    I’m not entirely sure she needs a microphone at all. In most of the PMJ performances the drummer is playing in a fairly restrained way. Here he’s wailing on the drums and she seems unfazed. Her voice is so powerful … I am stunned. She captures the essence of this song and expresses it so strongly. Her range, vibrato, pitch and sheer volume are amazing.

      She definitely has a great voice, but personally I'm not really a fan of this arrangement including the way the backing instruments play. Both Sia's original and PMJ's previous version with Puddles are superior. Puddles's version especially "spoke" more to me. But that's the great thing about having different versions, everyone can find their own favorite!

    I love it! Opera-like in elegance and vocal performance, all the while containing a lot of twists and ups and downs that keep the audience guessing and intrigued. I really appreciated the electric guitar in this, its epic opening and later on working alongside the brass. I wish its volume was boosted at the end for that sense of power. The end itself was absolutely phenomenal, a finale to remember. There are a few PMJ videos that, just by listening to them, I can tell that they must be listened to in person to enjoy to the fullest experience. This is one of those. I wanted Dani Armstrong's voice to break through this 2d screen and echo throughout my house, my neighbourhood. Shake the walls and rattle the bones of onlookers. Nice arrangement too, makes it unique and original, it's own thing, that's the stuff I love.

  • @southernguy35
    @southernguy35 4 года назад +19

    Let's look at it from how we're supposed to see it. The focus is on the singer. I would have to say she's wearing one of the most beautiful designed gowns I've ever seen. Black, but white, sheer vertical lines, airy, flying. Her voice is one to match; it so light, airy but powerful without notice.
    The center of the set is that chandelier which is important because it's the title of the song but while it's a center piece, it's never the focal point of the song, the singer is.
    We then look to the background, An elegant, paneled room with a high ceiling, beams, fireplace and everything that says class. The band is well mixed and plays to the singer. There is nothing else they could do to make this piece more perfect.
    This is why groups like this sholdn't be on youtube but on another format that does them justice.
    And you thought I didn't like the band just becaue the piano player rarely wore shoes.

    • @barbrn
      @barbrn 4 года назад +2

      I thought the band was too loud. Loved the singer & her dress was gorgeous--I like how she held it in the beginning. Maybe I'm too old but I have yet to understand the words except for the "1-2-3 drink."

    • @southernguy35
      @southernguy35 Год назад

      @@barbrn , well, she's a powerful voice and with a voice that stands out, you can have the band power up. The problem is that the piano guy is playing the piano and not leading the band to give any subtle nuances.
      But, I would say that they match but never overpower the signer. It's never a battle of the bands and the singer but always the singer must lead. Had she had a more delicate voice, not as robust, not as carrying, it would be easy for the band to overstep and we lose that one rule that the singer is always the focal point.
      I think with this band and this singer, we could conduct it where the band holds back and see a difference of lackluster. Here, they pull out all the stops and with all the elegance of white tie and tails, present this wonderful, powerful moment.

    This is so beautiful, the emotions. This is the song you'd hear in a film where they play scenes of you in battle mixed with scenes of you and your sweetheart sharing a last dance, just swaying and holding eachother close and then at the close it's your commanding officer coming to give them bad news and they collapse in despair...and now I'm crying.
