled down the basement stairs and broke her arm. It can happen at any age. They actually rebuilt the stairs and added a couple of turns so that if someone fell, they only fell 5-6 steps and not all the way down. That saved my uncle when, many years later, he did the same thing and fell on the same stairs. My sister has a set of basement stairs that are steep. There isn't room for rebuilding the stairs by winding them. But she never carries anything up and down those stairs. If she has to take something to the basement, she goes around to the outside door. She always keeps her hand on the rail as she goes up or down and never carries anything on that staircase. They put a lock on the door too so someone can't accidentally open it and fall. She has a pull wagon and if she needs to store something in the basement, she uses the wagon and walks to the outside door of the basement.
I was telling her she needs to have an inch or inch and a half "lip" on the back of the higher shelves on the racks. Then the jar would "bump" and let her know to stop pushing while she could still put the food up and over them.
I know!! She's talking and pushing more jars, not really paying too much attention to them. I was waiting for them to fall off the back side or her hand catching one of the front ones right there on the edge!! I don't think I would trust the hot pepper sauce that dropped and was put back on the shelf. I would be afraid of glass shards in the jar...
Hi Becky, chiming in with many others to say, invest in securing your shelves! After dropping a jar of pickles accidentally with a similar set up to yours, I invested in rubber floor mats and secured metal straps to the front and back of the shelves to keep the jars from sliding off. You are such an inspiration, thank you for sharing your journey with us!
I am a 70 year old Aussie lady (I live just north of Sydney) and we are coming into Spring and it is a beautiful time of year. My husband has always been the gardener but recently he is unable to garden with surgery coming up on a knee issue and so cannot dig the garden. I have a heart condition and have to pace myself but I have been given free reign of the vegetable garden (not large) and it was suggested to me to try a "no till garden" which I noticed in your potato haul and I am very interested. I have the assistance of my 13 year old grandson who loves to garden and he has cleared the garden for me and is helping me plant. We had a lovely day picking out seedlings and now to plant. Tomatillos are not available here in Australia to my knowledge and I came across some seeds from the "Lost Seed Company" in Tasmania and put them in two years ago and my niece by marriage is thrilled and I have so much pleasure in seeing the eyes light up when I give them to her. My sister in law is from Mexico City and her son met my new neice when visiting family and they have set up home in our city. She is a brilliant cook and I am excited by her cooking the tomatillos. This year I hope to have a better crop for her to enjoy. Love to you and your gorgeous family. XXXXXXXX
I am from Melbourne and i had never heard of tomatillos until watching Becky. Good luck with the no til garden and what a great way to spend time with your grandson x
God bless you for persevering with all you will be going thru taking care of your husband& gardening. Great the grandkids are helping. Good luck on those tomatillas- let us know how you are doing in near future thru Becky's u-tube- comments please. God bless you from grandma Katie in Oregon,USA
So your the one who stole my sun 😘, I’m in northern Minnesota and boy the daylight is getting shorter and shorter !!! We are heading into winter, ugh, I just dread the bitter cold with -30/-40 F temps and several feet of snow ❄️ You will love the no till !!! If you plant potatoes, try the “Ruth Stout method”, you can look it up but just cover your seed potatoes with straw and water, so easy to harvest with no digging !!! I pray God gives you an abundant harvest and good health for you and your husband !! Blessings
I love how you are so real. Not editing the jars breaking! You're reaction to these things and the patience you show is a sure sign that you will be an excellent mama!!💜
Suggestion for your potato/onion curing stations: check a restaurant supply store for the plastic trays that go through commercial dish washers. They will allow air flow and they are stackable!
@@virtuousdesignsbyyessi1717 they are used for silverware and pots and pans. They will be flat on the inside (no dividers). They will remind you of milk crates, about 24"x24" and about 4" high.
When you were pushing those jars back on the shelf I kept thinking ‘they’re gonna fall, they’re gonna fall’ 🫣and then the jars in front of you fell and my heart just started racing 😰
I'm sure he does - he is a great, hard-working, young man...they are a great couple. Send many good wishes from Ontario, Canada for the upcoming addition to your family...You will be wonderful parents..lucky baby...
Becky…I’m not sure if this is a concern in your area but…. Where I live when it starts to get cold, mice come inside looking for warmth. A mouse can squeeze through a 1/4” opening (about the size of a pencil). They will eat any packaged goods that they can get to. You may want to think about storing your pastas in that yellow lidded bin. They can even eat through a bucket given enough time. Keep check on all your plastic containers for any evidence that they have tried to eat through. Maybe even traps under your shelves. If you don’t have to worry about field mice, please forgive my ignorance.
I also worry about rodents getting in where they're not welcome. But what worries me even more is what comes after the rodents. . . . . snakes. It happened so often on our homestead. Especially with doors that open immediately to the outside.
@@mrsrichter8586 Haha unless you live somewhere where there are venomous snakes, rodents are much more of a potential problem. I understand snakes are freaky to some people similar to how spiders are, but most snakes in the US are completely harmless and want nothing to do with humans. Although a cat would probably handle either easily.
I am in Australia and the snakes that follow the rodents are some of the deadliest in the world and I definitely don’t want them in my pantry so was having the same thought, glad to hear most of USA snakes are harmless. I was also worrying about pushing the jars back I kept waiting for them to fall off the back would hate to see all Becky’s hard work go to waste. Love this channel and eagerly await every new video ❤❤
@@maureentalbot9635 I'm in the Southern US - there is a bayou directly behind our house. We get Water Moccasins, Rattlesnakes and Copperheads. We are usually thrilled to see a King Snake or even a rat snake. So i don't think all parts of the US have mostly harmless snakes 😳We have to take a very strong spotlight with us if we step outside at night to avoid venomous bites.
You consistantly explaining your personal motivation tactics, like micro goals on an overwhelming project, is one of the things that helps me in my daily life, aside from the obvious recipies 😉
Beautiful extended pantry! I strongly recommend that you put your boxes and bags of pasta and noodles into a Rubbermaid tub or buckets with lids before the mice find them this winter. Thank you for sharing your space with us!
I love how well organized you have your shelves but maybe if you put a string or some thong solid across your shelves from falling if there was ever an earthquake or some kind of disaster. That will save alot of your work from being destroyed . I also get very motivated when you post your videos on food persevering and food storage supplies. Kudos to you and your hubs for getting it done . ✔️
Do you have a large generator? I can’t remember if you have mentioned that before or not. We have several freezers with our homegrown meats and veggies, so a portable generator is a must for us. Looks like it would be for y’all too. I’d hate for you guys to loose all the food in your freezers because of a power outage.
My grandmother had just finished canning tomatoes and beets and fell down the stairs with all the jars- when my grandfather saw it, he thought she was bleeding to death from the broken glass and fall- he fainted at the top of the stairs- fortunately, she was only bruised but lost all of that hard work- it’s a story of canning I tell my daughter, who is a big time canner each year to remind us what “can” happen during canning season😬
Will say this with best of intention Becky, you do remind me of me, you carry on as if you are not pregnant. Take it easy and slow down, I ran around as if nothing was different ended up going into labour at work, 7 weeks early. Your nesting instinct happened with me, at the start of the October, 4 weeks later my daughter was born! Take it easy
My mom has fallen in love with you. Everytime I see a new video she sits next to me to watch it together. Currently pregnant myself, less than 5 weeks left so I'm excited for you guys. Plus all that work, got you waddling.
Strongly recommend not leaving that box of onions on the concrete floor, it will likely attract mould. Raise it a little on a couple of planks of wood, or sheet of wood, or something like that. LOVING your food storage in the basement.
I was more concerned about the onions being stored beneath hygiene and cleaning products. My guess is that these things will be moved to a non-food storing shelf. If the Listerine should spill in the onion box you will have some drunken onions. I love your videos and recipes and enjoy watching you can foods, it has broadened my skills over the basics.
Someone may have already mentioned this but here goes. Have you considered earthquake proofing your canned goods? My wife and I also live in the PNW and it would be a shame for all your hard work to be damaged due to a quake.
Becky, I’m due in early November and so just a little bit ahead of you. I don’t know how in the world you have this much energy and you are physically able to do all of this. I got winded getting the mail today.
You are such a wonderful person and I enjoy your videos take care yourself and hopefully you have enough casseroles stored because once a the baby comes you attention will be his or hers for awhile you are blessed with such a beautiful family from South Houston Texas

Becky I am Amazed at how much you get done, with food Preparation and Preserving! Not Sure how you fit in House Cleaning and Laundry?! It is still somewhat difficult for me to get that much done with food, while Keeping house, homeschooling two teenagers, taking care of the Animals, keeping Veggies picked in the Garden and pulling weeds. Even with some help from my Husband. Don’t understand tossing the lids from Jars. I have reused Jars and Lids! Such a Big Thing about Organic. Some of Our Food comes from the Store. No Stressing or having Fear have not having Organic. The Lord is Powerful and Our Protector. Praying Over Our Food is Huge!
Hi Becky. Not sure how Washington state weather is. We use energy no matter how you look at it. But just though I would share this with you. I do t grow all my own food yet. But when it’s on sale I buy big. I do all my canning outside as it will waste less energy and I keep my home cool in the summer. Once winter hits I move it inside. Just a tip and thought I’d share as I see you try to reduce your carbon foot print. Also I have natural gas piped outside for my grill and burners which make life so much easier than getting. Propane tanks filled. Like your videos and Josh does good work! Keep it up!
Oh man, I read it wrong for a second. Time for a coffee. I agree. Love her storage area, though :) Great reminder. Hopefully, she sees :) With a little one on the way, she could even place those in the bathroom with locks since there isn't much unless she plans to stockpile those a bit more.
I have an inventory list of items in my freezers. Each list is for what is in that freezer. I tape a plastic notebook page sleeve to the front of each freeze in which I place my printed inventory list into. When I remove something, I remove one of those items from my list. This is called a running inventory that is used in restaurants. I can look at each list before I place orders or go shopping. No buying things I don't need or forgetting things I do need.
Becky you are so fun to watch your energy level is to the ceiling, please please be careful lifting as much as you do you sound winded I hope you know we're all just concerned about you, take care sweetie you are awesome! 💕
Becky please, please, please!! Get some plastic stackable bread trays. The allow for airflow and the mainly use vertical spacing. You can store onions potatoes and carrots for months with easy access to what you need.
You might want to put rubber mats in front of your shelving units! It might help prevent breakage if you drop a jar 😊. Thanks for sharing your dogs…..super cute!
Vets have said your doggies can sense, sniff, that your with child. Your fur babies will follow you all around as it’s a natural gift they have to protect you. Letting them rest their head on your tummy they learn more. 🐶❤🐶❤
Hey Becky! Great setup you have in your basement! With the area that we live in you might want to consider putting earthquake straps on your shelving to prevent the jars from sliding off the shelves - it would probably also be a safety measure because you are putting jars on from both sides - it would stop you from sliding them off the back accidentally. ❤
Becky if you label the shelves with the name of the items it helps with organization and finding them faster. Also, put a 2x4 at the back of the shelf. It creates a lip and makes sure none fall off the back.
Oh! My freezer used to pop open ALL THE TIME, but I got one of those like... baby safety freezer lock things, where basically you have to push down on the lock to have it release and open up. Otherwise, it stays super securely tight and closed all the time! Was like $5 on amazon, and works super well. It's also way easier to use than how I described it. Definitely check that out, since you're probably going to end up looking for baby proofing stuff anyway!
I’m going to be a Nudge. I apologize. You need to move the onions out from under the chemicals. Any kind of chemical goes under any sort of food. It would be better to have chemicals in a completely different “zone.” It’s a good excuse to get another shelf. ;) You did an amazing amount of work today! Preserving the food always seems so easy…it’s the organizing where I fail to keep myself accountable. 😳
You are the busiest woman I have ever met. I get tired just watching you. I am getting better organized because of you teaching us what & how you do your place. Thank you for sharing so much with us. God bless you so much, from grandma Katie in Oregon
SERIOUSLY consider this: buy Drylok concrete floor sealer/paint and double coat your basement floors with it. They will be sealed and a pleasure to mop when needed. Additionally, use Drylok for the unfinished cement walls. It will keep moisture out! And give a nice appearance to the room, to boot. You can choose white or other color. You will be so glad you took the time.
Couple things that helped me with my shelving was having step stool, table in the area to work from and to sit the next organization stuff on (keeps off the floor) and something on the backside of your shelves to keep from pushing out the back. Everything looks awesome and I am so excited for you and the progress you have made. Great organization!!
A cousins wife "shops" in her mom's basement on occasion because she can't store the preserves they make together in their small flat. For jams and ferments it's awesome
I am just sitting here thinking about how proud your parents must be of you. You are so energetic and always busy and have so much common sense! Beside of course being to stinkin' cute! God's blessings.......😀🥰
Hi Becky! My in-laws bought us a stand up freezer and my 7 year old left it open before we left for the hospital to have our youngest daughter. It was open for 4 days, and everything was lost. I was devastated! I got on Amazon and bought child safety strap locks. Look them up! I put one on and it was a game changer because now, everyone in the house knows you MUST snap it to ensure it's closed. I have not had issues since and it's been almost two years! I really hope this helps. I absolutely love your channel. You really are an inspiration! 😊
Becky, I just love how you take us along on your mental process of dealing with homemaking (or any kind of) overwhelm. That is so helpful to me as a homeschool beginner homesteader mom of two. Thank you for not shying away from important topics and skills like these!!
Becky my dad was an avid canner. He was also a crafty man. He reused the lids for jarred seasonings, some he drilled a few holes into for sprinkling and others he cut slots into for banks, he would also use them for jarred gifts, ex. soup, cookies, dips, etc... he was one of the thriftiest men I've ever known. Until next time, much love💖
Beckey please look at the footage where you pulled the fermented tray out. Some kind of creepy crawley was behind it. Might want to investigate what it was. Have a great day!😁
You need to start taking it easy. You accomplish more in one day than I do in a week. I love watching your videos. I also enjoy being able to go back and watching them again.
Our chest freezer decided to overheat and made it necessary to purchase a new one. Of course this happened the day before we were going on vacation. I know what reorganizing the freezer is like. Thankful that we didn't lose all the food that had been stored. Found a bag of peaches for making a ten inch peach pie!!! What a blessing to have discovered the problem!!! I'm going to look into a monitor of some sort so we will know temperature changes. This is a blessing for sure!!
I recommend putting a lip/board across the bottom of the back of your storage shelves so when you are pushing back you don't accidentally push off the back.
Throw baby locks on the freezers and get used to closing them now. They’ll help you when you babyproof your house and also ensure they’re locked shut always!
Becky: I am so glad you got an upright freezer. A hint I use if I make freezer meals - I put foil in the bottom of the dish, then the contents and then foil over top and freeze them solid. When totally frozen I take them out of the glass container or casserole dish and put the foil wrapped package back in the freezer. I found that sometimes glass containers can slip out of the freezer and break - then you have lost not only the container but the meal as well. If it is a frozen package there is nothing to break. Plus you can stack the frozen packages more easily and they take up so much less space and you have the use of your containers for other things.
Myrtle - brilliant idea!! Thank you for sharing that. I only have 2 glass containers so this would be very helpful. I feel kinda dumb for not thinking of it. hahaha
Becky, please learn from my mistake! Don't wear flip flops when you are in a hurry and accessing your upright freezer. I did on 9/2-- the door whacked my foot hard, completely removing my large toe nail. My podiatrist said it will be a full year for the nail to regrow completely. Love the idea of using those wooden craft crates for the potato storage. I completely agree with you about the onion amounts...it is so easy to go through that much! Your wonderful home canning will also eventually make lovely baby food. Maybe you could get some inexpensive foam floor mats from Harbor Freight to put in front of your canning shelves for cushioning.
Hi, Becky! Food for thought: I separate my hog and my beef into 2 different chest freezers. Here’s why: if one of my freezers dies, I will still have some meat safe in the other freezer. I haven’t had this happen, but I don’t get in my chest freezers daily, so I wouldn’t know if one went out for potentially half a week or a week.
Just an ergonomic suggestion for your upright freezer... Not a huge deal, for sure, but most newer freezers/fridges have reversible doors. For convenience sake, you might want to swap the direction of your new freezer's door swing. Since you seem to approach the freezer from the right, being able to open and access it from that side will be so much easier in the long run. I really love following your channel and have recommended it to so many people! I get so much inspiration from you, Becky! Thanks so much for being you! ♥
I was flinching the whole time she was putting jars on the shelf because she wasn't fully paying attention. I was scared she was going to push jars off the back because she just kept pushing them back without looking to see how far back they were. She had boxes leaning so I knew something was going to drop. Glad it wasn't a lot. Becky I think it may be best to do a voice over when you're organizing your shelf. That way you can focus on what you're doing because you had me jumping the whole time. 😁
I kept waiting for a jar to drop off the back of one of those shelves as Becky stacked them and kept pushing them back. Totally didn't expect her to accidentally drop jars in front of her. ETA: Becky, I forgot to mention that if you get a child safety lock for the new upright freezer, you won't have an issue about accidentally leaving the door open. You'll need the child safety stuff in the next year or so anyway. Putting one on the freezer earlier might give you some peace of mind about whether the upright freezer is secure or not.
You need a kitchen trolley! They are so handy in an industrial kitchen and at some point while you were grabbing boxes of cans I was like "she needs a trolley" then you ended up breaking 2 jars and I'm like aaahhh!!! She really needs a trolley!!
This was so satisfying!!!! I told myself, let’s do this with her. I finally put away all my Azure from yesterday and the month before. lol thank you for helping me get motivated. I’m so proud of us both. Thanks friend.

I had half my kitchen pantry shear off the wall a few years ago. Lost a lot of my canned food. So heartbreaking. I understand jar loss. Also, because of that, it makes me super nervous that your selves are not up against a wall in the back. I understand your reason, but that's a lot of hard work that you don't want sliding off the back accidentally.
They aren't braced against each other, have no lips on the edge and aren't much heavier on the bottom than the top either, let alone labeled for rated weight capacity. I would love to see these points addressed eventually but see the current projects take precedent.
She needs to put Josh's brain to work on making those shelves more safe. Even just linking them together with bungee cords to make stable and keep jars on shelf.
Be kind to yourself. Your going through so many changes. Don't forget to take care of yourself. Be reasonable, realistic, and loving when deciding what you " NEED" to get done.
Hi Bex. A tip: A roll of about 1 metre wide rubber matting used in commercial kitchens that has sort of honeycomb shaped "holes" and is about 2.5 centimetres high will absorb any "shock" when jars are dropped or knocked off (think of little nosy fingers lol) Because food messes are hard to clean off concrete and glass shards travel extra-ordinarily far! (I still find them) Looking beautifully abundant down stairs Well done.
You should get a portable table downstairs to put cans or other products on; that way it should hopefully reduce the balance issue. I'm also really glad you got a stand-up freezer for freezer meals and prepped foods. A couple of steps down to the garage is so much better than all of those steps down to the basement.
You're doing a great job! My son came three weeks early and I was also still working full time. I've always been a very organized person so my house/kitchen etc was in relatively good shape but I had not packed a bag yet....pack your hospital bag early (if you're planning to birth at a hospital) lol.
I had those type shelves too. I made magnetic labels for everything I canned. They'll stick in front on that strip. And easily moveable. I had a small notecard box where I kept the unused labels. I laminated the labels too!
I'm so proud of you for doing what my mama taught us to do a long time ago I'm 63 my mom's 87 and I wondered how long it would be before that box tipped I'm sorry for that but I was worried you pushing those jars back that your jars are going to go off the back of the shelf even though we know we've already set it up a certain way it wouldn't hurt to have some bumpers back there
Suggestion to help the pups adjust to baby. Get an old babydoll and swaddle it in a blanket or even a towel. Put the "baby" around the house, the couch, chair etc. You and Josh talk and mimi a real baby. That way they are somewhat accustomed when it's time. You will feel like a nut but it really helps! Great video as always!

That is excellent advice. I also noticed they are exposed to light with the current storage. We don’t want them turning green.
Are they not slat styled underneath? I bought all wood bins and after some time a potato started reeking and I had to use my potatoes same day

You can write what’s on each shelf that you can see, and Josh can see it without having to touch all the jars it just makes organization easier. You can also wipe it off and put something else there when you’re done. Great job on the basement!
I love this idea! I may have to use this, thanks for sharing! -Cara
Brilliant idea!! Thanks for sharing!! God bless!!❤
Plus.... earthquakes are not rare in her area.... anything to prevent those jars from jolting and jumping off the shelf....(on the front and back, as she left walking room behind)
@@robynmize4713 Oh yeah that’s definitely another reason for a shelf guardrail 😬
Cut strips of white board to attach to your shelving for labelling it will save you time
One thing to consider: label the ends of your frozen meals. When they are stacked, you will still know what you have without having to move several.
I thought same thing or the weather stripping would be ez
I was a nervous wreck when the jars were being pushed back! 🤣
Great ideal !
I was so scared Becky might push one off by accident too. A thin rod or even a bar along the back edge would be perfect
You will need this when the baby comes anyway
Yes! I have cats and they love sitting on top and we have a older fridge that they easily kept pushing open the freezer just by sitting there or jumping up 😂so we got the kind where u squeeze it and it definitely becomes a good habit
yep did that Works Great🎉🎉🎉I only have an upright
and freezer above refrigerator
so My hubby is over the road truck driver- and I make up meals that fit into foil bread pans , freeze in the pan lined with a store bought bread bag . That way he can have a meal from Home in his Lunchbox size cooker Nice and Hot …cut the cost of truck stop food.
Yes, I did this well - we have an older upright and it has helped us.
Wow brillz!
PLEASE have hubby put a small strip of wood on back of shelves for you so when you push jars back they will stop. You will still be able to work behind. He can even get strips like the shelves are made of. You are wonderful! But when you get excited you make me nervous, but very happy! Keep being you ♡♡♡
Sound advice. Although i’m sure she can do it herself or ask anybody else to do it.
Amen!
yes I was going to suggests placed a strip of wood to hold the jars from falling off
I was hoping there was a lip on those shelves to keep things from going overboard in the back. What a mess that would be!
Every time you pushed the jars back I was holding my breath for the crash. Definitely need some sort of lip or ridge on the back
You might want to get some of those square foam/rubber floor mats that snap together like puzzle pieces.

This title cracked me up because every day Becky is a normal person nesting. So Becky in Nest mode must be 🤩 😂 ❤

Sure fooled me 😂🤣😆!!!
Becky, is not nesting it’s to soon.

I was so scared every time you pushed the jars backwards on the shelves. 😬 😊. Would love to have a setup like this.
Me too was just waiting for a big SMASH!!!!!
Omg me too
I would also love to have a setup like this as well. Smart and efficient girl.
Upright Freezers come with keys to lock. We hung our key on a string and tied it to the handle. Easy Peasy to use!

I pray God gives you an abundant harvest and good health for you and your husband !!

I love how you are so real. Not editing the jars breaking! You're reaction to these things and the patience you show is a sure sign that you will be an excellent mama!!💜

This is great advice for sure
I bought a bunch of gallon and 1/2 gal jars for pasta storage with oxygen obsorbers.. 😋
It looks so pretty also 😍
I also worry about rodents getting in where they're not welcome.
@@maureentalbot9635 I'm in the Southern US - there is a bayou directly behind our house. We get Water Moccasins, Rattlesnakes and Copperheads. You consistantly explaining your personal motivation tactics, like micro goals on an overwhelming project, is one of the things that helps me in my daily life, aside from the obvious recipies 😉
Totally agree. Inside thoughts on the outside shows me a usable pattern that I can then, make my own way.

I love seeing Becky walk now. I cant wait to meet the baby. She is gonna be such an amazing mother.
I was totally thinking the same thing just a few videos ago. So cute!
Oh my goodness! That is horrible! Glad she was okay. But what a loss😢
Since you have a sliding door in the basement, maybe you can load a wagon and wheel those heavy jars downstairs.
You are a force of nature. Go easy on yourself, just do what you can and tomorrow is another day 😊
Will say this with best of intention Becky, you do remind me of me, you carry on as if you are not pregnant. Strongly recommend not leaving that box of onions on the concrete floor, it will likely attract mould. Raise it a little on a couple of planks of wood, or sheet of wood, or something like that. LOVING your food storage in the basement.
We get pallets, lge and smaller to keep thins off the concrete
Azure Standard delivery truck gives away free pallets in my area of the country.

Love your videos. FOOD SAFETY TIP: You shouldn't store food under chemicals, meaning your onions under cleaning supplies.

Oh man, I read it wrong for a second. Time for a coffee. I agree. Love her storage area, though :) Great reminder. Hopefully, she sees :) With a little one on the way, she could even place those in the bathroom with locks since there isn't much unless she plans to stockpile those a bit more.
Thanks for pointing this out friends! I had to make some adjustments in my basement 🙂

Becky please, please, please!! Get some plastic stackable bread trays. The allow for airflow and the mainly use vertical spacing. You can store onions potatoes and carrots for months with easy access to what you need.
Don’t keep that jar you dropped in your storage. Open it and use it or put it in the fridge. It might have micro cracks and could lose its seal.
I was gonna say the same. It will probably lose seal and/or have micro cracks. Better to use now.
Yeah I thought the same thing. At least she can go back and see exactly which jar it is. 😁
You might want to put rubber mats in front of your shelving units! It might help prevent breakage if you drop a jar 😊.

Hey Becky! You are on fire! I just got done some chores. Now coffee and Becky's new video! Cheers to you and everyone watching.
Perfect! 😊🧡😊🎈
I’m going to be a Nudge. I apologize. You need to move the onions out from under the chemicals. Any kind of chemical goes under any sort of food. It would be better to have chemicals in a completely different “zone.” It’s a good excuse to get another shelf. ;)
You did an amazing amount of work today! Preserving the food always seems so easy…it’s the organizing where I fail to keep myself accountable. 😳

Becky my dad was an avid canner. He was also a crafty man.
Also anchor that upright freezer!
This is fake right. Not her?
@@mariannebentsen8865 Yes. Spammer. So annoying!!
Myrtle - brilliant idea!! Thank you for sharing that. I only have 2 glass containers so this would be very helpful. I feel kinda dumb for not thinking of it. hahaha
I do the same thing you suggested!
Maybe put a rug in front of the shelving might help with the accidental dropped jars. I really like your new home.
Add cushy kitchen mats in front (&behind) of your shelves. That will be easier on your legs/feet and perhaps the jars won’t break when one falls.
Orbit and tibro being in the basement just hanging out with u was so cute 🥰 ❤
Yep, they are never far from Mom!
Don’t forget to buy a freezer alarm for your new freezer :)
WOW! Girl, you get so much done! Bravo! You rock!❤❤❤
I love how kind you are to yourself. I would have beat myself up for breaking those jars.
I LOVE that you have the prepped Food freezer upstairs. That’s going to be SO nice as you get bigger and once the baby is born. 💜
I can't believe she's 8 months already! This pregnancy is flying by and she doesn't look she's even growing lol.

Me too, was thinking maybe Josh could help install a lip on front and back of the shelves to help prevent accidents. Had my heart rate up 😳🤭
I kept waiting for a jar to drop off the back of one of those shelves as Becky stacked them and kept pushing them back.
Upright freezers are the best. I love mine and easier access than a chest freezer. Love your videos. I keep learning so much.
I love how organized you are. That’s me for sure. ❤
She's the best for giving motivation!! 👍Good job getting your azure haul put away...I still have half mine to do haha
Thank you for taking us along I know it takes a lot more time and thought to include us but you are an inspiration to us. ❤Tonya
Love YOU, Becky!!!
Your content's a bonus! Thank you for sharing, with such tremendous generosity and kindness, your time, energy, and virtual friendship. And look how we're all becoming friends too! May God bless you always!

❤Love the way you organized your jars of food. Thank you so much.
Seconding the table (or cart) idea.
Table would make sense. I third that.
You're doing a great job! My son came three weeks early and I was also still working full time. I've always been a very organized person so my house/kitchen etc was in relatively good shape but I had not packed a bag yet....pack your hospital bag early (if you're planning to birth at a hospital) lol.
Sorry about those two jars...could have been worse. Clean up the mess and moving right along. Good for you Becky! Love your style.
I had those type shelves too. I made magnetic labels for everything I canned. They'll stick in front on that strip. And easily moveable. I had a small notecard box where I kept the unused labels. I laminated the labels too!
I'm so proud of you for doing what my mama taught us to do a long time ago I'm 63 my mom's 87 and I wondered how long it would be before that box tipped I'm sorry for that but I was worried you pushing those jars back that your jars are going to go off the back of the shelf even though we know we've already set it up a certain way it wouldn't hurt to have some bumpers back there
How awesome to be able to go grocery shopping in your basement. I freakin LOVE it. Bend says "hi"
I canned for the 1st time yesterday. I did 3 pints of the sloppy joe mix, 2 pints of apple sauce, 1 pint of cinnamon apple sauce, 2 -pints , 3- 1/2 pints and 3- 1/4 pints of strawberry jam and i started 2 quarts of apple cider vinegar. 😁😁😁
You are such an inspiration! I can't believe you work so hard being pregnant! Wow I am just amazed by you! Thank you for letting us enjoy your life!
