Those stock brakes are super impressive, hauling down a 3800 pound car over and over again without fade. Can't wait to see what happens with a set of tires and a better seat.

the brake by wire system is compensating for fade altering the pedal travel to brake pressure curve. obviously there will be a fade point, probably rather quickly fade faster after that point?

Went off a little at patience, got a little sideways on the rubles and broke a rear control arm along with bending my steering wheel sideways within 10 min of my first session out. I know I can do high 1:30s next time I go out there. Congrats on the car and excited to see the development of it in your hands.

Thank you for sharing the new video, Jackie. 👍👍👍I am really looking forward to seeing you push the new M2 to its limits step by step. Regarding the tires, although they are all PS4S, I remember that Michelin has a specially reinforced compound for the M cars in the G generation, and the OE PS4S on the M2 is probably better than the ones sold in the general market. Anyway, the M2 is really unexpectedly good and should not be judged by its appearance. 😅It's a pity that it's so heavy, and I am really excited to see you start the lightweight process.😍

Keep in mind the m2 is an M car, the supra is not and anything M costs More. The s58 also uses a lot more fuel, but has a dry sump, better head flow, bigger bore and lower compression, so it can take more abuse and power less stressed.

Stock vs stock, no, but it's also 500 pounds lighter which should make a pretty big difference in terms of power-to-weight after modifying both.
      > but a quick tune can give me all the power I need
Unfortunately, that quick tune requires having your DME (ECU) taken overseas to Finland to get unlocked by the one and only company who is currently capable of unlocking it for a hefty fee. The same will likely be true for this M2 though (newer Bosch ECUs).

Talking about a steering feel is the job of automotive journalists. Racing drivers don't care about steering feel as long as it turns the front wheels, lol.

I feel bmw has chassis and brake tuning down really good, but at a compromize. But maybe chassis tuning comes at a cost like lets say bmw has high center of gravity. Toyota supra seems to have them beat there. Also bmw has optimized gearing for its power, which may mean longer gears. Thats where the supra may have the bmw beat also, supra with more aggressive shorter gears.

Exactly. This just isn't a car for regular track work. It will be cost too much in consumables. This is the car you own if you do one or two track days a year.

Is it different enough from your gr supra build? Considering they are bmw drivetrains. Was hoping to see a hot hatch gr corolla or type r build. Something different. Just feel like the M2 isn't a purpose built platform like gr supra. Might not be as suited for track use.

@@KandiMan this is an M car. Its suppose to have factory max spec for the most performance. The GR supra is like the M car without the expensive stuff. I merely suggested he opt for somethin different than another BMW. Besides, the GR Supra is supposedly getting the same engine s58 in its final year. Basically a better M2

@@beexiong2995 S58 alone wouldn’t make the Supra a better M2, the actual M2 has a ton of M3/M4 chassis and suspension which is why it crushed the Supra times

@@KandiMan you are forgetting over 100hp more than the supra. Thats easily a second faster or more for any car. Bigger brakes, bigger tires, thats your typical M car. The supra is just a basic 340i package. With the s58 the supra would smoke the M2. These two cars are not even in the same performance league. The older M2 is closer to the supra and the supra basically is onpar with that one. This M2 has the latest and greatest.

A modern BMW is inferior in many ways to the 20 year old S2000. Weight: literally 1,000 pounds heavier. Suspension design: simplistic and compromised compared to the double wishbone suspension on the s2000. Wheelbase: extra long vs quite short. Pros and cons here, but the really long wheelbase has downsides too. Obviously, it wins when it comes to stock power, stock brakes, stock suspension, etc.... It's a performance car 2 decades newer and just about double the price. However, give that S2000 a similar amount of power with a transmission that can handle it (8hp and DCT swaps are a thing now too, btw) and upgraded brakes and suspension, and you're going to see way different results.

Remember for a second we don’t get press cars to beat on like many other channels. When we get stock cars to play with, it’s either our friends’ cars or cars we had to pay money for ourselves. As much as I’d like the opportunity to drive more stock cars on track, going to our friends and saying hey can I borrow your car and go beat on it on track for a day doesn’t really work all the time lol
