Just finished my nightstands, and they turned out great! I used three pieces of rebar evenly spaced across each side, rather than the "X" and stained with deeper gray, sanded, then some brown, sanded, followed by transparent gray. It turned out very nice (wish I could post a photo). God bless.

Nice plan Matt, I just built one of these and am working on another. I did change it up a bit though. I used pocket holes like the plan but my preferred method is dowels with the dowelmax jig, pocket holes work well here though! I would sent you a pic but don't know how to do it here. I painted the base in an off white and stained the shelf, top and drawer front a dark walnut. really like your videos keep it up!

Matt, awesome little builds. I have been building cabinets and furniture pieces for a minute. I have found for your finish, that shellac (clear) with 2 thin coats( sanding 220 in between coats) and finishing with a Johnson's finishing paste (2 coats or more). This gives you a amazingly smooth finish (like dining room table). I did this on my own dining table. Only I did 4 coats of shellac for durability. It's way easier than poly. Much nicer of a look too. I have pics of product that I mentioned. But I can't attach them to the comments.

Hey Matt, I just finished building the coffee table and the end table. Thank you for the idea. I noticed the pocket holes barely show on the leg braces and the bottom shelf. Mine did too. Just a thought, but if you lowered that horizontal brace 1/2", those holes wouldn't show. Just a thought. When I build it again, I think I'll lower them 1/2" and see what happens.

Hey Matt. I just completed this table after purchasing your plans, but I only needed 2.5 1x6x10’ boards; not 5. Also, I think there might be a mix up on your measurements on the side pieces. Mixed them up. Anyways, it turned out great and I used the same paint scheme you and I both used on the Country Coffee table so they match. Wife loves it too. And I have two boards left over now to build something else. Love your ideas. Thanks.

How can I rip boards if I don’t have table saw?. Old disabled lady trying to make projects to pay for meds to stay alive, can’t buy table saw yet, just paid $900 for 3 DAYS of meds. Thank you, I truly appreciate your videos, much more informative & helpful than others, you are a good man.

A track saw works for wider boards. Or maybe build some type of jig?

Pocket hoes are useful and a practical solution, even those high end furnitures are using them.

Aslong as you use the pocket hole for what it’s meant for I see no issue 😎

Outstanding work as usual. Not a huge fan of the music though. This is my favorite channel, each video is always an improvement from the last.

For such a lite table it might have been better to wood slides for the drawer? Looks awesome!!

    Two things:
    1. Thanks for showing how to joint without a jointer. Beginning woodworkers like myself can’t afford it all to start, and my previous farmhouse end table could have seriously used some jointing.
    2. Where did you get the wooden mallet? A link would be awesome.

Thanks. I made the mallet myself.

Hey Matt. These are awesome and I bought the plans. I have built the coffee table but think you have a typo in the plans for the coffee table in the cut list. You call out Label B as the top side rails and they are 5 1/2 by 12 but the bottom side rails E are called out as 2 1/2 x 11 1/2. The top and bottom rails have to be the same length. Label C and D also have the same issue. If you assemble per the plans, the rail heights are incorrect and the lower table will not fit correctly
