Hello everyone! I can't believe the success of this video in the first day... it's insane. Thank you for coming to watch this Tribute! (see what I did there?) I would LOVE to film myself watching The Pick of Destiny for you all, as many requests down below have stated, but I unfortunately can't. There's a lot of filming and projects that I work on, that sometimes I need that buffer between that active listening for analysis videos and enjoyment, and watching this movie falls directly into the enjoyment category. Especially while pregnant, I need ways to turn work off in my head. I'm really sorry. I know you all would want to see my explosion of laughter at certain parts of the film, but I have to care for my mental health the best I can. Thank you all for understanding, and thank you once again for supporting Meat Loaf, Dio, Tenacious D and this channel! With much love, Elizabeth
You'll love the movie, everyone needs time away from work - you work so you can live and enjoy life not live so you can work so no apologies needed to anyone. Enjoy
There is just so much to love in this particular mashup of brilliant talents. Kudos to Jack and cage for making this brilliant alignment of the Stars a reality. Totally off topic but since I may have your eyes... Is there a reason you have not had Melissa Cross on is a guest yet? It seems a shoo-in given where you've been taking the channel in terms of appreciation for all styles of vocals.
Yeah they found a great kid to play him. Fun fact though there’s an old commercial for the game pitfall that he’s actually in. It was his first acting role
I wonder how much work was put into the kid mimicking Black's reactions and mannerisms. He sells being Jack Black very well with the facial expressions alone - especially the eyes and eyebrows.
It’s so depressing how CRIMINALLY underrated Jack Black is. Not only Jack Black’s voice, but Kyle Gass’s guitar skills, Tenacious D as a band and The Pick Of Destiny as a rock film
What's crazy is people know Jack black as an actor rather than from his music. And yes one of the best voices to ever be. And Kyle Gass graduated from the school of Juilliard at a relatively young age. Amazing guitarist
Fun fact: Dio's verse only took him one take. Imagine making a movie about your band and Dio accepts to participate in it. I would die from my happiness!
Not only that, he'd heard Tenacious D's song "Dio" like a decade beforehand and said something to the effect of "who the fuck are these guys? Yeah... Not passing my crown and scepter anytime soon." So the D were huge fans, annoyed their idol with a song about how he's getting too old and how they're putting him in a nursing home, and then their idol wound up being cool in the long run and did a cameo in their move.
There's a video on YT of Dio recording his part and at one point one of the guys listening drops to the floor haha which is obviously the appropriate reaction. SO COOL Surely a dream for the guys!
People are so dismissive of Tenacious D because they're a comedy act, especially nowadays as their main moment of cultural relevance is sadly past. But Jack Black and Kyle Gass are genuinely solid musicians, and "comedy act" or not, Tenacious D comes from a place of such deep love and respect from both of them towards the music of the 60s/70s that changed their lives and shaped who they are.
The pick of destiny is such a brilliant movie, this song really sets up the story brilliantly and who better to start it than three great styles of singing in Jack Black, Dio and Meat Loaf.
I transferred colleges in 2007 and didn’t know many people yet, and I watched this movie in my room LOVING it….about a hundred times. I made a bunch of friends and made them watch, too. 😆
The storyline itself mirrors Meat Loaf's early life, where he fled his home in TX after his mother died and his father became even more psychotically abusive. He went to LA, trying to get acting work, and even had a brush with Charles Manson!
Fun Fact: For this film, production actually travelled back in time so they could cast young Jack Black as Young Jack Black just to add to the film's unprecedented realism.
Jack Black is a sort of modern day bard in his ability to convey a story through song. He's definitely the kind of guy you imagine singing you into battle.
The Master Exploder scene also has a cute reference to the story about Dio's voice being too much for the studio mic, when JB sets the microphone on fire with his voice :D
I mean the man arguably invented delivering lines in a metal kind, way back with rainbow. When Sabbath were still bluesing around with Ozzy, Dio was fucking telling us about fucking wizards building towers and shit. When I think metal ass diction I hear Dio in my head.
@@ithembaDior’s voice definitely invented that style of metal voice. But I much prefer growls and snarls instead of singing and I also ozzy’s Black Sabbath. When dio joined it just became boring to me
There is a videoclip going around with JB watching Dio at the studio when he was recording his part. You can see JB's brain explode when he understands the level of Dio's excellence in person... You can feel the goosebumps through everybody present during that moment...
You can watch it here... watch?v=G4YgA0mSF0Q I love it JB's face on the 2nd verse and how Dio asks "Another one?" at the end and everyone's like "no!!!"
As a film, The Pick of Destiny has no right being as freaking good as it actually is. It is steeped in rock folklore and inside jokes, their attention to detail with the bits of History they divulge among the whispered inner secrets of legendary guitar players and how they achieved said Mastery... It's really a good time. I bet you will enjoy it very very much.
@@dunndudebemelol because it never tried to be anything more than what it really was, it's not pretentious or trying to be a masterpiece. Sure it's silly and over the top. But it's a sincere homage to rock and music and they genuinely had a blast making it. And that passion for music and fun comes across to the viewers. that's what made it brilliant
I have no idea how known this fact is, but: "Dio" literally means "God" in Italian. As an Italian, the moment when the father tells him to praise the Lord and he praises Dio instead kills me every time
Not only that, but to replicate, at least on Dio's side, his style SO WELL, it takes a lot of talent. There's very high levels of skill and talent in this song alone
When I saw Tenacious D live, they played a solid 2.5 hours or so straight through (Both the first album and the Pick of Destiny in their entirety), and his voice didn't start to show any strain until the very last song. It was honestly an absolutely phenomenal show.
Because nothing he does is hard. Lmao. Notice vocalists who sing hard stuff sometimes have a hard time. It’s almost like there a correlation. Mind blowing.
@@bradcallahan3546 Nothing he does is hard? Please tell me you’re joking. If it’s not hard, I’d like to see you replicate his voice and a straight 2.5 hour performance since you make it sound so easy :)
@@Isabelluuhhh for people like Dio or jack or meat loaf who have raw talent it's not hard is what he is saying. It's as easy as breathing or walking for them. It may have been hard at some point when they started but this late in Thier career it's like breathing to them.

It's pretty incredible, but. Meat Loaf had been performing on and off Broadway for years and had such experience. That and his acting talent is just utter gold. That coupled with Dio, it's just unforgettable. I watched this video another 3 times after filming it.
@@TheCharismaticVoice Must react to the video for "I Would Do Anything For Love", great song and such a theatrical performance! Kind of a Beauty and the Beast thing. Love your channel and all of your authentic reactions to these great singers. ruclips.net/video/9X_ViIPA-Gc/видео.html
The problem with JB is the same problem Bo Burnham, Psychostick, and related artists, is that people don't look at them with nearly as much respect as they should because they are also comedy musicians. But that makes it MORE impressive, because these are all incredibly talented artists
I only discovered Psychostick about a year ago. NSFW still makes me laugh. But I can't believe that they don't have more exposure, their songs are on the same level as non-comedy bands.
One little detail i've always loved is that Meatloaf's section ends up really mirroring Young JB's in the rhythm. To me it's always represented a sort of...truth that the characters are more alike than either would like to admit. And reflecting some of rock's beginnings in gospel music.
The movie is great. It reminds me of when my daughter was 4-8 years old. We’d watch it dozens of time, and sing every song in the movie together. She’s 18 now and when she was looking at colleges I get a random photo because she passed through the town of Kickapooo. And we’ll send each other “Dude I Totally Miss You” still to this day. It was such and incredible daddy/daughter bonding moment that has stuck with us through the ages.
My dad watched this movie with me all the time when I was really young and we would both listen to "Dude I Totally Miss You" while he was overseas. Of course my mom never let me have the songs on my mp3 player though lol
As a Russian teenager back in 2008 I stumbled upon this movie, it was fully in English, and I couldn't understand anything, but music just kept me thrilled, later I started translating all of the songs, and now I can freely speak. My grammar is still bad, but hey, I did my my best, Tenacious D is one of my favorite bands, you should Definitely see the movie. RUclips algorithm finally showed me something good subbing and ringing a 🔔

He sang into my face three years ago, and I can say, those pipes are real. This man would probably be considered one of the greatest rock vocalists of our time, if people wouldn't just see the clown.
Fun fact: the kid who played Young JB was so good at being Jack Black that they cast him as Young Ignacio in Nacho Libre a few years later Also: just subscribed! ROCK ON 🤘
Nacho Libre and Pick of Destiny came out the same year. I wouldn’t be surprised if they grabbed him for one based on the other but the timeline is a little different.
This was Meatloaf’s first time singing in a movie since RHPS. He was a powerhouse. And that kid…I’m not completely convinced they didn’t invent time travel to grab Jack Black as a child cause that’s him. No doubt.
I just can't stop smiling at how adorable it is to watch a professional opera singer totally fangirling (probably not a word) over JB. It makes the dumpster fire that the world is at the moment feel like a much nicer place 😊 also just fyi the kid playing the young JB also played his younger self in Nacho libre
"We need to take a moment to appreciate Jack Blacks' voice" you said it! I feel he is underrated because comedy in music isnt taken seriously. I wish he did MORE with his gift. Love me some TD.
i keep telling people that if he tried making not comedy music he would be a legend, but he carved his own legend anyway. look at some of his impromptu singing, he joins a street performer and just jams with him
Fun fact after Dio nailed his verse in the first take. He immediately ask if he could go again, he lived the flow of the lyrics. He got so sad when he was told no. There's a video of it.
@@BuriTechVids YES! This was exactly what I was referring to. It looks like there's actually one of the technicians that faints to the awesomeness of Dio's powerful voice.
First, Jack Black is severely underrated. Second, that little boy is killing it, he's funny and looks just like I imagine Jack Black would. Finally, RIP Meatloaf. 🌹
I definitely grew up with the "Rock is not the devil's work, it's magical and rad" mindset. My dad's favorite bands were Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top, Tom Petty, Lynyrd Skynyrd. He always encouraged me to turn the volume up and I still love those moments with him.
If anyone didn't know, Dio literally walked into the studio, did one single take, and Jack Black was like, that's actually perfect. And that's what we're hearing lol
@@drewhanna28 nahh its a true fact. the story is he walked in, barely tried to do his thing and the mic was quickly blown out, then he used the mic he brought from home to do the one and only recording
The thing that I've always really liked about Meatloaf's part in this movie, is often Meatloaf's most popular songs are about the drama and freedom of being a teenager, but this time he is on the opposite side as a restrictive and high-strung parent while maintaining that same Steinman-esque style.
According to Jack Black DIO brought his own mic to record his part of this song and the engineers wanted to use their top of the line mics they used 3 different 1s and DIO's voice was so powerful he overpowered them with the levels turned all the way down and DIO said that's why he brought his own mic
You have no idea how happy this makes me. Jack Black is my absolute hero. Not to mention Meafload and Dio, themselves being absolute legends on their own. Please do more Tenacious D. I think you'll find a lot of merit within the silliness. Jack Black is an excellent vocalist and I highly, HIGHLY recommend checking out his vocal work in his feature film Bernie (which I also believe it to be his best onscreen performance). He's not just a funny guy. He's VERY talented. Also School of Rock.
Dio already had Stomach Cancer at this time. Yet his voice never weakened. He loved doing what he did so much, that he toured while incredibly ill with stomach cancer. Dio's Passion is something that couldn't be weighed.
I just realized that Dio's line "through the valley you must walk" could actually be the San Fernando Valley just north of Hollywood. Except JB ends up getting to Hollywood from the opposite side.
Toward the end of Dio's verse, when he sings "You will face your inner demons" a flash of Murray's eyes appears behind him. Murray is the demon-mascot for Dio's band that appeared on several of his album covers. RIP Meat Loaf. I recall one interview I saw of his where he was talking about auditioning for Rocky Horror. They told him that the song is really fast so just try to get all the words in as best you can; everybody else had just been sliding the lyrics together in audition. Meat listens to it and says to himself Well I can do this! Then he sings it clear as day like it was nothing and gets the part.
My voice isn't as grand as Meat Loaf's, but I can sing "Whatever Happened to Saturday Night" a bit faster than he could. Not bragging. Just thought I'd mention it.
I have no idea why but when Dio starts to sign in this song on a tear comes to my eyes. And now that Meatloaf is gone I will cherish this song even more. The combination of these three voices made for an epic song. I don't think we will see something like this ever again. Glad you watched and enjoyed this. The movie is awesome and there are some great performances and cameos throughout.
Your positivity and joy when analysing all these awesome bands I grew up with like Tenacious D, SOAD, Iron Maiden, Metallica etc is so contagious. You are by far one of my favourite channels to watch!
Not only does this song have 3 amazing singers, Tenacious D also has one of the world's greatest studio drummers. Dave Grohl has done all drums on their studio recordings!
I have fallen in love with this woman’s passion for music and the way she feels and expresses her emotional ride throughout all the songs she shared with us. Absolutely infectious.
Don’t know if it’s mentioned anywhere else, but this is the first movie since Rocky Horror that Meatloaf sang in. He wanted to be appreciated as an actor in films. Not just a singer.
Your expression when Dio starts singing is invaluable! And is because, that's how I reacted the first time I saw this almost 12 years ago. Just brilliant
"But to learn the ancient method, sacred doors you most unlock." Yes, a rock/metal singer can learn a lot from Dio, and Dio learned from greats like Enrico Caruso, Mario Lanza, and Ray Charles.
YES!, Not only some Meatloaf and Jack Black, but Dio! In one of his last performances at that! I'm so glad you are finally getting to this one! I'll chalk this one up as another win for my suggestions :).
I think "Master Exploder" really shows off how incredibly talented Jack Black is and what a damn legend he could've been if he took himself seriously. I am eternally grateful for Tenacious D, but really they could have been one of the all time greatest bands if they wanted to.
I nursed him years ago after a heart ablation. Super nice and down to earth. Really liked him. I was working with a Philippino nurse that day. He asked he if she knew who he was, as the nurses were talking about him in our station. She said “ No , I don’t know who you are “ He just laughed and thought it was funny. Cool guy.
For the “rock is not the devil’s work” line. When it comes to metal or rock music generally I think it’s that situation where people confuse subject matter for message. Lots of classic metal is about evil or references the devil or drugs. People assume therefore - partly because of the clothes, partly the marketing push from record labels as bands got big - that they are glorifying the these things. But most of the time lyrically it’s an expression of truth, it’s about how other people will pay for their true evil deeds (like War Pigs) or how drugs are destructive (Master of Puppets). A song being about something doesn’t mean it’s praising it.
@@rodrigoodonsalcedocisneros9266 Even then, some Gangster Rap talks about the issues with being a so called Gangster, the pressure and such. A lot of them rap about money and girls, but not all.
To be fair, there are certainly Satanic bands and even whole genres kind of devoted to the defamation of Christ. Some of it is for shock value, some of it is legitimately "devil worshipping" music, by definition. It doesn't make the music necessarily good or evil, as that depends on perspective. I tend to identify as an atheist, so the idea of worshipping a god seems like fantasy to me and the idea of worshipping Satan is even sillier, so the association with music and the devil doesn't really bother me...
@@rodrigoodonsalcedocisneros9266 Gangsta Rap is not just praising gangster life. Sometimes they rap about how cops discriminated them just because they were black, about politicians who ignored minorities while pandering to white people and about the realities of lower class life. Sometimes Gangsta Rap can also be positive like Will Smith rapping against drug use and Tupac rapping about personal tragedies and warning his fans to not do the same mistakes.
Meat Loaf's voice gives me chills as soon as he starts! In regards to his enunciation, I've heard that when he auditioned for the Rocky Horror Picture Show, he was the only singer who never missed a word in the whole song.
I heard he already had the part and when he was handed the music he was told he didn't have to get every word because nobody else had. He took one look at it and said something to the effect of "I don't see why it would be a problem" then proceeded to nail it.
I like how the music changed with each musician, to their own music styles. When Meatloaf was singing, I felt like I was watching Rocky Horror Picture Show 🤣
I'm so happy to finally see someone else really appreciate the great voice of Jack Black! I honestly think he's one of the most underrated singers out there. There is absolutely nothing this man can't do with his voice. But sadly I think, because of the comedic approach he has to everything he does, his talent never really gets taken seriously.
Honestly yeah, Jack Black is so associated with comedy (and to be fair, he does use it in his music too) that people don't talk enough about the fact that he actually has a really good range!
Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman (who never gets enough credit) were some of the greatest story-tellers in music. They each had some success on their own, but there was probably no one better when they worked together. Now that they are both gone (9 months apart, which tragically, Meat Loaf expected), I cannot think of anyone who can tell stories the way they did, that lives successfully across different eras and genres. "Heaven Can Wait" certainly hits harder.
Meatloaf and Steinman need a biopic starring Jack and Kyle. Meatloaf actually wanted Jack to star in 2000's Meat Loaf: To Hell and Back on VH1 but scheduling conflicts got in the way!
I always wonder what could’ve been if Steinman hadn’t assumed he could do it without Meatloaf. He’s an alright singer but he’s a better songwriter. Without Meatloaf (or others eg Bonnie Tyler) interpreting his songs I find ones where he’s the lead vocalist fall flat
As someone who studied voice, the classical community can often come across as very stuffy. I love the way you are not like that at all, even though you are an incredible opera Singer (Ive watched your videos) Your genuine enjoyment and laughter at this speaks volumes as to the person you are. I'm a bigger fan after this video than I was before.
Agreed. I already loved her, but when she burst into laughter at the “he can suck a c**k” line, it reached a whole other level. She’s a fantastic reactor and seems to be a genuinely lovely human being.
I had a preconceived opinion about him when I was about 15, I had recently moved from my mums suburban home to my dads more rural setting, the older brother of a kid I went to school with was in his early 20's and always had Meatloaf playing in his car, ( this particular time it was paradise by the dashboard light ) I was like "dude, why you always listen to this g-y shit?" ( I was into metal and gangsta rap at the time ) when questioned I confessed I'd never listened to the song properly, all I knew is that I would never deliberately list to Meatloaf, he explained the song and the baseball analogy, 30 years later, Bat out of Hell is still one of my favourite albums..
@@lunch2102 Im not gonna lie, Im still a heavy metal fan! Type 0 negative, Machine Head, Dio, but Meatloaf has always had a special place in my heart. Yes, my peers also thought he was fruity, but I didnt give a damn 😆. For me, it's the memories of the wind in my hair under a hot Texas sun, my mother driving her mustang while singing to his music. She passed when I was young and it helps me remember the good times we had.
Really happy to see you covering Tenacious D. My dad and I have been musicians our whole lives, and we both always bring up Jack Black and Kyle Gas as underappreciated for their skill just because they're comedic. Similar to how Weird Al Yankovich is extremely talented but largely gets ignored because he's a parody artist.
I think it’s really telling of Tenacious Ds musicianship to produce a song that encapsulates the classic sounds of both Meatloaf and Dio and then make it their own all in one song.

I was introduced to you by a friend through one of her Facebooks posts (she like you, is also a Dio fan). I am not a vocalist but your enthusiasm and sheer positivity of artists you analyze helped me to appreciate the craft of singing. You are freaking awesome. Thank you!
I grew up in the 80's with Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Meatloaf, Dio, Van Halen, White Snake, Slayer, etc. Rock/Heavy Metal was considered devil's music, which is probably what appealed to me during my rebellion years. But man did I fall in love with it. So many classics that bring back memories and emotions.
Fun fact about this one as well. Dio nailed his part in one take! They had a special features where they showed him in studio and he crushed it like the legend he is!
That vocal affectation Meatloaf is doing at the end of phrases is actually something that a lot of Southern Baptist and Evangelical preachers are known to do for emphasis during sermons.

There's a video on YT of Dio recording his part and at one point one of the guys listening drops to the floor haha which is obviously the appropriate reaction. SO COOL Surely a dream for the guys!
He's just a man. Nothing more, nothing less.
Bruh imagine getting pumped for a day of recording with dio, just for him to wrap it up in a quick 10 minute set.
"I think we just need to take a moment to appreciate Jack Black's voice." - Truer words were never spoken.

It’s so weird watching MeatLoaf essentially portrait his own father in this movie. Very smart casting choice.
Jack Black had always wanted Meat Loaf to play as his dad everytime. He told Meat Loaf about it over & over.
RIP Loaf
I hope it was cathartic for him.
I knew that was him ❤️😆
The storyline itself mirrors Meat Loaf's early life, where he fled his home in TX after his mother died and his father became even more psychotically abusive. He went to LA, trying to get acting work, and even had a brush with Charles Manson!
Fun Fact: For this film, production actually travelled back in time so they could cast young Jack Black as Young Jack Black just to add to the film's unprecedented realism.

That’s to me what sets him so far apart from every other rocker.
The problem with JB is the same problem Bo Burnham, Psychostick, and related artists, is that people don't look at them with nearly as much respect as they should because they are also comedy musicians. But that makes it MORE impressive, because these are all incredibly talented artists
not just them, Tim Minchin as well. and the dude managed to get nominated for a handful of tonys as well for 2 incredibly successfull plays.
in my opinion it is way more impressive that the songs they make can make you laugh smile and be amazed at the vocal talent they are true bards
I only discovered Psychostick about a year ago. NSFW still makes me laugh. But I can't believe that they don't have more exposure, their songs are on the same level as non-comedy bands.
Don’t forget Stephen Lynch. Amazing voice control and his stage presence and facial expressions are top notch in the comedy music game.
The Italian Band Nanowar of Steel. Amazing Musicians.
One little detail i've always loved is that Meatloaf's section ends up really mirroring Young JB's in the rhythm. To me it's always represented a sort of...truth that the characters are more alike than either would like to admit. And reflecting some of rock's beginnings in gospel music.

I get teary eyed when he says "Now go, my son, and rock!"
Unless it's gangsta rap....

@ J J Yes, like Iron Maiden's Number Of The Beast
Fun fact: The bat Meatloaf knocks down is from his “Bat Out of Hell” Album
Because they originally had a meatloaf bat out of hell poster for him to rip down but he wouldn't so the bat was a compromise.

That kid deserves an actual Award for beeing a literal tiny JB.... great Job little man
Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman (who never gets enough credit) were some of the greatest story-tellers in music.
This, we need a reaction to Heaven can wait.
13:06 Fun fact, Dio did his song lines just one time. He wasnt in any hurry, he just did it legitimaly good.
I grew up obsessed with Meatloaf, even have his biography hand signed by him. I'm so sad of his passing.
You know he's alive tho, right?
@@ArthurNen meatloaf is dead mate..
@@ArthurNen He passed in January of this year, unless you're speaking euphemistically, in which case, he's forever alive in my heart and memories.
I love how the kid is nailing Jack Black as a kid! I totally believe that it's him!
I think it’s really telling of Tenacious Ds musicianship to produce a song that encapsulates the classic sounds of both Meatloaf and Dio and then make it their own all in one song.
The Pick of Destiny is so good. I fell in love with Jack Black’s comedy and singing in The School of Rock. The Pick of Destiny is his epic with fantastic songs and vocal performances! Check out Beelzeboss (The Final Showdown) from the film as well! Dave Grohl is Satan… and it’s FANTASTIC!
Elizabeth starting: I sing opera and classical
2022: wearing a spike belt and laughing hysterically.
The glo up is real y’all 👏
I LOVE YOUUUUUUU, your so freakin awsome, make me smile always, thank you so SOoo much, -soft hugs-
Awesome!!! Watched this movie many, many times and it still brings tears of laughter to my eyes. Awesome to see both Jack Black, Dio, and Meat Loaf all together on the screen. You will enjoy this little riff. :) Reminder is set to on!
I was introduced to you by a friend through one of her Facebooks posts (she like you, is also a Dio fan). I am not a vocalist but your enthusiasm and sheer positivity of artists you analyze helped me to appreciate the craft of singing. You are freaking awesome. Thank you!
Ive always felt the "D" always shared the spirit of Jethro Tull's songwriting style and vocalazation ...just mental but awesome to hear
Wow. It's almost like you didn't even watch the video
@Schwanzmajor I think people mean that Dio did only 1 take for each part of the song, but not 1 straight take.
That vocal affectation Meatloaf is doing at the end of phrases is actually something that a lot of Southern Baptist and Evangelical preachers are known to do for emphasis during sermons.
I have never heard of this woman before. I really enjoy how she describes everything, and gives explanation of what she sees. She is so cool. Good job ma'am, thank you for it all.
The fun you're having with this one is awesome!!! The smile on your face, your laugh that kicks ass!! What an awesome reaction!! One of THE best reaction videos I've ever seen for your sheer naturalness & keeping it real & hell yeah, SABBATH RULE!!!! The joy you so obviously had doing this is our joy to watch. Thank you for sharing!
Just saw Elizabeth sing opera for the fist time. Not my kind of music but have to say really impressive. I had no idea.
Thank you!
@@TheCharismaticVoice This movie is highly The Who's Opera Rock influencied, such that it's got many references on them. It plays "Won't get fooled again" at its climax. Roger Daltrey is great singer to be analysed as well.
I agree, Elizabeth is awesome! I started really appreciating Opera more once I got into old Nightwish years ago, and so many metal singers(especially female) mention how influenced they are by Opera..........
Jack Black is a genius. A trait he inherited from his mom, who was aerospace engineer who helped save the apollo space program, worked at and helped design the science ground station for the Hubble Space Telescope as well as the the Tracking and Data Relay Satellite.
Can you imagine being a literal rocket surgeon and your kid goes "I'm gonna be a musician" and you say "you go rock the world jacky!"
He also has a movie where he is a music teacher called School of Rock you should check out. That part was made for him and it's a great movie all-round.
He's not a music teacher, he's a substitute teacher taking the place of his friend/roommate who was supposed to go and he ended up teaching them and he found out they are good musicians and made a band with the whole class. Not that he was a "Music teacher" critically acclaimed film over 10 years old and still can't get the synopsis right.
@@ChaosArchives667 Thanks for explaining the movie that I remember and have seen many times. I didn't want to go into great detail or be specific because of plot points, but here you are being all self righteous. He is NOT a substitute teacher either bud, he POSES as one but he isn't licensed... which plays into the plot later... Thanks for educating me on a movie I already know and coming off in an arrogant manner. :)
@@ChaosArchives667 You seem fun.
I love that while they are not connected, School of Rock could 100% be a Pick of Destiny sequel
School of rock is a great movie and music. Yes
I grew up with Ronnie James Dio through my dad, he was almost my first concert ever. He is and always be my favourite singer, especially being a smaller guy myself like Dio it gives me hope that even tho I might be small, my voice can have great impact.
Rest In Peace Ronnie James Dio
Can we take a moment to appreciate the awesome acting of Troy Gentle, the (then) child actor playing young Jack Black.
He can always admit to playing with three legends.
Oh shit, it’s Barry!
i actually personally thought the kid detracted from it... his face is doing too much and doesn't lip synch well. Love the D and this is probably my favorite D song, but not a fan of the kids acting.
@@fingfangfoom2399 I'm pretty sure he tried to do the typical Jack Black faces and I believe he had to sing with different lyrics without swear words. It's okay if you don't like the kid's acting but that doesn't mean he was bad at it. He had confidence, he had talent, what he lacked was 20 years of experience.
@@starlighter93 I didn't say he was bad at it, they certainly picked the perfect kid for looking like a young jaybulls, but... the synching was definitely off and the mannerisms didn't match the words, intent or emotions in several spots and frankly, kid or not, that just breaks the suspension of disbelief which detracts from the overall effort. It's a small gripe... I love PIck of Destiny, I love Kickapoo, I love Tenacious D... and the kid added many great things to it as well... but i wouldn't characterize the acting as "great" as the OP said, even for that age. I know i can't be the only one who felt many of the moments with the kid felt disjointed and amateurish.
I'm not slamming the (then) kid, he didn't ruin the video... but the OP asked us to take a moment to appreciate the "great" acting of the kid as if it was the highlight of the entire video. In my honest opinion he was the lowlight, even if the lowlight was still pretty entertaining... the highlight is CLEARLY Dio.
You had me hooked at "I love Dio" ...
It makes me happy seeing how much you love his voice.
He really is on my tippy top list of vocalists now.
@@TheCharismaticVoice As well he should be. :)
@@TheCharismaticVoice If you liked Dio and Jack Black together, you may like the little video of them in Dio's 'Push' song/music video.
watching this brought tears to my eyes.
I love Tenacious D and I lost my shit when I saw meatloaf in the movie.
This whole song is amazing in so many ways. I'm glad to see others appreciate it!!!!
That man will be truly missed.
loved the commentary too. :)
You rock!
Wow, you are so fun to watch. You make my cold heart warm again with your genuine love of music and tenacious d! You're awesome! The channel name is right on point.
