@@joecarrillo3583 If you think he’s like even anywhere near the level of someone like Ariana Grande for example you’re delusional lmfao. He’s an ok singer at best. Def not a vocalist.
The amazing thing about Jack Black is that he does all of these techniques so effortlessly. He's so underrated as a vocalist because he uses his talents for comedy, but when you actually listen to what he's able to do he's such a great vocalist. You should break down Wonderboy and Rize of the Fenix, I think those songs are the best examples of his vocal range. Also Kyle Gass is an incredibly underrated guitarist for the same reasons.
@@SolDizZo I should clarify I meant the way he sings makes it sound effortless, and also when you've seen him in movies doing it because he's always just having fun.
@@unLUCKY95 his lack of inhibitions and unbeatable enthusiasm is inspiring! I mean I can't really speak for him and he feigns egotism to say he's born with it but man... he brings the magic more than anything
One of the best examples of Jack Black's voice talent is the line "you must take your sorry ass back to hell" from Beezleboss. That perfect shift he does up to the higher register is so good.
It's crazy how you can hear someone singing and break down every stage their voice goes through. You're great at demonstrating how awesome vocalists get to the sounds that they have. Very inspiring.
I feel like a lot of vocals is discovering and playing around with your voice. When I was younger I used to worry about doing damage, but I’ve learnt over the last 10 years that worrying about it can hold you back! Jack is a great example of this!
I’m glad you made this video. JB is actually a HELL of a musician and overall a talented human being in many facets. This is just the one people sleep on the most for some reason.
Jack once said in an interview, that he couldn't do serious songs, because they would always end up really sad and depressing. So he and Kyle chose to only do comedic things and over the top.
Great analysis as always Chris! The beginning alone have so much things to pay attention and the entire song it's a masterclass of how to put a character in your voice and of course it's funny as hell haha
Haha these videos are funny! You're a great singer and I love the analysis of the song! I just saw the bowser one and thought I'd watch this one too! They're a lot of fun!
Funfact, they are doing this song live now. And not the usual funny like their video lip synching cause everyones in on the joke, i mean actual live, for the first time last year. Mans amazing.
I love your style of analyzing the "how" of voices, and JBs is definitely a fun one. I am going to start your free course. I need to "re-find" my voice. I used to be an adequate singer, HS choir, karaoke superstar lol. Then my singing voice basically went unused for IDK, 15-20 years, and I find that now at 45, I kinda can't sing for shit anymore. I don't know what happened.
The thing that always tickled me the right way with Jack Black is his "Duude. Metal is like so rad, man" antics. His childish nativity coupled with his insane range and technique, is perfect. He is every heavy metal stereotype but done insanely well... and right.
I’m so happy the Mario movie has highlighted jack blacks talents. People are now genuinely curious as to how this man is so good at what he does and realize he’s not just a joke singer, that there is genius behind that humorous façade
Yes! So happy you've finally done Jack Black! Would love for you to analyse one of the new Fall Out Boy songs, So much (for) Stardust or Fake Out are both such interesting songs and Patrick Stump's singing is always so interesting.
In my opinion, the way he uses his voice and the fact that he doesn't take himself seriously puts him directly (maybe even higher) into the Hall of Fame with Michael Jackson, Freddie Mercury and else. He is easily one of the best vocalist that is out there nowadays and i just can wish for myself to be so relaxed while singing as he is
On top of that, I agree that Jack Black is highly underated singer and performer. Not sure how much of him you have covered before but would be happy to see more!
Im pretty sure people were more elitist back then. I remember when Trivium tried to link the 80s sound with the modern metalcore sound and everyone was criticizing them a lot. Now they're pretty popular and people love their old stuff lol
Thank you for doing Jack Black. I too have always felt he’s so underrated, but so excellent. I think it was a very sad missed opportunity when he did not sing in the Muppet movie. I was so disappointed.
If I had gone voice instead of band back in the day, I could see myself being pedagogically similar to you lol. Never got all the way to band director but I WAS a MUS ED major at one point.
Yo Chris I noticed youtube took down one of your mixed voice videos, that one where you sang like Robert Plant. Any chance you're going to re-upload it or maybe make an updated video on mix? Thanks!
Chris your voice is fucking powerful. I consider myself a decent singer but can't touch master exploder. I feel myself going out of range in the beginning even before the final high note. It makes sense what you said, you have to change the technique because if you sing it the same way all the way through your going to run out of steam.
One of the most difficult songs to perform. They only did it two or three times live on the stage. Can you also analyze their 'Wicked Game' cover to show their range?
Jack Black doesn’t have an overly impressive singing voice but damn he has range and he’s a hell of a songwriter. And because of that Tenacious D is among the Rock and Roll gods. Also if your concert is metal enough to cause the earth to literally move your definitely worth the fame
If you're going down the Tenacious D rabbit hole then may I suggest the live version of Ballad of Hollywood Jack? Can't get enough of this version. m.ruclips.net/video/FljvYXOWip0/видео.html&pp=ygULdGVuYWNpb3VzIGQ%3D
The craziest part of Jack's vocals here is that he didn't even use a mic
it's just fucking powerful
actually, there is never been a recording of master exploder, the songs was played once and now its one with space and time.
@@bennojoghurtdressing317 I heard several tentative to recreate the original song, but they were just a Tribute...
He has the pick of destiny
He does not need a microphone
People have been sleeping on his vocals for over a decade. It’s insane.
Two decades brother.
Actually 3 decades cause they formed in 1994
Jack black has gone on record stating that Ronnie james dio was his inspiration and it definitely shows in his dramatics and power.
ya and I think Pick of Destiny Was Dio's last public appearance before he passed
Jack Black is CERTAINLY underrated
so so so underrated man, JB forever
Kyle too
That's a bold thing to say today.
He’s the best (nacho voice)
In my opinion, Jack Black is one of the most criminally underrated vocalists ever. He does it all.

Loving the JB videos. The guy's a hell of an entertainer and vocalist. And your breakdowns are really informative!
