  • Code compliance for post-frame construction of this light commercial project required an insulated grade beam. Matt Gerber from TriState Perma-Column walks thru the step-by-step installation process to demonstrate the speed and enduring reliability of Perma-Column precast concrete columns. Perma-Column is ICC-ES certified. permacolumn.com/

the 6x6 permacollumn is not insulated though? I bet you will get thermal bridging there and possible condensation issues?

WHY FILL THE GRADE BEAM WITH CONCRETE???

Nice! -- QUESTION -- But how is it attached to the "cookie" or bell housing to prevent up-lift. I don't understand, is this simply back-filled with no connection to the concrete "cookie" or any bell shaped structure to stop up-lift??

Can you just back fill and compact rather then doing the concrete next to the foam?

That's what I would say. Backfill with gravel. That slab should float and there are no horizontal forces to make it go anywhere.

would this application eliminate the need to put the perma columns deeper below the frostline since your insulating around the whole outside perimeter? Sort of the same way a frost protected shallow foundation slab

A floating slab/building MAY be cheaper
