    Wow, so grateful for this video! Thank you! My washer is up and running again. The hardest part of all of this is removing the lid switch - mine had some rust - so I followed the video and removed the lid to get access and cut the wires. After that, it was smooth sailing!

    My setup was slightly different (there was also a rubber tube attached to the control panel) and I had some difficulty getting the clips off, but overall this solved my problem and only took about 15-20 mins. Washer is spinning again woot! Thanks for the video and the part.

    The switch isn't always the culprit sometimes when you have the settings set to soak the washer will time out and not finish washing. Turn the soak selector off. If washing machine starts working you've found the issue isn't the switch but the control panel.

    I have the GE Profile top loading washer. It started a cycle then never finished. When I try to start it, it just says "lid". I replaced the lid switch and still nothing. After replacing the lid switch, I jarred the washer (mostly out of frustration) and it worked momentarily and stopped again. Won't fill, won't drain the water that got in from its short window of working time. What else can it be? the other side of the sensor is s magnet. I don't think it is the issue.

    If the switch is bad and the washer stopped running , would the start button be able to restart the washer if the lid was not raised or lowered. I'm trying to figure out why I have to keep pushing the start button to restart the washer after it stops during a cycle . How do I by pass the lid switch and keep the washer going even if the lid is up as I can see if the washer shuts off during a cycle . Can I just connect the 2 wires coming from the machine together and that will make it as if the lid was closed and the washer should work as if the lid was closed ? Of course I will shut the lid during the cycle but if it stops again during a cycle I can rule out its not the lid switches fault Right ?

      Chris Deal It sounds like a problem with the controls. Depending on your model you would have a control board or timer. Front loading washers often have a motor control board. Enter you model number into our website search box to view the parts for your washing machine. www.repairclinic.com/RepairHelp/Washing-Machine-Repair-Help

      ***** My washer model is wjrr4170g2ww. I found this part: www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/b3p11/GE-Washing-Machine-Timer/WH12X10348/1264499?modelNumber=WJRR4170G2WW&ss=a11b3c13d862673&mr=1 .     • @repairclinic
      @repairclinic  9 лет назад

      Chris Deal That is the control and we have a 365 day return policy. Testing a timer is complicated as you have to be able to read the wiring diagram and test for output voltages at various wires, terminals, or components.

I could see maybe raising the lid if you had fat hands or not very flexible or maybe some models but I’ve never seen a washer that you can’t get to the switch from inside the lid, or at least that you can’t poke your head inside and look and you can see the switch, and the wiring and there’s a few inches of room all the way around... plenty of room to fit your hand
