I love it how your Korean Samsung executive speaks perfectly good Korean and then suddenly pronounces Samsung in a way that no Korean born in Korea would ever pronounce it. Anyway it didn't take anything away from a very cool video.
I worked solely with Dex on my Galaxy S22 Ultra for a month and a half after losing my computer six months ago. I work as a Head of Product at an early stage startup, almost all my tasks are in web apps and I ran all of them most without problems. My most-used apps include Figma for collaboration with the Design team, Notion and Confluence for project management, Boardmix for brainstorming (similar to Miro), AItable for database work (like Airtable), and Google Workspace for various office tasks. I made it through the 40 days. Maybe I reduced my phone's battery life a little, hahaha, but I did it well. Since that, I often run some tasks with my phone when I can't carry my laptop.
I am also a lead in dev projects, I tried to use Dex on my 4k display yesterday. The mouse cursor moves were inprecise, the text clarity was so poor, despites forcing the res to 4k, I could not extend the experience, switched back to macos and it was much more comfortable. But I agree that the SoC of my S23 Ultra could cope with a few web apps + Sheets + gmail opened.
Also, the fact that Samsung kept adding to Dex, stayed committed to it is what makes Dex good. Enough support. And more than a standalone feature, it's useful for those situations, when you just have your phone... real life-saver

I discovered the Samsung tablets do DeX without the need for a monitor and I love it. Just plug a keyboard and mouse in or Bluetooth both and there you have it.
@jdsd_ Yes, actually. There's an app clled Samsung Flow that uses Bluetooth and WiFi network to connect both devices wirelessly, but SmartView or other Samsung specific apps might work to turn the tablet in to a simple monitor because Flow for me seems to share the sreen which is wild. I assume the DeX on your S24U would operate on this given DeX autosets once it registers a bigger sccreen. My A54 does not have DeX so sharing the screen does not activate DeX. Samsung Tablets also have a Screen Share function somewhere that allows the tablet to act as a second monitor, as well, but I'm not familiar with that yet. In the Case of the S24U, it can be connected to a standard monitor via a Type-C port and a DeX Hub. Dex hubs looks like a dongle with half a dozen connections on it including card reader, Type C, Type A, HDMI, and a thunderbolt charger port to keep everything running. From here you can connect a keyboard, monitor and mouse or use the phone as a trackpad.
I'm experimenting with DeX these days as well; I don't need some of the heavier apps you require. I'm very optimistic! Thank you for sharing your experience.
The problem with Dex is most of the people who reviewed it are those tech guy who do video editing or graphic design. In real life, the number of people who do video editing/graphic design in real life is just a very tiny portion of it and people are complaining about it. Even I am tech nerdy but I didn't edit video very often, so Dex is more than capable to use for daily life like web browsing and document with office suite.
This is the issue with RUclips reviewers in general (more laptop reviewers than phone reviewers though). They don't seem to realise that 99% of people & professionals have never edited a video in their lives, so endlessly reporting video editing benchmarks is pretty pointless.

I use DeX every week. As a teacher, I use it to connect my Samsung tablet wirelessly to a Microsoft hdmi adapter that projects the tablet screen to the digital whiteboard. I present. and run software via DeX and can use the tablet simultaneously to do grading, research on the web (or secretly answer a WhatsApp text). It's working flawlessly so far, but with some quirks. For instance, to redirect the audio output of the tablet to the external display, I need to go to DeX and change the audio destination there, which I couldn't do in normal tablet mode. But once rerouted, the audio is done correctly even if I switch out of DeX mode again. I must make sure to bring a mouse as well as DeX with gestures is a challenge.
I've been using a Galaxy Tab S7 Plus as my daily driver/workhorse since my aging MacBook has a quirk I need to get fixed. It's handled everything I've thrown at it superbly👌🏻 -- the display, speakers, and Webcam are far superior, TOUCHSCREEN (ofc) + Samsung keyboard case + S-pen kick butt, and multi-tasking and battery life are better. DeX is indeed great, but yes, it has a few occasionally annoying quirks. E.g., no option for portrait mode (that I'm aware of), it "trims" my banking app prior to the true bottom of the displayed info, the tablet won't run Diagnostics in DeX, and it would be nice if DeX could retain the drop-down shade for quick access to settings & notifications (yeah, I'm demanding, I know 😅).
I have a Samsung tablet, one that's lower end and can't do DEX mode. But, I've enabled most of those features in developer mode. My tablet paired with a bluetooth keyboard and I'm golden.

Your videos are so good man. Please never stop. Its not just your editing or anything, it's honestly your personality, humor, and specific tech subjects. Dex has definitely came in clutch for me a few times. Hopefully samsung never gets rid of it.
I work in IT, and I often need to move from place to place. There are times when I move without my laptop because I don't expect to need it. But it has happened a few times where I did need it. But since I didn't have my laptop, Dex came in handy and I was able to do more work because of it.
Perfect juxtaposition of humor, consideration, and insight into an intriguing possibility for mobile workflows. Instant sub here, looking forward to seeing how the experiment goes with your wife!
If you're pairing your Samsung phone with a second screen that’s essentially a laptop shell, it really makes you wonder-what's the point? For just a bit more instead of getting a screen for dex, you could get a real laptop that’s the same size, weighs just a bit more, and offers way more capability. DeX feels like it’s stuck in an odd space: it’s nice as an add-on if you already have a powerful PC and don’t want a laptop, but without a second screen, it's pretty limited. So, in my opinion, DeX is a cool extra, but it's not truly a laptop replacement.
this was the first video i've seen from you and it was very entertaining! I have never used dex, i'm not one that has a need to be working on the go, but it's insane how far it's come and how powerful it is now. I am shocked you were able to do your editing while your kid was playing games.
I love this guy. Something fresh about how he does his reviews with a humorous twist in and the everyday things that he does with the stuff he reviews is just brilliant. There’s a like and a subscribe to you my good sir, I love your work.
This is strangely beautiful. I was looking for a video on Dex as I'm considering shifting to android. Not only do you live in sydney like I do, but you also daily a 13 mini and use a heavy duty laptop (rog g14 for me). I think I finally found MY tech guy. Looking forward to more videos bud!
I've used DEX for basic video editing. It can work if needed but its not the greatest use. For average tasks like youtube, email, sheets, web browsing.... etc etc... it's great. I it daily in my office set up.
Hey man, came across your video searching for DEX capabilities on the S24U. Love the straightforward style and your on-cam personality. Also resonated hard as a current/previous owner of a P8P (daily), iPhone 13 Mini (rip), iPhone SE3 (backup), and S23U (rip). Will be following your stuff, thanks!
I love your final discovery - you can use the phone for all the things just like normal whilst *also* using Dex wirelessly. That is really mknd blowing. All we need is some greater desktop-like software options. And support for two monitors.
I daily drive an iPhone and a Pixel because of the software experience but honestly, I’m really impressed with DeX. It could be a game-changer if Android adopts it natively. Big respect from Japan to Samsung for leading the way!
I wish Google did, or at least, Apple actually introduces a "Mac desk" or whatever so Google will take it seriously. I can see this as a replacement for my work laptop and I am currently off galavanting somewhere right now and using my S8 tab+ to do work on the go . I don't deal with heavy graphics and such so it's ok. I also use Kiwi Browser for google extensions (I need some for work like the okta rockstar app) and I can work pretty well with it. Really awesome what Samsung has done. My only problem is I need to buy a new phone but I do not want to spend money on Samsung pricing at all but they made me want to stay in their stupid ecosystem. Geez, it's either Apple or Samsung with their bloody traps
wow... I just discovered you and this video. Love the content. Very informative even tho i don't really use "DEX" But however, I now have the knowledge and may use in the future because of your video. Thank you and you will be subscribed
So I watched your video on the Xreal glasses. Most of it was stuff I have seen several times. Than I decided to look up information about Dex. Again stuff I have written down over the last year. Not much new. What got me was the last few seconds of your video as well as several moments in your last video. Your family. The relationship you have with them. Especially your wife. The humor you two pull off together is refreshing. So with that said I'm going to do something I RARELY do with tech channels. I'm subscribing. Keep up the good work bro. 😎
This is the first video I have seen of yours, Samuel, and I really liked your content. After I finished the video, I immediately subscribed to your channel. Thank you for this amazing video, and you have a very nice family, God bless you ❤
First day with my S24 Ultra and I stumble across this video in my RUclips feed. Hilarious Dex review. Makes me wanna use it for Adobe Light room since it's free on Mobile!!
Very great video, I have the Z Fold 5 and was not aware that you can use the phone and Dex at the same time but that is very good to know. Been looking into possibly getting the Viture AR glasses to use it for Dex so I'm not hauling around a monitor.
you pointed out a very valid point. Software support. The thing that stops me from using Samsung tablet full time was the fact that Excel on Android could not open CSV files, and Powerpoint app was just not the same as the desktop one. However it was good enough to get some simple work done if I was on holiday.
I just switched from a MS laptop to the Samsung tab S9+, and it does everything I need it to do, plus it's way more portable, faster with apps like Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc., online social media, internet research, meetings and taking Samsung notes, and video editing with Luma Fusion. It does everything I need it to do plus more, and DeX is fantasic with my monitor, KB, mouse and external drive automatically starting when I plug in my USB-c hub into it. Yes, there are limitiations on some of the apps so you need to research if they will do everything you need them to do, but for me it's a perfect fit!
I use a pretty similar option on my Huawei and it saved me thousand times. I have a two hand-sized wireless keyboard and a flat mouse so I can put a whole setup in a small bag. Really useful when you are in another city for a week and have to carry your excel routine everywhere. Also helps to translate RUclips on tv and lie around with a laptop in another corner. The only sad thing is that it doesn't work properly with my gaomon s620 tablet so I can't draw in a PC mode
Haha. That was a great little skit about how Samsung came up with Dex. Also very cool to see you and your wife working side by side as creatives. Very nice to see. I've used Dex for 1 whole month while overseas. I only used the Samsung email which is pretty good, the My Files app, a web browser, and the phone's data. I didn't use any of the phones apps to do any actual work. I was still doing all of the work on my PC but just using Dex to communicate and send/receive files. Dex is very helpful. When it was first released I figured I would never have any reason to use it but the concept seemed amazing anyway. But I wouldn't choose to use a mobile app to do actual work if I had access to a desktop app.
The ending video was part of another world. I loved the whole video, but the ending made me want to leave a positive comment about whole this video. reps+ and thanks for posting all this positive vibes.
As a 1st-gen koram man The apple hq samsung hq scene got you a sub easily. Maybe your wife or editorial said it wouldn't be funny but you kept it in and I applaud bravado and humor with a sub, more like this pls, cheers from CA
AWESOME video, Samuel ! 👏🏻 I just "discovered" your channel, and this content earned you an instant Sub ! 😊 I ❤ using the built-in DeX on my Tab S7 Plus, and you're giving me fresh ideas for how to leverage wireless DeX on my S22 Ultra ! 💡 🙌🏻
My favorite RUclipsr.. The only thing lacking are optimized apps. Like someone said on RUclips - "Once you get a new phone, you also get a new laptop with Dex".
This is really cool. DEX has come a far way since it's beginning. If this was implemented on Android I could try to see if I could replace my laptop too. Like you said, maybe not everybody would convert but I do have a dedicated gaming PC and only need my laptop for being on the go, and doing browsing and creative work away from desk. For most, this phone could probably be enough to replace a PC completely. For some, they would run two devices - but all we need is more awareness and support for the feature from the industry wide. Could even be a good enterprise option, cheaper than giving out employees a laptop and a phone. Just get em a phone, have DEX supported setups on shared spaces, and the option for that DEX laptop kit if needed.
About the playing and working at the same time use of dex - I find that it constantly switches "focus" between phone and "desktop", which would make it pretty hard to use that way. Though I bought an S20FE for cheap to try using dex as a laptop replacement. So my version might be outdated. So far I am pretty happy though, seeing as I now have a more than capable emulation machine, good desktop for all things work (which falls in the "admin" category you named, based on applications) and a nice entertainment machine for when I go on vacations, not needing to haul my big ass 2012 15" MBP with me!
50 million gigs of RAM is just enough for the chrome browsers I need open to research how to use DEX. Excellent video. I learned I have no need for any of it, but that I'll stick to S series Samsungs just in case I do need it.
Dex is the reason I've entirely replaced my laptop with a Galaxy S7+ tablet. I use the tablet instead of the phone because of being an artist. The S Pen far exceeds my Huion tablet. There's also the caveat of because I'm a streamer, I have a nice desktop with dual monitors and all the bells and whistles. So for the work that can't be done on Android right now due to software support I have that. The non-Dex multi-tasking features also keep improving which is great. I'm not even 100% sure where my laptop is because it's been so long since I needed it.
This is insanely awesome, and if google, steam and Samsung made an agreement. this could become the new modern desktop easily. you could do bills, get entertained and have everything you need right in your pocket and you can pull it up at basically any publicly or privacy owned dock.

Thanks for taking the time to do this video. It answered a lot of questions that I had about DEX.
I love this guy. Something fresh about how he does his reviews with a humorous twist in and the everyday things that he does with the stuff he reviews is just brilliant. There’s a like and a subscribe to you my good sir, I love your work.
Ur videos are so immersive, it’s as if I’m the one facing all the problems and discovering the awesome solutions.
I'm so much inlove with how you make your videos and review tech products. Much love from Nigeria
Bro you have made me cry out of laugh in first 3 minutes, like and sub immediately. Just keep up doing it the way you do.
This was awesome ! You're the freshest Tech RUclipsr RN ! Such a blast to watch your videos ! Awesome work ! Thanks a lot
Great content man! This is the stuff I love to see and pay RUclips for 👌
The fact that you didn't do 24 days for parity sake is blasphemous 😤
HEHEHE
But he’s in pain for too long
More than parity (2x), this is Trinity (3 weeks)
Really appreciate your dedication
This is strangely beautiful. I was looking for a video on Dex as I'm considering shifting to android. Not only do you live in sydney like I do, but you also daily a 13 mini and use a heavy duty laptop (rog g14 for me). I think I finally found MY tech guy. Looking forward to more videos bud!
Welcome! Glad you found this family.
switched to s23 from iphone 14 its a whole new world outside the walled garden its amazing
I've used DEX for basic video editing. It can work if needed but its not the greatest use. For average tasks like youtube, email, sheets, web browsing.... etc etc... it's great. I it daily in my office set up.
Dude, I’m studying Korean right now and that skit had me on the floor. I showed it to my group, and subbed. 😂
I love your style of video and sense of humor, you deserve more recognition! Keep it up man
Hey man, came across your video searching for DEX capabilities on the S24U. Love the straightforward style and your on-cam personality. Also resonated hard as a current/previous owner of a P8P (daily), iPhone 13 Mini (rip), iPhone SE3 (backup), and S23U (rip). Will be following your stuff, thanks!
Comment just for your wife to use Galaxy S24 😂
Get her a Galaxy tab, too.
In on it as well! 😂
Commenting here and my own as well to get the numbers up lol
Exactly
She will finally make her ancestors proud
That skit was gold😂, every video I've seen from this channel has been amazing, time to subscribe😎
I love your final discovery - you can use the phone for all the things just like normal whilst *also* using Dex wirelessly. That is really mknd blowing. All we need is some greater desktop-like software options. And support for two monitors.
I was just thinking about if they added dual monitor support, this would be insane
Hi Samuel,
I like the way you present your video.
Funny, informative,
Keep this up.
Thanks
Truly enjoyed your video.
Here for the wife to abandon Apple
I love this guy so much haha. Watching on my s24u. Been a fan when u started reviewing the pixel phone.
This is an incredible video the sketches were actually funny too 😂
I daily drive an iPhone and a Pixel because of the software experience but honestly, I’m really impressed with DeX. It could be a game-changer if Android adopts it natively. Big respect from Japan to Samsung for leading the way!
I think Samsung is South Korean
@@ht_ghaurithe commenter is in. Japan
He is japanese saying his respects to Samsung from japan (i think)
@@sonofage If apple did that, Yeah sure the experience and workflow would be great but it won't be free 😌
Loved the Apple HQ and Samsung HQ part! Hilarious! 😂
Great video!! Keep up the good work!
wow... I just discovered you and this video. Love the content. Very informative even tho i don't really use "DEX" But however, I now have the knowledge and may use in the future because of your video. Thank you and you will be subscribed
Just found your channel a few days ago. Keep up the great work!
The bloopers at the end were the best. Even though it was technically "cheating" the fact that you let us in on the secret was awesome. Great video!
Your wife went “oohuurgh” when you flung that MacBook Pro. 🤣
LMAO 😂
Louder than when in the bed lol
Good video on feature I should use more. I especially appreciate the reenactments, characters and bits
The Korean accent was insane 😂😂
Same thing I said😂😂 he sounded like samsung granpa chairman😂😂😂
Great to see this channel getting the attention it deserves!
Thank you for this amazing video, and you have a very nice family, God bless you ❤
loved the blooper at the end,
First day with my S24 Ultra and I stumble across this video in my RUclips feed. Hilarious Dex review. Makes me wanna use it for Adobe Light room since it's free on Mobile!!
capcut
I love this guy! Another great video!! I miss dex so much for me it's perfect can't wait to get it back!
1K likes and I’ll sell my MacBook Pro, iPhone 14 Pro, iPad Air 4, AirPods, and Apple Watch and go full Samsung/Dex
Just buy the S24 Ultra
I'm a little late (2 months to be exact), but from the looks of the likes on this video, you must be all samsung, lol! Great video!
@@HumanjerryHa, why not Z Fold? Then you get a tablet too.
Very great video, I have the Z Fold 5 and was not aware that you can use the phone and Dex at the same time but that is very good to know. Been looking into possibly getting the Viture AR glasses to use it for Dex so I'm not hauling around a monitor.
Let's see how your wife likes the s24 Ultra
AWESOME video! I haven't messed around with DEX nearly enough. You have a new subscriber.
We need her to use the S24
you pointed out a very valid point. Software support. The thing that stops me from using Samsung tablet full time was the fact that Excel on Android could not open CSV files, and Powerpoint app was just not the same as the desktop one. However it was good enough to get some simple work done if I was on holiday.
4:02 💀
"Wuh!"
You got a like for Beluga pic 😂
Samsoong Dix 🤣🤣🤣
I use a pretty similar option on my Huawei and it saved me thousand times. I have a two hand-sized wireless keyboard and a flat mouse so I can put a whole setup in a small bag. Really useful when you are in another city for a week and have to carry your excel routine everywhere. Also helps to translate RUclips on tv and lie around with a laptop in another corner. The only sad thing is that it doesn't work properly with my gaomon s620 tablet so I can't draw in a PC mode
You deserve a Like just for the 2017 flashback
Awesome video; many congratulations!
Bro, you are juicing out all the potential from this device, IG you are the only person using S24 more productively and now that’s worth of $1000😄
Anazing video, I had no idea any of that was even possible with Dex. That is a game changer for a lot of people.
The Mac throw is hilarious, quite a risk there 😂😂😂 but good video review in total
Mate, I hit subscribe 1 minute in. Your content is hilarious. Love the outakes :)
AWESOME video, Samuel ! 👏🏻 I just "discovered" your channel, and this content earned you an instant Sub ! 😊
I ❤ using the built-in DeX on my Tab S7 Plus, and you're giving me fresh ideas for how to leverage wireless DeX on my S22 Ultra ! 💡 🙌🏻
Fantastic video man, really good to see some actual use cases rather than just contrived examples
The idea of converting my whole PC set up into a phone is cool. I want it.
Really fantastic video! Perfect bled of useful review and humor. Well done! Subscribed.
Started watching to learn about DEX features, stayed because this guy is actually entertaining xD
This is insanely awesome, and if google, steam and Samsung made an agreement. this could become the new modern desktop easily. you could do bills, get entertained and have everything you need right in your pocket and you can pull it up at basically any publicly or privacy owned dock.
I use Dex on my Galaxy S20 FE for editing docs and excel connected to my tv and it works amazing!
