This is fantastic! I needed to hear this message today. My mama died Jan. 26 after several months in home hospice. I fought the hardest spiritual battle yet in my life. I'm a recovering heroin addict and I was homeless for years. By the Grace of God all that is in my past! I'm reading through my four volumes of the Philokalia and all the sweet books I have from St. Herman Monastery Press, especially the Optina Elders books! I have done much weeping over the past year. I miss my mama but I don't have to cry anymore because she isn't bedridden and suffering anymore, she'd with the Father in Heaven.
Your story moved me to tears. I am so sorry for your loss but praise be to God for your recovery. I am so happy to hear that you have found a foundation in God and the Church. Thank you for sharing with us
Before I met my Godfather I saw him crying after taking communion and immediately felt a spiritual connection with him. It takes a strong man to hold back tears, it takes a stronger one to relenquish himself unto God. We fall down before God, we stand upright with Him, we should not fear being vulnerable with Him.
Same with me. I saw my future Godmother (I'll be baptized this Easter in the Catholic church) crying during adoration. The Holy Spirit provoked me to sit next to her despite this and she's led me on the path to Christ since.
As a former Protestant, i say this with great pride; the Orthodox Church is the true Christian church. It saved my life and it will save the soulless west.
I was an orthodox christian but in paper just because i was born in Greece but God showed me the true way when i was 25, until then i was blind even that orthodoxy was all around me.

Orthodoxy is the only church that Christ will use to bring us to fully understand him and his love to the full. Not that we can understand his love completely but that we can get a better understanding out of it. I never understood this as a Protestant. I was a minister for the youth and preaching on the streets. Never have I ever felt such love of God until I came into orthodoxy. I will be baptized 4/15/23 on Holy Saturday.
I do a lot of stupid things in life that make me frustrated and angry, but I keep repeating the same mistakes. It is only when I repent to God of my sins that I feel incredibly ashamed of my actions and involuntarily start crying, as if I am confessing to my father, and that alone helps me to move forward and improve. I am a weak-willed man, and I hope that in the end I will be able to get just one glimpse of the Gates of Heaven.

@@lopakacooper1668 It is. I’ve seen men cry in this way before and it is beautiful to see. I know that whatever men are going through is hard to deal with, but thankfully we have Christ, the Theotokos, the archangels and angels, and the saints that can pray for us.
There’s nothing wrong with being a virgin, many many saints kept their virginity. The world sees it as a loser thing because they love to boast about their sexual immoralities

A man can never exploit woman's vulnerability. A man can never sell a woman's body for his gains. May God help Andrew and he need repentance. He must be in pain from inside.
The Love of God and this level of personal relationship with God is so seldom talked about in many Orthodox Circles (Hyperdox, Fundamentalist Orthos, and Noriedox alike). This kind of content and discussion would do all of us a great deal of good.
Crying is important for the cleansing of the soul, but do it at the right times. How often did you see your father cry? You cant just cry everyday infront of your family. It is your duty as a man to control these feelings and let them out peacefully at the right time, thats basically also what andrew was saying.

I think the meaning of these two viewpoints are different to the point where having the clip of Tate attached in the beginning basically makes no sense
Brother, Tate is speaking about a non religious reason for a man not to be seen crying, especially in front of a woman in the selection process. In the west, there is a strong push to emasculate men and it comes in many forms and from many directions. One thing a woman looks for in a man is mental strength. The fastest way to make women and children scared out of their mind, is the leader and protector of the family break day crying like a baby when violence or death come knocking at their door.
I totally disagree. The modern world is all about emotionalism. Most discussions start out with I “feel”. I feel that you can be what ever gender you want to be. I feel abortion is a woman’s right. I feel offended you didn’t call me by my chosen pronouns, etc, etc. The modern world would say a Christian who is steadfast in his or her faith and didn’t bend to the modern world whims is practicing “emotional coldness “. God made man and woman different, not the same. Promoting the same tactics that feminists use that the correct way to think and feel is like a female is destructive as the western churches are experiencing. Being vulnerable as a man is unattractive to women in general. And that goes back to Tate’s video here not being religious. Vulnerability is negative notion in my rational brain. I’m not going to put I’m vulnerable on a resume. I’m not going tell the spy agency I work for that I’m vulnerable to espionage. Do we magnify the all blameless ever virgin Theotokos because of her vulnerabilities? No I don’t think so. Neither would I fall in the feminist trap to project to a woman I’m interested in that I’m vulnerable. Crying to God is beautiful. Following Eve’s lead isn’t.
