For people talking about RA not being In the manga. The author was rushed since he was in poor health but he did say he wanted all 3 of them there. So the anime provided that for him.
English Pharaoh: *Performs amateur poetry to call out the Egyptian god, Ra* Japanese Pharaoh: *Performs satanic prayer to call out the Egyptian god, Ra* Egyptian Pharaoh: *Chills out with the Egyptian god, Ra, because they're both gods and have a terrific bromance going on*
using the tricky with tricky spell 4 in real decks is actually an excellent combo to bring out the gods without having to use ultimate offering, or, if you have them in the graveyard you can special summon them with the shallow grave (works best with Obelisk) since they will be summoned facedown the effect that returns them to the grave won't apply and since Obelisk and Osiris (when you have enough cards in your hand) will have a lot of defense you can flip them up next turn and bypass the summoning conditions though it's slow.

I sense more of that “ancient Egyptian spirituality” in the Japanese version. Atem doing the chant in his people’s dead language and the lower volume in his voice feels more impactful. True, the English version can be understood by the viewer and it’s pretty powerful but it’s not the same without that calm, low tone.

The background music in the japanese version does it and says a lot in the scene. Its absolute beauty. American version im sorry its not the same when they decide to remove the music and change it.

"Eternal presence within our sky Shaking heavens where your powers lie Mercy everlasting; as deep as the Nile Strike down the hearts of those most vile Judgement hour for those who came The time is now, and so thy name: SLIFER THE SKY DRAGON!"
in Japanese version, when atem speaking in ancient Egyptian language. i think the yellow aura is like barrier to censor his words. so anyone won't able to hear him this is kinda like Ron was able to open the Chamber by mimicking Parseltongue
the Japanese is better because 2 reasons 1: the music it really does make you hype and it's epic as well it does really fit perfectly 2: the chant fits as well like ra is like Satan and stuff
The Egyptian reads as follows "My god, thrice do I offer these souls unto thee. My god, obtain their might and descend. My god, only to those who offer thy ancient incantation to the heavens shall ye appear."

bro tell me why i hadn't heard this in a while and after listening to it again it gave me chills like damn bro its just your homeboy yugi you dont gotta flex on him
For people talking about RA not being In the manga. The author was rushed since he was in poor health but he did say he wanted all 3 of them there. So the anime provided that for him.
Joey saw Ra and started having flashbacks 😂
Damn I just love how Dan Green made Atem so fucking cool!
English Pharaoh: *Performs amateur poetry to call out the Egyptian god, Ra*
Japanese Pharaoh: *Performs satanic prayer to call out the Egyptian god, Ra*
Egyptian Pharaoh: *Chills out with the Egyptian god, Ra, because they're both gods and have a terrific bromance going on*
TF? O.o' satanic sounding? Let me listen to it again
The chant is in Ancient Egyptian. That's why it sounds satanic. That and the voice effects
If I could chose, it would be english voices and japanese soundtrack
Alexander Ringler exactly!
it should be the other way around
i'd take japanese voices with the english soundtrack
Honestly I'd take English and English. And I don't care what you guys say about me! Nothing's gonna change my mind!
Alexander Ringler exactly man
He’s speaking the language of the gods…
english version with this epic Orchestra OST is done very very powerfull and show us how mighty Ra is!
Agreed !
Nah the Japanese dialogue and voice acting is better. But hey agree to disagree.
@@robertisham5279 that's what i'm saying idk why they don't like Shunsuke's voice maybe coz he is too good for Atem
using the tricky with tricky spell 4 in real decks is actually an excellent combo to bring out the gods without having to use ultimate offering, or, if you have them in the graveyard you can special summon them with the shallow grave (works best with Obelisk) since they will be summoned facedown the effect that returns them to the grave won't apply and since Obelisk and Osiris (when you have enough cards in your hand) will have a lot of defense you can flip them up next turn and bypass the summoning conditions though it's slow.
I love the differences in tone between Yami Marik's chant and this one. Marik's was basically "Get out here and smite these bitches" while Atem's was "I humbly request you fight at my side"
The Japanese version actually has a chant which is so much cooler
Yeah i kinda agree.
No, the 4Kids message is more epic.
@@littleneonstar756 how so? This was supposed to be something that only the Pharoah knows. Meaning it should something we normal people can't decipher.
Plus Malik chant and Atem chant are different
Malik "Great beast of the sky please hear my cry
Atem : Almighty protector of the sun and sky
@@MasterofVirology The difference isn't important. The fact is that the 4Kids message is powerful and intimidating and even it's not an ancient language, that's still a translation of this language and it's powerful. That's all.
It's more effort, sure. But imagine Dan Green doing that chant, he would have slayed it.
I always loved how different Atem’s chant for the Winged Dragon Of Ra was compared to Marik’s version of the chant although they were similar it goes to show you just how different both characters were and the chants are proof of that Yu-Gi-Oh was just a top tier show
I sense more of that “ancient Egyptian spirituality” in the Japanese version.
Atem doing the chant in his people’s dead language and the lower volume in his voice feels more impactful. True, the English version can be understood by the viewer and it’s pretty powerful but it’s not the same without that calm, low tone.
I love that The japanese version is an actual chant
This brings back memories
Look at poor Jonouchi's expression, he was getting some heavy ptsd there from his duel with Dark Marik.
Prefer Japanese music in this one, but Dan Green kills the epicness. If only we could have both. That Japanese music plus Dan Green’s chant would be perfect imo
Yeah the music is better in the sub for sure
tc tokoy is way you cant have both tc toyko is domb fucks who wont let the dub comepy use japne msuic dan green said this himslef i dont way they cabnt be mro like toei ant let the dub compey have in opsin to make show fulyl uncut with both dub and sub msuic so we can pick like you coul with the dbz dvds
I do like the sub one but i honestly prefer the dub backround music it fits more
@@fatihlatifoski1978 Yeah.
omg when he started chanting the ancient text omg i got chills on a massive scale
Not even a question, the Japanese was so much more epic! He had to chant in a dead language to call it, that’s some terrifying shit. Yūgi has to have balls of steel just to face that, let alone beat it.
I’m sorry but Dan Green alone makes it way more epic than the Japanese version
@@dino988 nah that's cap lmao
@@pennytrui1149 🧢
The background music in the japanese version does it and says a lot in the scene. Its absolute beauty. American version im sorry its not the same when they decide to remove the music and change it.
"I call upon God of the Royal Palace
To crush thy foe with plagues of malice
With fists of fate, and heart of stone,
I offer tribute of skin and bone
May your power forever reign
As I now call out thy name:
OBELISK THE TORMENTOR!"
"Eternal presence within our sky
Shaking heavens where your powers lie
Mercy everlasting; as deep as the Nile
Strike down the hearts of those most vile
Judgement hour for those who came
The time is now, and so thy name:
SLIFER THE SKY DRAGON!"
The slifer one makes sense due to slifer being based on osiris. The god of the deceased.
Amazing poetry
in Japanese version, when atem speaking in ancient Egyptian language.
i think the yellow aura is like barrier to censor his words. so anyone won't able to hear him
this is kinda like Ron was able to open the Chamber by mimicking Parseltongue
Dan Green has such a powerful voice honestly. No screaming, no try harding, just downright natural badass.
Chills. Literally chills.
the Japanese is better because 2 reasons
1: the music it really does make you hype and it's epic as well it does really fit perfectly
2: the chant fits as well like ra is like Satan and stuff
oreki houtarou I agree
Ra is Satan? Where the hell did you get that? Lol.
The violin ruins the Japanese soundtrack. English is 100x better.
The chant is better but the music is shit just some shitty violin and piano
The 4Kids version is more epic and intimidating for the chant and the music.
Imagine the fear someone would feel when facing the Devine cards in 1 turn, with the cards at the time. Honestly I’d just walk away
Your profile pic fits perfectly with this haha
This is why you are not Yugi Moto.
Dan Green totally killed it as Yugi back in the day. Way better than the japanese VA.
He also knocked it out of the park as Yugi/Atem in the movie Bonds Beyond Time.
No, i mean yes but the overall dialogue and cut parts are for shame. Plus the japanese soundtrack is way better
Killed what? Yugi is supposed to be 16 not 36.
+Aerry Suri Ahm... nooo! O.o English completley childish bullshit. Original Japanese rules for ever.
dont forget that Atem is actually a 5000 year old spirit, rather than a teen, so you can forgive the deeper voice
it was nice to see Ra serving his true king
0:32 It's mega ultra chicken so he instantly lost lol
😂😂😂 mega ultra chicken 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@shawnharmon7304 along with his friend obalisk the tormentor and Schleifer, the executive producer
The Egyptian reads as follows "My god, thrice do I offer these souls unto thee. My god, obtain their might and descend. My god, only to those who offer thy ancient incantation to the heavens shall ye appear."
If you combined Atem and Marik chant, you have a bitching chant. Almighty protector of the sun and sky I beg of thee please my cry. Transform thyself from orb of light and grant me victory in this fight. Envelope the desert with thy glow and cast thy rage upon my foes
kyuuibi rasagen Japanese version of the chat is infinitely better, it doesn't have that shitty childish sounding chat.
Renegadesaiyan You're right. It sounds dark! I love that
I disagree. Both actually sound like they're asking a middle eastern god to come to their aid, which they are. I prefer that to mumbling I can't understand.
RavenFal lol true. well everyone has their opinion/ I can still respect yours
When someone special summons 3 cards and suddenly he starts speaking anchient Egyptian and glowing. You know what's up.
Great ad of the sky please hear my cry.
Transform thyself from orb of light and bring me victory in this fight.
Envelop the stream with your glow and cast your ads upon my foe.
Unock your ads from deep within so that together we may win!

Sure, Kaiba has faced all three gods at once before and doesn't flinch but when it's Yugi's turn his jaw drops like crazy.
Japanese version, is the best of all!
Get goosebumps every time I hear that chant
Almighty protector of the sun sky, I beg of thee please heed my cry. Transform thyself from orb of light and bring me victory in this fight. I beseech thee grace our humble game but first I shall call out thy name, WINGED DRAGON OF RA.
AS I CALL OUT THY NAME *MEGA ULTRA CHICKEN*
As i call your name*
Can't decide which Winged Dragon of Ra theme is more epic. Both of them are so epic
+Hassan Raza Agreed. They definitely made things go perfectly there.
“The ancient chant! He knows it!”
No shit Ishizu.
Imagine if you had to recite the full chant in Kemet to legally use the card irl
I usually choose Japanese in animes but this time English is better
I'm the opposite. I usually choose English, but Japanese is wayyy better for Yu-Gi-Oh in my opinion
Atem's voice.
+Jo-Smooth Japanese wins this round
+Onur BABA Atem's voice in English is cool until you realize he's 16 lol
he is 3000 years old
The ancient chat in ancient Egyptian hits different
Mewtwo = Yugi. Dan green is goated.
Almighty protector of the sun and sky, I beg of thee, please heed my cry. Transform thyself from orb of light and bring me victory in this fight. I beseech thee, grace our humble game. But first I shall...call out thy name, Winged Dragon of Ra!
I, like most fans, believe the Japanese dub to be superior to the English dub overall, but this is one of the times where I have to give it to the English dub for really selling just how big a deal and freaking EPIC this moment was meant to be. Not to say the Japanese version dropped the ball here but the English dub just approached this scene better.
Now THIS GUY gets it
MrEffectfilms yesss
No, original is way better
No. The epicness is in the original just because of the chant. Atem speaking in one of his native languages is so freaking amazing (hieratic were used mostly in religious ceremonies, literature, etc). Also, the music is great.
God bless you all!!! Bye!!!
@@Adryleira yes the English chant is a cheap version since everyone can read and use ra if they could hear those chant words atem use for summoning ra!
When yugi summons ra it gets me soo hyped because he knew the chant
Was just watching this, and then john cena screwed it up
And now I summon, JOHN CENA! do do do do
*yOu CanT sEE M€.*
Joey had PTSD just seeing RA again.
anyway, the chant is way better in japanese version. it's may be creepy but it fits atem's origin (ancient egypt, arabic world, prophecy...) so much. it's suppose to be an ancient spell !
but i personally prefer yami marik's version.
What the heck is the difference with Yami Marik's version ?
Love both versions and love both VA but cant deny God's Anger as the choice of music for the sub. LOVE the soundtrack for the sub
The Japanese version is better; it makes summoning Ra more unique
ShadowWriter45 To English people at least
I like the music in the English version better.
In english is much better men
the voice is quite crappy in english , but the english versión music gives me the creeps , it’s very good
Luis Perez idk man, the dub music doesn’t sound as fitting/epic/godly etc as the subbed music. It’s called “gods anger”
I cant wait till LK gets to the final season. It literally writes itself for him.
OK this will be the first and last time I say this. 'I can't believe 4kids did a better job than the original!'
Lol no the 4kids dub is cancer
I know I agree! They messed up big time on One piece but the voice actors are amazing and stand out in their own way in teh dub, making the characters more distinctive. The japanese doesn't have that touch and they don't have that spark to me in this one, and the dub seems more passionate. Just the censoring is where I give thumbs down for the dub lol. I'm surprised people find the Japanese better since theres more raw feeling in the dub surprisingly.
Are you drunken?
voice dubbing is crap, but the music in 4kids’ versión in this one is quite good
