- Out of Africa (1985)
In 20th century colonial Kenya, a Danish baroness/plantation owner has a passionate love affair with a free-sprited big-game hunter (IMDb)
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - Clarinet concerto in A major, K. 622 - Adagio
It was written in 1791 for the clarinetist Anton Stadler. It consists of the usual three movements, in a fast--slow--fast form (Allegro-Adagio-Rondo). It was one of Mozart's final completed works, and his final purely instrumental work (he died in the December following its completion). The concerto is notable for its delicate interplay between soloist and orchestra, and for the lack of overly extroverted display on the part of the soloist (Wikipedia) - Развлечения
the most beautiful movie ever made. on many levels.
Agree100%
Like lyfe very beautiful
Based on a biography of a very interesting person. Wonderful producer. Wonderful director. Some of the best actors ever. Arguably the best movie score composer ever. So, yes, on so many levels.
Couldn't agree more
Yes, it is.
As a Dane, Isac Dinesen aka Baroness Karen Blixen is an icon. Her maiden name was Dinesen and she married Baron Blixen - a real womanizer and he gave her syphilis and no children. Her time in Africa (Kenya) ended badly - Bror Blixen was more interested in spending the time with all kind of women than to actually run a coffee farm - so her affair with this adventurer (sorry can't remember his name just now) was not only for a short affair, but she really loved him (and he probably did love her)
She went bankrupt and returned to Denmark and wrote the book 'Out of Africa' - plus a lot of other books and stories.
One of my neighbors is Kragerup Estate - owned by the Dinesen family - yes the family of Karen Blixen
I can only recommend to read her stories if Out of Africa is the only one you know
I think the movie is a beautiful memoral to this remarkable and strong woman (even Arthur Miller and Marylin Monroe thought it important to meet her)
Cordialement.
One of the most beautiful movies - ever. The music, the beauty of Africa, absolutely everything.
YES So beautiful
Mony orphans live in powerty now
My favourite film I went to Africa and it was beautiful. The colours of Africa... The music always reminds me of my late husband. I watch this film over and over and let my tears flow x
Same here 😢
Oh Kay that’s so wonderful. My very favorite movie and soundtrack of my lifetime I’m 53 now 1st heard at 21. 1991. I would like to go. Blessings dear
Same here ❤ Did you live in Africa?
I have friends from South Africa. Many years ago I was taken on a 6 week safari with a group of friends with my children and late husband and it has never left me. I recommend anyone who loves Africa to read "I dreamed of Africa " by Kuki Gallmann. Its a lovely read. I have been fortunate to have travelled to many places in my life and Africa was one of the best.
Bless your heart my dear friend..
I don't feel down, but I cried to this.
Thinking why, I simply wished there was more love in this world.
Them holding hands in the airplane was so moving.
Same here 😭😭😭
It kills me every time I see her reach back for his hand. She reminds me of my ex-girlfriend and we held hands a lot. But she is part of the woke mob, and I am not, so she left me sadly, for no good reason. I still hope and pray we can one day find a way to have both love and mutual acceptance of our differences. Such a waste blowing a beautiful loving relationship over minor differences of perspectives. "They" have divided us. Can Americans reunite and see through this subversion?

Out of Africa’s soundtrack with a blend of beautiful Kenya scenery and Mozart puts me in a state of reverie.
I am glad it does.
1986 Carbonear, Newfoundland, and the tears ran down my cheeks as I sat in the icy cinema pregnant with my 1st child and longed for my country, South Africa. The evocative music and the images ignited a longing so deep, so very real.

Beautiful music.I am so sorry
Christmas Eve my father had a stroke. I had mixed a tape of Out of Africa and Somewhere in Time. It was on a loop and as I spent my last day with my Dad it was playing quietly in the background. When I got ready to leave Daddy said he had enjoyed the music and so I left it with him and told him to enjoy it. I used it to put me to sleep every night. I did not know then that it would be the last thing we would share. He went to heaven listening to this beautiful music. He never expressed any joy of music that was classical, so glad I gave him something to look forward to hearing more of now.
Never fails to make me cry. I have most of the music on my playlist. Redford and Streep at their finest, portraying that loving friendship. The scene where he washes her hair.....beautiful. Relationships btwn people and with the country so finely tuned. Thank you.
No other music could better express these clips: Mozart.❤
This was my clarinet solo performance late high school
Is such a beautiful piece of music.
My favourite movie and I love that so many others from around the world have it as their favourite too. An epic story in an epic land, some of the most beautiful shots ever filmed, and a sumptuous soundtrack. Thank you for sharing!

So breichernd.Danke. 🌈
One of those amazing movies that asks so many questions, answers for few and leave you with beautiful memories. And how can you go wrong with a guy named Mozart’s music?
One of the best films I have seen. The music is splendid. I love Mozart
I think so. It's my favorite music
I fell in love with Africa the moment I stepped foot on the ground. The light, the vibrancy, the colours, the smells, the wild vast landscape and the animals, it was all so wondrous. The film and this beautiful video accompanied by a stunning piece of music just takes me back to that moment. Thank you for posting.
Your experience was beautifully stated.
2023, wir haben es genau so erlebt. Aber hier in Tansania.😊
Mozart, the one and only. No other music could better express these clips.
I lived in Africa as a young adult. Met and married a young Englishwoman. This movie is evocative of so many memories...
"Pożegnanie z Afryką", jeden z najpiękniejszych filmów, po prostu poezja... do tego jeszcze Mozart i muzyka Johna Barry,
no i tak jak pisałam już o "Elzie z afrykańskiego buszu" -
ta historia zdarzyła się naprawdę...💞
Tears in my eyes everytime I hear this concerto and see the Picture the lions lay down on the earth where he is in.
Mozarts clarinet concerto just might be the finest peice of music ever written.
Certainly one of them.
For someone that doesn't like clarinet
I must say I love it.
Merci
"He was not ours; he was not mine!" (his funeral). A masterpiece of existential worldview, too. The cast was ridiculously talented and the scenery, simply stunning. I'm glad she started coffee there, it's some of the best ;).
It was made very romantic, but Streep was nothing like Karen Blixen who had dark hair and who wasn't the most attractive woman around . Beautiful scenery of Kenya.
❤❤❤
Superb acting, stunning photography, beautiful music and amazing storyline. The best movie ever made.
I ALWAYS wanted to go to Africa, since I was a little girl. After watching this movie in 1980, I finally went in 2008. I fell IN LOVE with Africa ❤
One of the most beautiful movies I ever saw ... The scenes of the airplane flying, together
with Mozart´s composition, is simply splendid, and everytime I see/listen to it, it is impossible to control the tears....
I too get very emotional.
Saw this movie the night before I left Africa after 12 years there. This music still has the capacity to make me cry and feel I am right back there in Africa. I will never forget my time there. No country can ever compare.

Beautiful thanks love Mozart.
The most beautiful film sequence I have seen in my life - and I am 83!
Because of that movie, I went to Kenya, was in Karen Blixen’s house, and Ngonghills.
"I had a farm in Africa." One of the most evocative lines in any movie.
And a home ! Recently lost . But the music lives on . Awesome Africa .
@@fionahiggins6682 , “at the foot of the Ngong hills”.
Along with "Last night I dreamed I was at Manderly" and "Call me Ishmael" one of the all time great opening lines to a book.
STUNNING FILM
Why would anyone give thumbs down!!! To this movie and music!!! 👎👎💕💕💕💕💕
One of the greatest combination of music and film of all times!
I just watched this film today and i felt deeply moved by it, it may be the amazing african scenery or the genious music or perhaps the touching performances but i hadnt felt so strongly after finishing watching a movie for a long time. To say that this has become one of my favourite movies would be correct 💚
I wanted to send a friend the trailer, but trailers in 1985 were so bad, I looked for something else. Thank you for making this. It shows how gorgeous the movie was.
My husband made me love classic music. We lived in West Berlín for some years and I had the opportunity of listening this marvellous music which touched all my senses and my soul. Mozart heals your mind and body and Beethoven just adored him.
I found out recently too that Beethoven adored Mozart. Mozart comes out on top for me.
One of my all time favorite films. The music added to the beauty and made it more sensuous and memorable. Every time I hear this piece I think of Out of Africa, such a well made movie. Cinematography was exquisite.
just magic
Serdecznie dziękuję. Brak słów aby opisać piękno muzyki, miłości, krajobrazów.
I recently lost a friend who had a farm in what was Rhodesia many years ago. This beautiful film and the music reminds me so much of the stories my friend, Vhan, told me of his life there. He was born in Denmark but Africa became his home, He died, aged 86, and he too loved this movie and the beautiful music. Nerilyn Stark. Vhan ,s funeral was in Berry, NSW.but he always hoped it would be in Africa.
Cette vidéo me rappelle de merveilleux et d'emouvants souvenirs...OUT OF AFRICA FOR EVER...
Saw this movie as a kid in the 1990s whilst living in Germany, little did I know I will move to Kenya for 12 years and see a number of those sights with my own eyes... beautiful country
This is cinema. This is music. This is one unic moment in life.
unique.

This is my favourite RUclips clip of all time. The film is the supreme example of the director's art. I was a pilot once in my youth but I never got to fly over such stunning scenery, holding hands with Meryl Streep!
DennisBetts, Consider yourself lucky already. At least you can fly a plane. Flying over such scenic beauty must be something to carry to the grave. You never got to hold hands with Meryl Streep bcs perhaps in your youth she wasn't famous yet. I hope that consoles you Lolz.
Isn't God good I mean Jesus he gave us the chance to see this movie he put it together how blessed we are
This may be my favorite of classic Mozart. Great movie!
Always my favourite movie - I've watched it over 20 times and I travel frequently to Kenya and conduct safaris and visit places where the movie was made and always include Karen Blixen's house.
This film is wonderful. One of my favorites. Her clothes stunning. So romantic. Watch it again and again.
Reminds me of someone special who had a adventurous spirit
Yes. Have you ever seen this movie? It's a must see! The music in it is so beautiful. And yes, Karen has a beautiful adventurous spirit!
Oui magnifique !!!!

"I once had a farm in Africa, at the foot of the N'gong hills". One of the greatest lines in litterature.

@@bradgreeley1604 Plural. He knew what he was writing. Try to see beyond the fairy tales you where told as child. Both are fiction with the sole purpose of maintaining authority over the uneducated. The oldest trick in history and as you prove, still very effective today.
Sorry, but every scolding will eventually get its equal response, and fair enough I have been, and still are you in different dialogues.
It was this film that first introduced me to Mozart for I am extremely grateful.
Only God give life and diferents gives to the man who God made.
My favourite RUclips clip.
Amazing how theme (classical) music can add an extra layer of emotional depth to an already wonderful movie
A great sound track to film is like an extra character in the plot. And if it's so good like this Mozart piece, we lose ourselves in the film and forget it's even playing.
"I HAD A FARM IN AFRICA....".
I saw this as a teen when it was released. My friends and loved it and many times throughout the school day, as we.d pass each other in the halls between classes, or during awkward silences on group dates, we.d say "I had a farm in Africa."
How I underestimated my old self. I miss that bold and unique girl and I miss great films.
Thank you for posting.

The cinematographer was David Watkin who deservedly won an oscar for his work on this wonderful film.
David lived at Sussex Mews, Brighton, England for many years until his death on 19 February 2008.
Had the pleasure of meeting David a number of times at his home and out socially.
This is really a high point in the movie Out of Africa and captures the beauty and grandeur of the land.
This is my all time favourite film in combination with my favourite clarinet piece - takes me back to two places in time at once, one 58 yrs ago when I played this piece for my Grade 8 Clarinet exam and another place of bliss 51 yrs ago and for a completely different reason - both were lost to me and so finding this is blissful. Thank you.

What a lovely way to both visually and via audio appreciate the beauty of Mozart clarinet concerto in A major, K. 622 - Adagio. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful feast of the senses of the beauty all around us. The story, the movie director, the cinematographer, the actor and actress and the one and only Mozart made all of these possible. Bravo !
ONE OF THE CLASSICS NEVER FAILS TO BRING LIGHT AND WONDERMENT
Fabulous! Mozart music is extraordinaire! The promenade on plain inbelieble! And the actors! Meryl Streep! The whole story! The photos! The mysticism! One of the most genial moovies ever done!! I never got tired to see it! Manuela Dias (Portugal).
Out of Africa is one of my favorite movies. The breathtaking African landscape, John Barry's and Mozart's beautiful music and amazing acting.
Absolutely STUNNING movie and so much beauty. This music and all the music in this movie is fantastic. This movie changed me! Much love to all who read this! 💞
The clarinet, oboe and cello touch that quasi melancholy emotion which make it worthwhile being a human being....
William, I agree. It touches the heart and emotional energy centers--shakes them to the core. Lovely.
schöner kann man es fast nicht sagen!
I shall use this phrase about several things. There are many things that make it worthwhile being a human being, thank you mr. Sweeney

Congratulations, you have added all beautiful shots of my favorite movie with John Barry's awesome soundtrack, here Mozarts masterpiece, thank you! Africa is unique and breathtaking
It turns out that the fundamental loneliness of a human being is so vast that it can only be harmonious with this land, and so splendid with a short kiss of love…
My very favorite flick of all time. And my fav Mozart piece. Beautifully edited. Thank you.
Africa is my spiritual home, born and raised there, tugs the heart seeing it every time
if I know a song of Africa - I thought- of the Giraffe and the African new moon lying on her back, of the plows in the fields, wonderful writing passing on to the reader a wonder, a love and the sadness of losing. The Mozart clarinet concerto was so appropriate. The African people were so incredible their gentleness and their fearlessness, with a certain insight into life. When Karen walked away from Farah boarding the train my heart broke. Karen's words echoing in my mind "it was all so good. I like many of the other commenters loved this movie. No one can ignore the way the Brits treated the African people "after all it is their land". The actors did a fine job I think there was a time when I could repeat the entire script word for word. Thanks for sharing this.
Never seen film, but this amazing piece of music inspired me to take up the clarinet..........obviously was never as talented as this !
Talent is just pursued interest. Keep working and you can sound like this.
Not going to lie, it’s going to take a lot of hard work, but the feeling of PERFORMING is much more intense than LISTENING to it.
@@GuytanoMartorano thank you for your kind comments and words of encouragement.
Don’t lock yourself into a sound that “is as good as” anything. Just make it your musical instrument and enjoy YOUR journey. 😊🛶Advice from a 75 year old playing my own music to stay sane ….. (clarinet, soprano sax, sopparino sax, 4 string banjo and minstrel banjo).

Yes, it is very beautiful.
A true love story. Awesome photography. Beautiful soundtrack. Music to move the hardest heart.
