Wow such a great detailed review! I will definitely be subscribing to your channel buddy! Hey quick question, I just purchased this exact monitor for my wife’s office. How do I create 2 displays on that one screen? Thanks in advance Lucas! 😊
Hey great question. To split screen on an Odyssey G5 using PBP (Picture-by-Picture) functionality, navigate to your monitor's settings menu, locate the "Picture-by-Picture" option, enable it, and then select the input sources you want to display on each half of the screen
Awesome! Keep me updated on how you like it. 👍 Also, what pc are you using? I'm thinking about updating my Alienware x51 pc for the latest Aurora R16 pc. 😀
I finally upgraded my pc ive had since 2016 so that ment also a new monitor since in still stuck on a 60hz tv screen lol. I found the g5 for 400 euro here in the Netherlands and just went with it. I was a bit sceptical reading some reviews about its brightness but honestly coming from a 60hz screen i doubt ill care so much. I already blew over 2.5k on the pc alone so i didn't wanna overblown it too much with a expensive monitor. Excited to see it in action soon! Maybe in a year or so ill upgrade to oled if i really enjoy the experience but burn in is still definitely something im unsure about. Id hate to have to buy a new monitor every other year because of it. Anyways excellent review sir!
Hey been after a new monitor just bought a new pc I7-14700KF - RTX 4070 SUPER - 32GB DDR5 - 2TB NVMe got given a 27 ex tournament 185hz but is only 1080 which is just putting my pc specs to waste after watching this video i have decided to go with the 34 as i had a wide curved but only 1080 an my son plays on it now i miss curved for gaming an i seen alot of bad ghosting reviews on this monitor but from 3 years ago yours is the latest and you clearly fixed the ghosting im sure my pc will handle 165hz with display port getting ready for space marines 2 thanks for the video hello from new zealand gg

Nice review! - Some gaming monitors have built in speakers like the SoundBar on HUAWEI MateView GT 34' and some models of the Odyssey also have built in speakers and are still called monitors not TVs
I have an Asus Tuf Gaming monitor 165hz and it has speakers in it. I was surprised when I found that out. Looking at this monitor to make it my main display and have the other as a secondary.
I think gaming monitors are adding speakers. But I'll ask, are the speakers any good on your Asus? Yeah, this monitor is amazing you can't go wrong. If you buy it, definitely keep me posted.
@AtHomewithLucas I never saw this message. The speakers sound like tin cans lol to be truthful, but if you're a gamer with headphones and don't want to buy full-set speakers, it's good to have this option if you don't want to wear a headset all the time.
Hey i am currently deciding between this and The Gigabyte G34WQCA the gigabyte model should be better but the the samsung has nice curve they are in the same price range in my country ) moving from 1080p 27inch Any opinions here ?
Samsung panels will look better. They have some of the best colors and blacks. Other panels may seem better on paper, but they don't look as good in real life. Buy a Samsung panel for best image quality.
i been running two of these for about 3 years now i really like them but kinda wish had higher Hz but they are really immersive esp. when you put them on adjustable arms
@@AtHomewithLucas yeah to be honest its a bit much lol i only game on one and watch youtube believe it or not i was running a 1660s until like a month ago lol lol now im running a 3060 watch you tube on the left play games on the right desk about 61inches wide i want the seceret labs magnus xl pro which is 71 i think but yeah there on arms also
My 34 Samsung monitor has speakers in the back, which I didn't know when I purchased it. I noticed when I turned on YT and heard a noise coming out of the monitor... Gaming monitor.
@AGV_69 The only thing about the lenovo is the resolution. My thoughts are that it will not be a good clear image all the time. Also, it's a weird aspect ratio, so I'm not sure if anything will be able to go full screen.
@@AtHomewithLucas yaa got your point. Thanks mate. But not sure why its $500 on officeworks and $1000 in jb hifi.and the original cost is $1500 AUD. Office works is giving it way too cheap. I am just getting for productivity and learning.
Hey Lucas awesome videos! i just watched this review and the samsung viewfinity s5 review that you did. which one do you recommend to get for web design, dev and gaming? PS and not a heavy gamer. thank you in advance!
Okay so buying a curved monitor changes how you view things (because they are not straight across) so my first thought is get the flat panel for design. But the flat panel is less imersive for gaming. So I'd say buy the curved monitor with the understanding it might be too curved. Or get the flat panel to be safe. But I'm definitely obsessed with curved monitors for all aspects of use.
Every monitor my dad bought growing up was a giant box monitor with no speakers, so he always had some monitor speakers sitting next to it. When I started buying monitors back in the early 2000's none had speakers. Not until this year did I find out some monitors come with speakers.
hello im about to buy this monitor currently i have samsung oddysey g4 27 inch 240hz but i have one problem i have two options id like to take your recommendations what should i buy ; ACER PREDATOR XB323QUM3BMIIPHX or Samsung Odyssey G5 LC34G55TWWIXCI
Once you go ultrawide theres no turning back i have a couple weeks till payday but racking my brain trying to find a decent monitor....my 1080 ultrawide is full screen? Weird
@@AtHomewithLucas OK so my question is, with it only having 1 hdmi, could I use display port for pc and hdmi for ps5 to alternate between the two pictures?
@@AtHomewithLucas I decided to go with the LG UltraGear 34GP83A-B. Has no smearing, IPS, and true 1ms response time. I’m running a 7800x3d with a 4080 coming in the mail.
The Samsung is great for gaming, which looks amazing, but the stand is not so good. Doesn't move around at all it's in a fixed height. The Asus has more gaming settings and a way better stand that moves all over the place. The Asus also looks good when you get the settings just right. But the Odyssey looks better.
Great question...no this is a VA panel. IPS monitor panels typically serve as compact flatscreens - like Samsung's 24-inch S40UA - while VA panels are widely adopted for curved monitors, like Samsung's 49-inch S95UA. Both panel technologies provide numerous benefits across all use cases and industries.

what I did to get rid of the flashing bars was to change the display port version in the menu. If using HDMI that version can be changed as well.
Oh that's a great idea. Let me give it a try! 😁
Thanks for the review, I just ordered mine for my new gaming setup.

If you haven't done this already you might try setting your graphics card resolution to the resolution of the monitor...might fix some quirks.
My graphics card (ZOTAC Gaming GeForce GTX 1660) is set to the monitor settings as far as I know.
@@AtHomewithLucas Ok good but you can check the resolution in the Geforce control panel if you need to and thanks for the video.
Yes I did check and my graphics card is running 100hz at 3440x1440

It's 2024 now and do you still recommend it (on a 330 USD deal)?
Yes, that is a great deal. The only thing is that the stand doesn't move up or down. So it's not as good as some new gaming monitors.

lots of old monitors had speakers. they took them out to save money and they were usally terrible anyways

Does it support 4k gaming?
Well, it's not a 4k monitor, so no, it won't display a 4k image, only a 2k image. But yes, you can run a 4k gaming rig on this monitor.

@@AtHomewithLucas yes i ended up buying predator monitor and i think its better then odyssey 👀🫢
Samsung G5 34 OR AOC CU34G2XP 34 ?
I'd get the Samsung because the screen is much better. Also, the Aoc stand is not good.
Did you noticed black smearing ?
In my testing, I didn't notice anything like that. 👍
This monitor or Xiaomi 34 curved
thank you ❤️🔥
Xiaomi has a better stand. But the Odyssey has a better panel. The 1000r curved screen is much better. I'd buy the Odyssey for a better display.
is it good for movies ??
Not regular movies (16:9) but great for movies that are 21:9 aspect ratio. Regular movies will have bars on both sides.

Would have talked to support about the 165Hz thing before making the video - that was a big unresolved meatball
So my graphics card is not powerful enough to handle 165hz that's all.
ips?
