  • Let's take this moment to talk about FOUNDATIONS! In this particular episode, I want to briefly touch on Morton's Foundation System (MFS). This our EXCLUSIVE system of giving YOU a solid foundation to construct your project for years and years of long-lasting and sturdy service! No more wood in the ground to rot or chemical preservatives for your family and friends to be exposed to. This is why YOUR building will be considered legit by the bank when you go to resell down the road. *It should be noted that BECAUSE of financing/banking issues of post frame style foundations, we will likely NOT be offering this for HOUSING.
    For shops, garages, equestrian and livestock, and other buildings this is a PERFECT choice! You know that your foundation will be strong and last for generations to come! #MortonMoment
    **Additional Notes for the "Tornado" Story: A tornado made a DIRECT hit on a Morton building with this MFS in place. Obviously, the building DID get destroyed. The wood columns broke away from the foundation system where the fasteners attach to the lumber at the MFS powder-coated upright plates. After checking for plumb, we simply reattached new lumber to the existing MFS and erected a new building! And because it was within the owner's first 5 years of ownership, our UNLIMITED 5 year wind warranty applied; We put the new building up, Labor AND Materials, under warranty! NO ONE else does that. If wood columns would been in the ground, history has shown that they either break off or pull out of the ground. Either way, it requires a lot more work for repairs and replacement.

    Wondering is there a system for insulating the slab as a shallow foundation? And can a 2x rim de added to the outside so wall insulation can go right to bottom, with a bottom plate to keep critters out

      Company that does "uplift protection testing"?!?!? Really?! Is that a "thing"?! How about REAL world winds and tornadoes?! Does that count?!

    We have a Morton from 71 and the creosote poles are still good. We also have a Lester's and the poles rotted off and the steel color is almost gone.

      I sure wish you could use creosote poles today.

    can we buy those steel plate anchors retail? They look like a more advanced version of Sturdi-Wall.

    • @ob1n
      @ob1n  4 месяца назад

      Those plates in this video are attached to our proprietary concrete columns. And I do believe that we aren't able to sell those retail/ out the door, unfortunately. However, I recommend that you contact your local Morton buildings construction office and pose the question to the repair salesperson and they may have a better answer for you. But from what I understand, this stuff is only sold and installed with a complete build package

    You put a concrete post in the ground and pour concrete around it in a snow load zone? 8' oc posts on a 40' building and 50 lb snowload will have a load of 8000 lbs on that post. Don't you need concrete under it? Like a 2x2x1 footer or more That post will sink through unless you are on a hard pan. Are you? What is your snow load?

      These buildings are engineered to specs using Geotechnical reports in scenarios like these. It's been so long since I did this project that I couldn't tell you exactly what those specs are. But I can tell you that we typically "over-engineer" everything. Code did not require a concrete wall footing in this example and our MFS was designed for the soil bearing capacity for this site. I do remember us building this site from 6' down below and up to grade; so this site was created to specs. The building has been in use now for over 4 years at this point and I have spoken to the owner; they are extremely satisfied even with drifts as high as the soffits/gutters. Thanks for your comments

      @@ob1n if you have drifts as high as the eaves then you must have at least a 100 lb snow load.
      I'm not satisfied with your answer.

      @kylehall59 forgive me, your highness. I fear that I may never be able to satisfy you with the answer you seek. However, I explained WHY I don't have the details as it's been a few years since I was involved with this project. Most important to me is that the building still stands as others around it have failed and the client(MOST IMPORTANT) is extremely satisfied with the service and product we provided 🙋🏼‍♂️. Your satisfaction is not needed 🤷🏼‍♂️

    can we buy a morton building as a kit?

    • @ob1n
      @ob1n  9 месяцев назад +1

      Unfortunately, you cannot. Each package is customized for your project. Our process involves sales, delivery, construction and a warranty NO ONE ELSE offers. Think of it this way.... Cadillac doesn't allow you to buy a "kit" for you to assemble and still provide a warranty. It's because of our trained crews(and exclusive Morton' materials) that we provide a warranty unmatched in the industry. Hope this answers your question
