To prove this, I had to enclose a sheet music extract as evidence with my appeal. Of course, you don't get reimbursed for the effort, but I won't buy anything from them again.

I encountered a scam titled "Snoop Frogg (Kermit sings 'Gin & Juice')" that replicates a classic Muppets melody using an AI-generated voice resembling Kermit/Jim Henson. It asserts copyright like ownership or fan usage in some sort of Matlock text, similar to fine print at the end, which I didn't fully read, but I understand that Disney holds the rights to the Muppets' music and voices. However, it is still available on RUclips. If you prefer not to watch it, considering its transcript may be advisable; it contains NSFW language and derogatory references to pigs and drug use, in an altered clip of Kermit singing in the swamp, which is the movie scene modified for its own video.
I’m in my seventies, and started checking out RUclips seriously during Covid. I’m becoming convinced that social media really IS the death of Western civilization. Maybe I should go back to hardcover books and vinyl while they still exist. 😮

There are even darker rabbitholes. I once watched an animal rescue video, basicly a collection of a guy on a motorcycle, "saving" little cute kittens out of garbage cans in an asian area. Something seemed very off, so did a research. It looks like theres a whole industry producing that kind of content, even with hurting and starving poor animals on purpose, only for clicks. 😥

I used to teach music (varying aspects/instruments) to individual students. One thing I would ask each student was, "What makes you want to learn _______ (whichever instrument or vocals, etc.)?" Older students often described the way music made them feel and the joy they would get from listening to it. Almost every single student I had who was under 25 years old or so gave me the same reason why they wanted to learn to sing or play an instrument: they wanted to be famous. Needless to say, those ones always quit after a few lessons. They thought I would show them some magic trick that would enable them to be a virtuoso guitarist or singer (which I, myself certainly am not), and from there the fame and fortune would seek them out and deliver them to paradise. It's no wonder so much "new" music requires a roll of toilet paper handy to listen to.

There is a desperation in a generation of people who feel that if they aren't *famous* then they aren't anything at all. It's a real sickness in this world.
Music was real and soooooo much better during the 60s-80s. By in large, it went to crap in the mid 90s and has not recovered. With a few exceptions, today's music, yeeeccch! I miss my era so much. And not for selfish reasons.
Under what issue do you report them please? When Legal Issue is selected YT redirects to legal forms. It seems only the owner/original artists can report under copyright.

While not condoning this behaviour, unfortunately, in some countries, having a job doesn't necessariky give you enough income to survive. I know of young people who may be working 12 hours a day, seven days a week and still are not paid a living wage, and don't get their wage at all if the company is low on funds. There's no sick leave, no holiday pay, no health insurance. Thanks to social media, they see these super rich stars living a lavish lifestyle, so they try to cash in on that. Can you really blame them?
AI And chapgpt is ruining youtube - not just with the examples you highlight but the countless fake biographies and 'behind the scenes/making of' faux documentaries with bot voice overs and repetitive scripts that clearly were not written by a human

what shits me are the clickbait thumbnails and titles that pique your interest, but the video itself doesn't provide what you are led to expect. Then there are the AI generated voiceovers which are repetitive in terms of descriptors (ie a vid about beautiful actresses, calling each one "a stunning beauty" who has had "a tragic life" - along the way mispronouncing words and names, and numbers)
You are right. If they just plagiarized or failed to credit the creator, it would be a civil issue. But these crooks actually misappropriate revenue that belongs to someone else, and that is criminal fraud.
I'm glad you made this video. I have been screaming at people in the comments section of all those fake videos , for months. Everyone just seemed to ignore me. It is sooooo obvious they are fakes. The original artists should be the ones getting paid , not these criminal con-artists. I cannot believe RUclips has continued to let them get away with it , seeing as how they just love to suspend accounts for tiny infractions of copyright violations. One problem... Bobby was NOT the original artist... The song was written for a movie called "Unchained" in 1955... 10 years BEFORE Bobby made the ultimate version of the song... Right?? I've uploaded some videos of me playing covers of songs on guitar, and despite them being pretty mid covers AND the videos being set immediately to "private", I get hit with copyright claims. Yet these weird videos get millions of views. I truly don't understand how they do it.
In the roughest sense, they're like plagiarism. But those are rules for high school essays. This is COPYRIGHT infringement, which is a LEGAL issue. Much more serious. Even if he put his "references" at the bottom, he'd be in violation of copyright law. It's not about telling people who wrote or recorded the song. The point is, he has NO RIGHT to make and distribute a copy of it.

I have reported channels to YT in the past as spam or misleading when I realize that they are committing fraud. I started taking notice of who was the owner of the channel and won’t watch it as some are so similar to the original creator’s that it is no coincidence. Frauds will always find a new way to get around the guidelines while legitimate creators are demonetized for stating their opinions while others should be banned because of their illegal activities and continue. Thanks for bringing this to attention for viewers who are then aware of the scammers.

They use algorithms and ai to do things like blocking videos and banning channels based on stats. Indian scammers have mass reported (maybe 15 reports) low view scambait channels where YT takes down perfectly fine videos and have also made strikes against the channel. You Tube refuses to review the appeal. They don't care
LOL YT deleted my comment about how people can report low view videos out of spite, and they ban the videos/strike the channel, refusing to review an appeal on videos that are fine. It's all done by ai.

Welcome to the very large group of The Rejected. It only takes one word, and not even a swear word, which seems to get through with no problem. Sometimes, when I get a rejection notice, I go through to see what in the world the problem was, and it was a common word or idea they simply do not like. Sometimes I will dance around what I mean in order to avoid any possible rejection. But then I come off sounding like an idiot.

One of the problems I've noticed - particularly on Facebook - is whenever people try to point out some fakery, they get absolutely dog piled by comments of "it's not harming anyone", "let people enjoy things", "there's always a Karen spoiling everything", and "you must be fun at parties". That last one seems to be a particular favourite 🙄 I even saw someone IN THIS VIDEO'S COMMENT SECTION call another commenter a "Karen" for reporting these fakers. It has a domino effect of deterring people from calling things out or discussing why it's fake (because who wants to spend the next week being verbally abused by people with multiple profile picture frames?), and even worse - of normalising misinformation and misrepresentation. This particular brand of misinformation makes people feel nice, so that means it's ok. Don't be a Debbie Downer. /s People who were rightfully cynical might start getting worn down and either start missing the cues, or stop caring about reporting the small stuff because why bother? No one else seems to be bothered - in fact they get OFFENDED when it's called out. So maybe it's really not a big deal? And that's how it gets easier and easier to dupe and scam people, and to spread misinformation. Fraudsters just continue to make bank with little to no repercussion. This is one party I don't even want to be invited to, let alone to be "fun" at 🫠

Try commenting something critical about the country that starts with Is and ends with ael. You'll see how fast YT can find and shut down stuff it doesn't approve of.
This kind of thing also needs the attention of other types of content creators such as Muta from Some Ordinary Gamers. He does tech stuff along with exposing frauds. He's a fairly large channel with over three point eight million subscribers. If others like Muta gets involved will shed more light on the issue. I'm going to try to clue Muta in on this, and hopefully he'll pick it up and run with it.

He got one important thing wrong though: it really was Vanny Vabiola singing Power of Love in the dubbed clip, not Celine Dion. Both their versions are available on YT. I compared to his clip, and it is clearly from Vanny’s version.

Thanks Fil. This stuff drives me insane. I ran into this several months back. I had gone in to catch up on the singers of AGT and immediately I could tell it was fake. What really made me angry is that you and other legitimate creators are being blocked for copyright when you and the others are using them in a legitimate manner to educate the public, which is within fair use allowed by youtube. The worst part is youtube knows about this. I personally have reported these people time and time again, as I am sure others have, and youtube does nothing. I sometimes wonder if the government hasn't take over youtube, since it seems that if you are a scam artist you are able to make a profit, but if you actually take the time to make sure you follow the rules they do their best to destroy you. My sister doesnt allow her kids to watch YTKids channels anymore because the same thing is happening there. Barney the happy purple dinosaur is getting poked, his head cut off and his brains studied by those wierdos of 'parent uploads' and other insane media. Those videos are not healthy for children and giving a child a computer everyday isn't healthy either. It's safe to say that my nephew will not be getting a mobile phone or a computer until he is thirteen years or when he needs it for studying.

It does make one wonder if there isn't some kind of insider at YT who is putting a green light on these fraud channels, and blocking any protests by copyright holders.
Some legitimate content creators do the same thing because copyright strikes are pretty heavy-handed and lack nuance. It's not always a sign that a video is attempting anything shady, but if there's no effort to explain why, that's probably a warning sign to beware.

Worst thing is that they KNOW that they’re getting away with what they’re doing. I don’t care about their use of pitch correction nor auto tune but like you said, it’s mind boggling how many copyright laws they are breaking by claiming artists’ songs as their own, using music reality shows’ images without permission, and making false claims about their accomplishments. But what to do?....personally I dread the idea of AI performances popping up all over the place and you are right...spot on, most people can't tell the difference.
The comments to the fake videos must be fake too. A 77-year-old woman wrote that her father saying that Righteous Brothers song to her when she was a little girl. Problem is, when that song came out, she was about 20 years old.
The actual song was released in January, 1955 and the Righteous Brothers recorded it in 1965. If her father sang her the original version, that was 69 years ago making the woman in question around 8 yrs old. I not saying it's definitive but it's theoretical possible.
I've seen these videos and I could tell right away they're fake especially with the guy holding the kiddos. Scammers are everywhere. Great video Fil!!! ❤

Well done Fit. This is crazily fraudulent. When you know, the production values are just too good for a talent show. it also gives a completely unrealistic expectation to anyone who genuinely wants to learn how to be a solo vocalist. I hope they get sued to hell and back.
Unfortunately, Fil got part of the story wrong. I compared the short clip of Power of Love to Vanny’s version and Celine’s version… and it is definitely Vanny’s version that was dubbed in and not Celine’s (both are available on YT). I think when you see one fraud, like using the AGT background, it’s easy to think that the voice must be a fraud if it sounds too good. But it wasn’t. Vanny is a good singer. I hope Fil corrects this. The dude who made the fake video deserves criticism for that… but I think Vanny might be an innocent party here.

Go about 40 seconds into her version. It is the same as the clip. It is clearly different from the same section of Celine’s version. Don’t react emotionally and be lazy. Do research. Now whether Vanny goes through the correct legal steps when recording covers for her albums, I have no idea. But she is available on many music platforms. I am certainly interested in what Fil’s lawyer friend has to say. I encountered a scam titled "Snoop Frogg (Kermit sings 'Gin & Juice')" that replicates a classic Muppets melody using an AI-generated voice resembling Kermit/Jim Henson. It asserts copyright like ownership or fan usage in some sort of Matlock text, similar to fine print at the end, which I didn't fully read, but I understand that Disney holds the rights to the Muppets' music and voices. However, it is still available on RUclips. If you prefer not to watch it, considering its transcript may be advisable; it contains NSFW language and derogatory references to pigs and drug use, in an altered clip of Kermit singing in the swamp, which is the movie scene modified for its own video.

I used to teach music (varying aspects/instruments) to individual students. One thing I would ask each student was, "What makes you want to learn _______ (whichever instrument or vocals, etc.)?"
Older students often described the way music made them feel and the joy they would get from listening to it. Almost every single student I had who was under 25 years old or so gave me the same reason why they wanted to learn to sing or play an instrument: they wanted to be famous.
Needless to say, those ones always quit after a few lessons. They thought I would show them some magic trick that would enable them to be a virtuoso guitarist or singer (which I, myself certainly am not), and from there the fame and fortune would seek them out and deliver them to paradise.
It's no wonder so much "new" music requires a roll of toilet paper handy to listen to.

While not condoning this behaviour, unfortunately, in some countries, having a job doesn't necessariky give you enough income to survive. I know of young people who may be working 12 hours a day, seven days a week and still are not paid a living wage, and don't get their wage at all if the company is low on funds. There's no sick leave, no holiday pay, no health insurance. Thanks to social media, they see these super rich stars living a lavish lifestyle, so they try to cash in on that. Can you really blame them?

Then there are the AI generated voiceovers which are repetitive in terms of descriptors (ie a vid about beautiful actresses, calling each one "a stunning beauty" who has had "a tragic life" - along the way mispronouncing words and names, and numbers)

I'm glad you made this video. I have been screaming at people in the comments section of all those fake videos , for months. Everyone just seemed to ignore me. It is sooooo obvious they are fakes. The original artists should be the ones getting paid , not these criminal con-artists. I cannot believe RUclips has continued to let them get away with it , seeing as how they just love to suspend accounts for tiny infractions of copyright violations. I hope justice will eventually be served and this injustice will finally be rectified.

In the roughest sense, they're like plagiarism. But those are rules for high school essays. This is COPYRIGHT infringement, which is a LEGAL issue. Much more serious. Even if he put his "references" at the bottom, he'd be in violation of copyright law. It's not about telling people who wrote or recorded the song. The point is, he has NO RIGHT to make and distribute a copy of it.

I have reported channels to YT in the past as spam or misleading when I realize that they are committing fraud. I started taking notice of who was the owner of the channel and won’t watch it as some are so similar to the original creator’s that it is no coincidence. Frauds will always find a new way to get around the guidelines while legitimate creators are demonetized for stating their opinions while others should be banned because of their illegal activities and continue. When you listen to any popular music today it all sounds like it could have been created by AI whether it was or not, and the music consumers keep listening to it and they love it. Who really needs actual musical talent anymore? Sure it's still an interesting novelty but it is not going to enable someone to make a living in music. The music that sells today is all fake.

They use algorithms and ai to do things like blocking videos and banning channels based on stats. Indian scammers have mass reported (maybe 15 reports) low view scambait channels where YT takes down perfectly fine videos and have also made strikes against the channel. You Tube refuses to review the appeal. They don't care
There are actually tons of videos on routine on different topics that have the images turned around and they very away with it

I am getting increasingly disturbed by the people who run RUclips. I've had comments deleted, and my comments weren't even offensive.
Welcome to the very large group of The Rejected. It only takes one word, and not even a swear word, which seems to get through with no problem. Sometimes, when I get a rejection notice, I go through to see what in the world the problem was, and it was a common word or idea they simply do not like. Sometimes I will dance around what I mean in order to avoid any possible rejection. But then I come off sounding like an idiot.
Me too. I tried 9 versions of a response to a vid, all (I thought) totally innocuous). The 10th time, I just wrote "have a nice day." That got deleted too. 🙄🙄

As a former tv video engineer I see the greenbox at first glance 😅 there is so much fake nowadays, people lost the ability to see and hear 😢

One of the problems I've noticed - particularly on Facebook - is whenever people try to point out some fakery, they get absolutely dog piled by comments of "it's not harming anyone", "let people enjoy things", "there's always a Karen spoiling everything", and "you must be fun at parties". That last one seems to be a particular favourite 🙄 I even saw someone IN THIS VIDEO'S COMMENT SECTION call another commenter a "Karen" for reporting these fakers.
It has a domino effect of deterring people from calling things out or discussing why it's fake (because who wants to spend the next week being verbally abused by people with multiple profile picture frames?), and even worse - of normalising misinformation and misrepresentation. This particular brand of misinformation makes people feel nice, so that means it's ok. Don't be a Debbie Downer. /s
People who were rightfully cynical might start getting worn down and either start missing the cues, or stop caring about reporting the small stuff because why bother? No one else seems to be bothered - in fact they get OFFENDED when it's called out. So maybe it's really not a big deal?
And that's how it gets easier and easier to dupe and scam people, and to spread misinformation. Fraudsters just continue to make bank with little to no repercussion.
This is one party I don't even want to be invited to, let alone to be "fun" at 🫠

This kind of thing also needs the attention of other types of content creators such as Muta from Some Ordinary Gamers. He does tech stuff along with exposing frauds. He's a fairly large channel with over three point eight million subscribers. If others like Muta gets involved will shed more light on the issue. I'm going to try to clue Muta in on this, and hopefully he'll pick it up and run with it.

He got one important thing wrong though: it really was Vanny Vabiola singing Power of Love in the dubbed clip, not Celine Dion. Both their versions are available on YT. I compared to his clip, and it is clearly from Vanny’s version.

Thanks Fil. This stuff drives me insane. I ran into this several months back. I had gone in to catch up on the singers of AGT and immediately I could tell it was fake. What really made me angry is that you and other legitimate creators are being blocked for copyright when you and the others are using them in a legitimate manner to educate the public, which is within fair use allowed by youtube. The worst part is youtube knows about this. I personally have reported these people time and time again, as I am sure others have, and youtube does nothing. I sometimes wonder if the government hasn't take over youtube, since it seems that if you are a scam artist you are able to make a profit, but if you actually take the time to make sure you follow the rules they do their best to destroy you. Reminds me of backward day in school when I was a kid. “In a world which really is topsy-turvy, the true is a moment of the false.” As always Fil fantastic review and thanks for revealing these people that are making money with their only talent being video editing. (Which honestly if you pay close attention you can tell its fake)
@colleenmelton6735 Same here, I have reported violantions of 25+ channels since I learned about these fraudulent people. It's beyond illegal and insane that YT does absolutly nothing! My sister doesnt allow her kids to watch YTKids channels anymore because the same thing is happening there. Barney the happy purple dinosaur is getting poked, his head cut off and his brains studied by those wierdos of 'parent uploads' and other insane media. Those videos are not healthy for children and giving a child a computer everyday isn't healthy either.
It's safe to say that my nephew will not be getting a mobile phone or a computer until he is thirteen years or when he needs it for studying.

Some legitimate content creators do the same thing because copyright strikes are pretty heavy-handed and lack nuance. It's not always a sign that a video is attempting anything shady, but if there's no effort to explain why, that's probably a warning sign to beware.

Worst thing is that they KNOW that they’re getting away with what they’re doing. I don’t care about their use of pitch correction nor auto tune but like you said, it’s mind boggling how many copyright laws they are breaking by claiming artists’ songs as their own, using music reality shows’ images without permission, and making false claims about their accomplishments. Being a musician myself, if this fraud machine has accomplished anything, I certainly hope that, when your lawyer finds out, they will accomplish lawsuits to the max. The comments to the fake videos must be fake too. A 77-year-old woman wrote that her father saying that Righteous Brothers song to her when she was a little girl. Problem is, when that song came out, she was about 20 years old.
She would have been 17 or 18 in 1965, when the Righteous Brothers version was released…good catch.

The actual song was released in January, 1955 and the Righteous Brothers recorded it in 1965. If her father sang her the original version, that was 69 years ago making the woman in question around 8 yrs old. I not saying it's definitive but it's theoretical possible.

Thank you Fil for providing these details. I recognized that it was fraudulent before because they would show the judges from time to time and sometimes the panel was from AGT and sometimes from BGT for the SAME performer!
Well done Fit. This is crazily fraudulent. When you know, the production values are just too good for a talent show. it also gives a completely unrealistic expectation to anyone who genuinely wants to learn how to be a solo vocalist. I hope they get sued to hell and back.

Unfortunately, Fil got part of the story wrong. I compared the short clip of Power of Love to Vanny’s version and Celine’s version… and it is definitely Vanny’s version that was dubbed in and not Celine’s (both are available on YT). I think when you see one fraud, like using the AGT background, it’s easy to think that the voice must be a fraud if it sounds too good. But it wasn’t. Vanny is a good singer.
I hope Fil corrects this. The dude who made the fake video deserves criticism for that… but I think Vanny might be an innocent party here.

Go about 40 seconds into her version. It is the same as the clip. It is clearly different from the same section of Celine’s version. Don’t react emotionally and be lazy. Do research. Now whether Vanny goes through the correct legal steps when recording covers for her albums, I have no idea. But she is available on many music platforms. I am certainly interested in what Fil’s lawyer friend has to say. And I am interested in understanding the legal jeopardy of the guy who makes fake videos that used Vanny’s voice, as well as potential legal jeopardy for anyone who doesn’t credit the song writers appropriately, and if Vanny falls into that category.
All that said, Phil’s mistake is highly relevant. Vanny Vabiola is a real singer, and that was her voice.
