Temperature is a limiting factor. Photochromic lenses will get darker in colder weather. Try Transitions XTRActive for better results in Walter weather.
Hello Daniel. Thank you for doing this video. It was very informative for me. In the video...when you walked outside to demo...what specific color were those transition 8 lenses? (Amber or Brown.) I want to be sure to order the correct color! thank you. 😊
In my experience I haven’t noticed any degrading in under three to four years, and even then it is hard to tell anything has changed. They may eventually get to a point where they do not clear up all the way, but they will not stay noticeably tinted.
Is cleaning these lenses any different? At the moment I use Solution 3-60 lens cleaner (Ethanl, propan-2-ol, methanol, Allyl alcohol). your tom davies specs look fantastic btw
Thank you! I recommend avoiding any cleaners with chemicals to prolong the life of the AR coating. There are some good ones on the market like Purity. Good old fashioned dish soap works very well and is safe for coatings.
Hi Lin, I chose Brown. As of this writing Transitions Gen 8 is only available in Grey, Brown, & Graphite Green. Amber and the rest of the Style Colors should be available in the U.S. in early 2020.
I’ve timed it after coming back inside out of the sun and it looks pretty clear in about 3 minutes, but if you look carefully there may still be s slight residual color until about 5 minutes. After the 5 minute point it should be completely back to normal.
Transitions Gen 8 is the fastest to change color, but generally does not darken behind the windshield. XTRActive Gen 2 is capable of reaching category 2 darkness behind the windshield, however it may be slower than Signature Gen 8 to fade back to clear.
Hello! In the U.S. the Transitions website has a dealer locator. If I were you, I would look to see if the Transitions website in India also has a dealer locator to find your nearest optician. Best of luck!
The frame I am wearing in the beginning is made my Masunaga. It is a titanium model in black and gold called the Waldorf. FYI, the lenses in those are Gen 7 Emerald.
A bit OCD, but it bugs me that you can see a section surrounding the lenses (i.e. at the top margins) where the Transitions coating is not present, when they are darkened. It just seems sloppy somehow.
Please tell me at which point in the video that you see this. The Transitions lens will darken all over leaving no margin clear. The only reason you would see any part of the lens not darkening would be if that part of the lens was shielded by something that did allow the UV rays to make contact.
Your vision is super sharp then. I’m jealous. Most people can not detect any visible color indoors, unless holding the lenses over bright white paper and comparing next to a non-transitions lens.
It has been known for some time that digital blue light from devices can be a strain on the eyes. The lenses I am referencing in the video are one way to limit exposure to this blue light. Other methods are turning on features like Apple's Nightshift feature, or observing the 20/20/20 rule. This rule states that one should look away from their screen at something a distance of 20 feet away every 20 minutes for 20 seconds.
Hello, I had a question regarding the blue light filter. Do you see a yellowish tint on the screen when on your phone or a computer or movie theater? I would like the colors to be accurate because I do graphic design. Do they cause reflections when looking at your phone for example from the outside of the lens?
@@SurajBatavia hi, I have 100 % identical lenses in two different pairs of eyeglasses, one with and one without Transitions. They are made by Epson/Japan. The Transition 8 amber version has a slight yellowish tint. It is absolutely not noticeable under normal circumstances, but looking at a white sheet of paper or a clear white screen background it is. With dark colours it also is not noticeable, though blues and greens look ever so slightly different. The anti-reflective coating looks slightly lesser effective on the transition pair, when I look directly onto the lenses comparing the same reflection. However when wearing, the transition looks actually a bit better, it's slightly yellowish reflection which makes it lesser distracting to my eyes. The Transition 8 are a good progress over the older Transitions, although I find it overpriced I can recommend it. It makes the eyeglasses so much more versatile. However, I'd say if you really depend on 100 % true colour reproduction get clear lenses.
@@SurajBatavia The grey version had a slight grey tint remaining, just a hint of a shading if you know what I mean, with to my opinion a tiny little bit of a purplish hue, about which the optician did not agree with me. It may be the result of the lighting in that shop, I don't know.
Thanks for letting me know what to expect. I ordered 5515 silhouette rimless blue with the new sapphire transitions .
Just got my new 8th gen ! First time using that technology and im really impressed!! Nice video and keep up the good work sir !!

Hello Sylvia! That was the Brown color.
Transitions signature Gen 8 Graphite Green comes with Crizal fog ID or not? Please clarify.
Do you know how many years they last? If they degrade, by staying permanently tinted or anything like that?
In my experience I haven’t noticed any degrading in under three to four years, and even then it is hard to tell anything has changed. They may eventually get to a point where they do not clear up all the way, but they will not stay noticeably tinted.
Which one you like more? Brown or Amber
I like them both, but the Brown is my favorite.

Does the lenses come with the standard anti glare, scratch, smudge, water and dust resistant coating? Do I need to specify coating when I get them?
Hello Logan. You’ll want to ask for those add on features to be sure you get them.
Sir how do customers know if they are buying the real gen8 but not gen7 or even fake products?
They can ask for a Transitions certificate of authenticity with their new lenses.
Hi, which color did you choose? Amber or brown? Cheers.

@@seeingclearly Now they have Amber and Amethyst (Purple)
J D Yes! All the Style colors are great, especially with the Gen 8 technology. I reviewed my latest Sapphire lenses in my most recent video.
So how long does it take to get back to normal?

@@seeingclearly Sounds good enough for me 🙂 thanks buddy!
what is the difference between Transitions® Signature® GEN 8 ™
Transitions® XTRActive® ??
Transitions Gen 8 is the fastest to change color, but generally does not darken behind the windshield. XTRActive Gen 2 is capable of reaching category 2 darkness behind the windshield, however it may be slower than Signature Gen 8 to fade back to clear.
May I ask what is the second frame name? It's really nice, especially as sunglasses :)
Thank you! The second frame is model TD516 by Tom Davies.
I want to get transition signature Gen 8 . unable to find in india.please help me to buy it.i am from Assam ,India

hello sir, my question is How many years it will last the transition lenses?
Transitions lenses are designed to last two years, which is typically the lifetime of your prescription.
May I ask what are your non Gen 8 frames in the video?
The frame I am wearing in the beginning is made my Masunaga. It is a titanium model in black and gold called the Waldorf. FYI, the lenses in those are Gen 7 Emerald.

Hello Christopher! My store is called Hicks Brunson Eyewear. We are located in the Utica Square shopping center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
If they didn’t have the tint indoors. I can see it from a mile away! Come on transitions it’s 2022!!

Volume to low.
Thanks for the feedback. I have corrected this in subsequent videos.
Total suckage. Mine don't get dark enough.
