Nick, I didn't know the alcantara wing was available. I need to get that for my Corolla. Merry Xmas! Thanks for your channel.
That would be one SWEET Corolla
Raymondo Wilson those wheels are really sick,
Adds 5 hp minimum
Watching this video years later & lost it when that bubble came up
What I want to see is a tuned base model against a stock S
base will probably win
I do have a base 2017 and just did a tune with a COBB accessport. Otherwise stock and the car feels ridiculously faster. Hard to describe. Cannot wait for them to come up with the same for the 992 so I can get a new base Carrera 992!
@@dgasmd1 Have you had any issues w/ the Cobb tune? I am leaning towards APR but haven't decided what company to go with for my 17 Base 7spd
@@phillipberk5767 definitely
I had a GIAC tune on my mkiv Gti and it was a night and day difference. 50hp and 50tq for only 600 dollars. GIAC makes some of the most reliable tunes out there.
That howling flat six is intoxicating....
Cheap HP in Porsche money. The sound is the only thing missing in the turbo cars, but can't have everything. Love that color...
Hi Nick! Happy holidays! We got our 06 Boxster S tuned years ago and it was amazing the difference even for a NA car. Optimize for an exhaust and even better. Porsche has so many restrictions from the factory you really do get a bit of lowest common denominator action. I bet that was fun! F
what tune did you put on that car?
@@ZZSTOP22 Evolution Motorsports out of AZ. They were having a special at a detailer here in CO.
Nick, William looks a little depressed....he probably just needs a bit more sunshine in his day. lol...... Hey in all seriousness I hope you have a wonderful holiday and a very Merry Christmas. Enjoy all your family coming to visit in your beautiful home. Thanks for all the fun and good humor (and learning a thing or two about cars) that you gave us in 2017. Cheers to a glorious 2018.
Great Video Nick! I’d love to see a GIAC Tuned 991.2 base 911 vs. a stock 991.2 911S.
Tim Kenney yes that would be great. Nick what tune is this and can you do a base tune vs stock S 911.2?
Great video Nick. These cars definitely need to be unlocked. I suffer from horsepower inferiority complex (H.I.C.) after paying over $100g for a car that wont keep up with a new Mustang GT. I have a 991.2 C2 manual that I’m planning to upgrade with Cobb’s off the shelf map and maybe upgrade the intercooler once my warranty is up. GIAC’s bench flashing sounds like a pain as you are carless for a couple of days waiting for them to ship back your ECU. Cobb has a plug and play platform through an OBD II port and sounds user friendly. You should definitely tune your car as there’s an uninstall feature. Also can you do a comparison video between the Carrera and Carrera S and go over the value proposition for road use and occasional track. With these new ECU tunes coming out, it makes it harder to choose an S unless you desperately need PTV, 6piston brakes, rear wheel steering. I agree with your stance on the GTS. Thx
Tuned C2S - Widowmaker is Back
There is no way Porsche UK would allow a customer to tune their carrera without it affecting warranties.. shame.. Great video though!! Hope you have good Christmas and all the best for 2018! Cowan
6:06 The Turbo now has 540hp not 520hp , i only watch Nick videos to catch a mistake or 2 ;)
luimarco 540hp is their claim. It's at least 50hp higher than they say
Yeah Porsche generally unrates their cars.
luimarco LMAO 🤣
Porsche sells their cars all over the world and some regions have strange conditions like extreme heat or high altitude which affects the performance. The Porsche claims respect this and people in flat regions with moderate weather get the optimal performance which is often above the official claim.
the 991.1 is 520, the 991.2 is 540
So how is the tuned C4S holding up (maintenance and issues wise) compared to the stock C4S after five years?
Thinking about doing work to my 991.2 C4S after the warranty expires.
Nick you gotta tune yours
He won't
I wouldn't touch a tune on a car that is still under any kind of warranty for obvious reasons. Sure, some might say it "shouldn't be an issue" but tell that to the guy that blows his engine and now has a $40,000 bill to replace it and the dealer/regional service rep finds either the tune or data collected that indicates higher boost ranges only possible by the tune. I have seen this happen in the past with less expensive cars, and you better believe it would happen with a Porsche. Outside a warranty? I am all for the Tune!
hawkinsrod .....This ^^^^^
True, but some people have tons of money, so they don't care. The odds of your engine blowing, with a reasonable tune, is low. I'd probably chance it. Porsche sells an optional power kit for these cars which includes larger turbos, sports exhaust, and a tune. The engine is built for it.
@@OMGWTFLOLSMH which kit?
So when it’s out of warranty and if the engines blow up you still going have to pay to rebuild the engine. Why not tuned it now , either way.
Love that graphite blue metallic!
...but Nick, your a major gearhead, so you NEED that tune and now that you just helped to sell thousands of them yours should be FREE🤔
Merry Christmas 🎄
Even if its not free, he should treat himself for Christmas!!
Rob Walker ...ABSOLUTELY👍
He said he doesn’t really care about the power though. In past videos he said the base 911 engine has enough power for him anyways since it’s more usable on the streets.
He won't
A tuned 4S vs the turbo please! Great vid!
Happy Christmas everyone! Nick, look for that Turbo and compare it to Mike’s C4S. Then you can decide if you want to chiptune your car. Not that there are reasons not to do it, since you have a manual gear and even as a stock car it’s difficult to compare it to others since nearly all Americans buy the PDK versions. If you decide to do it, let your dealership install the new chip. I did that with my Audi, and that way at least you’ll keep the guarantees on the car valid. Thx for the vid, like always! Cheers, Irwin
Have an '04 Mini Cooper S JCW bought new. Love it, have no intention (or ability) to get a Porsche. Last had a couple in LA in another life. But I really enjoy your posts. So joyful, which is the whole point of driving, whatever you drive. Mahalo!
Hey Nick, do a video on the next generation 911. Yea baby!
A Nick Murray video for Christmas! Thanks! Merry Christmas .
Awesome video Nick...and an impressive improvement...wow! Yet I'm not 100 percent convinced Porsche NA will cover an engine issue that has had its pcm tuned ..I'd recommend waiting until after warranty is no longer a concern to owners..80 hp and 100lb ft of tq for two grand mit be too tempting to not say good bye to the warranty! Merry Christmas Santa came a day early
Amazing - and makes it even better to know you can buy the lower model than the Turbo and have the OPTION to go up in power to match it.
That's the great thing about turbo motors, such a large increase in performance is great bang for buck compared to tuning an NA motor. These 991s will be monsters once they get a little older and aftermarket support increases.
I like that this gets you close to turbo power but lets you keep the stick that I wish where still an option on the turbo!
Very tempting indeed! Thanks and Merry Christmas Nick!
Aahh - that sound after 6:43 is the best of the entire video :-)
That color, sunroof delete, nice wheels...winner!!!
It will invalidate your warranty if you do this. He says the guys at his dealer don’t have a problem but if your engine gives out then I’m sure the tune will be used to inform you they’re not picking up the tab for the replacement.
Merry Christmas Nick! 🌲Enjoyed the video. Entertaining as always!
AWSOME! Take a great car and make more. Even seems to sound better. Merry Christmas and Dilly! Dilly!
Wow!! I had no idea that a simple tune could make that much of a difference
I just got a 2018 4s and consider a APR stage one. I still have 4 years of factory warranty/unlimited miles. Could you give any advise on have the tune and not void the factory warranty? Any tune friendly Porsche dealership you recommend? Thanks! Love your video!
I'd like to see this vs a Turbo
Hi Nick, could you do a carrera 4 vs carrera 4s comparison sometime soon? Thanks!
Merry Christmas Love ❤️ the channel
I love the color of your friend’s car.
The difference is massive and a great opportunity to tune once bored of the current power. Did the owner say how much of an increase in torque/power the uprated chip achieved?
DO IT. DO IT NOW!
Haha...Merry Christmas Nick! I've always been too chicken with my cars. I was always worried about warranty issues even though supposedly I was covered. Very ,very tempting though
Love your videos, Merry Christmas!
It's not always about the power. Keep yours stock Nick. You know if you wanted more power, you would have bought something other than the 4S.
Ladies and gentlemen, the Kiwi Charlie Brown.
When you want to show how much faster your car is than a 996, let me know. I can come down from Newtown to Fairfield or wherever you'd like to meet. Also have a tuned Audi S6 if you ever want to compare to a family sedan 😁
Nah there are risks that come with tuning. Dealerships won’t help you in case something goes wrong and I’m sure fuel economy is affected.
If Alpha Romeo can get 505hp out of its 2.9 liter V6 then this tune should be pretty safe.
Hey William, when are we going out for a beer?
If you have the opportunity it be great to see a Boxster tune against a stock Boxster
Does Nick like classical music? Or is it just out of copyright. I love classical music, and I love Nick too.
Surprising amount of snow in Mexico.
Merry Christmas Nick. What happens with warranty after this tune?
Awesome color combo on that tuned 4s :p
probably damages the clutch sooner though
I want to know what is the exact size of the wheels and tires of the 911 tuned and if I change something in the suspension.
Merry Christmas!
There is a reason why the turbo's aren't allowed to roam free from the factory, but I'm pretty sure the tuning company doesn't know or even cares about this. They'll sell you the tune, but when things break you'll be SOL. The 991.2 is fast in all trims...wanting it go faster is silly in my mind. Porsche is very conservative with their 0-60 numbers on this one. I think under 3.5 is quite realistic for a stock car. The previous generation sounded better, but was noticeably slower, especially off the line it had some hesitation.
Nick, I love your videos. Seems like our taste in Porsches is similar. I have a 88 s4 and a 17 C4gts. I actually just upgraded from a 16 C2 that I put a sharkworks tune on and I am really debating tuning my gts.
What tune was on the 991.2 that you were driving in this video?
Hi Nick, the colour of the tuned 911 looks great, is this graphite blue metallic? Merry Christmas to you and your family
need to see the tuned carrera against the turbo
I apologize if you stated it already in the video and I missed it, but would you mind sharing the company or brand of the tune? Very impressive!
$2000 is cheap? Sounds like Nick has already received his gift from Trumpy Claus!
that is astonishing. reminds me of when i tuned my audi s4. night and day. how does it impact warranty?
I live in Trumbull CT. I drive that stretch of road everyday. You mentioned the Porsche dealer doesn’t mind if you do a stage 1 tune. Do you happen to be talking about Fairfield Porsche?
PLEASE do the tuned car vs the 911 turbo
I wish you did a 0-60 pull
I'd like to get that light interior color, but the blue jeans must kill your seats.
Nice review. I was curious
Any Idea what kind of numbers a base Carrera puts out with the stage 1 tune? That would make deciding between a base Carrera and an S model very interesting.
Do you ever worry about posting drag racing on the street? We do not want to see Nick in cuffs. :)
The tuned car has a different ride height, camber, and may have wheels spacers.
Idk how you have the control to not tune your car. I squeeze every ounce of horsepower I can out of my m3, even though 9 months ago I swore I would only get an exhaust. My last mod was an ess 625 supercharger. That brought it to 554 rwhp and I’m still wanting more. Help I think I’m sick 😦
Maybe read some horror stories of what can go wrong. If you are wanting more than 550 whp in an M3 you are asking for troubel. No worries if you have money to play with, but if you don't don't be a fool and take it easier.
love the wheel spec on the tuned car - are those 21's all around?
1st comment and merry christmas nick
I bet even Santa Claus doesn’t know how to find New Zealand.
You void your warranty wants you tune you're vehicle. It's a gamble you take if you run into any engine issues.
Hello. I still can't understand what are the differences, besides the horse power, between the 911 Carrera S and 911 Carrela T. Can someone explain me please?
I'm not sure that it would compare to the Turbo. Not the 991.2 anyway. Will have to see some drag times to find out, more than anything.
Ok, I’ll pile on here. What performance company makes the tune used here? Merry Christmas Nick!
GIAC Tuned
What are the main problems that MIGHT happen with a stage 1 tune?
There aren't any except speeding tickets.
The new stock 991.2 are also turbo not the s the normal Carrera do you think they can be tuned as well ?
What is the actual tune?
How about the 911 2004 4s
That tune is amazing at the gains. I really wonder how it will affect reliability. That would be my main concern
Nick, what are those wheels?? They look great!
maine checking in!
I have a 370 hp 911t. Manual car what tune would you suggest for it? It’s a cpo car with warranty til 2024 I wonder if it would void warranty or at least certain components. ? I’ve been told even the base car 3.0 is same basic engine just smaller turbos. I’d like to get it up about 50-75 hp same with torque. What would you recommend?
It doesn't void the warranty? What about when its time to sell it. It does not decrease the value?
Tunes void warranty. He just meant some dealers, such as his local one, are lenient and will turn a blind eye for minor warranty work.
But when major problems occur and repairs will be costly, unlikely the dealer or manufacturer will pay for the warranty work and blame the tune for the issue.
yup, and for this reason, I would never get a tune, even though it looks like loads of fun.
Jim C Then you’ll miss out a lot of fun
TheMysteriousOne Nah, Nick said that the base 911 engine has enough power and is much more usable.
and what if a major repair is needed? Just pay out of pocket? Its prob well over 1k just to fix a window motor
Turbo comparison please Nick
What's the colour of the tuned 911? Graphite blue? And the wheels?
Very interesting video, if i tune my M4 will it make it sound better?
where did he get the tune, I'd rather pay $2k for a tune rather than $30k to upgrade to the turbo
What make are the rims on the tuned C4S...their beautiful
Hmmm if only it was a 2s manual
Nick, would an ECU tune like that invalidate your warranty?
Nick, can you explain the torque chart: what is the difference between grey and black? Manual vs. PDK?
the 3.0 T engine and the 3.8 NA (991.2 vs 911.2)
Environment pollution and CO2 restrictions is playing the bigger roll in term of HP power from factory
WOW these are near 911 turbo numbers
How much is the colour matched alcantara exhaust for this car?
80 hp from just a tune???? lol wow thats nuts.Deff worth 2 grand
Who tuned it?
GIAC Tuned
What wheels are on the modified Porsche? Merry Christmas all.
