    2nd video I have watched from your channel and I love it ! So glad I found you. These are one of favorite Greek cookies I have made them before only cresent shaped but really love your snowball and Xmas color take for them holiday s. I must make again and a great gift.     I have memories of my Gram making these Christine. She would roll them into a log with her hands, pat down the top and cut them into diamond shapes. Lots and lots of icing sugar too. I like your idea of pressing an indentation into the top of your rounds. Merry Christmas:)

    Totally agree on the "sugar with a shovel" comment! So funny but also true, most of the Greek shops I buy these from give you a box which a lot of icing sugar with the kourabiedes hiding in it..

    Made these this afternoon, but as I had no Cointreau I used Vin Santo instead. Oh wow are they morish! Like the lightest of shortbread in texture, well at least my were. Thank you gorgeous lady for yet another delicious recipe x

    Remind me of my mom’s kipferl cookie variation using hazelnuts, lemon + orange rind, bit of chopped semi sweet chocolate in the batter, shaped like moons. Otherwise, same! I’ll make these for her! She loved your show.

    Baking for my family I like to give them as 🎁 gifts my dad loves these cookies I grew up with theses and others like sugar cookies,gingerbread cookies and biscotti.oh i need to tell you a few years ago you were on Marilyn Dennis show and you made the chocolate 🍫 orange 🍊 cookie baked with olive oil oh they have pecan nuts too . I make them for my dad for Christmas 🎄 every year he just loves them and last year I tried the chocolate biscotti with olive oil to both coolies are amazing 😉 I thank you 🙏 soooo much for the lovely 😊 recipes .

    Ah ha! So that's what my mom's "Almond Cookies" were. Her parents were from Tinos, but she grew up above their candy shop after they immigrated to lovely Newark, New Jersey and was never allowed to learn or speak Greek back in the day. So, it's just ground toasted almonds baked into butter, "icing sugar" (you are like SO Canadian, lol -- we call it "powdered" in California) and what she called "good" (cake) flour, with orange zest. She would press a candied whole almond on each one before covering it with powdered/icing/confectioner's sugar, so that's why my siblings and I called them almond cookies without knowing that they're baked with actual ground almonds. I'd been trying to reproduce them by making sugar cookies with almond extract and that damned whole almond to no avail. Mom passed >20 years ago and I've since taken to the kitchen, trying to deconstruct some of her mysterious Greek dishes that she learned from her parents. By the time I was born, they had moved to suburban Northern California, where we had every fruit and nut tree you can imagine right in our back yard in the 1960's. Whereas us kids wanted only Oreo cookies and McDonald's hamburgers like our friends had, we were served what was local and fresh (= cheap = resourceful = Greek!). I now know that lemon was in everything, and delicious chicken dishes always had figs. Who knew? Still can't recreate Yiaya's rice pudding or her cake made with wine. BTW, after watching your show on Moussaka, I realized why my working mother never made it but always ordered it whenever we went to a Greek restaurant, hehehe. Might give it a try... when I am retired. Thanks so much for sharing your work. Kala Christougenna!

    Would you happen to have the Greek Recipe for Apricot Jam Bar Cookies? My Mom got the recipe from one of her clients she use to nurse years ago, but the recipe has been misplaced! Watching you make these almond snowball cookies reminded me of those apricot jam bars! Maybe make 2 batches and sandwich the jam in the middle?

    Those look delicious and the music was perfect!! Can we freeze raw preformed Kourabiedes for future baking or is it better to bake an entire batch and freeze the cooked version? I'm asking because I love the smell of baking!!

      You can do either . I have not frozen this particular dough preformed but even if you get a bit more cracking you will cover with the icing sugar anyway. Thank you

    Yum! These are some of my favourite cookies. The U. S. Version are called Pecan Sandies. We replace almonds with pecans. I enjoy you teaching your viewers Greek words too.

    That's a nice version of kourabiethes, but (don't get it as a negative comment) we always sprinkle them with neroli water, prior to dusting with icing sugar.

      I would go with either Samos Muscat with gorgeous honey notes and orange ( I love this dessert wine ) another option is Mavro Daphne , sticking with the Greek dessert wine theme that would be good.

    Why don’t people use hand crank small flour sifters anymore? Most I see use sieves/screens they shake it through, gets flour dust everywhere. I’ll continue with my hand sifter 🙌🏻
