- There was a time when the humble radio was a constant companion to many of us. Melodious songs with simple lyrics and great choruses being aired day-in and day-out filled our lives with pure joy.
It was the time when the legendary Carpenters gave us endless hits in the 1970s and the unusual and honey-like voice of Karen Carpenter resonated in our ears for hours ! When we were all young in the 70's, the Radio did it. Years later my wife Kay, who managed the "Fauji Bhai ' program, from AIR Leh, used to also do a half hour English program for the Forces. Most listeners of the request program were the IAF and us Army Aviation chopper jocks. The Carpenters were popular. Almost 15 years after it became a hit single.
