The Most Underrated Ship In ELITE DANGEROUS

- While there are so many ships you can fly in Elite Dangerous, most players almost always stick to flying the same ships. In this video, I look at one of the great ships in Elite Dangerous that deserves more recognition. It's actually great at many roles too.
Let me know what you think about this ship in the comments.

I like this ship. For me hers major drawback is inability to land on medium and small landing pads. If it wasn't the case, she might be almost perfect.
Clipper requiring a L pad while python gets to use M pads is always going to be baffling to me.
As soon as I got into the game I knew I was working my way up the Imperial ranks. The Clipper and Cutter are both phenomenal ships. The speed and handling... nothing else in their categories compares. Which means I can load up and wave bye-bye to any NPC who thinks they're going to take my lunch money. I laugh any time they try to interdict me.
How much do I like the Clipper? There was a special event- haul cargo back and forth for big money. I bought a T-7 for the improved cargo space. Ran one trip, traded it back and finished the event in my Clipper. The T-7 felt like driving an apartment building after getting accustomed to my Clipper. That event gave me the cash to buy my Cutter. I now do 99.3% of everything in the Cutter. I do own both a MkIII and a MkIV Viper. But, just like most Lamborghini owners, I'm not qualified to operate those.
I love the Clipper and run missions a lot for BGS player faction support. I pretty quickly had to go back to alternative medium ships because medium pad access is essential for many missions. This is frustrating as the Clipper is so enjoyable to fly. But, when you want to visit Titans in Maelstroms there is nothing better than the Clipper engineered to run cold with strong hull. The class 7 universal limit controller means it can do anything you need - repair, get tissues samples, collect materials and so on.
If this ship could land at outposts I would use it all the time.
I use a Python for deep core mining, a Krait Mk2 for Thargoid hunting, a Corvette for bounty hunting and a Diamondback Explorer for exploring.
DBX for exploring all the way!
I prefer the aspx. It has a lot more slots for modules, so besides your standard long range exploration gear (big scoop, dss, afm, repair limpets, cargo rack, srv bay), you can also put something different, like a better shield for combat, or a business class cabin to do passenger transport over very long distances
For my character, I've decided to be loyal to the Empire only as part of this semi-role playing thing. Because of this reason, I own only Imperial ships. I own 3 clippers, engineered for exploration, combat, and mining respectively.
What a way to roleplay, Commander. o7
I respect the "character" part. My 2nd account is similar in that I will not pick a side, grind, or even hire a fighter pilot. Very simplistic. Lol
I love this ship, but I couldn’t find a good use for it…until the Titan’s came along. This is now my very low heat ship that allows me to easily get into the maelstrom and mine the titans. I love it.
I have a engineered Clipper that I use for combat and love it for it's agility and speed. A lot of players seem to use the Clipper for mining, but I still think the Python is better suited for that role.
With the Clipper you can look cool while doing anything
I'm using a lightly engineered clipper for exploration and love it. It looks great for screenshots, is fast, agile and handles amazingly, has decent jump range and a massive 7A fuel scoop make it great. Only drawback is its size 4 fuel tank, which I added another size 2 fuel tank, which really hasn't been necessary so far
The only problem with the Clipper is the large landing pad it requires, which prevents us from landing at Outposts, which greatly limits operability. Other than that, it's an excellent ship.
I used my Clipper for material gathering before the thargoid invasion. I find the best laser miner to be the Cutter with 7 mining lasers and 12 collector limpets. It can deplete any asteroid before the distributor runs out. For core mining the Anaconda is my goto ship. Before the invasion the Corvette was best for passenger rescue missions because it can hold the most passengers of any ship but now I find it's just to slow and has crappy jump range. I now use a Cutter and a Python for passenger rescue missions but I might try engineering my clipper for maelstrom mining. I love the big ships and have 3 of each engineered for a different purpose. I will agree that the Clipper is fun to fly because it's fast and handles more like a medium ship but it really suffers from the fact that it can only land on large pads.
As what many would now call a veteran of the game, I am guilty of neglecting the Clipper when I recommend ships to other players. A part of it is the whole "meta is easy" because the information on them is everywhere, the other part is that often times newer players don't yet have them unlocked. It's something I need to work on when giving build recommendations, but I also don't want new players to think they should grind out access to the rank locked ships, I'd rather them enjoy the game for months to years instead of burn out in a couple of weeks. To that end, I actually own four of them.
My first was set up for as a refuelling support vessel for combat ships that were too small to have a fuel scoop. We would wing up and I would refuel the ships when they got low, this was before Fleet Carriers were released and while we weren't advanced enough for engineering.
My second was set up as a heavy reconnaissance ship. It has the new operations multi limpet controller, and has enough fire power and armour to take a few hits and bloody some noses, great for some RP stuff that I have done with friends.
My third was my first experiment with engineering for cold running, it's an armed freighter for delivering rare goods or the occasional bit of cargo smuggling/blockade running.
My latest one is again cold engineered for going into the Thargoid Maelstroms, pulled it out again to try out the current CG, now I just need to get my piloting and AX abilities up a little higher so I can survive.
You make a very good point. Clipper is definitely not a must-own ship. It's more like a Ferrarri, that's fast and fun to drive lol
It’s honestly a pretty fair miner too. The speed is really nice for core mining when you’re cruising around looking for the good ones. I made most of my fortune that funds bounty hunting/exploration fun by core mining void opals and LTD’s in mine
I think the only thing this ship does perfectly is hunt signal sources and scan wakes. if you feel like a relaxing hour gathering mats then this is perfect. the downfall of EVERY ship is jump range. So I would rather take a ship not suited for a task with a high jump range then a ship perfect for a job that takes an hour just to get where I want to go.
No harm in looking cool while hunting signal sources
I own one, started life as a pirate vessel, then as a core miner. Now its one of my go to AX ships.
I forgot about AX combat. I did use it as a scout hunter for a while and I have recently tried it as a shard cannon ship but, have only had limited success given that the convergence isn't real great for fixed weapons. That, and the only time I tried to fight interceptors with the Clipper, I got booted offline for weekly maint. Lol
@@tommyleisy863 I run 2x large enhanced ax multis (turreted) on the out riggers and then either the salvation shards or plasmacs. Have no problem popping hearts despite the poor convergence on the medium hardpoints
My Clipper served its purpose and I can't tell you the last time I took it for a spin, the Cutter has a tendency to make the Clipper redundant. My Anaconda is for passengers and my Cutter is for goods. On a good day the Cutter makes 15 million a trip, the Anaconda makes me about 7 million every 7 minutes.
That's true. If only the Clipper was a medium ship it would give good competition for the Python
@@lootandgrind hah, out of all the ships in my fleet I'm using one of my Pythons right now. I'm transporting bertrandite and bauxite between Arine and Khondo Po, thargoids are about 4 jumps away and it's a good job as I'm not equipped to deal with them.
There are times that you just need a medium ship.
Just took the Explorer from Colonia. Had to buy another ship to run around in as I left my carrier full of ships back there. So I chose an Imperial Courier for its speed as I am doing some clean-up work for the princess in Thargoid controlled systems. Faster is gooder when avoiding Thargoids.
Finally a video about my favourite ship that doesn't say its crap. It just isn't
I do own this ship, these days i mainly use it for joyriding once in a while because it maneuvers like a dream for a large ship and taking nice screenshots. Im kinda sad about it since its kinda irelevant. the shields just do not stack up in pvp. Fun fact - clipper has less potential max shields than the COURIER. Like wth fdev. If i compare it to other mediums, it doesn't stack up to the Mamba KraitMK2 or python in combat, FDL is in a completely different class - its fast, can double the shield potential of the clipper, has so much more damage potential
The clipper is supposed to be a good smuggling ship but unfortunately smuggling is really poorly implemented and not fleshed out. I’ve used it for mining, combat, and exploration. I think it’s strongest role is exploration personally, it looks spectacular in screenshots and I love the look of the cockpit. Plus with all that speed you can have some SERIOUS fun in atmosphere drifting around. Landing pad thing is a pain in the ass and it’s honestly HORRIBLE for combat. You can make it fight but it’s just so bad at it that I can’t recommend it, and to top everything off it’s not even remotely cheap and a death will set you back on credits significantly.
I took mine away on Distant Worlds 2. It’s one of a handful of ED ships that took a piece of my soul. Thanks for the iClipper showcase. Subbed.
I always had a problem with the Clipper, as there are other classes of ship that can do the various main roles better. However, with the Thargoid War, I find it almost perfect as a Thargoid science vessel for sampling purposes: it's fast, agile, can carry a fair bit, I engineered it to be very cold, and at times it can take on the Glaive pretty well too.
He's right! The ONLY use i found, for mine, is a GOOD ONE! *I used mine (without engineering!) to rescue people from Thargoid attacked stations and settlements!*
(What you want is a ship that is inherently fast, so you can go about 450m/s, so u can run from most Thargoids you're likely to run into - and run it cold....So it's either this or the Cobra and you're not gonna rescue many in a Cobra!)
It makes a good AX/Combat Support ship with the shield heal beam lasers, it can run very cool, run an omni limpet controller for Refuel/Repair purposes, can run like hell when it's in trouble with as fast as it is, and makes a good rescue ship for burning stations due to it running so cool and being pretty maneuverable.
I made all Elite ranks of combat, trade and exploration with this ship and only this ship. I'm one with it. Last ship that I bought, I don't want anything else. I don't follow the mainstream. Never been destroyed due to its speed. Clipper pilots fly with a smile in his face. It will always take you home.
I love my Clipper, I think it would be the perfect ship for me if it could land on medium pads tho. It is my fourth* ship I bought and is still being used for maelstrom science
It's a love hate thing...
I love the way the Clipper looks...
I love the way the Clipper sounds...
I love the way the Clipper handles...
I love the Clippers speed...
I love the Clippers versatility...
But I hate that medium pads are off limits, and I hate that (when specialised) other ships do everything the Clipper does - only better.
I *want* to fly my Clipper...but I just never seem to get around to it 😭
You do know you can engineer the Clipper too? Landing on medium pads would be handy, though.
@@johnterpack3940 yeah, I took the Clipper out to a maelstrom recently - it was a joy to fly!
But if I wanted to hang around for a while - it just made sense to switch to a medium for combat, or a Cutter for general stuff...
I just wish I had more excuses to use the Clipper more regularly.
@tigger4000 I don't remember how often I used my Clipper after getting my Cutter. I wonder if it would make a decent passenger boat. The large landing pad requirement really does hurt its utility. Maybe it runs a bit cooler than the Cutter, so better for smuggling.
I use it for some X-Wing style action on pirates :D I got me some gatling guns on all 4 hardpoints, 1 being corrosive, the rest of em are incindiary Death Star trench runs all around baby:D
I love this ship, it’s my day to day go to for just about everything. It’s fast as hell, turns on a sixpence and can be outfitted with most things. And only 22m. Seriously one of best ships in the game
The clipper is versatile. Piracy, combat, cargo, mining... It can do it all. But there will always be a better ship if you specialise.
The inadequately bad convergence of the guns and the complete absence of a third large hardpoint makes this ship fundamentally worse than the Krait Mk 2 for the same tasks.
You correctly identified his role as a pirate ship. Because it is significantly faster than the Krait Mk 2 and can potentially have a larger cargo.
But the handicap of the third large hardpoint can be leveled only by very skillful piloting.
More speed may be appropriate to have against players rather than NPCs.
As for the sound of the engine, the Krait Mk 2 vs Clipper is like Harley Davidson vs Ferrari. Many people love their Harley.
But the view from the cockpit of the imperial ships is absolutely better.
Well, that's just my opinion.
I like the Clipper. For me it is just too big. It is a medium-sized ship which only fits on a large landing pad. The style factor is awesome. But when i have to take a large size ship i can also use my Anaconda.
The Clippers main killers: Hardpoint convergence, large size. Rank goes fast. Hardpoint convergence kill fixed weapons and you won't find many experienced pilots using Gimbals or Turrets. It doesn't stop well either once it is in motion. For beginners using Gimbals anyway, it might be of some use. I own one for bounty hunting, don't use it much. The Cutter is the better Clipper. Maybe if it was medium sized... nah. Hardpoint placement is just to awful.
1:46 Hey, I DID ask! Superb music choice from Futuremono! Almost as good as your voice. 🤗
I use the clipper for quick mining when i dont have the time to use the cutter
It's my main because of it's amazing aesthetics and maneuverability both in supercruise and normal cruise.
The clipper doesn't excel in anything, but it's rather polyvalent. I don't do space combat, so it's a really good ship for me, got 40lys for exploration, and 128 tons of storage for trade.
I use it for Mealstorm exploration. Engineered to low heat, and speed. It is perfect or the job.
A few years back, we had an infamous PvP’ r that went by the name of Harry Potter, some will remember him and his group. The clipper was one of his favorite meta’s of that time. There was some scandal at the time as the group had found a way to exploit the engineering system to be able to constantly get god rolls . Cutting a long story short, engineering got fixed and considered by some as nerfed. That group soon left the game after that , right or wrong, they surely injected some life into the game. Elite dangerous has very much become elite undangerous since those days. Brownie points to those who can remember the name of their player group, I can’t, it’s too early in the day 😊 As for my opinion of the clipper , I rarely use it, as the weapon divergence is so off, I couldn’t hit a barn door with it..certainly not with fixed weapons. But it flies beautifully, especially in FA off mode. …I must dust it off ..
The Clipper can do everything that any other medium sized ship can do except land at medium sized pads. :)
I use the Clipper a lot, though heavily engineered. All my ships are basically science vessels, and the Clipper checks all the boxes. Jump range is the only thing I wish it did better in. It handles really well, in my opinion, and has that sci-fi science ship look.
I have a 53 ly clipper build that I took from the bubble to colonia and then to rykers hope. Its not best at anything except titan farming but its good at everything
Mine is used as a fun, quick and maneuverable deep core miner that was recently repurposed as a cool runner for maelstrom exploration.
I just finished my grind to Duke but haven't bought anything but the Imperial Eagle yet. I'll have to give the Clipper a try. It certainly does have nice sounds.
It has the second best sounds I've heard after Krait Phantom
Love the Clipper. I use mine for gathering mats both space and ground. I have collector limpets and cargo holds and reserve a smaller spot for SRV hangar. It is well armed and shielded. Its a very good all round ship and as you said.. it sounds fantastic.
I have one. All Burst lasers.
Fun, great looking and flying ship.
Name - Lightburst
Clipper would be way more popular if it just used a M pad.
The large landing pad, undergunned nature of the clipper is why people don't rate it highly, not the rank grind. I want to like it and it sounds like a blast to fly but other ships just do it better in various roles. Maybe if I had more patience for core mining?
The Clipper used to be a popular ship. The reason was speed. They mostly used Clipper for what people use Krait today. Then Krait came along and the Clipper became a scrap ship.
But there are still things you can do with Clipper:
Good for RP if you're an empire like me.
Good for Medium Laser Mining.
Good for mid-range explorers with a jump range of 52-53 ly.
All 4 are good with the same weapons (4 beam lasers, 4 MCs, 4 Frag Cannons etc. weird but that's my experience.)
But most importantly it is best for NPC Pirates.
The first 600 hours of my gaming life was spent on a clipper. I now have 5 Clipper for various roles. My mainship is still a clipper. I'm currently building a Clipper with 4 ax-mcs for AX and another for Titan Mining. So I will have 2 more Clippers. :)))
That's awesome. I rarely see folks enjoying this ship as much as you do. o7
I love my Clipper. Best ship in the game for flying fun. It does have one advantage most don't speak of: It is cheaper than most ships that have similar capabilities. I use mine for black box/signal investigation and salvage. Anything that you can't outfight, you can easily outrun, should anything ambush you on those deep space recovery jobs.
Another thing people forget is that you can swap in a size 7 shield if cargo isn't a factor.
Exactly. And it's much cheaper than the Python
Thx for asking. But yes i've always appreciate the Cutter design. Got a bunch of ships but this one is missing. Large pad is maybe the reason why i did'nt buy one. But i'll do for sure. Python win the title so far as a multipurpose. Considering large ships i enjoy pretty much my Corvette than Conda or Clipper or T9. So the Clipper offer almost the same good design as Cutter but surely more fun to pilot.👍
Wouldn't hurt to give it a try. It's cheaper than the Python too
@@lootandgrind Perfectly right ! Tank's to you i'll buy one !🫡
The Clipper is still one of my favourite ships to fly. It sounds beautiful, it's fast and it's agility is exceptional. I have 2 currently, one a miner and the other one is a maelstrom material farmer. I love the ship, it's just a pity that it doesn't have a niche.
I use this as a bubble taxi. So fun to fly and great jump range. The only issue is it’s a large ship
Maybe it's time to rank up with the Imps to unlock this. Maybe.
Core Mining and AX Maelstrom visits ;) great video !! totally true,, so under valued and the engine sounds fab !!
I have two , one for core mining and the other for Rez sites. It’s a fast ship and that’s what you use to your advantage when fighting.
It's bummer, that only pancake-like ships (Cobra, Python, etc.) can land on pads of their widht.
I.e. small-width Type-6 needs Medium pad, medium-width Type-7 and Clipper need Large pad, etc.
Ahhh...now you're flying in style.
My favorite roles for this ship are Core Mining and HGE Farming.
Im playing for about 2 months and couple days ago I realized that Clipper and Cutter are not the same ship :D
I made the same assumption at first lol
I used my clipper to make my first really big money in the game just doing source and return missions in growing systems with investors that had deep pockets.. yes this is part of the gamesmanship of elite dangerous that many players never figure out😊but anyway, the maneuverability of a cobra a decent amount of cargo and just beautiful looks, only negative was the large landing pad requirement/small fuel tank, but in my trade routes it didn’t affect me there anyway. Now it’s part of a small squadron aboard my FC of planet surveying ships that can carry an SRV for exploration.
Exactly. It's definitely a versatile ship
I use a Clipper for HGE farming and another for core mining. Great ship for spinnin around rocks looking for fissures to detonate. The HGE part is just cause it looks cool and is fast. I don't think it necessarily excels at that beyond any other maneuverable ship.
Clipper has mid-sized internals while requires big landing pad. So I never used it, looks dumb choice for me - use Cutter or Python/MK2 instead.
Terrible shields but flys like a dream
Lol...just unlocked it yesterday. Haven't even tried flying. I can see that convergence might be a problem
You get used to it. BUt yeah its not great. Even a full frag build kinda suffers. The lower smaller hardpoints are so far back they can't track very high where as the upper larger hardpoints track perfect.
I use my clipper for canyon racing.
My favorite to drive so far 🚀
I love my clipper its surprisingly fast however the biggest problem I see with it is that it has 2 size 3 and 2 size 2 hardpoints and they are a pain to focus witch is the same amount as a phantom and less than both the krait II and python all of witch can land on outposts and dont need navy rank leaving the clipper with only the looks the size 7 internal compartment and the lower price all the while being the worst gutamaya ship for shield builds not including the "imperial" egle
edit: the problem being its competing in the segment as the most op ships in the game and not making itself stand out in that segment, the phantom has better jump, the krait II has more fire power better turning and a SLF, the python is the python
Clipper has the best agility out of them all wtf. And it has the best speed. The convergence is bad thou. So the Krait mk2 wins every time. Python has the ugliest cockpit so if you like to fly inside an rusty bucket go for it
My clipper is currently outfitted for Maelstrom mat hunting, before that it was my core miner (It's so fast that you can quickly scan around an asteroid field for the cores)
That's awesome
my fav ship for combat drawback it needs one more hardpoint, but very fast and qwick turns. VERY COOL LOOKING
Agreed, even one small would make a difference for us pirates
I use a clipper for mining and smuggling to large stations it is fast enough to avoid scans going in.
The cliper would be the best medium size multipurpose vessel... if it was medium sized. It feels good to fly but there is no real reason to buy it. Yes, it's cheap, bit it requires an imperial rank, and it's a lot easier to just get the extra creds for a python/krait than grind the stupid ranks
I have to be honest, I just use it as a fleet carrier hangar ornament. But a beautiful ornament it is.
I use the clipper for the material grind and also a wee bit piracy because why not :p
Planning on getting one to go Maelstrom diving, since I've already done the rank grind for the Cutter.. projected builds on EDSY show good speed while still running nice and cold. A Cutter might be even better for the increased utility slots, but the rebuy for the bigger ship is pretty eyewatering for something I'd be taking right into the middle of 'bug country'
I noticed that too. While jumping to systems, the ship had low heat levels. It would perform even better after engineering
Made a purpose built Clipper for going into the Maelstrom, and I have to say I am quite impressed. Largest internal went to repair limpets, no shields and buff up armor. 4x AXMCs, scanners and caustic sinks. With engineering it idles at 14%!! To be "seen", a goid has to almost hit my ship, and I can hang out in there for hours. Haven't tried an interceptor, and I'm an inexperienced AX pilot, but I can face down a Glaive if starting at full hull... then repair back up after the fight.
I love this ship, it is totally worth the grind. It is a great multi-role ship that, like the Cobra Mk3, is at least good or decent at everything. I use it for mining and combat mostly and it was my favorite early cargo ship because it could escape with ease and defend itself. The same is true for my Cutter now. The Clipper is more of a hull tank rather than a shield tank like its siblings but, I personally prefer it that anyway. Speed and heavy hull mixed with frags and either multi-cannons or pack hounds makes this ship dangerous! Though I run 2 accounts now, I have no intention on rank grinding with the 2nd account. But, I still would recommend at least getting enough rank for the Clipper. Regardless, have fun, take your time, and enjoy this game for all it's worth commanders!!
Getting to Empire rank 7 is actually easier. It took me longer to go from 7 to 12 to get the Cutter.
Its not recommended because there is an easier ship to get that does everything it can but better in pretty much every role. nothing to do with it being bad but it still requires you to unlock it and thats just an extra step for no real payoff. personally i fly the corvette, dbx, chieftain, and imperial eagle. i sold pretty much everyother ship I bought due to not flying them often.
I find the small ships way more fun to fly but if you are not in a wing, they can take too long to take a bad guy down. The Clipper is quite capable in a fight and great shields. It is criminal it is not a Medium ship. If I want to gather material in combat, the Python is the go to. The Clipper feels a less capable ship than the Python and that large landing pad probably seals it's fate with many commanders.
Python does feel lighter to handle. But then again Clipper is cheaper and it's faster. And it looks cool.
I use mine for exploring/recon and piracy
I like the look of this ship, but it feels a little too inbetween. Not as good at trading as other big ships. For combat, some medium options like the Krait MKII are better. For mining, the Python is as good or better. It would have a place since it's less expensive than others at only 22mil, but because it's locked behind empire rank, by the time most players get to that point, they likely have money for the alternative I mentioned. Were it a medium ship with a lower rank requirement, it could be a great generalist for many newer players.
I have 2. One engineered to max for battle and the other I use for cargo delivery after loading up my carrier with mining goods and trades runs.
That's perfect
I have one for mining. I had one ages ago, did some trading and bounty hunting in it. I'd love to find another way to use it but Python and Kraits beat it sadly in all roles. But it handles very well, smooth as butter and fast. PTN has a HGE farming build for it. Basically that's it sadly.
It makes a good pirate ship.
I don't like imperials but now I want to give their ships a try. Thanks !
That's awesome. Definitely give them a try
I have a lot of fun in a courier. It can take the enhanced performance thrusters, which is a blast. Most people don't know they exist. See Felicity if you want some. Class 2 and 3 only.
Clipper makes a fantastic core miner, better than the python IMO. I use one for exploring at times too, it has a decent jump range. What role did you prefer yours in?
Doing the imp grind now, to get the cutter - atm I'm Count, few more to Duke - tough to get Clipper do to the rest of the run, but will get Cutter, prep it for mining and then get money for FC first :D
You unlock clipper before cutter
@@lootandgrind yup, as a Baron I could get Clipper, and then could finish the rest of the grind in style. But will wait till I get Cutter.
Did I mix up anything lol?
It's crazy I've been playing for years and I still haven't got any of the ranked ships. Haven't needed them and I keep kinda putting it off. Not because of grind. Because I won't do it that way anyway. But because I actually kinda want to unlock it naturally. I mean I'm almost 4 years in it'll come eventually. Plus specifically for imperial ships, I'm not really an imperial guy. The slave thing is a big issue for me. The authoritarian dictatorship the feds have doesn't suit me well. It's funny because when galnet mentions "independent pilots" I almost feel like they are talking directly to me. I'm about as "independent" as it gets. Although I am with the Fatherhood and they are Federally aligned so I guess I lean that way.
You can definitely play without these ships. They are more like luxuries
@@lootandgrind I definitely play like a bottom feeder. I enjoy taking my time with everything.
I have my clipper engineered for speed as it is one of the fastest ships in the game mine can easily go faster then 500. So I can easily smuggle or run away from pirates while mining. No one can scan me.
I can't imagine how fast it would be after engineering
@@lootandgrind Mine used to boost at around 629 4 pips to engine. It would run at 496 without boosting. This was a fully laden shielded mining clipper. My pirate ship which i built specifically to hatch break miners could pull around 618. Sadly this meant that mining clippers would occasionally be able to outrun me in a straight line. Too of my favourite ships.
If you cant afford a cutter, save for a cutter.
I would love a medium pad Imperial ship, and a medium pad passenger liner.
Then the Imperial Courier is perfect for you
@@lootandgrind I do like it. Especially with the enhanced thrusters. It is a small pad though.
Did you do a voiceover on an ad for OhSpotlight?
Its a great ship. But it suffers from the need for large landing pads.
i have always used krait mk2 and it handles everything
It's underrated because it's not medium
At any moment you talk about how bad this ship is for combat
Done deal, I’ll get the clipper.
it should be midsized.
I will try to explain why people that play elite for a long time dont use this ship much. At list how I see it after 5k+ hours in game.
Rank is not a problem at all. You want a Cutter, so you will get this ship any way.
Size feels like a mistake from devs. It feels and goes like med. ship and I think it should be one. But we have what we have so...
The real problems with this ship are:
- One of the WORST weapon placement in the game. Try to use fixed weapons on it and shoot thargoid heart for example.
So it is most likely you will use Gimballed weapons or wepons you dont need to aim much (mines, torps, missiles). But in any case, weapon spots are TRASH.
- Shields are week. Yes, you have size 7 internal but it only means heavy module for you. Overal shield power will be less then Krait Phantom have for example.
Speed and maneuverability are the only strong points of this ship. All others are trash or just ok (jump range is fine, cargo is ok too but Python have more (it is med. ship!!!))
I tried to make a combat ship from Clipper once... and took Orca instead.
It is not that agile and have one less wepon slot but have same speed and much better weapon placement.
Damm, if passager ship is better in combat than this one, that is a RIP I think.
Resently people started to use it for Maelstrom mat hunting. I think Clipper not bad for this roll. That is where size 7 internal may helps.
But it feels like an exception from overal trend. I personaly think it is good, coz this ship really need some love.
So what we have in the end?
Cliper is a ship for fun and personal enjoyment. If you like this ship, you will fly it.
But if you dont care about it much, or u just need something functional, you most likely will go with other ship.
It is just not that good for anything to be used ever other ships in 99% cases. Sad really...
With shields and frags you can use its size and speed as a battering ram in pvp combat. But yeah it does have its cons.
This ship is pure crap. Bad weapons convergence. Mediocre cargo capacity for its size. Bad jump capacity. No fighter Bay. This shipbas no reason to exist. by Cmdr Hellysrazor.
It is pretty good for inverted meta-alloys harvesting.
What a terrible video. He did not tell us anything about it. Hard point size? Cargo capacity? Jump range. A worthless video.
