I had reached out to companies in the past about helping me only to have them tell me that they were just going to trash everything in my home and it immediately triggered panic, anger, and anxiety within me. Thank you so much for helping this woman. She's JUST like me. I have all those same disorders, except I also have m.s. I, too, inherited my mothers house exactly the same way. I lived with it for 2 years until my sister in laws saw me personally decline in health and begged me to tell them what was going on. I finally told them, and they all 3 took off work for 4 days to make the place immaculate. It was life changing and life-saving. You're a true hero.

I cleaned my basement this summer after neglecting it for years. I threw out 61 boxes, and emptied 5 plastic tubs, not to mention massive amounts of garbage bags. It's actually halfway livable in there now.

If there's anyone out there wanting to start helping folk like this, I'm a Doctor of Physical Therapy in Southeast Minnesota and I have someone in desperate need of organization help who is wheelchair bound and blind and gave me permission to reach out. I've been a member here for several months and love this community, and it breaks my heart to see how desperate the circumstances are for my patient who cannot find her belongings. The place isn't even that bad, it's more that there's no designated place for each item and it leads to her being unable to find things because she's blind. I'm hoping that if anyone can help her with the initial clean and organization, I can follow up with my coworkers to make sure things stay that way.

That and for some autistic folks, the dog senses this and treats us accordingly. I take care of two myself, when it's time, they come my way to visit. I do best in my own home with my stuff. It's not so bad now that I have a modernish laptop with WiFi, but still, better here at home where the dog can relax around me. One is a little miniature Australian Shepard that I've known since he was a pup and we just glommed onto each other early on, so whenever I'm at their house, he seeks me out, always. The other is a black Lab and she adores me and checks in on me periodically (both do) and I love it.
You know, it's absolutely FINE for you to be who you really are. It helps to explain to people ahead of time so you can manage their expectations, but I'm so glad you've taken the time to learn who you are and how to cope so that you can function at your best. And to be able to bless others even in your own storm is an incredible gift. Don't ever try to minimize that!!!

Mack, in addition to all of your other talents, you are an incredibly gifted communicator. My 3 children have ADHD and panic attacks. One daughter was recently diagnosed (at 31) with autism. Your thoughtful explanations have helped me understand why they had such a hard time organizing or cleaning - and your description of your feelings and actions at the end of the video are EXACTLY how my daughter acts when experiencing overwhelm and panic. I regret not knowing the signs when they were younger, but I am grateful that awareness is being raised on these disorders. This knowledge explains why my ex-husband had such a difficult time coping with life no matter what therapies were used. Not once did anyone suspect that he was autistic, had PTSD or ADHD because he had a genius IQ. It breaks my heart that he has suffered for 76 years. Thank you so much and God bless you!

I’m an ADHD-C momma. I noticed this in my daughter. I’d say clean your room & she’d hyperfocus on one tiny thing instead of working on the obvious big stuff! Nothing is more annoying than someone you love who is Just.Like.Yourself lol

I admit to being in recovery from having NBS or the nice box syndrome. They can be so well made, or clever in design. Some have drawers or are a unique shape. I used to think maybe I can make some out this or use it. Now I just admire it, take a moment to appreciate the enhineering that went into it, then i toss it. I do wish packaging wasn’t so wasteful. I was thinking about how i unbox a delivery to wrap it as a present. We do try reuse the same gift bags every year but maybe there is a better way.

That’s usually our corgi too. She’s shedding her undercoat, so even though I brush her every other day, she’s still floofing everywhere, so I have to keep sweeping up, and she keeps walking through the piles. I can’t vacuum or confine her to a room or put her out and close the dog door because she’s a rescue and was abandoned and starved in a cave and raised without human contact. The vacuum terrifies her, being closed in a room stresses her out so she begins her crazy crate spin, even though she’s not in a crate. And being outside makes her feel cut off and also scares her. So she just floofs her way through her pile of floof, and I just keep sweeping up after her.

This type of cleaning is life altering. Part of the reason I could never hire a cleaner is because I know that they would throw things away I wanted kept and put things in the wrong spot. Many cleaners would not put in the additional hours of time and effort that you did to make sure a dysregulated mind felt comfortable and secure in their new home. This type of cleaning is life altering. You really did something amazing for her.

I inherited my mom’s hoard in 2020. I went through everything myself….Organized into junk, donate, then sell categories. Kept a few special things. Took a couple weeks working 16 hour days getting through it all. Very tough situation to be in, especially alone. I always promise my daughter I won’t leave her in that situation. You do amazing work!
I am going through my mothers 4500 sq ft house now. Having to lay your hand to every item and making a decision about the the item is tiring mentally and physically. I am some what resentful about the situation I am in. When my grandmother died 50 years ago my mother complained about the amount of “ stuff” that was in her very large house. My mother had 3 brothers, their wives and me to help clear out the house which did not have close to the amount of stuff this house does. It is the height of unkindness to do this to your children.

I understand feeling the resentment. I was only 25 at the time, but the chest pains I had were terrible from the stress. Ok, long comment but I wanna share it: My mum and I currently live together because I'm severely disabled and she's just left her partner of 12 years. She's been cackling about me watching cleaning videos because I have such poor executive function that I don't eat if no one tells me to, much less do the dishes. (She on the other hand has ADHD and does everything, so much, all the time. It's great.) We went up to her ex's house yesterday to start packing up her stuff so a moving company can come get it. Once there, we found that he (the partner) had taken ALL OF HER THINGS and put them in the garage. In no particular order. In a jumble that pretty much resembled a hoarder pile. She looked at it and said "I can't do this," and I said, "YES WE CAN. I have watched enough MMC to tell you, we absolutely can. We have lots of time. We're going to the shops, we're getting snacks and bags and boxes, and we'll do one thing at a time." And then I applied every single piece of advice I've picked up from this channel, and we fucking did it. It took us a solid 5 hours, but her things are organised and packed. I can't move a muscle today, but it was so worth it. And we couldn't have done it without you putting this content out on the internet. So, thank you. You make a difference, all over the world. (And when I started this video just now she shouted, "Is that The Cleaning Man?". I've pavloved her to your voice.)
Honest to god, watching you clean houses is like watching a superhero at work :) I’ve struggled with clutter all my life as an neurodivergent person, and there are just so many ways cleaning can be taxing. Like, dishes being a struggle I can completely relate to - I’m grateful to say I don’t have that fear of dishwashers, but if I touch a slightly greasy part of a dish (or worst of all, a soggy clump of food), it’s all over. You truly amaze and inspire me, and your kindness and generosity are just incredible

It feels oppressive, overwhelming, and creates such anxiety. You're doing a wonderful thing here and I know it will ease a lot of the stress in this lovely woman's life.
Companion is a very strong tool in the fight against stupidity. I went through hell in 1985, I was in college taking Abnormal Psych (😅). The prof gave us a stress test the first day. When he interviewed me, he asked if I wanted him to call an ambulance 😅. The important thing is that WE'RE STILL STANDING!

I’m autistic, I so identify with the city driving panic, sleeping (or NOT sleeping) in a strange place, masking overload, weird eating. To also clean while battling those issues, AND doing it after the challenges of the last months I just can’t fathom. But seeing is believing, You are an inspiration, not only motivating me to clean but to maybe even get out of my house (I haven’t slept at my sister’s in years and it would make her so happy). This lady and yourself are absolute legends. True bravery, as you know, is not being without fear, but being terrified and still doing what you need to do anyway. Had to have reconstructive surgery on my left hand,wrist and arm, they almost ripped it off! Still have PTSD from THAT! You are such a a sweetheart for helping this lady! As a person who is neurodivergent (ADHD, autism, anxiety) and being an educator about neurodivergencies, you talking about them normalizes them, and makes other people more free to talk about it. It also allows neurotypicals to understand what it's like to have a particular difference. 3. I don't know if this will help you but sometimes it does help me, I have a small like couch throw blanket I keep in the bed with me (I have it actually tucked under my pillows so I don't have to interact with it). I take that blanket and my pillow when I have to go sleep somewhere strange. It doesn't make it seamless, but it makes it so much easier. For some reason the familiar smell reaches past the anxiety and seems to settle things down a bit. 4. Great video, friend. It's really kind of instructional without being bossy instructional. It tells about how you do it, and other people can swipe your ideas and use them for themselves, but you're not saying this is the way you should do it!
It's a great way to reframe the situation from having to part with something (not having that thing anymore) to making a decision of what one wants more!
When my mother passed, I had absolutely no clue how bad her hoarding had become. So many recycled newspapers, donated and trashed clothing, and just absolutely weird kitchen gadgets for a person that no longer cooked. In a week I cleared two dumpsters of trash. Cleanings like this are not only sanity saving, but life saving. Thank you for powering through and helping everyone you do! 💜

my heart goes out to her. i was mauled by a dog when i was ten years old and the recovery for that (just in terms of time) was months long before i could walk or sit or even lay in a position that wasn't my stomach. i'm glad she has some mobility already and hope she can make a fuller recovery as time goes on. the work the two of you did here is impressive for only five days!

You’re such a good person Jeremy. I’m in the same place as this gal in many ways except I’m disabled. I try to clean and get 5 minutes done, 10 if I’m lucky. I cried all the way through this. Her dog looked so sweet. It reminded me of my dog Autumn. She was my support dog. She recently passed away after providing me with 16 years in unconditional love and companionship.💕🦋Keep making great changes in people’s lives! It all matters.
I'm sorry for the loss of your support dog. Whenever one of mine passes, I tell myself that they knew that soon another animal will need a loving home and they are making room. And sure enough, another one needs me. I have cats, but the principle is the same. My new cat is a memorial to my old one.
I have the same issue with dishwashers! (Diagnosed autistic.) But to me hand washing does a double positive thing - it gets the cups clean, but it also reminds me of happy memories with my grandmomma :3 We used to do the dishes together when i was visiting her. Rural houses in her town are pretty much like cottages. I don’t know of any neighbours even that would have dish washing machines.

Just want to say I love your content. Thank you for the videos. You keep me motivated to keep keeping on with it. I'm working on a two story home, 2 car garage, a good sized garden shed, and a huge steel building, along with the 1/2 acre property it's all on. It's my parents' home. My dad passed away last year, and mom will soon be 82 and has dementia. It's just so much stuff, so all over the place and unorganized! It really can give me the worst anxiety, and feel overwhelming.There's quite a bit of hoarding as well. It's a delicate process to get it done without upsetting my Mom or my siblings (that would like to keep some things from mom n dad eventually). Watching has helped me to accomplish cleaning, organizing and decluttering on a huge scale, so I am ever so grateful to you and for you. Your awareness of different disorders and how they can effect people has also helped me to go about it differently so as not to cause more problems for my family or myself during the process.There are still mountains to move through, but I've gone from having panic attacks and feeling it's insurmountable, to just taking it one thing at a time, and one section at a time, and the slower baby steps are paying off. Whether it's one box a day, an 8 hour day in one space, or just finally being able to get the actual garbage and packaging thrown away,... it's all moving forward, and after 6 months, the progress is really starting to show. I simply cannot thank you enough. Also, you're an angel for stepping in to help her with this situation. You've done a fantastic job.I'm sure she feels that way as well. 💖☺️👍🙏
I loved it when the dog came to help. I tell people one of the best commands to teach your dog is “don’t help”. I use it a lot with my dog. But it really made me smile each time Ginger came over to check on you. ❤❤❤

Wow!! This sounds like my story. My mom passing away not long ago, inheriting a mess and clutter that thieves and vandals ruined, I have all the same mental health issues as her, except for the autism. I also work as a delivery driver and dogs definitely scare me terribly. I recently had a baby and also made a move into my late mothers home. I’ve also lost a lot including much of my family and my husband.. You’re wonderful for helping her out! Hopefully, it marks the beginning of change and happiness 😊
Thank you for making these videos, seeing that its possible to start from (anywhere but in my case) somewhere to make a peaceful place is really mind blowing to me. I grew up in a messy environment and struggle with starting because i get over whelmed with where to focus on and i bounce around too easily.
Where are her peeps? Seems like she could use some support. It makes me sad when people just don't have anyone to rely on during hard times. I truly am so grateful for the people I could call anytime, anywhere, to come help me out if I needed it. We all need someone!
We are 60 with bad health,zero help..4 kids,20 grandkids that mostly are adults.We have nobody we can count on for physical help,and now alot of our trees are dead and ready to fall on neighbors. There is NO HELP.

I have the same diagnosis’s so I can understand from that perspective but I can’t imagine dealing with that stuff, and then on top of it dealing with the loss, inheritance, and dog attack. I, too, inherited my mothers house exactly the same way. I lived with it for 2 years until my sister in laws saw me personally decline in health and begged me to tell them what was going on. I finally told them, and they all 3 took off work for 4 days to make the place immaculate. It was life changing and life-saving.

If there's anyone out there wanting to start helping folk like this, I'm a Doctor of Physical Therapy in Southeast Minnesota and I have someone in desperate need of organization help who is wheelchair bound and blind and gave me permission to reach out. I've been a member here for several months and love this community, and it breaks my heart to see how desperate the circumstances are for my patient who cannot find her belongings. The place isn't even that bad, it's more that there's no designated place for each item and it leads to her being unable to find things because she's blind. I'm hoping that if anyone can help her with the initial clean and organization, I can follow up with my coworkers to make sure things stay that way.

That and for some autistic folks, the dog senses this and treats us accordingly. I take care of two myself, when it's time, they come my way to visit. I do best in my own home with my stuff. It's not so bad now that I have a modernish laptop with WiFi, but still, better here at home where the dog can relax around me.
One is a little miniature Australian Shepard that I've known since he was a pup and we just glommed onto each other early on, so whenever I'm at their house, he seeks me out, always. The other is a black Lab and she adores me and checks in on me periodically (both do) and I love it.

It helps to explain to people ahead of time so you can manage their expectations, but I'm so glad you've taken the time to learn who you are and how to cope so that you can function at your best. The dog looks healthy and well cared for, sometimes in those hoarding situations pets really suffer.
This lady is not the hoarder. She inherited the hoarded house; and then got hurt to the point of immobility so then fell even further behind.

Mack, in addition to all of your other talents, you are an incredibly gifted communicator. My 3 children have ADHD and panic attacks. One daughter was recently diagnosed (at 31) with autism. Your thoughtful explanations have helped me understand why they had such a hard time organizing or cleaning - and your description of your feelings and actions at the end of the video are EXACTLY how my daughter acts when experiencing overwhelm and panic. I regret not knowing the signs when they were younger, but I am grateful that awareness is being raised on these disorders. This knowledge explains why my ex-husband had such a difficult time coping with life no matter what therapies were used. Not once did anyone suspect that he was autistic, had PTSD or ADHD because he had a genius IQ. It breaks my heart that he has suffered for 76 years. Thank you so much and God bless you!

I admit to being in recovery from having NBS or the nice box syndrome. They can be so well made, or clever in design. Some have drawers or are a unique shape. I used to think maybe I can make some out this or use it. Now I just admire it, take a moment to appreciate the enhineering that went into it, then i toss it. I do wish packaging wasn’t so wasteful. I was thinking about how i unbox a delivery to wrap it as a present. We do try reuse the same gift bags every year but maybe there is a better way.

I think she was trying to eat it. XD There was probably some pet food bits in there.
That’s usually our corgi too. She’s shedding her undercoat, so even though I brush her every other day, she’s still floofing everywhere, so I have to keep sweeping up, and she keeps walking through the piles. I can’t vacuum or confine her to a room or put her out and close the dog door because she’s a rescue and was abandoned and starved in a cave and raised without human contact. The vacuum terrifies her, being closed in a room stresses her out so she begins her crazy crate spin, even though she’s not in a crate. And being outside makes her feel cut off and also scares her. So she just floofs her way through her pile of floof, and I just keep sweeping up after her.
God bless you for this unselfish act of kindness. Watching this video warmed my heart. Hopefully we’re all encouraged to go do something nice for someone.

This type of cleaning is life altering. Part of the reason I could never hire a cleaner is because I know that they would throw things away I wanted kept and put things in the wrong spot. Many cleaners would not put in the additional hours of time and effort that you did to make sure a dysregulated mind felt comfortable and secure in their new home. This type of cleaning is life altering. You really did something amazing for her.

I inherited my mom’s hoard in 2020. I went through everything myself….Organized into junk, donate, then sell categories. Kept a few special things. Took a couple weeks working 16 hour days getting through it all. Very tough situation to be in, especially alone. I always promise my daughter I won’t leave her in that situation. You do amazing work!
I am going through my mothers 4500 sq ft house now. Having to lay your hand to every item and making a decision about the the item is tiring mentally and physically. I am some what resentful about the situation I am in. When my grandmother died 50 years ago my mother complained about the amount of “ stuff” that was in her very large house. My mother had 3 brothers, their wives and me to help clear out the house which did not have close to the amount of stuff this house does. It is the height of unkindness to do this to your children.

I understand feeling the resentment. I was only 25 at the time, but the chest pains I had were terrible from the stress. Try to be easy on yourself, but I know that’s so hard especially when it has to get done. Hoping for the best for you and peace when all this is over.

Ok, long comment but I wanna share it:
My mum and I currently live together because I'm severely disabled and she's just left her partner of 12 years. She's been cackling about me watching cleaning videos because I have such poor executive function that I don't eat if no one tells me to, much less do the dishes. (She on the other hand has ADHD and does everything, so much, all the time. It's great.)
We went up to her ex's house yesterday to start packing up her stuff so a moving company can come get it. Once there, we found that he (the partner) had taken ALL OF HER THINGS and put them in the garage. In no particular order. In a jumble that pretty much resembled a hoarder pile. She looked at it and said "I can't do this," and I said, "YES WE CAN. I have watched enough MMC to tell you, we absolutely can. We have lots of time. We're going to the shops, we're getting snacks and bags and boxes, and we'll do one thing at a time."
And then I applied every single piece of advice I've picked up from this channel, and we fucking did it. It took us a solid 5 hours, but her things are organised and packed. I can't move a muscle today, but it was so worth it. And we couldn't have done it without you putting this content out on the internet. So, thank you. You make a difference, all over the world.
(And when I started this video just now she shouted, "Is that The Cleaning Man?". I've pavloved her to your voice.)

Honest to god, watching you clean houses is like watching a superhero at work :) I’ve struggled with clutter all my life as an neurodivergent person, and there are just so many ways cleaning can be taxing. Like, dishes being a struggle I can completely relate to - I’m grateful to say I don’t have that fear of dishwashers, but if I touch a slightly greasy part of a dish (or worst of all, a soggy clump of food), it’s all over. You truly amaze and inspire me, and your kindness and generosity are just incredible

It feels oppressive, overwhelming, and creates such anxiety. You're doing a wonderful thing here and I know it will ease a lot of the stress in this lovely woman's life.
Companion is a very strong tool in the fight against stupidity. I went through hell in 1985, I was in college taking Abnormal Psych (😅). The prof gave us a stress test the first day. When he interviewed me, he asked if I wanted him to call an ambulance 😅. The important thing is that WE'RE STILL STANDING!

2. Thanks for talking about your neurodivergencies and how they affected you. As a person who is neurodivergent (ADHD, autism, anxiety) and being an educator about neurodivergencies, you talking about them normalizes them, and makes other people more free to talk about it. It also allows neurotypicals to understand what it's like to have a particular difference.
3. I don't know if this will help you but sometimes it does help me, I have a small like couch throw blanket I keep in the bed with me (I have it actually tucked under my pillows so I don't have to interact with it). I take that blanket and my pillow when I have to go sleep somewhere strange. It doesn't make it seamless, but it makes it so much easier. For some reason the familiar smell reaches past the anxiety and seems to settle things down a bit.
4. Great video, friend. It's really kind of instructional without being bossy instructional. It tells about how you do it, and other people can swipe your ideas and use them for themselves, but you're not saying this is the way you should do it!
You sir are amazing. Not only do you help others that need you….you put your own discomforts to the side to do it. A true gentleman….

When my mother passed, I had absolutely no clue how bad her hoarding had become. So many recycled newspapers, donated and trashed clothing, and just absolutely weird kitchen gadgets for a person that no longer cooked. In a week I cleared two dumpsters of trash. Cleanings like this are not only sanity saving, but life saving. Thank you for powering through and helping everyone you do! 💜

You’re such a good person Jeremy. I’m in the same place as this gal in many ways except I’m disabled. I try to clean and get 5 minutes done, 10 if I’m lucky. I cried all the way through this. Her dog looked so sweet. It reminded me of my dog Autumn. She was my support dog. She recently passed away after providing me with 16 years in unconditional love and companionship.💕🦋Keep making great changes in people’s lives! It all matters.

Just want to say I love your content. Thank you for the videos. You keep me motivated to keep keeping on with it. I'm working on a two story home, 2 car garage, a good sized garden shed, and a huge steel building, along with the 1/2 acre property it's all on. It's my parents' home. My dad passed away last year, and mom will soon be 82 and has dementia. It's just so much stuff, so all over the place and unorganized! It really can give me the worst anxiety, and feel overwhelming.There's quite a bit of hoarding as well. It's a delicate process to get it done without upsetting my Mom or my siblings (that would like to keep some things from mom n dad eventually). Watching has helped me to accomplish cleaning, organizing and decluttering on a huge scale, so I am ever so grateful to you and for you. Your awareness of different disorders and how they can effect people has also helped me to go about it differently so as not to cause more problems for my family or myself during the process.There are still mountains to move through, but I've gone from having panic attacks and feeling it's insurmountable, to just taking it one thing at a time, and one section at a time, and the slower baby steps are paying off. Whether it's one box a day, an 8 hour day in one space, or just finally being able to get the actual garbage and packaging thrown away,... it's all moving forward, and after 6 months, the progress is really starting to show. I simply cannot thank you enough.
Also, you're an angel for stepping in to help her with this situation. You've done a fantastic job.I'm sure she feels that way as well. 💖☺️👍🙏
I loved it when the dog came to help. I tell people one of the best commands to teach your dog is “don’t help”. I use it a lot with my dog. But it really made me smile each time Ginger came over to check on you. ❤❤❤
She can't hear, so she does what she wants.

Wow!! This sounds like my story. My mom passing away not long ago, inheriting a mess and clutter that thieves and vandals ruined, I have all the same mental health issues as her, except for the autism. I also work as a delivery driver and dogs definitely scare me terribly. I recently had a baby and also made a move into my late mothers home. I’ve also lost a lot including much of my family and my husband..
You’re wonderful for helping her out! Hopefully, it marks the beginning of change and happiness 😊
Thank you for making these videos, seeing that its possible to start from (anywhere but in my case) somewhere to make a peaceful place is really mind blowing to me. I grew up in a messy environment and struggle with starting because i get over whelmed with where to focus on and i bounce around too easily.
Where are her peeps? Seems like she could use some support. It makes me sad when people just don't have anyone to rely on during hard times. I truly am so grateful for the people I could call anytime, anywhere, to come help me out if I needed it. We all need someone!
We are 60 with bad health,zero help..4 kids,20 grandkids that mostly are adults.We have nobody we can count on for physical help,and now alot of our trees are dead and ready to fall on neighbors. There is NO HELP.

You’re truly amazing for this. I have the same diagnosis’s so I can understand from that perspective but I can’t imagine dealing with that stuff, and then on top of it dealing with the loss, inheritance, and dog attack. The disorders on their own are a mountain to climb, I’m surprised and thankful that she’s still going, and that you were able to and willing to help her with this. What a brain lasagna.
